Milkbar on Fordham is such a cute cafe with milk bar theme! We started off with coffee and PB banana smoothie. The coffee was amazing and the smoothie was tasty!! We ordered fried chicken burger and baked salmon from their lunch menu as it was already 10.30am. The baked salmon has a really good mix of flavours and generous portion of salmon too! The fried chicken was a bit on a dry side but the chicken patty was good. Staff are friendly and attentive! Overall a very good place to have Sunday brunch

We visited Milkboy on Fordham’s and absolutely loved it. From entry to exit, we felt like we had stepped back into the past and enjoying a traditional Australian Milkbar ... with all the cosiest vibes.

The Fritters - which definitely won my award for best looks. 🔥🔥
The Granola - which was such a perfect way to begin the day. Very light but filling and the mango roses on top were just the icing on the cake.
The Waffles - these were deliciously sweet. They tasted fresh and had strawberries on top - so a big win in my eyes.
The staff were also really wonderful and accommodating.
Overall, we had a fantastic visit and would definitely recommend this to anyone!
✨ Quick Tip - Parking is a little more difficult on week days as it is directly opposite a train station. Everyone seems to have parked their cars for work, leaving limited day parking options.
The oldest milkbar in Melbourne has been turned into the most chic cafe (@milkboyonfordhams ) 😍😍😍 I was completely blown away by the cafe’s inclusion of its historic layout within the new interior 💕💓 Not to mention the amazing menu that accompanies it 😙💜 We absolutely devoured the ‘Chilli Scramble Eggs’ and the ‘Smashed Avocado Bruschetta’ 🥚🍳🥑

📝: Felt like I travelled back in time as I stepped into this cute little used-to-be suburban classic milkbar. With sweets and candies lined up along the shelves on the wall, it brings back nostalgic memories of childhood.
❤️: Look at this beautiful Vanilla French Toast—brioche with chai maple ricotta, berry curd, meringue, toasted almonds, and fresh berries. Sorry to have started with the sweet, but I’m a total sweettooth. Now, the savories were just as delicious though, both the Benny and Lamb Shoulder—so tender, served with a fresh yet filling salad.
@milkboyonfordhams a quaint old milk bar adorned with a candy wall, a place where you can indulge in some childhood dreams! The food was second to none as well, with a meringue French toast, a tender yummy lamb shank, and the ever classic eggs benny! All tasted damn delicious!
Invited to lunch at this cafe that has an old school milkbar feel. It is spacious and has plenty of outdoor and indoor seating.
We tried three things; coconut granola, chilli scram and lamb shoulder.
The coconut granola is completely vegan. It's plated beautifully and a good portion size. The panna cotta was firmer than most and not the smoothest texture, however it still tasted great. Also a bit of mylk or milk on the side would improve this dish. 4/5
The chilli scram was great. Eggs cooked perfectly and that house made chilli sauce is delish. 5/5
Finally the lamb shoulder, this was our highlight. The plating was on point, the portion size was perfect and the flavours were popping! We did not expect so much flavour to be packed into that pressed shoulder. Highly recommend ordering this if lamb is your thing. 5/5

It’s a cold and wet day, we are running from the train and find ourselves at this quaint old milkbar. Inside is a warm and welcoming cafe, served by young and friendly staff. We sat ourselves by the window, next to the candy wall station, and ordered some food and coffee.
We order the Vanilla French toast which was topped with meringue - holy mama! That was tasty!
The benny - my fav! Served on a potato Rosti this thing went down a treat!
Finally the Milkboy burger - this boy was a beast! And I think I inhaled it.
It’s got a lot of locals, it’s exterior and interior are humble and historical that it makes for a beautiful cafe experience!
We ordered a Milkboy burger and chips, kid's nuggets and chips, ham/cheese/tomato toasties and the fried chicken. Food was delicious! Loved that the kid's chicken nuggets weren't processed commercial ones.
Service friendly and prompt. Loved that there were remnants of the old milkbar. Kids chose some cheap gimmicky toys.
Conveniently located just across from Hartwell Station and a cute playground.

Historically, this place used to be a milk bar and was renovated into a cafe. The milk bar theme is kept throughout with the decor and presentation of the food.
The food here is delicious! The porridge was very tasty, rated by my friend as the best porridge they had. The burgers are not normally worth ordering at cafes, especially when you’ve visited as my burger joints as I have. However, the beef burger from here was amazing and I’m glad I decided to try it out, very flavoursome! While, the eggs were creamy and the truffle oil provided a great taste (I’m a sucker for truffle). The shakes were presented in old school long tin cups, which is definitely nostalgic of the milk bar milk shakes. They were rich and delicious!
The staff here are very friendly and provide prompt service. Great place to visit in Camberwell, tucked away from the hustle and bustle and a great atmosphere for any occasion.
Read the menu and want too certain but it was delicious! Fresh and tasty and piping hot. Great friendly service. Kids toys under the stairs and a playground across the road, we enjoyed ourselves.

Myself and my partner visited here just after Easter weekend, so the area was still quiet and it wasn't too busy at all. This was so relaxing and made the lunch super intimate and special. The staff were very attentive, despite how quiet it was, and honestly, the whole thing was seamless!
The food was beautiful; classic like the concept of this milk bar, and yet, flavoursome + memorable. I love how many vegan options are available, and that for once, even the granola/Panna cotta is vegan! It was super fun to get experimental with a few different dishes and to try the smoothies as well (which were sensational). I'd be back in an instant to this café! Nothing but good things to say on my experience!
Fantastic place, massive outdoor area perfect for kids, as next to the playpark and train station. Coffee is always delicious, staff are super friendly. New menu is great, something for everyone and the lollie shop is amazing! All my favourite sweets as a kid!
Nestled on a suburban strip in the back streets of sleepy Camberwell, a perfect spot for morning brunch. The orientation means you're protected from the harsh sun so sitting on the pavement enjoying the fresh air is the easy option. The food is very pleasant. Classic flavours and well executed. Scrambled eggs are fluffy and just cooked. A fried chicken banh mi piqued interested and duly delivers through a slightly chillied coating and fresh Vietnamese style salad. A cute playground opposite entertains the children capping off this special location.
Amazing. My fiancé and I hadn’t attended the newly managed fordhams since it’s previous owners and we’re amazed that the quality of the staff coupled with the excellence of food had been retained and bettered! The new menu was amazing and my fiancé and I would highly recommend the Banh Mi, with a western touch to a Vietnamese classic. Despite being busy the staff were attentive and provided professional service (I have found lacking at so many places recently). Well worth the trip from Springvale, cant rave enough!

Fordham’s Milk Bar is a gorgeous local hidden gem. I would definitely recommend ordering one of their hot chocolates. Best I’ve ever tried!! And so many great options to choose from on the menu, I’ll be back!
**New menus alert** We had the dukkah eggs, big boss breaky with coffees. The chorizo in the big breaky was beautiful! Dukkah eggs comes with a round pita with fried eggs in top of it. Had 1 ball of falafel & some crumbled. Everything was delicious. Staff was lovely, helped with my decision making by suggesting popular dishes. Great music playing, that added to the atmosphere of this cosy, rustic cafe. The toilets are up two flight of stairs, so might not be suitable for some people. They have a great outdoor seating, with a children's park right opposite. They have a magazine stand with Nat Geo & gourmet food magazines. Overall a good experience. They have a great choice of display good. Location is off the main street so no noisy traffic. Great local joint!
Fordham's Milk bar deserve a straight 4,
PLACE: comfortable and bright, enough space inside, as well as enough tables outside for warm and sunny days.
PRODUCT: which is the food and its presentation was really good. I had a delicious sausage rolls, which I've never had anything similar to that, and my partner enjoyed her fantastic vegetable pastry all served with salad.
PRICE: was reasonable for the product and location and finally

Located in a former corner store next to Hartwell (train) Station, you can’t miss the rainbow umbrellas outside Fordham’s Milk Bar, one of Australia’s longest continually running milk bars at 105 years!
At Fordham’s they delight in the old school. When you enter, it’s more like the old school milk bar with shelves stocked with old-school lollies (think raspberries and cream, pineapples, and sour straps – my personal favourite) next to classic hard-to-find soft drinks like Passiona. There’s also plenty of freshly baked and created sweet and savoury treats.
The other side of the building is the cafe. Tiled topped tables, some inlaid with foreign currency in the corners, and cosy wooden nooks furnished with cushions for comfort. It’s a very personal, comfortable space. If you prefer some fresh air and choose to sit outside but it’s a little nippy, then there’s a big basket of blankets to choose from.
Proudly displayed behind the coffee bar is a delightful record player complete with rows upon rows of vinyl records. The playlist blends old favourites and a few more modern tracks (Right now the MaCoys Sloopy Hang On is playing and previously The Beach Boy’s Surfin USA and Roy Orbison’s Pretty Woman were playing.)
The two dishes I’ve tried and loved were:
The Famous Egg & Bacon Roll – there’s a reason these bad boys are famous! Fried egg, a generous portion of bacon topped with caramelised onion, sliced tomato, herb mayo & rocket on the softest bun.
Zoodles – these guys have been making zucchini zoodles cool since before you heard of them! Fordham’s top theirs with roast pumpkin puree basil mint dill chilli & crumbled feta.
Fordham’s is about as local as you can get and truly deserving to be on any list of best places to brunch in Camberwell and Melbourne!
Buttermilk and Ricotta hotcake - i really really recommend this food for you guys to try! the hotcake was fluffy,milky and perfect! With the choco chip ice cream,caramel dipping oh my god!take me back to fordharm please......
Double double burger - the fries was crispy, the meat was tender and cooked perfectly. Fresh vegetables and amazing mayo on top of it.
Chai latte and coffe was up to my taste!
The place was calm and quite. The staff was very nice. I’ll be back for sure!

Thoroughly enjoyable breakfast and great coffee. Friendly and attentive staff. Milkman’s Tray was the perfect breakfast platter, although I did take the cookie home with me! My son loved his Sundae Waffles, which I must say he reluctantly let me have a small taste and they were delicious! Definitely coming back!

The atmosphere is very chilled and friendly. A milk bar type setup for a cafe is very interesting. The mocha was quite nice, uniquely the chocolate syrup was separated to allow the consumer to add as much or as little he/she likes. I believe it’s my first time to have ponka eggs, which I quite enjoyed. The serving was perfect, not too stacked on and just enough to satisfy. Overall an enjoyable experience.
Love this place. We stop here on the way to kinder and love the fact that it has a lolly section where you can choose lollies. Coffee was pretty good and the food was just as good. Must try.

A great tucked away cafe near hartwell station. Worth the stop off the train! One of my dining partners ordered a mocha - said it was the best he's ever had. Banana bread not too special. Would go again
Located opposite the Hartwell train station and a special train themed playground, this place is very popular on weekends. Lots of people bring their dogs to sit outside even though there's no much space.
Acai smoothie bowl and Sunday waffles were great choices for breakfast. Tried the savory muffins previous visits and they were fresh, warms and delicious.
Service can be quite slow on weekends but always very friendly especially the manager who always asks you about the meal no matter how busy it is.
Soy chai tea was really good and so was the mocha.
Had been dying to check this place out. Last time we drove passed it was being renovated so glad to see it's back in action. Had also read some recent reviews and thought it was worth checking out.
Initially when we came in, the music was fairly loud, however once it was filled up it didn't seem so distracting.
Coffee was lovely and the food nice. We weren't blown away with any of the dishes but it was well priced, and had no real negatives. We tried the waffles, hotcakes and the big brekky. Waffles were great, but were probably not enough to fill you up. The big brekky was a full plate of food though. They also have a huge cake/sandwich display. We took some caramel slices for the road. They were not too sweet & had a oaty flavor in the base....delicious.
As a whole, it's a really nice place. Great location, easy parking and across the road from a gated park. The waitstaff are also easy going and friendly too.

Been here several times and always love it! Came in on Sunday morning as a party of 6, we booked 45 mins before arriving and that was no problem despite the place being full as we arrived!
We were immediately offered drinks and the waitress was extremely knowledgable of the menu and helped make recommendations for our fussy eaters.
Food came out at a reasonable time considering how busy they were, easily enough time for 2 coffees (which were delicious and strong)
I had the Avo mash with corn purée and beetroot and goats curd whip, flavours complimented each other and nothing was overpowering, very generous serve if avo too. Also tried the egg and bacon roll, sooo much bacon, which was a little undercooked for me but that's personal preference, loved the herb mayo, definitely a meal sized e+b roll! The rest of my group all enjoyed their meals including the panko eggs and a big breakfast with generous side serves
Would definitely come back here for the friendly staff, the coffee and to try more of their menu!

I've been to Fordham's several times now and there always seems to be a crowd. Located in a small strip of suburban shops just opposite Hartwell station in Camberwell this little place truely adds a quaintness to the neighbourhood. I believe this"milk bar" cafe has been open since milk deliveries were made by horse and cart (creative license may have been used here) but it is the longest established milk bar in Melbourne. It has a range of amazing looking grocery items as well as being a cafe.
We sat on a share table near the entrance and coffee counter and observed a steady stream of activewear folks popping in for their takeaway coffee hit. The space doesn't lend itself to huge stroller prams but they seemed to be trying to accomodate families which is a good thing (I guess). I ordered the Panko Crumbed eggs with chorizo and a sweet potato hash. I've seen Manu criticise crumbed eggs on MKR and totally disagreed with his comments then... these crunchy textured eggs are delicious. I first tried these at a cafe called Lil Boy Blue in Kew (currently closed) but am glad to see them popping up elsewhere. The sweet potato hash was a great addition as well. Kelisi just opted for poached eggs on sour dough with a hash on the side which did surprise me given all the other interesting breakfast options. Sometime you just want something familiar though.
Staff were really busy and it actually was a 2 coffee wait for our breakfasts to arrive. Good thing the coffee was a hit 👍🏻

Food presentation was great, and the staff here were just gorgeous souls! Each staff member was lively, fun and helpful with the menu. The interior is bright, cheerful and comfortable. Panko eggs with sweet potato, haloumi and hollindaise was the highlight dish! Mexican and chicken burgers were both thoroughly enjoyed. If you order a milkshake, it doesn't say on the menu but they come malted, which I wasn't expecting! So if you don't like malt, let them know! Herbed mayo was perfect with the chips. Beautiful display of cakes, and lollies and other treats too (it is a milk bar after all!) do try.
Stepped in briefly for a snack and a coffee. Had a cheese ad tomato toastie and a large latte. The toastie unfortunately was under seasoned but well toasted. Coffee was quite yum. I would like to return one day to try their larger menu. Lovely place to sit and chill- blankets provided outside for those chilly winter days!
Really nice little cafe opposite a park, with a great view. We literally got the last table available which was lucky as there were 3 of us. I'm assuming there would normally be a wait however there is a fair bit of seating so don't stress.
I ordered the Panko hash to be different and this was a hit with me. Everything gelled really well and I'd definitely get it again. Check the photos.
The service for the drinks was a little slow but hey it was a Sunday and I'm in no rush.

Plenty of outdoor seating (about 6 or more tables) adjoining a park which also has a few seats. Menu contained a lot of variety and it was good to see some vegetarian options in the form of a baguette. Good prices and nice atmosphere.

Cute little suburban milk bar. Went for a walk with the family and dog to enjoy the park across the road and decided to pop in and get a juice. The place felt very comfortable and had great atmosphere.
Charming little brunch spot in the heart of Fordhams park! Decked out like the traditional old school Aussie milk bars including a self serve lolly shop! Includes all the breakfast favourites and a range of beverages from cold drip deconstructed coffee to the classic Zooper Doopers! The coffee is always exceptional and we've always been impressed with the quality of food! Really missed this place while under renovation and now it's back and better than ever!
Recently re-opened after a refurbished environment to allow for improved customer service. This milk bar has everything and more that the original milk bars contained.
Even large jars of lollies that can be bagged for treats.
The food range is on the increase with a new chef and the quality of food remains healthy and plentiful.
Coffee excellent and should you wish a slice, muffin or biscuit - be tempted and enjoy.
Friendly staff welcome you and the boss will always remember your face.

Found this little gem today when searching for somewhere to brunch half way between my friend & I, great decor takes you right back to your childhood right down to the lolly bar. The food was scrumptious I had the scotch egg with haloumi with added mushroom it was so good and my boyfriend had the chicken BLT it was huge & really tasty. The staff were great very attentive I think we were offered drinks orders multiple times with in minutes of sitting down. Highly recommend this place to anyone
Really special hot chocolate. We can add chocolate depends on our taste. Pork burger ( forgot full name already) is extremely yummy yummy. Store will renovation from next week but kitchen still available during that period. Highly recommendation

Fordham's Milk bar was such a fun and cute experience, I loved everything about the ambience of the place. Such a cool, kick-back cafe, the staff were also extremely friendly. The place looked like an old-school milk bar, one side you'd dine with great food and the other where locals would come to the milk bar and buy stuff normal milk bars would have but better! I had the scotched eggs and I very much enjoyed it, my partner also loved his dish - elements were fresh and the presentation was pretty! The latte was also on point! Would definitely come back to try other dishes.
What's not to love about Fordham's Milk Bar? Soo chilled just after 6.30am on a Monday morning. Probably for a reason! The weather is lousy. "Are you walking in THE RAIN?" asked the friendly wait staff. "Yes.' We usually add that Whippets are British dogs and love this dismal weather Lol. Mostly true cos they can run harder/longer in the cold. (In summer they can overheat in under 2 minutes).
So....Zest roasters do a House Blend for this cafe. How was? Quite fabulous, actually. Not overpowering but still full flavoured. The Latte was a great way to start the day and week! Ticked all the boxes.

Fordham's Milk Bar cafe have a unique character with a vintage milk bar decor concept- very cozy and colorful environment. Aside from the decent coffee and food, what stood out for me the most was the extremely well defined and friendly customer service!
On a busy Saturday afternoon noon, we were seated promptly. Coffee here was fantastic- medium flavor strength and a good extraction. For brunch we sampled the big and hearty breakfast & the prawn tacos- the prawns were juicy and tender mixed with a crispy salad dressed with a high impact zingy dressing. All produce was fresh and of excellent quality.
Having a chat to the owner was lovely, he was always on the front line ensuring a smooth business operation and diner satisfaction.

A really cute little cafe that provided a great atmosphere and experience. Three of us came here for a late brunch around 11am on a weekday and were seated immediately. There is very convenient two hour parking on the street right around the cafe.
The cafe has a modern and casual vibe that is really nice, with self-serve cutlery/napkins and simple but comfortable seating. It is not a huge space, but there are quite a few tables, plus shared areas and bench seating, and there is enough space between tables that you don't feel like you are part of another group's conversations.
For food, we ordered the brekkie burrito, the scotch egg and the pumpkin soup from the specials menu. The burrito was tasty, it was definitely a very generous serving (I couldn't finish it!) - there was a lot of egg mixed with the pulled pork in a toasted wrap. The salsa was refreshing and definitely gave it the Mexican flavour, however there were a few chillies in there that I found left a hot taste in my mouth. The scotch egg looked really good - a perfect egg yolk in the hash brown, and the haloumi looked delicious. The pumpkin soup was quite a generous serving (also couldn't be finished!) and came with three well-toasted and buttered slices of baguette, which was great. All three dishes were presented in a really professional and fancy manner, which we all loved.
For drinks, we were unable to order any of the milkshakes or breakfast shakes, as the cafe was in the middle of changing their menu (which was disappointing, as they had very interesting flavours), but the mocha I ordered and the chai tea my friend ordered were great too. The mocha came as a latte with a pitcher of chocolate with it, which was a cute and interesting way to present the drink - there was leftover chocolate for me, so it can definitely be made quite sweet if that is your preference (and maybe there was a hint of honey mixed in the chocolate?) The chai came in a generous teapot along with milk, which was very cute. My friend managed to have about 3 and a half cups from the serving, so it was definitely value for money!
The service was friendly and quick, and the overall vibe of the cafe was really nice - it was a place you wanted to hang out at, and perfect for the wet and gloomy day. Overall a very nice experience, and we'll be back to try out the lunch menu!

Milk bars are hard to come by nowadays after the rise of service stations and extended hour supermarkets, but offering a wider array of groceries, food and coffee has enabled some to survive. Fordham’s Milk Bar has been around since 1915, which itself is an impressive feat, and it’s conversion into a cafe was only completed 4 years ago.
The food quality here is amazing and fresh; but many factors hold this place back from its potential to be much more. Staffing and management was very poor this particular morning, we waited 50 mins for a table when we were told 20 mins, our coffees came out cold, people around us had their orders mixed up or missed so many did not end up recieving their meals. Wait staff appeared flustered and disorganized. When we went to pay the bill, the owner was very sincere and obviously knew there were problems with the service - he was generous and understanding, took our feedback and compensated for our frustration. Tip; this is a great place to eat - MAKE sure you get in early, but if it appears very busy on arrival, you can make the choice to wait 1.5 hrs until a table was made up for you and food is ordered, or save some time and go elsewhere.

The owner was a delight to talk to and the staff were so attentive. The milk bar aesthetic really adds to the experience, and takes me back to my days as a little girl.

Fordham's Milk Bar is a cafe/milk bar in Camberwell, located just opposite Hartwell Station on the Alamein line. The cafe was a lot bigger than I had imagined, with plenty of seating both inside and out, and a whole display cabinet area and drinks section to choose from. I was surprised I hadn't heard of the cafe before, probably because it's quite hidden in a little street in the suburbs, and you might not think to venture there unless you were going to the train station.
The cheeseburger, sausage rolls and Greek lamb wrap are all favourites of ours.
Haven't been for a while so we will have to make another trip soon!

Love the interior of the cafe too, set up super cute with milk bar themed decorations making it such a nice atmosphere. Keen to go back asap to try the rest of their delicious food on the menu.
Fordham's Milk Bar takes me right into the Eastern Suburban heartland of Camberwell. Nestled on the winding road of Fordham Avenue, this transformed Milk Bar is now spread over two shops facing the Alamein train line and conveniently opposite a park and a one of Melbourne's popular bicycle trails.
I popped in with a friend last week for a coffee and a quick bite to eat. Mid-week it had a steady hum of traffic with plenty of small groups and the outside tables were all taken so we sat in a sunny window overlooking the park.
Great looking menu with all the usual suspects, but today it was a simple serve of Banana Bread with a sprinkle of crushed meringue, that was all demolished quickly and some well made Noisette toast with Jam that was perfectly toasted.. Coffees were good and they had Almond Milk which made me a happy little vegemite..
I'd happily pop back in and try the rest of the menu and full marks for the old Tarax Sign inside.
A cute, hidden milk bar....oops, cafe! That's right, this old school milk bar has transformed to a Melbourne-style cafe. Maybe a new management or a new chef but their menu has raised a hot fuss in Camberwell. Their menu is on paper that's from the 90s, the food is sublime 👌🏼 Coffee is aight too
It was a unique concept as to how a milk bar is transformed to a cosy cafe! Such a shame they weren't doing the milkshakes cause of the new menu. Nonetheless, I had the hash brown scotch eggs and it's by far one of the best scotch eggs I've had! Food was tasty and just full of flavours, everything was cooked to perfection :) place was crowded by 10am, so do prepare yourselves for the weekend crowd even though it's located amongst a quiet housing area.
Beautiful old school local cafe with absolutely delicious food. Had the hash brown scotch egg with haloumi, beetroot hummus, Spanish beans and grilled asparagus - simply delicious! Hot chocolate was served in a very rustic wooden plate :)
Love this little place, especially on a sunny weekend - really nice relaxed atmosphere outside & cool decor inside. Feels like a little country town. Really friendly service although a little slow, good brunch food and coffee.
Delicious eggs for breakfast, recommend the baked beans 100%! Service is a touch slow on a busy Saturday morning but good vibe and really friendly staff.
Not just a simple milk bar, Fordham's is the perfect place for a pleasant brunch in the suburbs, with friends, family and kids. Delicious-looking home-baked and externally-delivered treats; fresh sandwiches; homemade sausage rolls; and a good variety of breakfast/brunch/lunch items to choose from. The French Toast Pancake Stack comes doused in maple butterscotch sauce, and fresh berries to make you feel a bit healthier. A crowd-favourite is the Sweet Potato Hash Brown, which also comes in a stack, topped with zucchini, haloumi and a poached egg. Highly recommended!
Pretty good coffee here. The service here is good the staff are friendly and very attentive. The atmosphere here is pretty cool and enjoyable!
I came here with my boyfriend after hearing amazing things.
It was busy, we waited about 10 mins, and had to move tables midway between our meals, but we understood because there was a new table of 3 and there was only 2 of us.
I had the haloumi fritters, they didn't look like much, but BOY WAS I FULL! Coffee was yum too, reasonably priced food.
When we went to pay, the girl accidentally charged us twice as much and when i asked to see the receipt she ran and got someone else and just left us.
but other than that, great experience!!

The location, staff, food and decor are so welcoming for a family lunch or a reasonably large brunch catchup on a Sunday morning. Yes you can reserve a table and it isn't one of these pokey cafes that have 'bar' counters.
The place still is a milk bar hence the name and still sells the sweets and milk etc. These guys were also featured on a to show about food.
The 4 of us turned up around midday on a Sunday and was greeted by a short wait for us (was expecting a long wait)
The order for us four consisted of:
Mexican baked eggs
Slow cooked pulled pork burger and chips
Two lots of bacon rolls and a portion of chips
Two flat whites
Total was around $75 a little high? I'd say it's pretty average price but the portions are generous and the taste is really good. Toasted sesame bun with the pork burger was a nice welcome change from a brioche bun.
Full and juicy meat.
Egg and bacon rolls with rocket salad looked yum with the melted yolk oozing out.
Baked eggs were a special on the menu and you should definitely check out the specials

The cafe is in a great location just across the road from a park to have a nice stroll after a feed 👌🏾 being out of the camberwell junction makes parking easier. The salmon omelette was much better than expected I can't wait to come back for another 😊 would like to see more salad options . The cakes looked delicious also and love the old milk bar still included 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Situated oppose to Hartwell train station. This is a cafe along a small strip of shops. Was an existing milk bar converted into a cafe. Still sells milk and the food is yummy with good coffee. Very kid friendly a favourite hangout for me and my daughter

The idea of this place is fantastic; a milk bar/café in the middle of a suburban street. It holds the old fashion milk bar feel, selling lollies, chocolates, Sunday morning staples and fresh sausage rolls, as well as being a funky little Melbourne café. It’s a great local spot for us, within walking distance. We’ve been a few times, and we never leave disappointed. Great for a caffeine fix mid-assignment. This place is always busy with families, couples, dog-walkers the lot! But you can always find a table without a lengthy wait. Every time we’ve been seated straight away.
The staff are ever-changing. I’m not sure what the go is, but I always see a bunch of new faces amongst one or two regulars. But for the most part they are friendly and hospitable. A few times I’ve been ignored or been made to wait to pay while they send a text or choose a new song, but those are not regular occurrences.
After waking up on Sunday morning, we were tossing up between a few places to eat breakfast. I was hesitant about Fordham, because I was starting to grow bored of their limited breakfast menu. However, the convenience won us over and off we went. To my delight, they had updated the menu and added a whole heap of delicious looking breakfast choices! I was so excited I couldn’t choose just one! So naturally, I went for the ‘Milkman’s Tray’; Smashed Avo & Poached Egg on Toast, Granola bowl w Greek Yogurt and Milk, Orange Juice & a Cookie. This collaboration of dishes is a growing trend amongst cafes, where they give you a sample of a few different meals in one! The key word there is sample!! Every other time I’ve tried this meal, it comes out with miniature versions of two or three menu items. Smaller portions. When the Milkman’s Tray came out, I was overwhelmed with the size of it! Smashed avo with poached egg on one slice of toast was okay, I get you can’t really alter those portions, so that was fine. However the granola was huge! It was at least three times more than I normally serve myself at home. I got absolutely nowhere near finishing it. The flavour was unfaultable; fresh ingredients, chewy sultanas and cranberries (a nice touch you don’t find in other granolas at cafes) and the Greek yogurt that accompanied was also nice. I just felt wasteful not eating it all. If I had just ordered a bowl of granola, I’d appreciate the portion as a big breakfast. I feel as though they are wasting food and money by serving up this amount of granola in this dish. Anyone who orders this dish, I’m sure, would be satisfied with a smaller portion and would not feel ripped off. Another thing that excited me about this dish, which I hadn’t seen anywhere else, was the cookie that came with the meal. However I was so disappointed with my cookie. It looked fantastic, but as soon as I took a bite, it was the most bland, flavourless cookie I’ve ever had. Definitely needs some work. Some might say it’s no big deal, but if you’re going to try and make your dish stand out from all the other cafes serving a similar dish, it needs to be for the right reasons. It’s not hard to bake a delicious choc chip cookie. You don’t want to serve customers a dish with three delicious elements and one horrible one. All the elements of the dish need to be great, or else they shouldn’t be included.
The new menu is a fantastic move, but there definitely needs to be some slight alterations to maintain the level of quality that Fordham usually holds. Despite this small hiccup, I would still recommend this place. It’s got a great feel, great food (mostly) and there are always some cute little dogs to pat while their owners stop for a coffee.
Food and drinks are always great, I come here with my partner and/or friends probably once a month or more. Always a safe choice where you know you'll get good food every time. I also love their ever changing specials.
Side note. If they ever have the soft shell crab burger again GET IT! It is delicious and we always come back hoping to see it on the specials board!
Good atmosphere and really wholesome and flavoursome food. In a great little spot with good interior design. The service is good and they give off a good vibe with good music to accompany the food. It's lovely on a sunny day so plan ahead with your next visit.
Super small coffee check out my photo-so much space in my regular coffee holder. Next time I must remember to order regular. A bit quirky, funky breakfast place (with matching staff; careful not to be too cool) with kids playground across the road. Reasonable prices.
Always a weekend favourite. Especially when the day is starting super early. The new menu is great and food and coffee is never disappointing.
Great place. Lovely food and good coffee. Ordered the pork burger - a bit too saucy but really good. The chunky chips and mayo were great! The waiters were very friendly but took a while to serve us after seating us - I had to go ask for menus. Coffee was quick but food took awhile. It was a Sunday though and seemed very busy. Lunch cost about $45 for two burgers and coffee. Great spot to sit on the footpath opposite the park. Will be back!
What a great spot opposite Hartwell station. Fordham's takes up pretty much the whole length of the tiny shopping strip. We sat outside on a sunny Saturday and the service was fast and friendly. I had the Crispy Pork Belly Burger w/ Asian Slaw and Pickled Chillies. It was delicious - sticky, crispy pork belly pieces on crunchy Asian slaw with sour pickled chillies and creamy mayo - yum! Coffee was great too. Love that they've kept the milk bar idea going with lolly jars, Myki top ups and chips & choccie bars for sale. Will definitely be back!
My new favourite cafe! This is a great little establishment oozing with character, history and great service. I have just been for my first visit and am thoroughly impressed. There are lots of quirky design features to look at whilst you wait for your meal. There are vintage signs, old school lollies on the counter, and a curious orange juicing machine. Each one of the staff were genuine and friendly, drinks were good (chai tea with honey, flat white), and the food absolutely delicious. Husband and I shared the roast chicken salad and homemade sausage roll. Husband reckons the chicken was a tad overlooked but that did nothing to dent my wonderful experience of this place. Melbourne has such good cafes there's no excuse to go to a bad one. Fordhams is great and I will be back!! Thank-you for a great first visit
Holy mother of awesome... Sweet potato rosti + haloumi + pea stack is possibly the best breakfast ever! Definitely visit. The gorgeous boutique designy stores in this tiny strip finish the experience nicely.
Great outdoor seating. Definitely dog friendly. Service was excellent. All staff friendly and attentive. Good food and coffee. Definitely coming back.
Every time I have gone here it's been packed. I've tried a few different things from the menu and enjoyed them all. The rosti isn't something is try again, it just didn't work for my tastes. Coffee is good, busy atmosphere so probably not the place for a relaxing Saturday morning. I do love that will let you book a table however and this seems to be a rare thing in Melbourne cafes on the weekend when I want a place to catch up with friends.
