After brunch I did some quick errands along Glenferrie Road and decided that I needed a sweet treat. So I headed over to Piccolina for a gelato.

It was quite busy that afternoon, I think everyone had hte same idea to get ice cream on such a nice warm day, so there was a bit of a queue.

On such a lovely warm sunny day, I wanted to get something fresh and light so I got 1 scoop of the passionfruit gelato. Not only was it colourful yellow, there was a nice crunch from the passionfruit seeds. The flavour of the gelato was nice and refreshing.
One of the best gelato shops in town, in my book. I can really taste the raw material, very similar to the ice cream we make at home. Very friendly service and a cute little store to swing by.
One of my fav gelato joints. The pistachio has me always coming back for more. It's not that fake green color some places roll out. It's got a brown tinge that carries with it some roasted nutty tones that separates this from the pack. Pure, velvety joy served here.
So many delicious, fresh flavours to choose from at Piccolina, we are never disappointed! I would suggest trying one of the seasonal flavours that change on the board behind the serving area.
I absolutely loooove this Gelateria, just perfect on a hot day. They have a massive variety of flavors which are just flawless. They also sell these beautiful ice cream cakes. It is a complete must if you're in the Hawthorn area.

The ✅ better than Nutella flavour Is.. as they say, better than sticking your finger into a tub of Nutella. They also have vegan ice cream options for those who would love a sorbet. I also hear good things about the peanut butter flavour here. As Arnold says, I’ll be back.

Such a amazing gelato place. Was glad to discover they had a vegan pistachio flavour, which I've never seen before and it was delicious. Gelato is very high quality, very creamy and full of flavour. You also get a lot for one scoop and the staff are very happy for you to try flavours before ordering. If you are vegan, they have staple vegan flavours but they also have special vegan flavours often. Definitely should go check this place out!

Decided to come here for dessert, amazing quality gelato! Everything is made from scratch which is amazing and theres all sorts of flavours available! Location is nice and the staff was extremely friendly and gives you an insight to all the flavours. Definitely worth a try 10/10! 🍦🍦
I have eaten here soooooo many times. I can’t get over how good the gelati is. I can really vouch that it’s the best in Melbourne. They have new flavours every now and then but my forever favourite is the Pistachio! Love love love!!! We have been ordering birthday cakes from here too and the very last one we had was the💥BOMBE ALASKA: a frozen chocolate ganache centre encased in Salted Caramel gelato, surrounded by Peanut Butter gelato. The cake sits on a chocolate fudge base and coated with torched Italian meringue. It’s so much fun to slowly discover all the layer of different ingredients within the cake. My favourite bit was the torched Italian meringue on the outside. It’s delicious and gooey and exciting.
I needed a refreshing sweet treat after lunch with my friend and stumbled across this gelato place.
I like trying the vegan flavours to see how they compare to the dairy version - and i have to say that these versions are pretty spot on. The chocolate flavour I couldn't tell didn't have dairy. I also chose passionfruit which was refreshing but not too sweet, decent passionfruit flavour and the seeds help seal the authenticity of the flavour. For a non-vegan, I enjoyed both flavours.
Definitely a place I will visit again if I am in the local area - top notch gelato!

I love a fruity gelato & was delighted to find a great range of vegan fruit based options. I settled on a scoop of the passionfruit & a scoop of peach & mint. Both flavours were light & refreshing. The peach & mint was a lovely summery combination & the passionfruit was deliciously tangy. My friend chose the passionfruit & also the vegan chocolate gelato which he loved. I’ll definitely go back if I’m in the area when a gelato craving hits.
A staple to survive Melbourne summer. This is my go to gelateria as it’s quite close to home, but also because it’s so smooth and flavoursome. My favourite flavours are pistachio and hazelnut! There was a huge line but their service is very efficient
Had the pistachios and honeycomb ice cream I was pleasantly surprised. At first I thought the flavours were too tame but I find myself craving this ice cream more than the experimental messina. The texture was extra smooth and almost sticky/gooey. A reallly nice texture in other words. Definitely my new go to ice cream place

I was fortunate enough to win a 1L tub of gelato from Piccolina Gelateria via an Instagram competition.
A 1L tub entitles you to to select up to three flavours, I opted for the Better than Nutella, white chocolate and peanut butter & choc chip. I loved all the flavours we tried, so smooth and creamy without being to sweet, it was just divine.
Piccolina is one of my favourite gelato shops in Melbourne. I give them ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ out 5 and recommend that you check them out.
Delicious!! It’s so delicious it’s addictive, I was lucky to visit on a warm day when there was no queues. I highly recommend one of the best quality gelato in Melbourne.
Piccolina is amazing. I had their Pistachio and Stracciatella, which I really loved. The staff actually let me try various flavours before I got the two flavours. It was hard to decide, but I’m keen to come back to have some more of those flavours.
I’ve also been eating PB+J toastie with their strawberry jam they sell in store, it’s yummy. 😋
I appreciated how happy the staff were to give samples to try :) I had the strawberry watermelon which had a very realistic and fresh flavour, while also being slightly creamy.

Heard so much about Piccolina’s amazing gelato so I was finally able to give it a try whilst I was in the area. Despite the tiny venue and the cold winter weather, there were still quite a number of customers enjoying their freshly made gelato inside.
The girl serving me was extremely friendly and gave us recommendations on their most popular flavours. We ended up getting two double scoops - one of pistachio & coffee, one of honeycomb & peanut butter (special). All the flavours were AMAZING - you can seriously taste the freshness of the gelato and the house made ingredients really make it extraordinary.
Do yourself a favour and get their PISTACHIO - this is honestly the best pistachio gelato I’ve ever had! The pistachio flavour is so strong - you can really tell that they packed a LOT of pistachio in there! It’s almost salty in a way, but definitely our favourite flavour.
The peanut butter (special) was also mind-blowing. You’d think peanut butter would be heavy and indulgent, however they make it super light and fresh without losing any of that strong peanut butter flavour.
If you haven’t tried Piccolina yet, you’re definitely missing out. I’d say it’s on the same level as some of Melbourne’s most well-known gelato stores likes Pidapipo and Messina (and that pistachio is of course beyond all of them).
A really great little gelato place in Hawthorn. I tried the special flavour peanut butter with milk chocolate which was a standout and the chocolate which I would have loved if it was a bit more richer. The ice cream is very easy to eat because it was so smooth and airy.
Really friendly service, and a nice little casual dessert spot on Glenferrie rd. I tried the salted caramel and the Better than Nutella. I quite enjoyed the salted caramel, a wonderfully rich flavour; but the Nutella scoop was a little disappointing as it wasn’t as decadent and chocolatey as I was hoping for. I’ll come back to try other flavours next time.

This place sells Gelato and Sorbet but from FRESH Ingredients. Definitely recommend it to others and have taken my friends there from beyond Mitcham and St Kilda. Its worth the trip.
Actually have an addiction to Piccolina. There is always atleast one 1.5 litre tub in the freezer. Always a fan of the peanut butter specials, the brownie and caramel has been my fav so far. But chocolate (non dairy free one) will always top my list!! Delicious!
Have tried all their flavours multiple times, for their specials can be hit and miss with the toppings etc... needs lots of brownie/ crumble/ fruit etc... when there isn't enough it just doesn't pop like it should!

Definitely some of Melbourne’s best gelato and staff are very friendly. They do offer gluten free waffle cones and will let you try a variety of flavours before ordering.

All of there flavours are %100 natural and made daily all very creamy and soft. They have a selection of permanent flavours and they have specials flavours that change every few days (or once a week). They make there own peanut butter and Nutella spread that you can purchase at the counter, there is also a selection of cakes in the fridge in a good selection of sizes from 2-12 or 14, you will also find there homemade choc tops that are very cute. The decor is nice and definitely not just what you would see in your standard gelato bar. Highly recommend you visit if in the area, not one negative comment.

We’ve been regular visitors to Piccolina’s original Hawthorn gelateria since it opened. Outstanding gelato, including our contender for the best coconut gelato in Melbourne. What makes the coconut so good? Beautiful creamy texture, intense coconut taste and chock-a-block with pieces of real coconut flesh.
Flavours tend towards the traditional, which Piccolina does exceptionally well – no over-the-top extravagances here. In keeping with Piccolina’s use of traditional techniques, all the gelato is stored in round lidded pozzetti, to retain freshness. The menu has core group of about a dozen regular dairy-based flavours, plus a handful of non-dairy (vegan) sorbetti and granitas. There is also an ever-changing list of special flavours and of course the cakes…
Everything is 100% natural – no pre-mixes, artificial colours or flavours, preservatives, thickeners or stabilisers. While the gelato used to be made on-site, since opening its new, much larger Collingwood gelateria in October 2017, Piccolina now produces all its gelato there, with daily deliveries to Hawthorn.
What can I say that hasn’t already been said? Fantastic ice cream and lovely staff who always seem chilled despite the long line of customers.

Located in the heart of Glenferrie road you will find Piccolina. It’s a quaint little place serving up some very tasty creamy ice cream. On par with other places like pidapipo. Not a huge amount of flavours to choose from but more than enough to please your taste buds. Highly recommend.
Fantastic little gelato shop that easily rivals gelato Messina when wanting to get your ice cream fix. Flavours are fantastic, my personal favourites have to be pistachio, coffee, coconut and white chocolate. The fiore de latte is amazing, it is a much try is it happens to be a featured special for the week. Sorbets are also excellent for anyone who wants a dairy free option. We went to here around 10pm. There were more than few people having a gelato. It's doesn't looks like gelato shop from outside as I was nearly going to noodle shop which was next door.

Delicious gelato; beautiful smooth texture and bursting with fresh flavour; my favourites are lemon and passionfruit, though the honeycomb and various choc flavours are also delicious.
You can even see them making the gelato in the back of the store which adds a nice touch.
The granita is tasty too and a good pick for sweltering summer days - the lemon particularly is sweet, sour, fruity and icy and great to cool down.
I absolutely loved this cute little spot!!! The interiors were vibrant, fun and my favourite colour is blue! I got 2 scoops in a cup: passionfruit and honeycomb. The passionfruit was a burst of tartness and it tasted like real fruit. The honeycomb was also amazing and it wasn't overly sweet. Truly one of my favourite gelato places, next to pidapipo. I'll definitely be back!!
Piccolona is a long way down from the Glenferrie station and at the time of day I felt like Gelato I was having to fight my way through all the private school kids three wide on their walk to the train. That said I’m glad I made the effort. The interior of the shop is sleek and has an almost laboratory feel about it, back of house at least. The customer area is also quite cool. I ordered a single scoop of honeycomb which was quite generously crafted into shape by a friendly lady with a rich French accent. The gelato was creamy and honeycomb a delicious flavour. They had a reasonable range of flavours but no as many as some but certainly don’t hold that against them. They have a flavour called “better than nutella” which I feel is just asking for a repeat visit from me. They also have some granita flavours and vegan friendly options.🍦
Had the honeycomb and salted caramel gelato and it was amazing, the honeycomb had actual pieces of honeycomb in it and choc chips, and the salted caramel was delicious, will definitely be coming here again.

Absolutely amazing Gelato. Started off with a double scoop of brownie(70%) and strawberry which was brilliant, considering that both of them were vegan too! Couldn't resist the temptation of having another double scoop, the nice lady serving us suggested a combination of coffee and pistachio which was just amazing. One of the best places around to have Gelato. The ambience was pretty cosy, albeit a bit constricted. The lady at the counter knew her stuff and was extremely helpful.
Ps - Do not miss out on the coffee flavour, its the best.
You know how some people say that, 'some things are worth being fat for'? This is what they're talking about. The smoothest, most to-die-for gelato I've had in a long time. We only just discovered this Heaven on Earth tonight but we will be back. Worth the 35 minute drive - without a doubt.

Clean, funky place for ice cream treat after lunch/dinner. They offer some indoor and outdoor seating and you can watch short videos on their windows during night, that was pretty cool!
There were lots of different flavours of ice cream, and special drinks. In the glass fridge,you can also find large ice cream cake that Luxbit made for Piccolina. They looked really nice and should taste good.

We've tried passionfruit, chocolate mascarpone and peanut butter flavours. They all tasted very smooth, and extremely soft. After few scoops, you won't feel too heavy and I could definitely taste the goodness~

Have only been here twice but this place is already on top of my list. My favourite gelato flavour is pistachio and this store makes an amazing one! They use all natural ingredients and roast their own nuts at the premise. Knowing these facts, I assure myself its okay to have gelato at 10pm 😬 The staffs are really friendly and helpful too.
I don't generally like pistachio-flavoured things, but this has won me over. It's unlike any other - and according to the knowledgeable staff, it's the way pistachio is meant to taste!
Can't wait for the concept store to open in Smith Street later on in the year - but for the next week or so it's definitely worth checking out the space at the Watchmaker pop-up as a part of Design Week (with compliments of Piccolina Gelateria)!

This place is soo amazing! All gelato is made in house and the flavours are all so authentic and delicious. What I think is the best part of this gelateria though is the staff!!! They are so kind and fun and are happy for you to taste as many flavours as you want before you choose. Such a gem for Glenferrie Rd! P.S bring back baklava gelato 😍

I love, love, LOVE this place. Casa Del Gelato in the city used to be my favourite gelato spot but this has surpassed it. The fact that they roast all their own nuts for their icecream really screams dedication to the art of gelato. The owners are lovely and always happy to chat. If you go and they have the baklava flavour, give it a go; they bake the baklava on site and literally dump it into the ice cream churner!

Have been to this place a number of times, the last of which was on the hot and sunny Sunday afternoon just past. Tossing up between their salted caramel which I'd enjoyed before, their new baklava flavour and their peanut butter flavour, I finally settled on the peanut butter. It was pure natural flavour, and yet with a lightness that I rarely find even in other gourmet gelato stores. The granita that my partner ordered was similar, with its great balance of citrus and sweetness, and again strong natural flavours coming through. The best thing was that compared to last time I came, when the portions were fixed at larger amounts and the prices fixed higher, the place now offers a $5 'Bambino Cone', which was much more of the portion size and price that I wanted. Cannot wait to try one of the Piccolina Luxbite ice cream cakes in their spunky venue next time I visit!
The best part about their delicious gelato is that it does not contain artificial ingredients, food additives, preservatives, thickeners, gelatines or colours. The candlelit interior is very romantic with blue walls and cosy seating. They also have gelato cakes available for your next birthday…
I went here with my family after eating Indonesian up the road. I ordered the peach Gelato or sorbet and the better then Nutella. When I went to pay the ice cream slipped and I nearly lost it, a staff member gave me a cup to catch it with. I think it would be great if they had cone holders so people can have their hands free to pay. The peach flavour was ok, I thought it was a bit plain but the better then Nutella was amazing, I don't think it was better then Nutella, I thought it was just as good and it tasted a bit different. I also tried Dad's hazelnut which was really good, I'll probably get that next time. Mum really liked her strawberry 🍓 flavour. The staff here were very nice.
Best gelato ever. Been to messina and pidapippo on weekly basis when I worked in prahan. This place is so much more authentic and flavorful with all their flavors made from fresh produce daily. Gotta come try for your self and see :)

The nicest, creamiest, best gelato I have ever get in Melbourne. If you are visiting this humble shop, you will not have any expectation of what quality they may offer. Except, of course, the number of people which often crowded and people lining up. A few times I went there after dinner, I always found the shop quite busy considering the size of the store. It appears that it is a common sight if you see customers lining up to buy a tub of ice cream. Yes, a tub! and it is fairly common.
My favourites are: vanilla, bread butter and jam, pistachio, and dark chocolate.

I don't eat a lot of ice cream and live right by the original Messina Fitzroy. Boy what a find this place is. Best ice cream ive ever had anywhere, includes Italy multiple times. They roast their own nuts, MUST get on the peanut butter flavour. Lovely staff too can't fault. Will defo be back soon!!!

Sandra, Alex and Hazel gave us an authentic italian experience last night, treating us with an array of beautiful flavours and a passionate explanation of their natural and rare product. They are so positive and happy, it was a pleasure meeting the creators!

In the heart of busy Hawthorn, Piccolina Gelateria has teamed up with South Yarra's LuxBite to create four decadent gelato cakes. . Using authentic gelato made in the Glenferrie Road store, Piccolina and LuxBite have created a signature cake called Ferrerolina Rocher. . This cake is a take on the Ferrero Rocher chocolate which is made of Hazelnut , "Better than Nutella" and Milk Chocolate gelato with hazelnut praline and puffed rice crunch. To top off the Ferrerolina Rocher, dark chocolate is doused on top with roasted hazelnut and a few gold leaves to add that extra glamorous touch!
We have been there several times but just never actually wrote a review. Always packed. The service is fantastic and they are always patient with the tasting. Never feel rushed. I've tried several flavours of the Gelato and always liked it.
Piccolina Gelateria is an adorable little gelato shop in Glenferrie. It is the best gelato we have found in Melbourne to date. We actually felt like we were back in Italy just from stepping inside. The staff are Italian and very friendly. There is Italian music always playing and not just those classics or one hit wonders but Italian pop which is super catchy even if all the songs are about love. The gelato is made completely natural and even stored using traditional Italian methods. It is made fresh everyday and it tastes beyond amazing and the flavours just blow you away!
TIP: Do try the White Chocolate- it is so creamy and don't forget to try the Peanut Butter- it certainly makes you want a second and even third scoop!

People admiring Messina should forget about the shit gelato and come to this place and try some gelato here. None of the flavours disappointed me, even once! This place is so underrated! I do think they need more flavours though but you never get bored cos everything here is just so yummmmmm!!!!

Great Gelateria. All natural ingredients is a big selling point, but the Gelato...wow! I love vanilla it is as good as you will find anywhere, but the Pistachio is simply unbelievable. The staff know their product really well and are super friendly...do yourself a favour and head on down.
This has to be my favourite gelato place in Melbourne at the moment....and I thought Pidapipo would be hard to beat (especially with the warm Nutella served in their cones)....What gets Piccolina over the line is the additive / preservative free ice-cream & the delicious fresh taste, with the flavours actually tasting like what they are. I love the honeycomb & the salted caramel best, but everything else I've tasted has been delicious!
Absolutely amazing! I have had loads of gelato in Italy and across Europe, but Piccolina definitely outdoes all of that by far. The ingredients used are so fresh, you can actually taste the difference. I stumbled across Piccolina this evening and will forever be a loyal customer. I would recommend the pistachio!
DO: Any of the flavours, you won't be disappointed. Peanut, chocolate, coffee and strawberry were my favorites.
DON'T: Forget to purchase a few tubs to take home too. Great people pleaser.
TIP: Freshly churned so best you eat within a day or two for optimum yumminess.

Some of the best ice-cream I've ever had. Love the whole atmosphere and the traditional roots. I've had the Nutella and honey comb flavours and absolutely loved them.
Pretty amazing icecream for a place I'd walked past hundreds of times but never quite noticed! Wasn't really a fan of the hot cross bun flavour, but the tiramisu was awesome!! Would try again!
Cute little Gelato store. They were all really nice. And plenty of good flavours. Some areas to sit around.
I had a combo of cookies and cream and honey comb and was really delicious.
Piccolina is a super cute little shop with a kitchen the same size where you see them preparing the praline or roasting nuts. I enjoyed the salted caramel, it was perfectly smooth and creamy with the right amount of salt. SIL had the chop chip which was a beautiful vanilla with flaked bits of good quality chocolate. We also tasted the coffee that was the best coffee icecream I've ever had. I wish i was local so i could visit it more.
Just when you think we can’t possibly have any more gelato stores in Melbourne (and how could our gelato really get any better anyway)…Melbourne likes to prove you wrong. . Fortunately for me this time, the newest addition to the gelato squad, Piccolina Gelateria, is in Hawthorn - a much shorter journey for me to satisfy my gelato cravings!

We noticed the queue coming out of this place whilst at dinner next door. We thought we would check it out after seeing our movie down the road- well let me tell you, glad we did!! I didn't know gelato like this existed. It was so delicious, creamy and smooth. I had the salted caramel and peanut butter- oh my goodness- it was amazing. The PB was so creamy and that addition of the peanut crunch took it to another level. The salted caramel was phenomenal, by far the best in Melbourne!
My friend had the pistachio and the special which had just been churned, honeycomb-it was heavenly. It was a pleasant surprise to see that the pistachio was not bright green, as the lady behind the counter explained to us- real pistachio is not green, she showed us the actual nuts which they use and explained how there are no additives in their gelato- that makes a huge difference to the flavour and its good to know that its a natural whole food that you're getting and not a bunch of numbers. The staff were also delightful, lots of great banter and very passionate about the product. The place had a great vibe, lots of ambience- perfect night out, dinner ,movie and dessert!! Yay!!
There are around 20 flavours on offer – a core group of regular flavours, plus a couple of specials that change regularly. All the sorbets are dairy-free, as are a couple of the gelato flavours. Several flavours of Sicilian (hand churned) granita are also available. Taking our reviewing responsibilities seriously, we tasted just about all of them before making our final selections.
All the flavours were outstanding, even the rather intriguing Bread, Butter and Jam – studded with small chunks of toasty goodness and swirled with jammy raspberries. Special mentions go to the gorgeous smooth choc hazelnut richness of Better than Nut-lla and the beautifully refreshing hit from the watermelon, mint and lime granita.
We observed that the gelato was a little soft, which apparently is also a characteristic of the additive free approach.
Finally we got a chance to head down and try this new gelateria in Hawthorn. As soon as you step inside, you notice that their gelato is stored in the bench. There are so many flavours to choose from and the staff was very friendly. He let us try all the flavours before deciding. We ended up with the bread, butter & chocolate, and pistachio. The gelato was very silky smooth and not too heavy. Will definitely return to try other flavours!
Came here for some ice cream. Had the peanut butter special and Nutella. Ice cream was creamy and full of flavour. Quality was on point. Will definitely be returning here.
This picolina has just opened to replace the one opposite the road, absolutely love the vibes of the place. Crowded as always even in winter so make sure you are comfortable lining up for a while. They have plenty of options to choose from, even with dairy free and vegan. They also have weekly specials - which is Twix and NY cheesecake at the moment but get in there early because those usually run out by post dinner time. Definitely a favourite local ice creamery!
Awesome icecream and very quick friendly service as cool tunes are played loudly.
The flavours are wicked and I look forward to revisiting this ice-creamery at their new premises next time I am in Hawthorn.

Beautiful design of the gelato shop. A lot of flavours to choose from and usually a few specials as well. We always go pistachio but they suggested some special flavour we thought we try that but we like chocolate one but the one with marshmallow is not good from my perspective.
Had a pleasant experience at piccolina today, the staff was very welcoming and helpful, there were tons of options to pick from, sad that they dont do testing but the staff explained the flavors pretty well and even showed me what it looked like. Just one thing left me a little disappointed is that they were all out of cones, so I had to get a cup, but that is a minor issue that is out of their control.
Delicious ice cream served by friendly knowledgeable staff. I went to the Glenferrie Rd store last Saturday night and the team were under the pump but remained calm, polite and very efficient. The new shop looks amazing and well worth the visit, indoor seating is available. The staff made great suggestions and the young lad who served me was fantastic! white chocolate, stracciatella and salted caramel are the best.
Best ice cream in Melbourne hands down. Friendly service, quick moving line, and incredible range of flavours. Very fairly priced as well. Cakes are also very good and perfect for parties. A must try if you are in Melbourne!
