We stayed nearby and enjoyed our morning coffees from there. The food was delicious and fresh. The service was fantastic. Would recommend to everyone!

We had Greek salad with chicken and a burger. Both were nice. Coffee was great too. We will definitely be back. We sat outside as we were with a dog. My only suggestion to the owners is to add a drink bowl for dogs.

You can usually tell how good a place is by the patrons. Today, a big breakfast at The Grocery Bar which was bubbling over with people. The queue was about five deep but my o see of eggs Benedict with ham and a hot chocolate was at my ‘table for one’ in under ten minutes.
The serving was generous with two English muffins, cut in half so there was plenty to eat. Eggs cooked well and again a generous serving of ham.
The patrons were varied - a mother with her toddler in a high chair, a family of 5, a couple, business attired people and an elderly woman doing the crossword. This is why I travel. This is what makes reviewing enjoyable. I get to watch how humans interact and sometimes I strike up a conversation with people who are often grateful for the chit chat.
As I left I could see a line of coffee cups, both disposable but amusingly resueable, all in different shapes and sizes and colours. The word is out - reuseable cups!
Staff were fabulous. Fast and efficient and all with a smile.

The baked eggs are delicious, they truly knocked my socks off! Their use of the manchego cheese really tops it off flavour-wise. Paired on top of fresh sourdough, you simply cannot go wrong!
Don't let the name fool you, if I had the money I'd give up going to the grocery store in general! The cafe service was prompt and the food was top quality as expected from a cafe. Top coffee joint!
What a great cafe to come across! The staff were all very lovely, quick service and the inside looked really nice but we sat at the outdoor tables and it's in such a cute little courtyard, just tucked back from the busy Victoria Parade traffic.
The coffee was fantastic, the matcha latte was one of the best I've had, not too overpowering and slightly sweet. My husband really enjoyed the Parma Burger, it was a special and the crumb coating on the parma was excellent. I tried the Acai Bowl and was really impressed with the presentation, flavour and texture.
Would definitely come back, couldn't fault the meal or the service! Great work Grocery Bar!
Staff were all friendly and smiley. I was so tired after my flight but felt relieved immediately after being greeted by the nice ambience of the cafe and warmth of the staff.
Ham and cheese crossaint was not really up to my expectation but the coffee was especially nice. Simply in love with this small cafe 😍

OMG! Best vibe on Fitzroy Street, it was the 12 dollar jugs of amazing pale ale that brought me in! I'm a bacon and poachies lover and the sauce was an absolute treat!... Not to mention very accommodating to my vegetarian friend...... If you live in the area then this is the new and improved Banff.... Food is better, service is better and the price is right!
There are some things that are great in larger sizes. Pay checks, divorce settlements (my uncle got enough cash through mediation to purchase a breeding pair of German Shepherds and embark on a more fulfilling career) and cinematic explosions (take note Baz Luhrmann).
Conversely there are something's that are exponentially worse in jumbo sizes - credit card debt (stay off Deal-of-the-day. Trusssst me), mistakes and cold sores (I used to think they were called coleslaws. V. Embarrassing).
When the man behind the counter asked what size long black I'd like, I shuddered. I was about to walk out but decided to see it out. I need caffeine and My therapist, Trisha, is encouraging me to challenge my engrained path of 'deciding without trying'. I'm a work in progress. We all are. And we need to accept that.
Anyway, I got a small takeaways (as is the only trü choice) and you know what? Not too bad. Actually pretty good.
Grabbed a cappuccino and a green tea on our way past. Both were good and the service was very fast and friendly. Seemed like a quiet place to grab a quick meal if you were in the area.
Visiting nearby and this was a convenient find for breakfast. Meals were good size, fresh and out quickly. Perfect poached eggs. Coffee was consistent, mild roast used & easy drinking.
Best food I've had in ages, went here a while ago and loved it, coffee is delish and food was well portioned and yummy! Had great prompt service and a good laugh with the staff
Delicious food, bubbly staff, love the cakes!. My boyfriend and I have been going here for months now for the freshly squeezed fruit juice, big breakfast and flourless chocolate cakes. The amazing staff make us feel at home every time. Would recommend!!!

Local Lunch Favourite. I live locally and have always enjoyed good coffee (though have to ask for it extra hot ), food and service here, it's not fine dining nor big serves but lovely, tasty food, especially the pulled pork on a brioche bun, delicious! Dog friendly with plenty of tables outside.
Good Food, Great Staff. I'm quite surprised about all of the negative reviews about "bad" service. My wife and I have been going to Grocery Bar for the last 3 years as we live less than a block away.
The staff (especially the owners) have been nothing but outgoing and friendly to us both, so it really does make me question some of these reviews. Now, I don't know any of these reviewers, but I do have to say that a lot of people I see go in there are quite stand-offish and demanding, which is quite the opposite of these reviews. It's okay to have the mentality of "the customer is always right" as we all work quite hard for our money, you just don't have to be rude about it.
Although they go through staff every couple months to a year (as they are mostly backpackers and students), for the most part they are all friendly and quite tentative. We've had nothing but great food, great service and great coffee for the last 3 years. I highly recommend this place!

This place was perfect! Loved the food, the decor, the staff were friendly and brought everything thing out in a really short time. The coffee was smooth and high quality. They had this cute little old customer that has been coming for years, who chatted with the owner. It was a delight. Will be back as often as I can!
I live in the area and have visited this cafe a few times.. In the past few weeks the food has been considerably better. Today I visited for lunch with my husband. I had the the chicken caesar salad. Only words to describe the food 'to die for'.. The flavour in the caesar salad was fantasic. The croutons were extremely tasty. My husbands salad was beautiful aswell. The only criticism is the staff are unfriendly and need to smile more! The Spanish waitress was very friendly and attentive though.. I will be back for the food and will recommend to my pals...
There aren't many cafes that can pump out consistently good coffee like these guys can. They're crazy busy most of the time too, but seem to manage to get everyone's coffee out in a matter of minutes. Food is really well priced and generally quite unique/interesting. It's really chilled out and most of the customers appear to be regulars.... always a good sign. Highly recommended.
Great place! The boys here have got it nailed. Perfect coffee and a simple but filling menu.
Having eaten here for breakfast and lunch on a number of occasions, I would recommend it. It does not purport to be haute cuisine but serves simple and imaginative food. Not too expensive and good service.

Eaten here a couple of times & both times what I ordered was supposed to come with bread & didn't! They do have a to die for cloudless chocolate cake though which makes it worth going back!!!
