Very family friendly restaurant, the owners are good friends with my best friends’ family. They took me there on a Saturday morning, the cafe was very busy but the personal connection was still there. They accommodated for my vegan dietary requirement, the bread that I had my smashed avocado on was crunchy and crisp whilst the avocado mixture was smooth and citrus. My flat white with soy milk was also really nice. Good job guys! ❤️
Check out Olie and Ari's cabinet display! They have yummy muffins and some tasty baclava! If you're feeling like something sweet head down to Were st Brighton!
They also do a mean hot chocolate, a little pricey but it comes with a dark chocolate bar on the side 👏☕️🍫🍫🍫🍪🍩 And the breakfast was hearty and very warming while sitting outside
Been going here since I was 12 and it is always the place I go to for a quick and tasteful lunch. I would recommend this place for a coffee brunch or a catch up lunch.
A lovely cafe to go for breakfast. A well made coffee paired with a top notch BLT, I left with a smile on my face. My one and only down point is the spacing of the outdoor area, where by no fault of the cafe is the fact when eating outside you are facing one way, which makes it difficult to engage in face to face chat, otherwise a great little spot!
Great coffee. The service is absolutely first rate and take away coffee orders are handled with speed. Breakfast is also pretty quick and consistent.
If you are lucky, you will see Eric Bana come through.
Service was very relaxed, but delivered a big breakfast beautifully cooked & presented with only the best ingredients used......
The coffee was lovely too.....
Well done guys we'll be back.
Visited Olie and Ari this morning on a whim and will definitely be back! Fast efficient service with a friendly atmosphere. My coffee was delicious and the green eggs and ham the perfect size. Great quality produce used too! Can't wait to come back for a longer brekky next time
Friendly staff, great coffee. They smashed out my 10-12 takeaway coffee order in no time. The cafe looked really nice and is definitely somewhere I'd come back to if I was in the area
Have been back to this place twice as I love the dukkah fried eggs but the service is always so hit and miss. They see you come through the door and watch you sit and then that's it, until you go and get some help and then you go to pay and it's always total confusion. Shame as the food it good.
Olie & Ari is a hidden gem in Brighton.
With lovely staff greeting you on arrival and a relaxed, family orientated atmosphere, Olie & Ari is a great place to visit for a bite to eat and a coffee.
The menu has a wide range of delicious sounding dishes. With many options for both breakfast and lunch.
I visited Olie & Ari at lunchtime, I went for a chicken baguette with free range chicken, avocado, mustard mayonnaise and rocket, it was delicious, the baguette bread was fresh and crunchy!
They also offer an extensive kids menu, including a child’s favourite, soldiers! The space is very open and you can enjoy the sun by sitting near the large windows, making for a lovely view on a warm, sunny day.
A really enjoyable dining experience, located on a quiet street and a modern industrial interior, a must visit.
I love O&A. Everything they do here is fantastic - firstly, the awesome coffee (try a silky smooth long black); secondly, the breakfast menu is interesting and slightly different to the standard fare. The eggs shakshuka or the homemade baked beans are my favourites! Staff are great and helpful.
One of our locals, great coffee, great service and very nice food. Would recommend it to anyone wanting to try a hidden local in Brighton. Cool exposed brick and trendy lighting adds to the experience.

Must be an Armenian. Driven past a few time and noticed the name Ari in the café's name. So popped in for breakfast and sat facing the kitchen/counter. 6 young people contantly hurring about productively. Ordered my latte from a young lass, it arrived promptly with a bottle of water and menu. Placed the menu down and Gary appearred to take my breakfast order. Breakfast burger with fried egg, spinach, mushroom and chilli jam. Very tasty. Bun could have been toasted a bit more to help contain the fillings. I asked about Ari and was told it was short for Ararat. A fellow Armenian.
A casual and relaxed cafe. Great fresh food, awesome coffee and staff that understand customer service.
Harry leads a great team!

Love the food. And the waitstaff are polite and friendly. Happy to call this one of my faves!
One of the best brekkys I've had in a long time thank you! Okay coffee and okay service. Great interior!
Ex Brighton resident now in Brisbane back to visit the family
Yum!
Great menu.
Great food.
Friendly staff
Homely feel.
See you at Xmas!!
Coffee and Food. Coffee: 8/10. Friendly staff. Food is delicious. Like the hot chocolate with extra chocolate
Jase. By far the best cafe in Bayside, brilliant coffee (thanks to the guru Nobu), fantastic food, best service and the staff are all incredibly friendly. Just wish they'd open up another cafe in Gardenvale now we've moved...
Great cafe!. I really like Olie and Ari. The food is great, the cafe is very roomy and the service is friendly. The menu has a great selection and is available to order at good times. Yummy coffee too!
I would suggest they get a website though. I tried to go here a few times over the Christmas period and realised it was closed, tried to ring once to see when they re opened and it just rang out. Website would be helpful to communicate etc.
DINER REVIEW. Lovely food with decent portions. Both times I have been here I ordered the quinoa breakfast salad served with cinnamon walnuts, honeyed yoghurt, slivered almonds, sultanas and other delicious bits and pieces. My family all enjoy it, and whilst the food servings aren't large enough to fill up my dad, they should be for the average person.
Would recommend and can't wait to return!
Lovely. After reading the previous comments, I decided to also give my opinion about this lovely place. It is with such sorry, when I read the disappointed comments below....I guess everybody is different...
It's my new favourite around this area. Love the industrial design, farm like long rustig wood timber tables.
As to food, I personally haven't tried everything, but the quinoa with orange segments and yoghurt is my favourite! Had also the chicken wrap and my friends had burgers and salads. Everybody seemed to chat less while eating...which obviously meant- they enjoyed their food. Not cheap, but what is nowadays? Coffee is pretty good, not too weak and warm enough...service was extremely friendly last two times I've visited.
Thank you and I will be back!
Went here last week for brekkie, loved the interior. The waitress sat us down but then I think she forgot about as as we waited quite a while until another waiter noticed & brought us some menus. It was quite early so it wasnt busy. However apart from that little mishap it was an enjoyable place to eat. I had the warm quinoa salad with dukkah & yoghurt which was really amazing, good size & satisfying. I would happily give this place a second go.
Really good food. Chicken panini is YUM!!! Avocado and feta on toast also yum. Great addition to were st shops. Hard to park at peak times though. Good coffee too.
Nice Breakfast. So good to get a great LARGE STRONG latte. The almond croissant was also great. I ordered the special English muffin with spinach smoked salmon and lemon hollandaise - all good but too small for $15.50, I'd expect 2 eggs not 1 for that. It was good food but if you're hungry order a pide or wrap.
Great food, good coffee and fast service. What more could you ask for?
Love the furnishings and has pretty decent coffee! Porridge and toasted muesli are two dishes I usually get - worth trying!
Finally - a great place for kids!. I recently went in for a meal with my two little ones and actually left more relaxed than when I entered (not an easy feat with two kids!) The staff were great with the kids and the quinoa salad was to die for. A great mocha rounded off a lovely meal. Will definitely be back!
Don't Miss It. Popped in with my friends last week. The coffee was to die for and the atmosphere was great. The friendly staff made us feel right at home!
Nice food but the service was a little shaky. I was there for a late lunch during the week and they could have sold us more drinks and probably sweets if they'd come and asked. Will go again though as the food was great.
Good with kids. Good coffee and blueberry smoothies. Also like the smashed Avo fetta and mint on toast.
Nice Coffee. Really nice coffee. Warm and friendly service
Best place in Brigton to have delicious food and great coffee. I love the food, the service is excellent . I LOVE IT.
Haven't had any food there yet but the coffee always delivers!
Friendly staff & great food. I often go to Olie & Ari the coffee is great - their breakfast is spot on. The homemade baked beans are one of my favourites. Love it.
'Olie & Ari' - Elegant and satisfying new dinner menu.
133-135 Were Street, Brighton
Olie & Ari - Turkish, Armenian-style dishes, featuring a range of pidés, middle-eastern-style tapas with fresh authentic flavours and a contemporary twist. Sound like something you'd expect to find on Brunswick Street, Fitzroy? Try Were Street, Brighton.
'Olie & Ari' has slipped under the radar of food writers perhaps because most expect to find the best nosh in the other side of the city, or because they are simply unaware that this fine café has recently extended its hours to incorporate dinner as well.
For entrée we enjoyed a share plate with a mixture of middle eastern tidbits - a yoghurt cheese - light and crumbly, a lentil pattie - like a mildly spiced felafel, pickled turnip and best of all a delicious rose water-flavoured carrot salad. The combination of flavours were elegant and complemented each other perfectly. By itself the share plate is a perfect snack for two.
I enjoyed my choice of pumpkin and toasted pine nut pidé. My partner's prawn chili and fetta pidé was fresh and full of flavour. Each pidé is made from scratch, baked fresh and served to order. The tasty fillings complimented the pastry.
A light but well-rounded Innocent Bystander Pinot enhanced the range of flavours. We were impressed by the variety of cocktails on offer but because of the need to drive home didn't think more drinks were a good idea.
Olie & Ari's atmosphere is easy-going, the lighting producing a relaxed environment to enjoy an intimate meal or group dinner. The service was friendly and efficient. Our mains appeared within twenty or so minutes of our entrées.
Brighton might not be somewhere one associates with an elegant no-nonsense cafe serving pleasing traditionally-based food - but Olie and Ari's is well on its way to changing that perception.
'Olie & Ari' is open for breakfast seven days from 7 am. and dinner Thursday to Saturday from 6pm. For bookings phone 9529 2929.
Fills a niche in the area. Really good coffee, great selection of unfussy food with a twist. Love the wraps, salads and foccacias.
Interesting room and fit out but very noisy. Tables are a bit too cosy as well. Could do with better ventilation as well, don't like smelling the restaurant on my clothes all afternoon. Service was excellent and the odd smile wouldn't go astray.
Despite being busy the service was great. Started with a first class latte and hard to beat Chai. Menu has good variety with something a little different. Food was great. If you live nearby give it a try.
Yum!. Been here twice and love this place! Appears to be very popular with the locals. Excellent coffee and great food with that home-made feel. A few different things on the menu and lots of choice. Funky decor and bustling with people, however not overwhelmingly so. Lots of individual tables as well as a large communal table.
Particularly enjoyed the avocado mash with feta and mint, and the chickpea with dukka on sourdough. Lots of enticing dishes being taken to other tables. Will definitely be back!
Best coffee in the area. Menu Is great, nice twist and executed well! Great addition to were st
Fantastic feel and fitout. Pick on the menu is the marinated figs with ricotta or the Armenian pizza. Will definitely be there again soon.

Great decor, prompt service, simple food done to perfection! The avocado, mint and lime smash was to die for not to mention the blueberry brioche french toast! I will definitely be returning 100% satisfaction
Noise and ordering fiasco aside, the food at Olie & Ari is brilliant. I had poached eggs with smashed avocado and haloumi (and mushrooms, which never arrived). The eggs were well poached, and the avocado had been smashed with a very nice fetta indeed. But the haloumi stole the show. You know how haloumi is mostly a bit like a chewy musical instrument? It’s delicious, but as previously discussed it’s rubbery and squeaky. The cheese on offer here is worlds apart. Soft and creamy, it crumbles like an emotional teenager.
I've been going to Olie & Ari sporadically for over 10 years and the quality has remained pretty consistent. The prices are also pretty good considering the area which is a bonus. The kind of food they've been putting out is still the same and hasn't been changed a lot. While some might see this as uninteresting I appreciate the commitment to providing good solid options that have shyed away from being over-complicated.
I'll continue coming here, not for a uber fancy brunch, but rather every single weekend for consistently good coffee and eats.
The wagyu burger was sublime the coffee perfect
No fuss all good
Not sure the rating does this justice, perhaps the demographic don’t do google reviews? Easy a 4.8. I’m from Perth and go in once every 2-3 months, fantastic and consistent coffee, even more impressed Harry remembers my name and that I’ll take Flat White.
Awesome service and great menu! Great place for a weekend breakfast.
Many months ago o had lunch here with a choral group from St Peters nearby. It was a terrific place to chat and chew as they say. Lots of variety foodwise and friendly staff who did not seem to mind how long group stayed while eating drinking and bla blaaing!! Do try it... its different and less conventional
A beautiful place tucked away - and the staff are lovely! Very accomodating with our childrens needs.
Great coffee (and consistent). Decent selection of food options as well. I also rate highly their bacon and egg sliders. Professionally run cafe that makes handling large customer volumes appear relatively seamless. They also have a good system during C19 to promote healthy social distancing & hygeine measures to protect customers and indeed their own staff (which is good to see).
Good food and coffee, a bit noisy.
