Absolutely loved this place! We got take away, although the restaurant looked amazing and would love to go again for a sit down meal. The prices were reasonable for what you’d pay for a place of that standard. Bit on the more expensive side but food was absolutely delicious. The potato gnocchi was soft and the sauce was incredible. Absolutely done perfectly with chunks of mozzarella in it. Pizza was crispy and had a lovely flavour. Unique topping options but worked really well together. The tiramisu was delicious! Everything we tried was really lovely and will definitely be coming back!
Such a delicious meal with very generous portions! The ragu taste was really beautiful and paired perfectly with the peas, yum! The Affogato was a perfect way to finish after a heavy meal, great all round 👌
I really liked the fitout too, large and spacious with beautiful interior, and the service was really lovely. No split bills if there’s a discount added though (I.e. the entertainment book)
Pictured is the Gigantoni al Sugo d’Agnello e Piselli (large tube pasta with slow cooked lamb ragu and peas), Affogato (non-alcoholic) and Watermelon Mojito Mocktail
Really enjoyed dining at osteria 20. Pizzas and pasta were delicious. Lots of cocktails to choose from. Staff were very friendly, great service! The only downside was, it was a bit noisy. So if you go with a large group sitting at a large table, you might not be able to hear anyone unless they’re next to you.
We started off with the garlic pizza and the halloumi fries. Both were excellent. I then had the gnocchi... the gnocchi itself was cooked well but the dish was extremely cheesy. The flavours were good, but I would have preferred it to be less cheesy (I love cheese so it’s a lot when I say it’s too cheesy) and more saucy. It was quite dry due to the excessive amount of cheese!
The waiter initially was extremely rude.. and it left us feeling quite annoyed and shocked but he was great after... Not sure what happened but I do think waiters need to be careful with how they greet and talk to customers... overall, quite decent.
Love the venue, the risotto and the wine!Have been here a few times now - have ordered the mushroom risotto every time (I think), and have always had a great meal out of it. When the mushroom risotto is not on the specials board, I order the chicken risotto minus the chicken and they are happy to assist with my vegetarian dietary requests! I also know that the slow cooked lamb rigatoni is an excellent choice to order, and the gnocchi was deliciously cheesy and yummy. The venue itself is fun and modern, with a front section that has windows that open (lovely for a warm day). Unfortunately we tried to go on a Saturday night for my partners birthday and they turned us away because they didn't have a table for 2, but hope to try and make it there again. A bit pricey but there are specials you can really make the most out of if you time it well! You can also sometimes find them on the Eatclub app :)
We've been to Osteria multiple times now on friday nights over a space of a few months. It's a modern and spacious italian restaurant in the heart of glenferrie road. Staff are very attentive and professional especially the seniors. You could say it is fine dining but without the crazy price tags. What I really like about Osteria is you do actually get a generous portion for your meals and not a minuscule serve at other places.
What I recommend -
Entrees - Palenta Chips
Pasta - Linguini Osteria, Spaghetti Pescatore, Lamb Rigatoni.
Special (changes often, staff will advise) - Roast lamb shoulder
Dessert (also changes often) - creme brulee, souffle , nuttella semifreddo
Digestives - Frangelico
Whether it is a date night or big group gathering, Osteria has the right vibes for a great night out.
Had a very pleasant time at Osteria 20, we ordered the Polenta Chips and Arancini to begin with, definitely Arancini is worth it, very well seasoned!
We then had the Spaghetti Pescatore and Linguini Osteria, both of which were very filling and flavoursome, definitely come back one day, but maybe ordering less a bit as the portion sizes were big, but was worth it!
Amazing pizzas and pastas with a really great menu! The honey and pear pizza was absolutely amazing - will definitely be back for that one alone. A beautiful environment, we loved sitting in the booths by the large windows.
Came here with a pescatarian friend and decided to try a few dishes from the entree section. The arancini, roasted potatoes, entree size house salad and the specials of Morton bay bugs and eggplant chips were all very tasty. We were ridiculously stuffed and had a very good red to go with it. Super friendly and enthusiastic service.
Nice atmosphere with excellent floor staff; Kosta was fantastic there when we needed him and invisible when we didn’t. Food was very nice as well. I’ll definitely be back as great for business lunches.
We decided to have some hearty Italian on a cold night and we weren't disappointed. The lamb ragu pasta was great as was the salami pizza. Generous serving sizes which meant we walked out very satisfied. The front of house guy was very welcoming and friendly as well.
7/10 Better be good ... especially for the price that they are asking on ... $30.00 for their Pasta dishes.
Modern, spacious, outdoor, indoor, cool "airy" veranda feels interior, nice place to hangout, especially at Happy Hour. JT-19/04/2019.
We had a lunch for 12 here. Roberta was so lovely and helpful to assist with organizing. The food was fabulous, staff were very attentive and we’ll definitely be coming back here.
Osteria 20 is a feast for your eyes, nose, mouth and stomach! The moment you walk in, your senses are bombarded by a variety of wonderful sights, smells and eventually tastes.
They have a wide range of pizzas and pastas to please anyone's palate. We had a great time devouring the spaghetti marinara which had a generous amount of seafood piled on top of perfectly cooked pasta. Love their pizza bases which are always nice and chewy.
Service is fantastic. While it may be a little pricey, it is definitely worth it. We will be back again soon for their heavenly authentic Italian food!

Went with a friend to Osteria 20 on a Wednesday where pizzas are only $14 - an absolute bargain. Together we shared a prosciutto and capricciosa. What I loved about the pizzas here is that they have the traditional crispy Italian base, but they also have plenty of toppings and sauce, unlike the sprinkle you often get at other Italian restaurants.
The ambience of the restaurant is upscale Italian, and there are small and big tables both inside and out to accomodate a range of people. These pizzas were a delicious discovery and Osteria 20 is sure to become my local Italian joint.
We called into Osteria 20 for a quick dinner before a movie down at the Lido. Always such a buzzy atmosphere here and a good spot for a quick turn around of food. We kept it simple and ordered half a dozen natural oysters, a Margherita pizza and a fennel and pomegranate salad. Kellies favourite cocktail, the Southside, was no longer on the cocktail list but they were more than willing to make it up for her. I had a great Belgium beer.
The fennel salad was generous for two people and could easily extend to four. I likes the Margherita and the dough was ok with a bit of bubble. Prepared I. An Italian pizza oven it was an even cook.
We used our entertainment card for a 25% discount... always a bonus.

After popping into Osteria 20 for a few
Drinks a couple of weeks ago we were invited back as guests to try some dishes from their large and varied menu.
There was a very different vibe to the place on Thursday when compared to our earlier visit, more laid back and relaxed.
We sat in the open area at the front getting the last rays of sunlight.
We started with a Red fruit district cocktail winner of cocktail making competition at the glenferrie festival 2018. This was a delightful refreshing drink with a taste of cherry.
We also tried a new cocktail the Lara Croft, it was described as sweet and dynamic and wow it certainly was, the sherbet rim gives this drink a kick that pairs perfectly with the grenadine sweetness in the cocktail. Both new but should surely be added to the menu.
We ate tasting platter while sipping cocktails. Delicious salty flat bread with herbs. Served with a divine beetroot humus dip, eggplant dip, Greek olives and Greek feta.
Entrees came next and we started with Salmon crudo salad, cured salmon, chilli, lemon, horseradish. The texture of this cured salmon was on point, not oily, not to thin and not to thick, served with a delicate salad that enhanced the flavours rather than detracting from them.
Beef brisket house smoked beef on rye with pickled vegetables and mustard. Think of it as a warmed open Reuben with pickles instead of sauerkraut.
Our last entree was deep fried eggplant, served with broad beans, feta and spring onion. The crunch of the eggplant goes well with the saltyness of the creamy feta and the sweetness of the broad beans. This was my surprise favourite entree.
With our entrees we drank a French Rosè (Domaine Les 3 Momes) which was exceptional.
The main I had tonight was the signature dish, the spaghettini pescatore. Advice was given before the dish arrived to shell all the seafood first, then mix through the spaghettini. I was also given chilli oil to add if it wasn’t hot enough. This dish was an exotic seafood fiesta, the flavours worked perfectly together, there was a subtle garlic and chilli hit in the pasta without over powering the seafood, I added a few drops of the chilli oil but didn’t want to add too much heat as I didn’t want to detract from the flavours. I can totally understand why this is a signature dish, it’s a winner. The seafood was very generous, Morton bay bug, crab, clams, mussels, scampi.
Espy was craving red meat so ate the cape from rib eye which was cooked medium rear and had been delicately sliced away from the bone and was some of the tenderest meat I had tried. This came with roasted potatoes, long mushroom stops and a perfect sauce. Mustards were on the side.
We were both full by the time it came around to dessert but didn’t want to leave without a sweet note so opted to share a dessert. We had the Cannoli with roasted strawberries, dried citrus segment. The dried orange was a flavours bomb and being segments was puffy and light in texture. The Cannoli is well recommended.
We had a frozen Lemoncello to finish off the night. Apparently a secret recipe this was insanely delicious.
A very satisfying meal in stylish environs with friendly staff made for a near perfect evening. Thanks so much for having us.
Fo0die dined as a guest of Osteria 20 and as such, the rating does not give any consideration to customer service.
Arriving for lunch on a Saturday, we parked on Kinkora Road which has no limit on a Saturday (its normally 2P Monday to Friday). One side is permit zone so be sure to check the signs. The name ‘Osteria 20’ is made up of the word ‘osteria’ which are restaurants in Italy that serve simple food and drinks that is available on the menu that day and 20 represents the 20 regions of Italy. Having been in operation for 1.5 years, Osteria 20 is passionate about bringing affordable wines to diners and has a large variety of Australian, French and Italian wines.
Wonderful service, great vibe, great food and great lunch specials! Highly recommend the pizza. Food came out quickly but was definitely fresh
The staff are very attentive and the venue is lovely. The meals were very delicious. Only complaint would be the volume of the music - far far too loud. I don’t understand why restaurants think the music needs to be so loud. Don’t most people go to a restaurant to catch up with friends and converse.
Love this restaurant, the food was magnificent and the service was exceptional. We will definitely be back. Has become one of my favourite restaurants. 😁
It’s Sunday and we dropped in at 3pm on the off chance the kitchen was open. Well what a happy surprise Osteria turned out to be!! The environment was warm and friendly, music and the service authentic Italian; well they were all Italian plus one Greek!!
Finally the food and wine were as you would expect, the best of Italian, bon apetito😊
Walked into this restaurant by chance last night and boy was it a good decision. The restaurant had very lovely interiors and a nice atmosphere. Loved the art work on the way to the bathroom.
Had the sphaghettini pescatore and we usually do not like mussels but this ones were fresh and cooked well with the other ingredients that we actually liked it.
The best part was that the waiter who served us was really friendly and attentive. Superb service on his part. Can't recall his name but he said he liked to sing.
We would definitely be coming back more often.
What a sensational night. Thanks to Frank and tremendous staff. The service was impeccable and food was delicious, tasty and outstanding. Thanks for making our daughter's 18th a memorable night. The staff made us feel welcome and it was nice for them to mingle in. Everything we asked was attended to and with no fuss. I would highly recommend this restaurant. And yes no one went home hungry! The guests made so many positive comments. Well done and we will certainly be back.
While a standard looking Italian menu they have their own take on most dishes. For example the Lasagne with Wagu beef - not minced, proper beef. Very reasonable prices and good measures on wine. Service was excellent.
Really enjoyable experience here last night. We came in a big group and it was the perfect setting for us. The staff were attentive and the food was delicious. I absolutely loved the burrata, so soft and creamy. Plus the calamari was absolutely delightful with the aoili and the sweet marmalade style sauce underneath, it was soft and cooked to perfection! We shared a few mains, but the pumpkin agnolotti was my fav pasta, and the prosciutto pizza was my fav pizza! So glad it’s down the road as I will definitely be returning back here again.
Lovely place for dinner in the heart of Hawthorn. Exceptionally attentive staff and high standard of service. Food was overall really nice, however some items tried were slightly underwhelming. Would definitely come again!
Came here for a work dinner. Great ambience that caters to a big group of people. Lovely food, we had the duck and lasagna which were delicious.
Both of us enjoyed our meals here, shared calamari entree was delish, as were the two pasta dishes and shared tiramisu. Generous portion sizes. Service was quick and friendly. Cost for two including one wine and a soft drink was about $105 which we thought wasn't too bad considering the food and service was good.
Osteria 20 is a stunning Italian eatery on Glenferrie Road in Hawthorn. If you are looking for a sophisticated yet rustic Italian feasting experience, this restaurant should be at the top of your list.
The restaurant possesses a modern and polished feel whilst retaining a warm and familial character thanks to dedicated members of staff that seek to make your experience a pleasant one.
I didn’t really look into Osteria 20 before visiting. Given its location I imagined it would be fairly student oriented: simple, no frills and casual, so I was blown away when i first stepped into its stunning interior! With a lovely outdoor seating area, splashes of...
Will come back for:
+ Seafood chowder
+ spaghettini pescatore
Osteria 20 is a great addition to the bustling Glenferrie Rd strip. It’s a modern space opened up to the street that serves tasty and generous Italian foods, and I think will continue to win over locals. We tried the beef brisket on sourdough bread (this was tender, packed with flavour and came with a refreshing serve of pickles), the seafood chowder (one of the best I’ve had anywhere - fresh seafood, packed with flavour with a nice tang, a must try), the prosciutto pizza (this came on a sourdough base which was a bit different but tasty all the same), and the spaghettini pescatore (this was packed with seafood cooked perfectly - but could do with a touch more spice). Overall, a great meal, generous servings, great quick service with a smile. Will definitely be back!
The food at Osteria 20 is excellent. The prosciutto pizza was the best that I've ever had and the pasta was so fresh - you could tell with each bite! Another particularly notable dish was the octopus salad. The char on the octopus was so so smokey and each bite was incredibly flavourful. I'm definitely coming back here with my whole family!
Great food amazing staff and awesome ambience so its tick on all points .................... definitely coming back here .....................
Quick and kids friendly
Very nice ambience and very spacious. So it is very conducive for large groups, families and prams. Menu was quite extensive and the food came out really quick. Staff were friendly and attentive. Tried the fried buffalo cheese sandwich and it was a pleasant surprise to start the evening. Pasta and pizza were decent and classic desserts were nice.
Friday 6 October 2017 at 9.30pm.
Set on Glenferrie Rd, this should be a really busy restaurant (but unfortunately not).
The staff are friendly and accommodating.
The food is good and tasty 😋
A good choice in Hawthorn 👍🏻
Been here couple of times, and really love the ambience, space and food. Original dishes that tempts, and doesn't fail to deliver. Will say one of the waiters, possibly the manager, who was friendly but kept touching my female companion. Both of us found that off putting. Worth returning, maybe with mum
The serving size was really generous which I got the rally satisfied. Also the taste of the Italian dishes was so classic and traditional, really like it plz just go n try
After a few false starts, Osteria 20 has certainly hit its strides!! Took some friends last night and we had an amazing meal! One friend is vegan and the kitchen happily obliged in creating a funghi pizza minus the dairy. Myself and my friend shared the seafood spaghetti and artichoke wood fired pizza and we cleaned the plates!! A few sides of green salads and beans and we were very satisfied diners. Our compliments to the chefs and the wait staff who were warm, friendly and attentive!! I wish I had photos to share but once the food was presented....well the rest is history as they say!!
A Chronicle Of Gastronomy

Eight One Eight didn’t seem to last very long on this competitive strip of Glenferrie Road, but it’s been more of a metamorphosis than a complete change – the owners revised the concept of the restaurant and changed its name to suit. Osteria 20 is quite a large restaurant, separated into a number of sections that offer different types of seating arrangements. The design of the restaurant allows it to cater to all sorts of needs, making it quite a flexible venue.
Have been here a few times now.
The salmon is just delicious! Wasn’t a huge fan of the lamb.
Starters were tasty - normally go for arancini, polenta chips, meatballs and pizza.
Very friendly staff.
So great to have an alternative Italian restaurant to Rococo
As a new entrant to the ever expanding choice of Italian eateries in Melbourne, Osteria 20 offers patrons a taste of Italy that surely won’t disappoint.
From the generous serving sizes, to utilising only the best of the best ingredients, the true Italian flare is evident in every dish and very bite, and we certainly left having satisfied both our tummies and our tastebuds.
Very local to me, went there last Friday night with girlfriends, really loved it. service was a bit all over the place to start, but improved quickly. We loved our meals, 2 of us had pasta and the other a chicken salad. Going back tonight for my Birthday.
Great night out! Guiseppe took my reservation at 4:30 for a table at 7:00 for four. Asked for a nice table and he delivered!
Food was great:
Primi was a classic bruschetta - 3 generous pieces which were easily shared amongst four - and salt & pepper calamari w Aioli. The humble bruschetta was best, though not a crumb of calamari left behind (very tender).
Mains were the duck leg which was quite an ample portion, perfectly cooked; spaghettini pecorino was fantastic, lots of crustaceans and flavour; pork neck was beautifully presented (the special); and the rib eye was sensational (tomahawk style w roasted potato).
Wines were nice and an initial decanter of cab sauce was followed by further wines by the glass recommended by Guiseppe.
Desserts were light and lovely: pannacotta, cannoli & tiramisu. Small but delicious and followed by a spontaneous and complimentary sweet sherry.
Service was quite good from our lovely Venezuelan waitress working in tandem with the affable and handsome Guiseppe.
Altogether a great night.
Not sure why I'm holding back with only 4.5 out of 5. We'll be back for sure.
A terrific meal and night out for 4 at $305 total.
Oh! Only criticism was the music - a little erratic and sometimes not classy enough for the food. More jazzy and sophisticated please! Sometimes a little too doof doofy.
We shared a fabulous ‘Capricciosa – San Marzano tomatoes, mozzarella, olives, ham, fresh basil ($21.00)’, which had a light and fluffy base.
A lovely space on glenferrie rd. The bar, kitchen and the actual layout is very impressive. We didn't make a reservation but was just lucky to get a table before the place was packed. Food came out quick but was dissapointed with my veal scallopini, as the sauce lacks flavour.I asked for lemon to squeeze on top and i got sent two little slices of lemon. My friend enjoyed the potato gnocchi.
Service is professional. Really enjoyed our visit and we will be back for more.

Came back for some yummy food yesterday and i was not disappointed. Service is genuine, super friendly and professional at the same time. We’ll down guys. Love your place
Fantastic dining experience, with tasty, Italian food done right. The wait staff were lovely and attentive, the restaurant fit out was impressive with a really nice environment to sit and enjoy a meal with friends.
