A nice cosy Korean restaurant with friendly staff. We ordered the Beef bulgogi and cold noodle set which was quite cheap for the generous amount of food given. The noodles were soft and chewy and mixed well with the cold soup. The bulgogi was okay but the meat was well marinated. The spicy ramen - well cooked noodles and the soup was nice and spicy.
The rice cakes were well seasoned and had a sweet yet spicy taste. Only downfall was the rice cakes were quite small compared to the menu photos - able a thumb length.
Corn cheese was great. Generous amount of cheese and the corn was sweet.
Darac Grill & Bar was a Korean restaurant located quite hidden on A’Beckett St in the CBD. I was told they were famous for their stews, so we decided to order their Pork Shabushabu sausage stew with ramen and a side of corn cheese. The stew was massive in portion (enough to feed 4!) and came with a nicely balanced mix of vege and meat. The soup was very flavourful, and of course everything was so fresh as it was cooked right in front of you. The restaurant itself was quite small and stuffy unfortunately, but service was friendly and prompt.
We ordered take away over the phone, and picked up, staff was really nice and the food was good, spicy but with a taste, and the amount was pretty big. Would recommend
Small cosy restaurant tucked away in A’Beckett street with amazing ambience. I ordered the cheesy pork ribs with extra cheese and the bulgogi set with cold noodles. The extra cheese on the ribs is a must get as there is nothing better than stretchy chewy mozzarella wrapped around tender pork ribs which fall off the bone!!!
Korean army stew - delicious! The stew was so flavourful especially with the spam and tuna even though it was a bit hard to find. Good on a cold day.

My score 3.75 stars. J and I had lunch here on Tue 1st Oct. Young woman who served us was very good, attentive but without being in your face. Room temp was lovely and cool. Dimly lit and had a “lived in/slightly tired” feel about it. 5% discount for paying cash (if bill over $30). Water was brought on arrival and refilled with no fuss. We had the “Choose 3 items” lunch plate deal – Large size at $14.50 (or 14.90?) each.
J had "Tempura" prawn entrée - crumbed and fried (2) with sweet chilli sauce. Crunchy outside, moist inside - nice. Tofu steak - 10 cubes of soft tofu, teriyaki sauce had gone to bottom, so not highly flavoured. Onion capsicum blend tasted nice though, as it was coated with the sauce.
I had Takoyaki entrée - Really nice, crunchy on outside, nice and gooey on the inside (4). Nice creamy smoky flavour, good mayo and soy sauce on the outsides. Spicy prawns - 4 to 5 larger prawns, with plenty of small shrimp and capsicum and onions. Sweet chilli sauce that was less sweet and more chilli-ish (in a good way), than commercial ones that we've had. A fair size meal!
Both sets also had - A little piece of baguette, to mop up at the end. Steamed rice that was not as hot as it could be. Edamame which were OK. A fair amount of salad with a refreshing light dressing (stopping it from being dry, unlike some places).
Hite pale lager ($6) – Was ok, but wouldn’t have again.

I’ve always loved the bimbimbap here and finally had the chance to come back. The rice was so crispy and douse it with their hot and mild sauce which makes it much tastier.

Went there on 2019.08.02 with one of my best friends to celebrate the end of our first week of new semester hahaha we ordered 쇠고기 +냉면 set for just $18 and 떡볶이 and I love the 떡볶이！My friend cannot eat things that are too spicy and she considered it as the greatest one. We went there at abt 18:00 and waited for abt 20 mins so if you wanna go reserved first. Love the friendly staff！진짜 맛있어요!!!!

A very popular Korean eatery along A’Beckett Street. We came for a quick late dinner on Friday night and it was still bustling with customers.
We tried the Beef Bibimbap and the Sausage with Spicy Veg. The bibimbap was alright, but would definitely recommend asking for hot sauce as it was lacking in flavour and was not spicy. The spicy sausage dish was nice and it came with whole cloves of garlic which we found interesting! Nonetheless a tasty meal.
I’ve also tried the army stew here a while ago which was alright - not the best but not the worst!
I haven’t been able to find a Korean army stew better than the one at Darac! It’s served on a gas stove so the stew stays hot and is perfect for two people. The stew is thick and rich in Korean style chili sauce. It’s served with all the usual suspects: beans, sausage, rice cakes, noodles, kimchi and egg. There’s different options to choose from as well. Writing this is making my mouth water thinking about it.

Bustling place. Still very pack at 8pm on a Friday. Very bibimbap. I recommend you ask for spicy sauce. It's not really spicy. Just flavourful. Interesting spicy garlic dish. Came with lots of whole garlic. Would definitely recommend. Lots of people ordered the army stew.
The staff here is so friendly and patient! We ordered hotpot for lunch and it came really fast. It wasn’t the best Korean hotpot I’ve ever had but the hotpot tastes alright.
My favourite place in Melbourne for army stew/budae jjigae, it is seriously so good on a cold Melbourne night. I think they have a lot more ingredients compared to other restaurant I’ve been to. It seems like most people come here to get the army stew.

We dropped by Darac today for a quick lunch, and found it quite empty. It was only until we settled in that a couple more people came in. We ordered a hot stone bibimbap (beef) as well as Gyu Tan Shioyaki (pan-fried ox tongue). The hot stone bibimbap was really filling, and the hot sauce provided good seasoning, but wasn’t spicy at all. The pan-fried Gyu Tan Shioyaki was quite chewy and nice as well. As I’ve come here a couple times before, I was surprised that the lunch menu wasn’t available when we went, but we went ahead and ordered from the normal menu anyways.
Darac provides good value and is quite filling, so I’ll definitely come by again! Also, there’s a 5% discount if you pay by cash!

We order the pork belly, chicken wings and beef noodle. The taste is so nice!!! The chicken wings is so tender and juicy. The dipping sauce with it match perfectly. The beef in the noodle is a bit sweet but the noodle is so chewy and I like the taste. The pork belly is good but just normal nothing special. many tables order the stew, will try next time.

Me and my friends go here often if we want to go for a great Korean feed. Specifically, we continue to rave about their Korean Army Stew or Buddae Jigae as they would like to call it. We have also had an extensive range of their other food options in the menu and have thoroughly enjoyed it. Food portions are also very generous. Service can be sub-standard at times when it gets busy. You do get 5% off if you pay by cash which offsets some of the above.

The dishes taste great with reasonable prices. The waitresses are polite. I may go there again. The only problem is that it is really smoky there. I guess maybe some exhaust fans will help.
I came to this restaurant last winter. The first thing that I like from this restaurant is their services. The waiter & waitress were very friendly and helpful. I ordered army stew and lunch set with beef bulgogi and takoyaki salad. The army stew was good, it was perfect for winter. For the lunch set, the beef bulgogi was not that good, but it wasn’t bad since my son loved it. The takoyaki was very yummy (it was the best takoyaki i’ve ever eaten in melbourne so far).
I forgot to take pictures of our other dishes because I was hungry, sorry about that! I’ve been to darac a couple of times for their army stew, but I wanted to try something different. Their brisket and LA style ribs (not pictured) were so juicy and tasty. My partner got the pork which he said was okay, but not amazing. I got some chicken and wing drummettes that were also soft and juicy, but I wish they had given me more sauce.

I’ve come back here again and again for their budae jjigae. I can never get enough of it, its one of the best in melbourne, i’ve always ordered the pork one with extra ramen. next time when i come back, i really wanna try the other budae jjigae flavors they serve

Located just opposite the RMIT basketball courts on A'Beckett, is Darac. Good value for the quality of the food, the quantity, the variety, atmosphere and the location. Clearly the joint is popular as the restaurant was fully booked upon arrival. We came as a group of eight and were seated outdoors under a heater. We split into two groups and ordered dishes to share.
Must try: LA galbi ribs, beef bulgolgi, soft tofu stew
The best army stew I have never had! The staffs are nice, they are really nice as even it’s during peak times, they kept smiling and gave us the best service.
Also with the rice wine set, we had corn cheese, seafood pancake and the egg roll, they are all delicious.

Good place for the army stew. Various types of army stew are available depending on what ingredients you feel like. Would be the place when you want to have an army stew. I'd certainly back again for it and will be the place whenever my friends want to have the army stew.

First attempt to try the famous army stew. It was awesome! Delicious during winter the hot and spicy soup with ramen noodles and rice cakes was unique and nothing I’ve tasted before. Can get very busy on Saturday nights, so come early. Felt abit squishy as the tables are put very close to each other. Great place, will come back to try the other hot plate dishes.
A quick work lunch option for me. Using the pencil and paper method of ordering, you can expect a large lunch for a very reasonable price that is varied and tasty. A little hidden down A'beckett St, I definitely think it's worthwhile for a quick lunch break.

In a cold weather, perhaps what you really need is a heartwarming soupy dish. Darac's Army Stew is indeed a good fit in regards to that. Darac serves authentic and tasty Korean food. It is usually jam-packed with people during peak hours and this shows how popular this place is!

Love this place. Pork Rib is a must have, it reminded me of ribs I had in Bali. If you want to taste one of the Korean traditional foods, give Army Stew a try. This place is best in town for it. Friendly staff. Highly recommend!
Can’t believe I haven’t been here earlier!!! They specialise in Army stew among other Korean specialties, which is the perfect winter warmer. We ordered the Spicy Seafood Sausage stew w/ ramen. We also ordered seafood & kimchi pancake and cheese fire chicken. Definitely enough for 3 people. They don’t muck around with the spice here 😂🌶 the soju is a bit overpriced, $7 for Yakult Sprite Soju but could hardly taste the soju. Would rather pay more to get a Yakult Soju jug with no sprite. Definitely would come back to eat this again!
My go to place for Korean hotpot. Had the pork shabushadu which was delicious. The portion is very generous. Also had the fried chicken wings which was crunchy but super soft on the inside. Definitely recommend both items. However a downside is that the pot for the hot pot was very shallow which caused the Soup to continuously spill out or was quickly evaporated causing some of the ingredients to stick to the bottom.
This cozy little place is always packed and there’s a line waiting when I was there. Good thing it was only two of us and I got a table after 15 minutes wait. I ordered the Pork Shabu Army Stew with extra ramen noodles. The portion is perfect for 2 and if you are planning to order more sides, its can feed 3. The flavour of the soup is rich and creamy due to baked beans! The pork belly is really yummy and fresh too! The ramen is perfect as well, just make sure don’t overcook it or it will be a soggy mess. The service is quick and friendly. I recommend it, especially in this cold Melbourne winter, if you are after something hearty and comforting.

Definitely get the army stew here !!! Nearly every diner was having this dish in winter and it was warming, moreish and delicious. Love that there's so many variation to the army stew and they add more pepper paste into the soup as well. Service was super efficient ! Unfortunately they didn't have desserts here! That was the only letdown!

If you’re gonna eat Budae Jjigae in Melbourne, you gotta go to Darac. Nice and simple, taste is like Korea too. My recommendation: Spicy Seafood Budae Jjigae. Get a rice to enjoy it with, and don’t be afraid to ask the friendly and kind waitresses to give you more soup broth (but most of the time you don’t need to ask, they’ll just do it for you). I also tried one of the soju cocktails last time, it was tasty and also cute! Recommend that too! Thank you Darac!

They get quite busy for dinner. I always walk in and occasionally queue for a table. I think there's some sort of a booking system but I've never utilised this (always an impromptu decision to head here).
My favourite dish here is the spicy chicken bulgogi - lean meat, great value for money. Although on my most recent trip here, with the new menus, the word spicy has disappeared from the chicken bulgogi! (was spicy enough nevertheless)
I enjoy the army stew during winter - I often select the spicy sausage seafood stew.
Be prepared to walk out with a strong smell of korean food on your clothing. There's also a discount if you pay with cash, so bring some along!
Well priced for the quality of food. I didn’t get to try the famous army stew but will definitely come back to try it! Ambience is also very different to your typical korean restaurant.
Had lunch here with mum. The food was very nice, just what we craved. The soup was a kimchi and cheese base which had the flavour of all the ingredients combined. We had rice with it but ramen seems like a good option too.
Situated cozily at A’Beckett st, this place is a no-brainer Korean place to have easy dinner with my friends. We absolutely love the army stew, especially in chilly weather - it’s so warm and good! I’ve tried several army stews but I always come back to this place because it’s the best so far.
The reason I didn’t give them a 5 is simply because the place has loud music (which makes it hard for me and my friends to have a nice convo while dinner), and not to mention crowded too (the staff gets too busy sometimes).
Overall, nice place to have something warm, but not a great one for catching up with friends.

We like this place a lot for their soupy Korean food, it’s always fairly busy but never too long to get a table. The only annoying thing is not being able to choose our own table, let your customer choose!! We are the ones paying right?!

We got the bulgogi bbq set and teboki, along with a couple of cocktails.
It's ok if you don't know how to do Korean BBQ, they staff here are very tentative and always keep an eye on your food, they will turn the meat and adjust the heat accordingly. The Kim chi stew that came with the bbq set is perfect for a cold night.
Cocktails were mediocre, however at $9 it's too cheap to take a star away.
I will be back! Although highly recommend making a booking, even if you do come at 6pm for early dinner
Our large group were provided a table quickly on a weekend with no booking. We ordered the Korean BBQ with extra beef and the portions were great for the price. We enjoyed everything and the service was great.
Super cute and cosy. Me and my partner went in during the lunch period. We got a bibimbap to share since neither of us were super hungry. It was pretty tasty. Looked nice too, I regret not taking a photo. Really liked the aesthetic.
