Review Blue's Bar & Grill - Melbourne

Mediocre. Ordering off the menu became a litany of things the kitchen was out of, on a quiet Sunday night! Steak on one plate undercooked, on another overcooked. Not worth the price. Desert was good though.

We came in behind a 22-head booking and so suffered for a failure to adequately staff to the tune of waiting for an hour and a quarter for entrees. My pork belly was served stone cold, my partner's lentils under her barramundi were overcooked and soggy, and my jacket potato was also overcooked to a sad mush. My T-bone was adequate.

Came here for the buffet breakfast, it was okay but nothing too exciting. Limited hot food was a little disappointing, they only have scrambled eggs (which are very soggy btw), bacon, mushrooms, baked beans, sausages and tomatoes. Where are the wilted spinach, hash browns etc.? There is a waffle station which is kinda fun as you get to make your own waffles, but the toppings are also very limited and not to my liking. Ended up just using the normal strawberry jam people usually put on toast, which still didn't go too well with the waffle. Maybe honey or butter could've been better but I don't know about that. Pastry items are a bit too hard to bite and not that great. The mini juice bottles are quite cute though. They also have bircher in small glasses, which is kinda creative.
Not a bad place, but I wouldn't say it's too good either, hope they increase the variety of hot food available.

Waitress' service was exceptional as well as the view and ambience.
But the food was too high priced for what it was. Had the crispy pork belly entree and was disappointed to find the crackling was dry & the meat flavour less.
The spatchcock was cooked well with moist crispy skin but the honey figs overpowered the dish. Moreover to be accompanied by grey/purple Congo potatoes left taste & presentation wanting.
The crab & prawn linguine was flavoursome as was the steak which was accompanied by mash & generous veg.
Waited 20 mins for the choc fondant which was cooked only at the top and edges with the middle so runny it was like sauce. Fondant should have a gooey centre but still be cakey/pudding like. Paid $17 for 3 mouthfuls.
Overall wasn't that impressed and definitely won't be returning again in a hurry for the food.

Almost, but not quite.. We went to the Bar & Grill for our buffet breakfast as part of our stay at Rydges.

The restaurant was nice, well decorated, and had a good view of the nearby parkland. However the buffet left a lot to be desired; the cooked food overall was inconsistent, average, and i could have done a better job with a microwave and one pan. The fruit was tinned, and glad-wrapped to be served on our next visit (as we arrived at clean up on our first visit and early for our next). The juices were placed in small bottles with striped straws which was a novelty, however they did not stay cold for long, and would have benefited from being kept in an ice bath. The pastries were cold, and there was no way to warm them, which was disappointing as they were very hard. the service was very nice, the cook even came out to let us know they had made fresh pastries for us (as requested). The music was good, providing a calm and gentle atmosphere.

Overall the food selection was adequate, however the cooked food fell short, perhaps a few minor changes would make things that little bit better.

Extremely disappointed with the Two Caesar Salads.
The chicken was burnt and very dry and the size was closer to an entree. 4/10

Great tapas and bar menu. Kangaroo, lamb ribs, taquitos, chipotle goodness. Fantastic value and the staff are friendly and enthusiastic. The outdoor terrace is superb. I'll go out of my way to go back here - often

Stayed at Rydges for a night and came here to have a drink and something small to eat. The young lady at the bar was lovely, the beer and pina colada were nice and wedges were so good!! Would recommend and eat here again.
