Review Husband - Melbourne

I had a delightful experience at this cafe. The gentleman who served me wasvery polite, warm and smiley and made me a great coffee. He was very understanding when I needed to get takeaway instead of eating in, and I had a delicious salmon croissant, which is probably the best one I've ever had. Delightful place, can't wait to come back and try their menu when I have more time on my hands.

Had the breakfast burger and honestly was the best I’ve ever had. Beautiful fresh bread, lovely sauce, good size and just all round amazing. Highly highly recommend.

The guy who runs this place is a bloody legend. So friendly, good on the old "remember the coffee" situation, and not an annoying hospo hoverer. There's a small amount of food on offer, in which I have promised myself I will one day partake. A gorgeous local.

This is a terrific little local with a limited menu but one which would cater to most tastes. Brekky was delicious, well presented and perfectly cooked. Excellent coffee.

A cute little cafe with amazing menu options and comfy seats. The service is quick and great! I had the smashed avocado with fetta, chilli and mint on toast which was 10/10 (sorry I was too hungry and forgot to take a photo). The cafe has an awesome tip jar in the shape of a crown and a skull holding down the napkins - it's little quirky things like these that I love to see, something different to the same things you see everywhere else. Very close to Chapel St and definitely worth a visit if you're in South Yarra.

I was delighted to dine as a guest of Husband on the weekend as the owner was one of the loveliest people ever and his passion for what he does and his customers was so evident in the way he was engaging with his locals and regulars which was so nice to see. Gorgeous interiors and a lovely atmosphere (it basically looks like how I want my house to look except I keep accidentally killing all my greenery) they keep the menu streamlined with the option to build your own breakfast which is perfect as it completely removes the inflexibility you find at many cafes which don’t allow you to change your sides. I’m always trying to swap bacon for smoked salmon and my partner is always asking for no bread (the life of the carb free). Generally bread can be removed but the price isn’t amended, here it will be which really demonstrates the value for money. <br/>I got avo on toast with feta chilli and mint. I adored the flavour the mint gave it and my side of smoked salmon came plated as a beautiful rose. A classic dish done very well. <br/>Husband got scrambled eggs with sides of avocado and mushroom. I sampled the eggs which were nice and fluffy. My chai was also sensational and cutely served with a little jar of honey. This suited me very well as I like mine quite sweet but not all do so it allows the ability for everyone to get the balance that they prefer. It’s also a bit more interactive which I enjoy. I also thoroughly enjoyed the caprese salad which was vibrant and full of delicious fresh flavours. Again classic, simple but very well executed.<br/>If you are after a sweet treat I smelt and saw the chef whipping up freshly baked muffins and they also have an extensive range of cakes catered by everyone’s favourite Little Bertha. <br/>Tucked away from the craziness of chapel st but conveniently located just off that main strip, this is the perfect place for an easy weekend brunch

Coffee was blazing hot. Padre brand usually tastes good but this place does not do coffee well. Really sub par for Melbourne standards. Food has been very average as well. There are much nicer places if you walk a little further to Chapel St. Skip it.

OMG it was just FAB!!! f*^%ing loved it 😍 and the staff 🔥 jeebus if you could see the handsome bear 🐻 on the coffee machine. Grrr. And the daddy at the cash register. (Can you say silver fox.) 🐺. WOOF!!

Really yummy food. A salad with salmon and a maple syrup walnut tart to follow was so delicious. Service was great and the atmosphere was calming. Really nice place to come and relax. Anything else on the menu would have been great too. It all sounded yummy and good prices.

Had a couple coffee a couple of times. Often dined in accompanied by a wide range of sweets in a display to rival the best.  <br/>Interior design lends itself towards a a Euro/Scandinavian feel which feels contemporary but cold. <br/>Service is attentive and knowledgable about all types of sweets. Feels local with regulars, but somewhat cliquey

Came here for coffee. Our order got mixed up but eventually they got it right. The atmosphere is welcoming. Coffee was smooth and a bit low in strength. My flat White was a bit too hot too. I would need to visit again for a more positive review.

Living in Port Melb I am honestly the most biggest coffee snob... Came to Husband yesterday about 15 mins before closing for a quick meeting.. Chatting away and when I finally tasted my coffee I think I heard angels... My god your coffee is GOOODDDD.... Thankyou so much for also letting us finish our meeting nearly 20 minutes after your closing time too and not at all rude about it... Thankyou thankyou thankyou.. Will absolutely definitely be back.. Need to try your food!!

I had Almond cap takeaway the other day, the coffee was not hot enough but the taste was great. The price was reasonable. Overall, I felt just okay.

Had a green omelette with Halloumi cheese and a latte. Coffee was ok. Omelette and Halloumi was good but thought the breakfast menu was pretty basic in general. In saying that, prices seemed reasonable so if you want something simple and well priced, Husband is a good one to consider. The seating is also spread out so it's a good location to have a conversation without having to raise your voice.

This is such a great spot to grab a coffee with amazing service from the Husband on duty. <br/><br/>The coffee was a nice blend and not bitter, they do little snack size bites and sandwiches etc and the interior is a Scandinavian feel - a Mecca for mamas in the area <br/><br/>It's a great little cafe here - why wait at the one across the road for hours!!

The owner Donovan makes this place buzz. It's like a community of stragglers that come and get their daily dose of great coffee, laughs and love over the counter. I've had a lunch salad too before but haven't been here enough times to eat...just coffee & love.

Amazing coffee - Great service!!. Simply the best mocha's in this area. Out of all the cafes in this surrounding area, you guys are simply experts in making delicious Mocha's!!

Truly the best spot in the East. Husband, like other reviewers have said, is everything a cafe should be. Everytime I walk in, I feel like I'm walking into my own home. The Owner Donovan is truly the best at making people feel welcome. Husband also has a really delicious collection of preserves, biscuits and sweets for sale, a la the traditional corner store, and I have to control myself from buying all of it everytime I'm in there.

A cafe with presence. If you are looking to escape the hustle and bustle of malvern road, then the Husband equates to those moments when you find just the right song on your ipod that pushes the rush of daily life out into oblivion. At Husband i can switch off, enjoy a great coffee or four whilst sinking my teeth into my study material and work projects. It is a promise kept. Try it and you will appreciate the service and menu. Congrats to Donovan and his staff.

Great coffee, great staff, great decor, it's a fantastic little nook. Donovan the owner is welcoming and so friendly and stocks Jonesy's milk, which Donovan says focuses on paying its producers equal prices! Ticking all the right boxes! Pop in if you can!

Great Coffee in a friendly, warm relaxed space.. My favourite place to stop and have a coffee in the Prahran area. 'Husband' is the kind of place that makes you feel like you're dropping into a mates place for a catch up. Donovan has created a clean, warm and uncluttered space and the customer service is exceptional. There is also a great selection of gourmet cooking supplies and a wide variety of freshly made sweets and savouries to choose from each day. A lot of love that has gone into this place and its present in the attention to detail. Be prepared to wait during busy periods but then again, if you're too hurried or rushed to sit and enjoy a coffee, then it's your own life's priorities that need to be reevaluated. Everyone should take the time to enjoy a coffee!

Prahran's hidden gem!. Husband is a cafe the way a cafe should be. When I go to Husband I feel like I'm dropping in at a mate's place. Donovan's attention to detail is fantastic and his personal service to his clientele is exceptional.<br/><br/>The area around Malvern Road in Prahran is slowly becoming saturated with cafe/restaurants and size and fit out is not always a marker for quality.<br/><br/>You want to go a big flashy cafe with a fit out that costs a mint, because you feel like you are going to some place that's edgy and cool? Go for it. <br/><br/>You want a cafe where the barista knows what he's doing, is going to make a perfect coffee and you feel like its home....Well there's only one place really... Husband

Really?. How do you expect a great service when there is only one guy doing everything.?? Long waiting periods and the coffee is not even that great....

Coffee & Company. The coffee is flawless and the company is even better. Ive only recently tried the Chai and its fabulous (made from scratch, none of that liquid/syrup crap!)<br/><br/>The barista remembers what we like and how we like it and takes cares with it every time, and ALWAYS with a smile

I do!. Great, simple little place. Husband is evidence that a one-man-show really can work when you respect your limitations and love your customers.<br/><br/>Without a kitchen, Husband's menu is confined to salads, rolls, wraps etc but that is more than balanced out by the selection of cakes, biscuits, pastries and savoury/sweet muffins - none of which seem to be the usual mass-produced fare you get elsewhere.<br/><br/>What really makes this place special is the host/owner/barrista/waiter who greets everyone with a warm, cheeky and genuine smile, and makes a brilliant coffee.<br/>Clearly he's built up a regular following of loyal clientele... and its easy to see why. <br/><br/>The only negative is that it can be a bit echoey and noisy (oh and the tables seem to be a bit of an odd height. But probably nothing a firm cushion or two can't fix)

Ever so friendly. I regularly pop in when I'm at work and am always greeted with a smile. This goes a long way. My Chai is always delish & from my colleagues remarks so are their coffees!

Donovan is the sweetest barista. Coffee is smooth and lovely too. Recommend the pumpkin and feta muffins
