đ±Lizzieâs first impression: hidden behind a cooler fridge of Boston Subs, an intriguing entrance and good drink selection
đ©Lizzie enjoyed: They have great cocktails - we had a negroni, whiskey sour and their cider. The whiskey sour was made well and not too sweet. The cider they have is from Berties (a Melbourne owned brewery in Port Melbourne). I will definitely be stocking up on these ciders for myself this Summer because it was simply amazing!Â
đ
Lizzie did not enjoy: although the decor is very nice, the back yard area is a bit of a let down - just four corners with seats - it almost looked it wasn't apart of the bar and it was very limited seating!
đ„Lizzie rates overall: would definitely come back to try their signature cocktails but overall, great vibes, good service and a great concept.

Had a pre-dinner cocktail here with some friends
I love the Hawaiian/jungle theme. It feels like a totally different world compared to the street outside. Also love the hidden bar concept a lot! I wish the space was a bit bigger & more spacious

A nice cocktail that was strong & packed a flavour punch!
Great, charismatic bartenders!
Love this place, the bar is hidden behind a American hotdog cafe. Awesome awesome awesome... a must visit.
Such a cool concept and nice quiet bar.. if you can get in!
Iâve luckily managed to squeeze in a few times but I think the smallness of it adds to the charm. Great cocktails and service!
Great little cocktail bar. Drinks were delicious, service is unpretentious and friendly and ambience was good. Will definitely be back for post dinner drinks.
I made my wife walk from St Kilda station in high heels to get to this place. âItâll be worth it.â I said, and, you know what, it was! No - weâre not having a sandwich. Weâre going through the freezer door and going to a cool âhiddenâ bar. She loved it! Friendly staff. Good cocktails. Fool your interstate visitors... itâll be fun.
A very cool secret bar where you have to go through a fridge at the back of a sandwich shop... freaking awesome!! đđ»
The service was friendly and relaxed. The actual bar had a huge chilled out vibe and surrounded by brick walls and greenery. đż
The drinks were adventurous and tasty! Will certainly be coming back here the next time I visit Melbourne!
Hiding behind the cool room door in this seemingly innocuous sub and fries shop is a cool little tiki bar. The cook doubles up as a bouncer and he chats though a little gap in the wall to the bartenders in the back to let people in.
We were lucky to get a seat in the courtyard. A nice night for it but amongst the smokers and music thatâs a little bit too loud. They do table service and the waiters were nice. Check the menu first, they only have very limited beer and wine, so if sweet drinks are not your thing then itâs not the place for you. Prices have gone up, cocktails are $20.
Jungle Boy is probably Chapel Streetâs worst kept secret. Located behind a freezer door at Boston Sub (which I must say serves up some damn good poutine!), Jungle Boy is a surreal escape from the Chaps vibes. I had an absolutely amazing time at Jungle Boy trying their different tiki themed cocktails. Most of them were pretty potent as the bartenders are quite skilled and generous in their mixology.
There is usually a line to get in, but it's well worth the wait!

Donât be mislead by the facade of this hidden gem on Chapel Street, because behind the secret cooler room door of Boston Sub, you will find âJungle Boyâ â a small yet enchanting Tiki Bar serving delicious cocktails that are made to perfection. The tiki style cocktail menu at Jungle Boy covers all your favourites which are bursting with flavour and most definitely packs a punch.
The Jungle boy is what melbourne is all about. The most hidden and secret bar is the best kind they say. When I was told that Jungle boy was behind a basic take away shop I was in awe. Lucky enough to not wait long and be seated to enjoy some well constructed cocktails. The theme and styling was so great. Loved the service here đ
I love a secret bar with a hidden door. Itâs been my quest to visit these when I travel overseas but if Iâm honest I should be frequenting the locals. Through the fridge door we went into a delightfully dim room with a VERY well stocked bar. We decided to sit out in the little courtyard out back and I decided to leave the ordering of drinks to KD who promptly chose me the girly style cocktails I always order for myself. I felt right at home with classic arctic monkeys tracks and waited in anticipation for of my cocktail. She seriously picked a cracker for me. My cocktail, the Jungle Bird, was a spiced rum with Campari, lime pineapple and coconut. It was tall and flowery and most importantly tasty.
KD ordered the #S.S.F.Y.U which was a Southside cocktail with a cuncumber and ginger twist. Southside is KDâs favourite cocktail and the inclusion of cucumber with a ginger after burn made for an interesting variety on the original.
Really enjoyed our pre-dinner cocktail through the fridge door.
Very cool place and a great vibe. Very small, so no wonder they have a line out the front!
What was a let down was the price of cocktails! They didn't seem like anything special, most had just one shot of alcohol and a bit of juice for $20!
Would definitely be back, but more than happy with a glass of wine.
Food isn't pretentious and well-priced for the generous portions. The bar staff very attentive, particularly one gentleman who must be the manager. Very personable and attention to detail was on point. Clover Club, Charlie Chaplin and a White Lady all very well balanced. My favourite bar on the Southside by a country mile. Like sinking into a warm bath on MDMA. Highly recommended

So you walk into a little diner on chapel street, Little do you know whatâs on the other side of the cool room door.
As you walk through the hidden door you discover a whole new world. Itâs like youâve walked into a Hawaiian getaway.
Staff were friendly and very helpful and the cocktails were delicious.
Go in and check it out.
Great first date location.
Great little hidden bar with friendly staff.
I love the atmosphere and intimate vibe of the venue. It is a small bar but I didn't feel cramped or crowded - plenty of room to move around.
Such a cool little bar. Love that they don't overcrowd it and limit the amount of people coming in. Was full but still plenty of room which was nice for a change! Bar service was a bit slow and the bartender seemed a bit more focused on doing shots but still really liked the bar! Will come back to try the zombie cocktail which gets lit on fire for sure!
Has some great cocktails, different vibe, it's a really creative space and something you should certainly check out for a drink! Estpecially if you have to wait awhile get into Sash or Hawker Hall!
A fun bar to take someone on a date or a visitor from overseas due to its "secret" entrance through a fridge door. Great cocktails and intimate vibe. On a busy night expect a long wait!
I absolutely love this place and how you have to walk through the fridge to get in. It's a very small place and its usually packed on the weekends so make sure you get there in time! My favourite is the thrilla gorilla which is more a dessert than a cocktail - yum! Update: they've take it off the menu đ I ended up getting a lemon and raspberry cocktail which was nice but meh... nothing compared to the thrilla gorilla.

We all love hidden and mysterious places. It makes us feel special! That's why Jungle Boy is such a good idea :) I'll just tell that I went through the fridge door and what I found was a tiny but great sexy bar. I loved the tribal concept, the vibe.. It's awesome! I'm not a cocktail lover but I wasn't let down, the wine was superb! The only downside is that you usually have to wait in line to get in. Or maybe that's part of the mystique as well!
Ah the secret bars of Melbourne. My friend has been telling me for years there is a hidden bar in a fish and chip shop on chapel st. Well incidentally it's actually a sandwich shop called Boston sub and once you endure the extraordinarily long wait you will be granted access through the fake fridge door to a super fun tiki time. That lychee and rose daquiri is next level and the decor is a tropical wonderland. The cocktails aren't cheap but are generously poured so you really won't need too many. Unfortunately it's an extremely small space so be prepared to hover and and if your friends are notoriously late and useless at finding fake entrances you may find yourself waiting an hour for them to get in as I did. Love love love the concept
The cocktails at jungleboy are full of flavour and pack a punch, not lacking in alcohol I found two to be enough for my evening out.
Jungleboy is hidden behind a fridge door, making it an exciting night out. Be sure to bring a small group however, as the bar is quite small and once full has a 'one-out-one-in' policy.
Jungle Boy is a hidden cocktail bar, hidden behind Boston Sub's fake refrigerator door. It is a place you wouldn't know existed unless you have a friend who knows about it.
If it's a busy night you may have to wait before you are allowed to go inside. It is very small and has limited seating.
The cocktails here are pretty awesome though. I ordered the Grasshopper - this is like a chocolate milkshake with Christmas spices! Perfect dessert drink! One of my friends also got the Zombie. It is served in a very interesting glass! This drink is very strong though so be careful!
The bartender is fantastic!! He is very talkative and easy to talk to.
If you can find it definitely try Jungle Boy!
A very small bar that can get very cramped. I like the cocktails and the bar staff were pretty good at their job. I just wished it was a little bit bigger as it was borderline uncomfortable.
Ăber cool bar. Great venue with super friendly and attentive staff. The perfect place for a cheeky wine or cocktail. This would be a great room to lockout for a private function.
Popped in here last Saturday night whilst waiting for our table at Hawker Hall. As you step into the shop front you have no idea what hides behind "The Fridge door!", this funky bar is all class with great cocktails and a great range of boutique beers.
Do yourself a favour and drop into Jungle Boy...
This place is hidden behind Bostonsub sandwich shop. Interior is interesting! Feel like you are in middle of jungle and excellent music taste. Bartenders are very entertain and friendly. Cocktails is the must!!
Great place to grab a drink whilst waiting for your table at hawker. It's quite small but fills up quickly. The cocktails are on the pricier side.
Jungle Boy Windsor is not the kind of bar that you simply stumble across. Why? Well itâs hidden behind the door of what appears to be a commercial refrigerator at the back of sandwich shop Boston Sub.
Cool little bar hidden behind a takeaway food shop-front called Boston Sub. From the front you would never know there was a bar behind but you walk through this freezer door and end up in a cool little bar decorated as a jungle.
This place is so good. My new favourite bar on chapel.
To get to Jungle Boy, you have to excuse yourself past the kitchen, pretend you know what youâre doing, and open the walk-in freezer door. Iâm awful at looking like I know what Iâm doing, but we managed alright!
