Review Asian Beer Cafe - Melbourne

Ashish Verma
A good place to hang out on lazy evenings. If you are looking for not an expensive one, this is the place to be in. I was quite surprised. Right on the Melbourne Central Station, it’s quite approachable. Apart from the indoor experience, they have an outdoor seating too. Staff is courteous and helpful. Enjoy the tap beer, taquilla shots and hard drinks. If you love spicy food, do try Cajun Chicken wings. Chilly squid is also recommended

happy hour time table has changed from when I last visited before pandemic. good cheap bar in the heart of Melbourne. It has designated smoking area in balcony. middle section of the bar gets cleared once it hits around 10pm(unsure) and staff play awesome music for people to dance. place is convenient as it's in the top of Melbourne central bldg. it is student friendly and a nice meet up place 😜 toilets are neat and tidy. when I witnessed other people get drunk, service of the staff are top notch as they cared for the customers and even gave free water for that guy to freshen up.

Was wandering around Melbourne Central and remembered Asian beer cafe on the to level. We came here just before 4pm happy hour and got a seat out on the balcony. The balcony was split between smokers and non smokers... There really wasn't much space between the two sections to be honest. There were several food and drink deals available on the app so we grabbed the two pizza and beer jug deal as well as the three entree deal... Both were good value. Would be happy to come here again.

Have visited ABC a couple of times and have enjoyed the atmosphere and drinks available. There is a nice outdoor balcony area and inside a dance floor. The venue is convenient and easy to get to via public transport, located on the top floors of Melbourne central. Have enjoyed the $45 bottomless cocktails offer with a great selection of cocktails and snacks to choose from. Overall had a great experience with bookings, staff and security.

Had a really nice happy hour at ABC. Nice and quiet on a Tuesday and safe to say we have more than a few drinks. 15$ for a jug of Tiger beer, very good.

The drinks are cheap during happy hour and tastes pretty good. The buffalo's wings are amazing when you're already really drunk but I'm sure it tastes normally too

We have graduation party at here. I’m don’t drink beer but everyone said that was awesome. 🍻🍻🍻

The outside area is extremely dirty. The tables are super sticky. On the right had side of the outdoor dining area there's a strong garbage smell coming. And please buy new cocktail glasses. Cause the glasses you'll are serving on right now is sick to look at. Decent place.

Asian beer cafe is my favourite place for pre drinks in the city. Be warned, it can get crazy crowded in the evenings. Food is okay. Great value for money.

I called into this bar for a quick drink. Having heard about this place for a while now I was keen to see what it was like. And before I ordered a punter in front of me necked his drink at the bar in one hit, which gave me an instant impression of the what kind of place it was hahaha

The drinks were cheaper by the jug than by the pint hahaha so I went with the flow.

This place was not surprisingly, packed. It was loud but every pen was enjoying themselves and I was too but my jug and my glass was plastic. OMGosh nooo!!

Was it 3am?? Haha no.

Overall the drinks are cheap and the punters friendly enough, and it’s in a handy location. Cheers lol

We haven’t eaten at the Asian beer cafe but we have had many a drink and its a vibe. Cheap jugs of beer or mixers, big crowd, loud music... it’s a messy sort of drinking spot to get the juices flowing before moving on to the next spot. You definitely need to experience it as least once in your life. Fun times!

Come here relatively often, smack bang in the middle of the CBD, huge space so large groups can all hang out, drink specials are great, smokers area is massive with a dope view.

Tonight wasn’t my first time at ABC. Come here a couple of times before to have a few cocktails and chill. (It’s cheap so why not) Once, I came in on a Saturday night and I said never again. Just couldn’t handle that cheap crowd.
Anyways so tonight I decided to give them another chance and thought I’ll give the food a shot even though my friend fell sick on the Parma few weeks ago. And I’m only praying to God I don’t wake up with an upset tummy tomorrow morning.
I ordered the Texan Chilli Nachos and I wouldn’t complain about the portion because it was much more than what I was expecting but everything else about it was average. I think I was put off the minute it reached the table as the server almost dropped it down, then her hand came onto my plate trying to push the nachos back on the plate. I tried eating only the part that didn’t touch her hand but it was so greasy, lacking Mexican flavours and it just made me feel so sick. I couldn’t even eat 1/4 of it and I hate wasting food. I could have spent that $15 on something much better!!
I hate writing bad reviews. I feel sometimes just forget it and let it go. But the reason I’m pointing this out is not for people to stop going there but for the management to take this very seriously and make the changes they need to.

My go-to place for drinks. It’s just disappointing that they always ran out of beer and we cant take food on the balcony. People are friendly here.

This place is located at the top level, next to Hoyts in Melbourne Central. Went there on Saturday evening for some drinks with a friend to find out that the place was already full at 6:30pm but managed to find a spot somehow. The cocktails during happy hours and the cocktail jars are quite cheap. Didn’t order food except some basic snacks which were decent for the price. TLeft the place at 9pm to find a huge queue outside the place.
Paul J Fisher
Located upstairs next to hoyts and TGI Friday’s... great opportunity for a drink and snack to have a break from shopping. Had to wait 10 minutes to be served at the bar. Some annoying team member dancing and singing behind the bar and ignoring the customers. Apart for that beer and snacks were good.
The Casual Diner
Will come back for:
+ Buffalo wings
+ Calamari
+ Fries

Came here for lunch and was impressed by the view from the balcony (over looking the front yard of the state library). The balcony was well heated on a cold wintery afternoon. Prices were very affordable, and taste of the food were good and servings generous. You can see why this would be a great student hang out. The space was pretty big, with lots of tables inside and out. We had the tandoori chicken pizza and it needed a bit more seasoning and the steak that we ordered was well done instead of medium. on the other hand, the buffalo wings were deliciously sticky, succulent with a nice bit of tang. And the fried calamari were super tender and moorish. Service was friendly and efficient. Would be back to share a beer or two with mates plus share some finger food.
Wearekimleaf
This was the old watering hole. Easy to get in. Great happy hour specials on the food. Great view. Watered down drinks though and can get super packed, with limited chairs.
Jess Yu
a very student friendly place with very affordable prices. Good to go for a drink and a snack with friends. Ordered a few sides and a pizza. Nothing special about the food aside from the fact that they were cheap and filling. Taste was very average and the service there was alright, not too friendly but not rude either. Isn't my favourite bar but would recommend going as a student.
Whalesfoodadventure
Ordered the lion king (pumpkin pizza) mushroom burger with fries. Fries were amazing with the aioli sauce. Pumpkin pizza was also delicious and loved the thin base. I liked the mushroom burger however did not like how they added the macadamia nuts with the patty, it was just a weird taste and texture
Loveeatingfood
i am a fries fanatic. i absolutely love fries that being said the fries here are amazing. i generally don’t like sweet potato fries but i would eat these. the egg plant fries ARE AMAZING and so are the regular fries. the popcorn chicken pizza was an interesting mix. overall defs would try the fries again, however slightly on the pricier side
Manpreet Dang
Amazing cocktails 🍸 Good variety of cocktails. Steak and fries were good . Pizza was ok ok might have be better if the sour cream wouldn’t have been added . I feel just this place needs a cleaner tables .
Jenny Neira
I can't stand the smell of this place. I know drinks are cheap and that they have a fantastic view of the library. However, I found this place disgusting. The whole place smells like a huge urinal. The guards are rude and gross staring at the body of the girls. Food is just normal, pizzas are standard. The plastic glass that they give to share the drinks are super old. And the service is rude. I feel like the culture of the organization is something nonsense like: ‘be rude so it looks cool’.
Gretel Jayne Alejano
Too good.

Great place to drink and dance with mates in the city 👌🏽☺️ Lots of uni students go to ABC and its just got good vibes in the atmosphere.
Dan Nguyen
Had a few drinks with a couple of friends here. Definitely attracts a whole variety of people but more so students and internationals because of the inexpensive drinks and location. Has a nice smoking area outside with a beautiful view. Fun atmosphere and mood.
Ishvinder
A great place to hangout with friends. Drinks, food and so lively crowd. It is like a break from your busy schedule. Been there many times still every time find something new to try.

What a way to start of a Saturday in Melbourne with a visit to the very bustling Asian Beer Cafe. It was highly recommended by my school mate's daughter who have settled in Melbourne.

It was a footy night to boot as well & we were cheering for the Hawthrone Hawks who were taking on Sydney. We washed down our beer with wonderful mixed fries.

Lots of dancing in the open areas & super atmosphere, had a lot of students in attaendance.
Hitesh Uhcnus
Decent place for a weekend hangout with friends, the ambience is quiet amazing for a place of that size, not really a big fan of the outdoor place though. Has got average service not to forget the pizza range they are just amazing for the price.
Aleezeh
Good place to catch up on drinks with friends, the cocktails are okay nothing to rave about ordered nachos and pizza which was also fine. Overall the ambience is good and the place is located in a convenient spot. The guards can be rude at times though for no apparent reason.

What can I say, if your a student this is your bar. Pros: great student discounts and food is cheap/ decent. Negatives: music is super loud, and the floor is always very sticky.
Moieats
Ambience : 3/5. Old fixtures and seasoned decor. This place smelt musty.
Food : 3/5. The arancini balls and chilli squid were my favourite. Yummy, enjoyable and delicious.
Service : 2/5. Waited 45 minutes for the food to come. With an hour lunch break, I literally had to inhale the food. Bear in mind, there is no such thing as take away.
Highly recommended : The $5 pizzas. Just make sure your lunch break is longer than an hour.
Vivian
Cheap drinks during happy hour and deliciously cheap pizza ! I love coming here to relax and unwind with a few friends. The space is large and has a outdoor and indoor area, it does however get packed very quickly on some nights
The Food Book
Generally good spot for cheap drinks or a hangout spot vefore a nightout. Typi is ally good vibes as well but xan get overcrowded at peak times. $5 pizzas are also good value and flavours aren't too bad.
Dine And Dash
Really cool bar in Melbourne Central!

I ordered the $10 Steak and chips deal and it came out within minutes, food was yum and the drinks were so cheap! A really university-friendly bar. I recommend eating/drinking on the balcony overlooking the streets.

I wasn't really a fan of the music and the bartenders weren't as friendly as I would have liked.

Will most likely return!
Liang Xue
Personally I found that their wings were underwhelming , and their seasoning and sauces were not balanced right. The wings were soggy and lacked crispness. The fries were decent, and I would not suggest getting pizza here. The table were sticky, as the place were really busy. I wouldn’t be coming back here for the food, the people I came with found their tap jugs a cheap price.
Charlotte White
Appalling service. I went from the outdoor area to the toilet and the bouncers stopped me from returning to my seat and my property. Would not recommend. Will not be back. I have never been to a bar that has not allowed me to go to the toilet.
@foodtom
Abc is my go to for affordable alcohol and food that will not hurt your bank.
The place can be busy that you may have to wait in line before entering and to order your drinks.
Sometimes find a hard place to sit and eat food as it is taken up pretty quick.
Food is great for the price but the cocktail jugs are too sweet that it isn’t even a cocktail, not enough alcohol in them.
THE PARMA COUPLE
went during the day so it wouldn't be busy! their parmas are cheaper than most places and there are many parma options 😋 the chips are to die for - legit the best chips that have come with a parma so far 😍😍 buuut still the traditional parma doesn't have ham which is a downer 😪 portion sizes are good tho and maybe the place needs a lil more lighting but still an amazing place for a parma (just make sure to go when not busy 😬)
Andres
Extremely rude and disrespectful staff. I used to like the place, however I wouldn't recommend it anymore. It's true that they have good prices, however the lack of customer service makes you never to come back.
'Miguel Araujo
the worse bar ever I have received many feedback about the racist and rude actitude of the staff, especially on the smoking line area, I didn't believe that until it happened to me I was kicked out from the bar, beofre leaving the guard came to my ear and told me that he can't stand my Latino accent that I should be back to South America, and called me South American!
I checked the reviews they got and found out same reviews about racism on other customers and those were reviews with more than six months... thank God if something happens even the cameras will show I don't even argue with them.
Sourabh Sharma
This place is really good for the youth in Melbourne and doesn’t make hole in your pocket. Prices are reasonable and a lot crowd walks in. It becomes quite chaotic at times but that’s what you need it.
Food is average. Overall it deserves 3/5.
Lancelthebard
No. Of Visit: 3
The ordering system is really confusing, food delayed, involving lots of "staff cannot find where you sit", order being delivered to the wrong customers, and kitchen ran out of certain things.

And yes, it happens at all the three times I was here.

Jayde
I love the decor and atmosphere here! The happy hour is great especially on cocktails they do not water them down just because they are cheaper like some places do. However it is a very packed place... would not go again on a Friday/ weekend for the simple fact you have to line up to go outside even if you slipped out to go to the bathroom and you have a seat out there with mates. Make sure you come before 4 or so to make sure you get a table because last time I went we were there for about an hour without a table ever opening up. The $4/$5 pizzas are average but good enough for the price and to accompany a beer. The " lion king" was definitely better than the "road to el dorado". The staff could be friendlier in general. Overall I recommend it.
Kylie
I've only been here for the pizza and the drinks, but that was enough for enjoy this place. Beautiful atmosphere, perfect to continue a date after dinner or hang out with friends during the day. Bar service is quick and the wait staff are very attentive. Would definitely come back.
NoCapsicumPlease
This place is such a massive pub I have ever been to. Not a bad venue to chill out with friends on weekends. Cocktails are really cheap by the way
Juliette Rose
The food at ABC is delicious especially considering it's more a bar than a restaurant. Wide range of food for a really good price. I've been there a few times, and if you want to go for some yummy food or even drinks, I recommend NOT going on a Saturday night unless you want to be crammed and having to wait in line for an hour, even to go outside. I do recommend going another day because the food is great and they have good drinks too! Also the place has a really cool atmosphere and an outdoor balcony which is nice but once again always very very crowded.

Went for a party!
Great beer!
Great cocktails and deals on drinks!
Even the food was great but service a lil slow
Happening Environment!
Great DJ
Anoop Kwatra
An awesome place to drink with your friends and beloved ones..One of the places where I will be coming again to drink for sure. Cheers......
TheMadHatterOnTea
I've come here a few times for drinks and it hasn't disappointed! I love the vibe of the place. The service wasn't amazing but they have some lovely cocktails and great happy hour specials. I've yet to try their food but am keen to try it!
Casualfoodie
The service is pretty quick and the specials on drinks are good. Good prices for pretty decent nibbles. Really like how far the vegan menu has come. Last time I got the mushroom burger and Spring rolls. The burger wasn't my fave but still good and I like that it wasn't just the old regular veggie pattie. Definitely can recommend the Spring rolls. The staff were all really pleasant too.
Good Food Good Mood
Popped in to celebrate a friends birthday and when staff realised it was my actual they poured us a complimentary round of shots which was lovely (may have been due to the number of cocktail jugs we had already purchased from them). This is often packed to the rafters with uni students due to both it's close location to RMIT and super cheap bargain prices. Each of us were literally sat there with our individual cocktail jugs and a straw for only $20 a pop! There's absolutely no need to wait for happy hour (but that's even better). I tried the blue kazoo, peach lady and the hurricane all extremely tasty and very easily drinkable.
We also snacked on some of the small pizzas and for $5 you absolutely can't go wrong. A casual cheap eat lovers delight.
Darryl Quah
Service was pretty bad, the bartender who took our order was rude. Food here wasn't even good.

The curry katsu was tasteless and bland. There was a tinge of spiciness but other than that, i couldn't taste much else. Conversely, the pad thai had too much sauce. The taste of the sauce pretty much masked any other flavor it was supposed to give.
The Gastronaut
A cool place to hangout with friends. It is one of the most packed bars in Melbourne. The food options are good too. The seating area is good enough to cater to the large crowd.
Quirkeebee
I had a Kit Kat paperbag with me when I was asked to leave the balcony area or put it away in my bag. Not exactly sure why, so I uttered, why are there so many rules in this bar? Reasonable question I suppose, to which the bouncer rudely retorted with "If you don't like it, go somewhere else!" When my boyfriend and I returned, the bouncer refused to let us back in the balcony area, which led to my boyfriend confronting the bouncer about the earlier incident. The liar of a bouncer claimed that I yelled at him. Which I calmly told him twice, I didn't. Sensing that I called him out and wouldn't back down, he said "Ok, but you gave me bad attitude". If you tell me that you're just doing your job to prevent food from being consumed in the smoking area, look at most of the drinks serve at your bar - they have pieces of fruit in them, which I'm pretty sure is considered FOOD. I am not even consuming any food but had a food-related paperbag in my hand. Secondly, what if the paperbag is empty and does not even contain food? Will you start refusing entry to people who carry food-related bag? What about supermarket-branded green bags? What are you going to do about them? Are your staff going to tell your customers "If you don't like it, go somewhere else"?
Guess what? I think you SHOULD go elsewhere where customers don't get this type of appalling, disrespectful service.
There is Father's Office, which has a great balcony area and is just down the road at QV. I will also recommend Rooftop Bar (Lvl 6, 252 Swanston St), Emerald Peacock (233 Lonsdale St), Red Hummingbird (246 Russell St), The Carlton (193 Bourke St) and Goldilocks (264 Swanston St)
Just don't go to Asian Beer Cafe where the staff is rude, appalling and officious
Megan M
My lunch was actually pretty tasty but the menu was a bit odd - it was very much an american chain restaurant dressed up as Asian food. I had the ABC fried rice with a side of kimchi.
The group's other meals ranged from Pad Thai to burgers to asian-flavoured chicken parma (?!). People also found the vegan menu confusing (haloumi on the 'vegan' salad?)
I think I'd appreciate the venue more if it wasn't a work lunch and I just had a beer or cocktail out on the balcony overlooking Swanston St. Might come back for drinks.
Sheera Brown
Definitely a popular place for the young groove. I came with a bunch of young doctor friends while we were doing some short course in Melby and I felt both young and old! My young companions mentally reminded me my age, but hanging out with them in such a place with this cool vive allowed me to chill. They are very strict with IDs, thus one of the young looking doctor with a non-English passport was not allowed entry! Happy hour had cheaper drinks and aperitifs and there is a variety to choose from. More drinks and cocktails to warm you up on a very cold Melbourne winter night is definitely welcome! The staff could be very busy though and you have to queue but this is not always the case when I came on a different time.
Miss_live_to_eat ✔️
This is a very popular Cafe located in the Centre of the city. It's main crowd consists of students and bachelors as obvious. The best time to visit the cafe is the happy hours as the drinks and food are quite cheap. The cafe is tremendously spacious however, because of its popularity you can still find it overcrowded on the weekends and even on certain week-nights. The ambience is groovy, dark, goes with the club culture of nowadays.
They have a really good choice of music which for me was the best thing. The food is delicious. The bar has a huge variety of drinks including cocktails.
I think you will understand the reason why it's so popular once you visit.

I always find myself at ABC when I want to catch up with friends with the company of alcohol. The alcoholic beverages here are nice and I enjoy them- they are satisfying and not too harsh on the pocket (however the price does add up)!

The food here is also not too shabby. Today I had a mix of pizzas, pumpkin ($4) and the lion king ($4). I personally think you get more bang for your buck !!! However everything else on the menu is quite standard pricing, the loaded fries were also very good. Although pulled pork is hard to gather with the chips together, unless using a fork. But people traditionally eat chips with their hands.

Overall the music is nice, atmosphere is great and the food/ drink is very good too!
Jin Yun
Sweet atmosphere when the place is packed. A quick $13 jug during happy hour is never a bad idea and the TVs playing anime was a nice touch along with the framed pictures on the wall.
Grace
great place for cheap food and drinks! the pad thai was really good but i would've liked it better if it wasn't so 'sauce-y'. my friend really likes the beef ribs.
Kate Dougherty
Came here for a friend's birthday drinks and a bite to eat. The place is packed on a Friday night and offers fun music and cheap drinks. Food is nothing to rave about but is tasty enough. I went for the jerk chicken salad which came with cos lettuce, spinach leaves, capsicum, onion, pineapple, jerk chicken and almonds. The chicken was well cooked and I really enjoyed the addition of the pineapple.
Theknifeandforktalk
I have found my date night out location! Well priced and delicious tapas style menu, drink specials with delicious cocktails! Food came out really fast! Least favourite meal was the pork belly, LOVED the spring rolls, chips and thin based pizzas! Will definitely be coming back!
Hungry Gwendy
The cheapest bar in the city that I know of ! The food is only a saviour when you're drunk, otherwise, don't bother buying it, not worth it. The pizza's are fine to have when you're drunk, if you wanted to know what to order;)

Otherwise, the ambience is cool, really well maintained for the crowd. Really like sitting in the balcony and enjoying the view. The service is good! Serves quick and fast and also alert on how many drinks you've ordered. Really like those high tables they've kept so you can stand and drink in the corner. The music is always the top hits, so can't really hate the music. Bouncers are chilled out once you show your IDs. They seem friendly.

Wouldn't say it's top notch. It would give you want you want, that is, get wasted :)
Totto
A nice chilled post work atmosphere on a Friday and the lure of 4pm-8pm happy hour $13 Jugs on most the beers on tap makes it very alluring, when I can get 3 Jugs of Blue Moon and still get more than a Tenner back in Change from a $50 then we know were on a good thing, for those looking for just the cheap drinks they have Jugs of Sumo lager (house Beer) for $8.

Now down to the food, was feeling a touch peckish last time around and opted for the Beef Spare ribs, although a touch fatty, for what you got for $10 you can over look that, I was expecting a few small ribs but what I got was the size of a Full rack, fully marinated and falling off the bone..... hit the spot !!!
Mel Brooka
The food came out quick and was nice but not fantastic. The drinks were very weak.. Very cheap and a great place for university students. Would recommend the Ribs and Pad Thai
SweetSwedeFoodie
Not fancy in any way, but great for cheap predrinks. Many uni-students, which makes it to a lively place. The food is quite okay. You get what you pay for, which is fair enough.
Brian With The Y
Love the atmosphere and the staffed, $5 pizza all the way!!! or $4 with uni student card around 11am to 4pm I think~ also the $20 hurricane jug 👌
ThE MOiStMaKeR
This place was okay but there was nothing really Asian about it. Not a huge range of drinks either, just mostly cocktails. Nightlife was good but I just don't feel there's anything ‘asian’, ‘beer’ or ‘cafe' about this place - felt like a nightclub.
Matt Rollo
Walked in and walked out... what sort of pub has a bouncer at the door at 6pm on a Thursday night... and checking everyone's ID... regardless of age!

Why bother even advertising that you sell food when you literally have to find a seat amongst 100 18 year olds!

Although we didn't eat or drink here, we definitely won't be going back.
Jean
This place is quite alright and a bit better than TGIs next door as they have a more unusual decor and look and have some good lunch specials. Of course, being a glorified pub - don't expect 5-star quality food but rather think of the value for money and enjoy it for that.
Maidtomunch
This is my favourite bar in the city! The venue is casual, with an asian influence. The girls toilets have pictures of Hello Kitty in all kinds of costumes, a fun addition. The food itself is very affordable (pizzas for $5), and SO tasty. The pizza was delicious, and the pork belly was a highlight. They have spring rolls filled with chocolate (2 of my favourite things). The cocktails are served from the tap, and are very tasty; they also have a large range of beers on tap (as indicated in the name). This is my go-to bar in the city, and it should be yours too. The biggest downside would be the popularity of the place- lining up for food and drinks, and when it gets very busy, lining up to sit outside (as there are limitations).
Larry Ma
Cheap food and drinks, always busy and meh......

Not really the place I like to go except having a nice view of the city on a sunny day

I would rather go somewhere else but when you have little money in you pocket and try to get as many booze as you can, here's the place to go
April_eats
Pub like atmosphere, very casual. Order at the bar and get a number. Friendly staff. Nice big balcony outside for eating/drinking with a view of the State Library. Good location above Melbourne Central. Ok menu selection burgers etc. great pickles on the burger, lots of flavour, crunchy chips. Some good deals. Good for a group of friends for a casual get together.
Bopnbeep
Loud and busy drinking spot populated with the uni crowd. We came on a Friday and it was packed with long queues for drinks. The cocktail jugs, served on tap, are mostly ice and extremely sweet. There's a good variety of food and tapas, all reasonably priced.
Food Is Life
Came here on a day where is wasn't too busy. So I was a little taken back to see that almost all the tables are either wet or haven't been cleaned. When our jugs arrived it was mostly filled with ice. Not worth the price. Other than the vegan options and the music, this place isn't exactly as great as what people say it is
Nic And Zoe Eat Stuff
It is what it is, popular uni hang out with dirt cheap drinks. Food is sub-par but the pricing for it is to match so you can't complain.

If you're looking for a venue to sit down, chat and relax... probably not the venue for you. If you want to get drunk as anything with the boys and get rowdy and loud, this venue is probably going to suit you.
Katherine
alright it for a uni lunch break with cheap drinks and food however not at all a fan during the evenings as it's just far too busy and messy to enjoy.
Amanda Adamson
Best place for drinks! Amazing staff, great tapas. Look out for Suren he's the best everrrr! So friendly such good service :) HAPPY HOURRRRR IS SO HAPPPYYYY. This place always gives me the gooood vibes
Decided to drop in at ABC tonight with a couple of international guests. One of the drinks we purchased (and paid for) was a pimms and lemonade. The drink was advertised as coming with 'a selection of fresh fruit' (as what a Pimms drink usually comes with). When I walked further down the bar to collect my drink, what actually was served to me was a premixed pimms drink from the tap. Its had no fresh fruit.

When I complained to the manager, she mocked me and told me all I was missing out on was a cherry, which they had run out of.

Next time you ask for the money up front, maybe make sure what you're advertising is what you can actually deliver.

Terrible customer service and clearly a bar getting too comfortable.

Cynthia Giang
Interesting space, with some very quirky toilets - can sometimes get quite messy late at night. Staff very friendly. Good mood lighting in the evening. Rooftop space is always great during the day and they do good pizzas.
Maree
Cheap drinks and food - good place for a casual night out or a place to begin your night. Get there early because it fills up fast (even on a weeknight) and the bar lines move slowly when busy. Better to come on a weekday when it's dead and the music isn't ridiculously loud.
Prachi Tyagi
One of the most chill places in cbd, love the ambience and feel of the place. The beer is amazing and the food isn't bad. Would go here again.
Shar Buendia
The restaurant had a really cozy vibe. Great for chilling with friends, long lunch talks and after office drinks. The view outside is stunning as well.
Renae Harrison
Love the addition of the vegan options and the option to turn a pizza into a salad bowl. Pricing is favourable and service is good. Great place for a drink and a nibble.
JLN
Asian beer cafe, or A.B.C as it is known as by the regulars is a cheap option however I’m not really a fan of the usual crowd. The drink offers are pretty reasonably priced though and some of the food options won't hurt your pocket money funds.
Justin Wong
When you are broke, hungry and in desperate need for a good night out, ABC is the place to go. Vibrant bar that serves cheap alcohol and food. 5 buck pizza is the way to go here. Simple and delicious. I can't say that the drinks are fantastic but you get what you pay for. It's decent and it's functional. With that I mean you would definitely have a great time there. Fantastic place for a cheap night out. However, if you have deeper pockets, I would skip this place. Many other bars serves better quality drinks.
Mi55Bee
Nice spot to hang out if you are not looking to go too far away! Cheap beer and tasty finger food, only packed if you come at peak hours ! Make sure you try out their fries!

I came to this place because of cheap beer at happy hour. Tho we are not the only who looking for the cheap beer, the place was crowded but good vibes and nice view.

Cheapest beer and food place in the CBD! Also one of the most crowded bars too. Excellent venue for students and commuters and those having a pre or post movie drink at Hoyts. Portions sizes are small which makes it good for sharing and really tasty. Plenty of brews on tap to quench your thirst. Just be patient in the queue and with your order and get ready to unwind.

Extremely unfriendly staff, way too long waiting times in line and the cocktails are from tap. The food was cold, since the waitress couldnt find us (you order food at the bar and get a number to put on your table) This night was a waste of money and time

sad to say that it has changed over the last 1.5 years, with their drink specials going up in price and less in quantity. You could get two cocktails for once last year and now it's about $17 for one which is overpriced for ABC'S setting which is crowded and noisy. I would happily pay $17 in a restaurant where you sit down have some privacy and the quantity is larger. You are better of buying a jog for $20 however it is watered down and the taste is like sugar water.

The food is also over priced for the quality, we paid $10 for a pizza that had 2 sliced, had to order 5 for 2 people and we have small stomachs as well.

Used to be good but now is noisy, and quality is very very low.

The staff here is PATHETIC specially the guys on the entrance who'll treat the regular guests with disrespect and dismissal. They flirt with the girls in your group and have no etiquettes. The WORST experience I ever encountered in Melbourne. I would suggest you guys keep professionals on the job. Thank you for this experience.
Don't have ratings in negative or else I had a better rating for this place.
They don't have the best food in town but one of the best cheap eats/drinks in town. Nice atmosphere even though the music could get quite loud, I have to shout to my friends but it's a beer bar. I'm just too old for loud music...

No matter if it's a Monday afternoon or a Saturday night, this place is full of people and full of life. The food for lunch or dinner is seriously cheap and amaaaaazing and the drinks list is so good. $20 cocktail jugs (never ever share them either)!

Cheap and cheerful, really great number of gluten free and vegetarian options, food arrives fast, and is good value for money. Good work team, really great to see you set the bar and show other places it can be done!

So many ppl in this bar! Mood and interior was good but at weekend it was full of ppl and hard to talk because too loud music. I think it is good place to drink beer with drunken friends.

The only reason I go to this place is because it's convenient for me to drink and travel but there isn't anything great about this place! It's always super packed and really hard to get places to sit! However, I love the $5 Spring rolls that I always eat when I'm here!

Great atmos, nifty location and cheap drinks. Perfect hangout spot for uni students, drinks are a steal at happy hour - typically this is their busiest hour so don't expect to find a place to sit if you arrive at this time! But do try the calamari and the pizzas, particularly the tandoori chicken - each pizza feeds one!

Obviously we all go here to drink and maybe one dude in your group has the great idea of ordering some kinda food from the bar in which everyone agrees because you've all probably had one too many. At least that's been my experience and although I've never technically eaten their sober each time (a fair few times admittedly) the food has seemed great. They have a wide variety of alcohol. But lacking in the music department but that's great for socialising. Young crowd. Frequented by most university students at one time or another over their academic career

Great place for a drink and a cheap bite to eat before going out! I love this places atmosphere and the staff are very nice too. All in all never had a bad experience here. I suggest the fruit tingle. It's a great drink!

A vibrant pub with people from all nationality.
The balcony are is mostly crowded and you have to wait in the queue to get there. The finger food is good. The Staff Members are Cordial. It is pretty much our friday night hangout spot. You can chill out with friends or colleagues here. The sad part is they don't have a dance floor. They make awesome Long Island Ice teas.... :)

If it were not for the molto premioso location and specials on pizza/ cocktails jugs, this place leaves little to be desired. Saying that, i've been here a ton becuase there arent many other bars that are as easy to meet up with larger groups. Its pretty chill during the day but during weekends its like a drinks market.

I went to this place once and I was pretty disappointed overall. Here is a list of the aspects of the restaurant I liked and disliked:

What I liked:

- Comfortable seats
- Layout of the store

What I disliked:

- Quality of food is quite poor
- Some of the waiting staff that I dealt with were rude

This is just my experience however, each to their own.

Think Uni student hang out. That comes with cheap drinks and food (the good) but the outdoor area does smell like beer (not so good). Very lively atmosphere.

A very happening and a lively place in Melbourne central. The outside seating has a beautiful view of The State Library that is right across the street. A good place to chill for those coming to the city.

Nice tasty food that's really affordable. Good portion too.
We had the chicken buffalo burger with blue cheese. Will definitely order it again

The outdoor area is nice but the tables smells of old beer.
RMIT students LIVE here!!!
