I love the comfortable and homely feel of this cute cafe in Kensington. Staff are really friendly and chatty, and the place is often full, with lots of locals coming here for the fantastic coffee and food.
With an interesting menu and yummy treats available, I always manage to find something delicious to eat when I pop in. These guys also do a fab takeaway coffee, and it's one of my favourites when I'm in this part of town.
One of my faves since moving to Kenso six years ago, and I've never been disappointed! Excellent coffee and great menu choices that are a bit different to your standard Melbourne brunch fare. Very reasonably priced too. Great gluten free options. Friendly and efficient service. Eggs poached to perfection which is a rare find these days and all food looks amazing. Had the brassica classica and unlike salads in other Melbourne cafes, it is very moreish and actually a decent portion and filling.
There’s a few brunch offerings in Kensington and we opted for FOP for their spin on the eggs Benny. Theirs is served on a potato hash and drowning in apple cider hollandaise. How divine. The poached eggs were cooked perfectly and the hash was crispy and hearty. Friendly and prompt service, this is a lovely dining spot along the sunny Bellair Street strip.
As a Kensington resident, I found this cafe’s mocha is so far the best around the neighborhood.
I do like the coffee from Pepper, but their mocha is not as good as this place’s.
The service is good, people who work there are always warm and nice.
The brunch menu provides a lot of options, and if you don’t want any meal on the menu? Don’t worry, customized meal is always an option.
I love the chat potatoes there, as well as the eggs Benedict. The cheese cakes are also worth a try. :)
The eggs benedict with ham hock was delicious, my poached eggs were slightly over cooked but not enough to ruin the dish. The hollandaise sauce has a delicious apple cider flavour, which works so well with the ham hock. Great dish, I highly recommend it. My partner was also extremely excited because they served 'spiders'.. and yes it's true, some people never grow up. My chai latte was also fantastic. Overall, it was a great Saturday morning breakfast in the sun.
Friyay lunch date with husband who's just come home from a work trip. A quaint little place with a great atmosphere, service and lovely prints that were available for purchase. I had the halloumi + zucchini fritters and a hulk juice. Husband had a classic chicken + avo and a skinny latte to boot. Lovely food. Lovely staff and a beautiful spring day. What more can you ask for?
Best Soy Latte in Melbourne!! Absolute love that this place is in my local area! If your not from the Kenso area, defiantly make a trip for the coffee!
Just across the road from Kensington station, this is a great little cafe to grab a quick bite for lunch when I'm working from home. Coffee does the job most of the time.
Hmmm, this place was a mixed bag on the day of this visit. My Eggs with Attitude was great, loved the spicy chorizo hit, but the ricotta hotcakes were a disappointment. Hotcakes were massive and very stodgy, lacking any real flavour except the masses of chocolate sauce. Coffee was good. Give thos place a go but just be wary of what you order!
Another Local Place delivering quality food.
Me and a fried stopped by here on a Tuesday around 12pm and it was not busy but not quiet either considering it was mid week and most people were at work. We were greeted and seated immediately being brought water and our coffee order taken. The Coffee's arrived fast and hot, me going for the classic flat white and Hilda a latte. The latte art was ok but not the best for Kens'o and therefore did not qualify for a photo. Taste wise the coffee was ok but again not the best in Kensington.
We finally looked though the menu and ordered., I went for the Breaky board and Hilda just opted for a pastry as she had already eaten. The food was delivered fast an to good standards. The Board consisted of a single slice of sour dough with smashed avo and a poached egg, a small orange juice and a pot of granola with yogurt. A good amount of food and reasonable value at $19. Fresh and flavorsome and a good choice especially if you want a couple of things on the same plate.
The Pastry was nice, and from their cabinet i am sure the others were great too a wide selection from cheesecake's to brownies and muffins. I will be back to test those for sure. The service was great and consistent across all the staff who interacted with us. I'd avoid the coffee here not that its bad there is just better locally.
Restaurant Type : Brunch Cafe
Friendly local cafe with top notch food. I love their breakfast board which means I don't have to decide before a sweet or savory dish. Always hard to resist getting a muffin to take away too!
Love this place. The berry and white choc muffins are unmatched anywhere else (think caramelised white-choc edges and a generous amount of choc & berries inside and on top). Good vibes and lovely staff.
Had Scrambled Tofu for brunch- love this creative and flavoursome vegetarian dish! I am a regular customer and have never been disappointed with their coffee. Friendly service too.
I have been to fruits of passion a couple of times and I am liking it more and more. Most recently, I had a chai latte and the pancakes. Both were tasty. My only quibble is that the pancakes could have had more of the mascarpone and toppings, as my last few bites were quite dry, and the topping hadn't been spread all over. Service is very friendly, and food arrives promptly.
Delicious Eggs Benedict and freshly squeezed orange juice! Unfortunately not a very nice latte. But good for a hearty breakfast before hopping on the train, would come here again.
Been going here off and on for a long time. Still love it, but I was disappointed with a 'Sweet Thai chicken Salad' today. It seemed that there may have been an absence of the right ingredients in the kitchen, and the chef just made do with what he/she had available. Or perhaps it may have just been a deliberate revamp of that dish. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't close enough to what I expected, and wasn't really good enough to justify it as a revamp, if that was what was intended. At $18.50, I thought it was overpriced.
Having said that, it won't stop me from returning to Fruits of Passion, as this little tiff in our relationship isn't big enough to break us up. Yes....I still love you.
Great place with great hosts. They are friendly and chatty, which makes for a great dining experience. A small place so it may be hard for big groups. My salad was fresh yet had a good portion size to keep my full. Yum.
2yrs ago I wrote a bad review about this cafe.
I take it all back, The food, Fresh pressed juice, Great friendly staff made the experience Awesome!!
I will be back :)
Fruits of Passion (188 Bellair Street, Kensington) is our usual takeaway coffee place almost every weekend before we head off to the markets.
Best take away coffee in the area. Keep up the great work guys.
Love how they remember my coffee order and they even deliver to my car when the kids are in the back.

Best Coffee. Love the coffee from here. Staff and super friendly too and they remember your order. Best local coffee shop.
A great place for breakfast on weekends, the scramble eggs are the best, multigrain bread to die for, coffee is amazing, good size fresh squeezed frut & veg juices (unlike at The Premisses on the corner), the place is clean and homely, friendly staff - if you're one of those looking forward to a great breakfast experience over the weekend in Kensington, look no more!
Thumbs up. Great coffee, friendly staff. Will be adopting this as one of my regular cafés. Fattoush salad is spot on - love ya work! :)
I love my coffee extra hot hot. Love this place. I always order my coffee extra hot. and somehow the staff always get it perfect. love tge willingness to put up with my switcharooS in the menu. they are flexible and always happy to adjust. fan for life FoP..cheers

+4.5
Love this place. I've been a regular to this cafe for years.
Delicious food. Great coffee. Smiles all around. Amazing staff.
My favourite coffee spot!. My girlfriend and I are here at least once a week and it's become sort of a tradition.
Got to have their mocha (one of the best in Melbourne) and the chicken burger!
Love this place!
Great alternative to busier Kensington cafes. We went to Fruits of Passion on a weekday as the other cafes in the street were too busy. I had an amazing salad- fresh ingredients and unique and lovely flavours. The staff were very friendly, efficient. Will definitely go back.
Out of all the cafes on bellair st, this is the best! Coffee is incredible & iced coffees are also amazing. Passion eggs is a must for breaky!!!
Friendly staff. Not that cheap, nor a big range from what to choose but staff seem very nice and accomodating if you want for example some more hot water for your herb tea! I had a nice chicken wrap thing for 10 bucks - don't think I would want to pay more for some of their breakfasts but I think nice atmosphere and pick of the cafes in the area.
Best Coffee In Melbourne!. I have been visiting FOP for over 5 years and these guys have the best coffee in Melbourne, to that Food Critic who said he waited an hour to eat, you cannot judge on one visit, but you must have gone peak time, and to judge them on that is not really a true reflection of the cafe at all.
NO pretentious feel, and down to earth environment, and I must say I have to avoid the Muffins out front almost always (being healthy now), they are to die for especially the berry and white chocolate, delish!
The food is awesome and service is always fun and friendly, thanks Fruits!
It has an awesome atmosphere :) very well set up and 2nd time I have been back! Coffee is tastes good and I'm picky with my coffee! Seasonal fruit pancakes where delicious and so was the eggs Benedict! Would recommend for a catch up with family or friends :)
Fantastic spicy chai. Great corn muffin with salmon and eggs.
Best coffee in kensington!!!!!!
Awsome breakfast and coffee .... Awsome breakfast and coffee
Great service with great staff
Best coffee in Melbourne! Very friendly crew.. Enough said.
Awesome. Another trip today to my favourite cafe in Kensington and as always great service, very warm and friendly from all staff members. I have been meaning to write a review about Fruits of Passion for a long time now and todays trip was just so good I had to say something.
They are very consistent with the prompt and efficient service, whether eating in or ordering takeaway and even when its extremely busy as it can be (also a sign of a cafe on top of its game).
I have now been converted to Vittoria Coffee after never really rating it too highly but now love it and can't wait for my next one.
The food is awesome and I can definitely recommend the ricotta pancakes and my personal favourite the Banana/Dark Choc/Caramel Muffin. I have never in my life tasted one better!
So get on down to Kensington and visit Fruits of Passion you will not regret it.
Definitely a new favourite. I was a bit reluctant to try this cafe as the reviews regarding the service were so scathing. I couldn't have been more surprised then when the service was fantastic - really lovely, enthusiastic and attentive staff. We were given water at the start, offered coffee immediately and all orders were taken without noting anything down (not an easy feat for 3 people who each had specifics for food and drink). The food was great, the coffees good and the overall experience was really positive.
We will definitely be back!
Yummy pancakes and freshly squeezed juice my regular for breaky!!
First time here. Delicious. Corn muffins with perfectly cooked poachies and fresh mango and berry juice. Yoh just can't wait to taste the coffee!!
Really good :). Cute place with really good, cheap food. Coffee was good and eggs were great! I had Passion eggs = sooo yummy! Staff were fun and friendly and the food was very prompt. Definitely will be coming back.
I hated Vitoria before coming here. Baristas consistently good, friendly vibe. Great little local!
I go here ALOT! whether it's for a pick up coffee and some banana bread or the delicious eggs Benedict on a Sunday! The service it good for how busy they can get and they never Seem like anything is a hassle! They learn who you are quickly and what your "usual" is! Love this place so much!!!
For coffee lovers - especially mocchas. If you're a fan of moccha lattes, then this is one of the best places in Melbourne to go. It can depend on who is making them, but 95% of the time they are great. They use real chocolate buds, so you get a genuine chocolatey taste, and no need for extra sugar. A bit more expensive than normal, but worth the $3.70. I can, however, sympathise with those that have complained about the waiting time. During busy periods, they can be notoriously slow (I go about mid-afternoon and have no problems). I have got to know the staff relatively well over time (though they have changed a bit) and found them quite friendly and accommodating. Don't really know about the food - but go for the coffee.
Best brekky on Belair & coffee is amazing. Have been a regular here on weekends for over a year now. The wait staff are real characters. Love it. 2 very enthusiastic thumbs up!
Must have improved in the last year.. Very friendly, good menu and not anywhere near as slow as mentioned in older reviews. At first I was a bit intimidated by the young trendy staff - "is this my kind of place?" But in all honesty they are first class and make everyone feel welcome because everyone is.
There's a highly rated coffee place a few doors down, but I've not felt the need to go yet. This place is just so comfortable and the coffee is spot on.
The coffee, the Bircher muesli and the ambiance - Bellair St is really cute!. The ambiance and the food are great!
Best and slowest coffee (up to 20 mins if take away) in Kensington. Trademark pancakes and amazing porridge.
Great coffee and breakfast. Lunch nothing to write home about.
The coffee is beautiful but service crap. The coffee is beautiful but it is ridiculously slow. This morning I waited 10 minutes to get served while the staff gossiped and ignored us with noticable attitude. I ended up leaving without coffee or breakfast. I have been loyal to the cafe for 7 years but am over it. the menue hasn't changed it takes 10 minutes for a takeaway.......this morning I went to the new place 2 doors down coffee was great service speedy and fresh and food lovely. Sorry fruits but you've lost me.
Coffee is great, staff are friendly and effecient, food is good and well priced. Highly recommended.
Pros : Nice service, AMAZING milkshake and decent coffee. Food was all good.
Cons: Wife says her scrambled eggs were a litte overdone but still good.
Little bit pricey but not insane for similar cafe's.
The staff and service was great. The coffee here is amazing. One of the best lattes I have had in a long time. Had waffles for breakfast and they were well portioned and beautifully presented and tasted amazing. We will definately be back and might give the French toast a go next time.
The food was amazing! I ordered the Cheesy Chipotle scrambled eggs on a croissant and it was mindblowingly yummy!
My partner's coffee was good and the hot choc I got was made with actual molten chocolate and soooo delicious! It was a great find and we'll definitely be visiting again to explore their other brunch options!
What a great place to have Brunch great service friendly helpful staff ...
Great menu to choose from whether it's a coffee to takeaway or just to order or dine in. Plus you can modify your order as I did today ...much grateful it was superb 👌 I shall be back 👏😀
Sat outside had the FOP fritters, really nice , not a clue what was in them but so good. My partner had eggs benny which she enjoyed. All the food coming out looked good. Staff were attentive and friendly. Looking forward to another brunch there.
To the staff member who was working Monday 11th April & served my mum while I waited outside with my puppy- the beautiful message you wrote on my coffee cup was so thoughtful. My beloved senior dog was at that moment in hospital receiving chemotherapy & we decided to get a cup of tea while we waited- your small gesture gave me some hope & lifted my spirits. Thank you 💗
