Toto’s Pizza is located on Lygon St—also known as the Little Italy of Melbourne. The area is occupied by Italians who migrated to Melbourne during the 1950s, and thus became the area with the most Italian restaurants in the city.

My friend was craving pizza at night and we did ‘t want to go out so late, so we browsed through UberEats for a good pizza place to try.

We came across lots of Italian restaurants and pizzerias, but we felt we had to try Toto’s, since they’re known as Melbourne’s ever first pizzeria!

The price was pretty good. The price ranges around $16-$17 for regular sized gourmet pizzas, and $22 for the large gourmet.

We went for a classic Pepperoni Pizza though, which only costed $17 for a large.

It arrived warm and it was immediately devoured. Thin and crispy dough, so crispy you can hear the crisps and cracks as you chew. The cheese and pepperoni were also amazing.

So satisfied to indulge on this while watching a show on Netflix.

Met up with friends here for dinner. Great tasting pizzas. We had 3 types - Aussie, Marinara and Diablo. Also had the Chicken Parmigiana and Alla Romana pasta. Drinks on the pricey side though at $15 per jug of lemon lime bitters.

Have been here enough times to know how delicious the pizzas are. The taste is unique and different compared to others. The best part about the pizza is the crust and the cheese. The staff is very friendly and welcoming and always have a happy face on them. Small gestures like these make the experience even better.

Great light tasting pizzas , nice place and great staff. Would recommend the medium size pizza for one person. Try the tiramisu cake too, it’s really good.

My favorite pizza house on Lygon St. I started coming here as a kid and the same friendly upbeat attitude has always been there.
The pizza's are great. A beautiful thin base with a generous serving of toppings. The ingredients are fresh and full of flavour.
Highly recommend Totos if you want a good meal and not break the bank

One of the best gluten free pizza bases I’ve ever had. Kids meals were generous serves. Very welcoming and friendly staff and meals were fairly quick but we were there early in the evening. Mediterranean Salad was pricey for what came out.

Food is alright here, however not to the standards of other restaurants on lygon street. The people are great, the food is tasty however i do think it may benefit from an upgraded menu.

Full of history this place. It's been on Lygon since the dawn of time. A nice traditional type of pizza. It's a bit old school but that's part of the charm.

here`s the deal, my very first Totto`s Pizza I had was back in 67, I was 15 years old, I heard of them but I did`nt know what they were really all about, when I looked into the box I thought gees! how am I supposed to eat this thing.... all the way home on the train I was in eatery heaven, the smell blew me away and I was hooked. before that day my take away experiences were fish and chips, potato cakes, with vinegar wrapped in newspaper or hamburgers....not long ago I took my wife and some friends to Totto`s for a quick lunch on the way to the airport, we all thought that the pizzas and pastas were sensational, my wife could not believe her taste buds and old memories of a once great experience came flooding back. I promised my wife that we would return soon, we live 150 kilometers away in a place where good food is a rarity... this time there was just us and our two small pooches, they made us feel welcome from the start which is how you should always begin a good meal.... now here`s the thing, I ordered a glass of red but I got a white wine instead, my wife`s salad had a wedge of tomato in it that had a bit of mange, the pasta we ordered to take away for a later meal was ordered as fetuccini but was made as spaghetti.... we did`nt say a thing, there was no need because as a chef and as past restaurantures we completely understand what it`s all about and how it works.... Totto`s are not the best pizzas in the world but they ARE great and the same goes for their pastas.... it`s all full of great flavours and the place makes you feel at home, Totto`s does not profess to be a 5 star eatery but these days that`s what every body expects because all of a sudden every body is an expert thanks to television, they go to great down to earth food places like this and for 20 dollars they expect a mouth full of orgasms.... what a load of crock.... gees, I can understand if you find a bug in your food but complaining because the waitresses were leaning over the table in front of you or the fact that they did not use DOC ham or DOC cheese, boy! you really got a crises in your life have`nt you.... Totto`s is a place where me and my wife are going to continue enjoying great pizzas and pastas but next time I will put in a complaint.... I`m going to complain that non of those drop dead gorgeous waitresses leaned over in front of me whilst serving.... that alone would be worth doubling the tip... oh and as for the young son who when he has the time goes around welcoming and talking to you.... you know, the good looking handsome dude with the cheeky smile and five o`clock shadow.... that`s Italian.... it`s called hospitality.... bravo paisan.... see you all soon, cheers Alexander Wild San Remo

Toto's Pizza House began serving pizza and other Italian delights in Melbourne in 1961 from their Lygon Street, Carlton location and has been a part of Melbourne's culinary history for as long as most people can remember. Since then, Toto's has grown with take-away eateries in Richmond and South Melbourne with menus that are diverse and feature many favourites that keep locals coming back for more.

A Carlton classic, Toto's has proven to be a good place to go with a group of friends for a last-minute dinner - we've never had a problem getting a table. The pizzas have nice thin bases, with generous toppings. Not the fanciest Italian food on Lygon St, but still tasty!

We've been coming to Totos for years and we are never disappointed. Amazing food and great service. We are always impressed with the friendly wait staff and generous servings. 10/10 every time - the homemade gnocchi is always a hit! Thanks Totos we will be back as always!

I lunched at Toto's in Lygon Street (one of Melbourne's most iconic eateries) for the first time today and chose an entrée sized Rigatoni Marinara (fine selection of seafood tossed with a touch of garlic and napolitana) and I found it quite sufficient in quantity for a lunch meal. The flavour was great and good value for money at $15.90. My meal was served steaming hot and within 15 minutes of time of ordering with the restaurant being quiet. The provision of service was excellent, the young staff were very friendly, polite as well as being efficient and the manager was jovial and ensured that his customers were happy.

The Juror's Verdict: Food 4.5/5, Service Provision 5/5, Will I return: Yes, I will definitely revisit to experience a different menu choice soon.

Without fail high quality pizza and very affordable. I have lived on lygon street for 2 years and every other Italian restaurant complicates the food, Toto's keeps it simple but flavoursome.

Toto's is considered the first established pizzeria in Melbourne. Originally owned by Italians, it was acquired by a Lebanese businessman in 1983 and is still run by him. In 2007, Toto's became the second member of the World Pizza Hall of Fame. Knowing all this, I pressed mom to have a late lunch there and I have to say I expected the food to be much better. It was good, but not wow. The service was swift and efficient. And the owner even came out to have a small chit chat with us. The prices are average for Australia, as we compared between the several cities we stayed at. Kindly note that my pictures date from 2013 when mom and I visited Australia.

Excellent Service and Generous Portions. Came here a few months ago - a very memorable experience. I generally don't prefer outdoor seating (especially during the colder months) but the heating is fine and they have wind barriers so it was a beautiful night. Saw that some patrons had to wait and they were offered wine for the wait, really excellent service. Delicious food. The pasta was filling and the portions were generous. My sister and I tried a tomato-based sauce pasta and creamy pasta and they were both very good. Great value. Would recommend.

Completely underrated. For a casual Italian restaurant Toto's actually exceeded my expectations. The food was phenomenal! We ordered 2 pastas (entree size) and a pizza. The pizza was massive and delicious although there was alot of sausages on it it was still delicious. The pastas were to die for! We ordered a chicken avocado pasta (forgot the name) and a red-sauce pasta. Both were very nice! We also ordered the mars bar cake and omg it was so rich and delicious! I was so full after dinner but the dessert cakes looked way too enticing and tasted even better.

The staff were really friendly as well!
Entree size pasta is good. Price is cheap. Great food. Great service. Great experience.

This is definitely pizza worth burning the roof of your mouth for. Lovely staff who are welcoming and genuine. Unfortunately after eating we had to run to catch our train, but will definitely return and try the scrumptious looking home made cakes as they will sure compliment the lovely pizza! :)

Best in Melbourne for quality food and service. Just wanted to drop you a quick note to thank Toto's for their first class service and flavour.

I order their Veal Scallopini regularly and are never dissatisfied. Always the best flavour.

As a Flight Attendant, I travel the country, eating out and ordering in, often. I must say you set the benchmark in the quality of service. I have tried other versions and they never crack it.

A big thanks to the team of pros. I genuinely appreciate it. You guys are most generous and super nice to deal with. It's my pleasure to order from you regularly.

Thank you :)

Absolutely LOVED it!. Went here with friends a couple of months ago.
We shared some pizza and dessert and it was all utterly delicious, particularly the Pizza margarita. out of the Pizzerias I've been to in Australia the pizza seemed the most genuinely Italian. The waitresses were also really friendly and helpful. We liked it so much that we went back the night after and had pasta. We had three different types, and though it is true that not everyone liked all of them, that was a matter of personal taste.
Lastly, It's very inexpensive; a large delicious meal shared between about 6 people (including shared dessert) ended up only about $15-20
Also, I didn't even know that it had the gimmick of being the first in Australia, so this review is un-bias by that point.

A decent place for Italian food. The ambience is depleting compared to last year when we had visited this place . Food is good, unfortunately we the veg lasagne was not available this time we visited. Pasta was good the pizza was below average for sure as it thin crust and even had got roasted at sides. The drinks were served well and the staff was very friendly.
