Always love coming back here for the jaffles ! The place itself isnt large but has a very nice and quaint feel and look and definitely does not need to be any bigger.
Highly recommend the Cheese Jaffle which is well-priced for the quality of the ingredients and the coffee is always fantastic too.
Love the cheesy jaffles! Hearty meal. Relaxing, cute and cosy eatery. Aussie vintage cutlery and decor. Laid back and friendly staff. Good coffee.
My boyfriend found this cute cafe while browsing nearby brunch places. Honestly i did not expect anything because i have never even heard about this place, it is a two story house turned into a cute cafe. The menu is quite simple so its not hard to choose what you want, and they have so many options for jaffle too. I forgot to take pictures of the food. I'd recommend the rosti and mushrooms. And for drinks, definitely get their milkshakes, i had the espresso one with extra chocolate (Mocha), it was AMAZING!! staffs are very friendly and helpful, eventhough we're seated upstairs, they kept coming up to check on us. Will go back for their milkshakes and maybe jaffle soon!
We had a great lunch here today. Despite the very hipster mullet and Mos, there was zero attitude, just lovely, friendly staff. A relief from the usual! The toasties were great and the poached eggs were perfect and loved by our kids. Good coffee too. Thanks G&O
visited on a saturday morning. coffee was excellent and the food was delicious. i had the haloumi and pea croquettes and my aunty had the uncle bennies. definitely satisfying feed and one of my top brunch places. kudos to the friendly staff as well, i'll be back :)
Absolutely love this place.the staff the food and coffee .everything is always good. My favorite place to eat in north melbourne. Highly recommended
Love this place. Great jaffle menu. If you can handle the fat get the jaffle with 3 cheeses. Also 'The Jerk' jaffle is good. Fish and chips is decent too. Great sun exposure. Stafg are chill and friendly.
The food was really nice and the service was good, but on a cold winter morning there's no need to have the door open! If we wanted fresh air we'd have sat outside. We probably would have stayed longer except for the cold.
Lovely friendly staff. Food good. Tasty soups. Funky surrounds. Nice spot to catch the sun and a coffee. Old fashioned lolly selection, retro products eg tic tic biscuits, lots of fun things on the shelf.
Jaffle in the house! Retro trend, taste jaffles, warm sunshine, quite street, you deserve a better lunch:) Picture is "magic marshroom jaffle".
Looking for a lunchspot and rode past Grigons & Orr. It looked lovely and we could sit outside in the sun. Had a decent glass of organic orange juice for a reasonable price. Very friendly service. No free range meat. Had rosti with mushrooms, which was a bit blant. Rosti should've had a bit (more) of salt. Also had the pea croquettes which were nice. All and all lovely and simple food. Wouldn't mind going back.
A cute old-fashioned-sweet-shop vibe brunch locale that serves milkshakes in old-fashioned metal cups! I've tried a couple of things and their egg bennies are pretty good, although the taste of the hollandaise can vary from time to time.
This place has mastered the general store feel! Plus, jaffles! Seriously. It's got 'grandma's house' comfort and the old English spoons. All the store stuff on the shelves you'd expect as a 70's or 80's kid and it's just a general good feel place. The food is good too and staff lovely.
Cute little old school corner shop come cafe with friendly staff. The shelves are filled with old school lollies (if that is your thing). Being such a fantastic Autumn day, we had a table outside. The tomato and cheese jaffle I had was perfect, as was the latte. I will definitely stop by here again.
Yummy coffee, nice selection of sweets, the breakfast looked good, can't wait to come back for food one day! The decor is interesting, has a nice feel to it and the upstairs rooms are cosy :)
Great food and great atmosphere! Couldn't recommend it enough. The Temple of Shroom is delicious and the House Beans are a valuable addition to any menu item. Coffee is great and well presented also.
My new favourite brunch spot.
Great coffee and I'm in love with the brunch menu. It's exciting but now over the top. The prices are what you'd expect for a Cafe in North Melby but cheaper than the ones on busy Errol Street.
Have eaten here twice so far with my husband and all our meals have been a decent size, fresh and super tasty.
They have a tray of assorted sauces and chillies in every room, with water and napkins.
Service is top notch, very helpful and friendly.
See you soon!

Stumbled across this place my accident after night shifts. Love the variety of jaffles availible, and although they are probably slightly overpriced, the one I had was very yummy. Good hot chocolate too.
I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch here! The interior of this cafe is very interesting, lots of bits and bobs everywhere. I ordered the Uncle Benny's and it was delicious. Defs should add the salmon! The eggs benedict were made perfectly, yolk was oozing out. I really enjoyed the sourdough toast! Most of the time, the toast or bread that I've had with eggs benedict are really hard to eat but this wasn't. Really do recommend everyone to try this place out :)

Grigons & Orr was recommended to us by Hui, who pointed it out as we passed by on our way to brunch the other day. There was a impressive floor to ceiling shelf behind the counter reminiscent of an old lolly store. Kids would adore this.
Mia and I naturally went for their Special Shakes.T he special shakes came in stainless steel milkshake cups. I had the Banana Espresso which was banana with a (double) shot of espresso. It had a hint of chocolatey coffee with small chunks of banana. Yum. Mia had the Lassi Come Home (adorable name btw) with fresh strawberry, yoghurt and strawberry syrup. She said it was like liquefied strawberry ice cream.
I chose the Pulled Pork Roll. The roll was lightly toasted, soft on the inside and crunchy outside. The pork hock was slow cooked then fast cooked - it was tender, smokey and salty, reminded me of ham. Laden with rocket, salsa verde and aoili, you have got one very tasty pork roll. I should mention as well, it was huge. We almost finished it.
Our sweet option was the French Toast. The brioche was crispy on the outside and soft and airy inside. It was heaped with a super generous mound of chocolate ganache, banana cream, caramelised banana, almond slivers, drowned with maple syrup and surrounded by tangy strawberries. Yes, it tasted as good as it looked. All the elements complemented one another perfectly and I especially loved the caramelised banana.
The staff here were friendly and enthusiastic and I seriously don't think I have left a cafe so full. The portions of food, including the drinks were massive. What can I say, who doesn't love good value for your money.
Amazing Milkshakes and Jaffles! Everytime the milkshakes deliver and are on point then if you get one of the delicious jaffles to go with it, even better.
Rosti and mushrooms were to die for. Presentation was great and tasted delicious. The mushrooms were just any ordinary mushrooms, seemed like they had 2 or 3 different types mixed with it. Bacon and poached eggs were added on top and would definitely recommend adding those two for a small fee of $6.50! You'll regret it otherwise. Loved how the shop was pretty much like a milk bar, sells lollies and American drinks which are pretty pricey. Would definitely recommend this to everyone and anyone!
What a lovely little place! Love the interior and all its kitschy wonderment :) I had a very simple bacon and scrambled eggs dish and my partner had some sort of Mexican-style scrambled eggs - both were excellent. Staff were an absolute delight, too.
This place is good value, the food is yum, staff are charming and the hot sauce collection is enviable. The place might need a little reno because it's doesn't look 100% clean. Benedict is as good as you'll find.
Best eggs benny I have had in the city. Staff was really friendly, has cute little candies on the wall. The bread was nice and wasn't hard. I usually have to fight with the toast to cut it. But there bread was great. Was well presented on the plates, the spinach was fresh. The music is perfect ,had some beetles playing and billie Holiday. Come check it out.
One of my favourite cafes in North Melbourne! The staff are friendly and awesome. I love the quirky interior and retro milk bar theme. The jaffle menu is great, they do a ripper spaghetti jaffle.
Good coffee in a friendly environment. Staff were great. Got to try the mastermind coffee it is superb. Toasted sandwiches only $5 on Tuesday's
A quirky interior and a Team to match. Service was open and friendly with meal and milk shake suggestions flowing.
Meals were pleasant just a touch more salt to be added.
Will be one to return too especially for the shakes.
My favourite spot to visit in Nth Melbourne. The food is honest, fresh and amazingly delicious. My kids (1 and 3) love the home made crumpets.
So satisfying. Everything was spot on.
Grigons + Awesome. Awesome coffee, awesome jaffles, awesome cafe!
The fried chicken with crispy fried brussel sprouts and crumpets, represented Southern cuisine. Unfortunately, it could not make me a fan of brussel sprouts. Brussel sprouts will remain forever blasphemous in my eye, however; the wickedly indulgent Tim Tam milkshake was enough for a hypothetical apology. The presentation of dishes could be improved; however strong flavours and an international twist makes Grigons a solid competitor.
The french toast brioche was crispy on the outside and soft and airy inside. It was heaped with a super generous mound of chocolate ganache, banana cream, caramelised banana, almond slivers, drowned with maple syrup and surrounded by tangy strawberries.
I’d lusted over it on the menu but in the end was glad I went with the fritters. I can make pancakes at home, but I can’t make fritters. The menu said blueberries, b
Overall, food's pretty good but for such rude service, doubt I will be returning.
Hidden away in north Melbourne, nestled in the corner of a street is Grigons & Orrs. This cafe is one of my all time favourite places to visit when I just want to hide away, settle in with a good book and enjoy a good cup of coffee. The interior of the Grigons & Orr kinda reminds me of an Asian convenience store that they have back home in Malaysia. When you first walked in, you'll see shelves stacked all the way up to the ceiling, selling everyday goods such as pastas, baked beans in cans, wasabi and a whole lot of random stuff one can think of. The cutest thing is they actually do sell whatever on display so if you are ever running out of milk or oil, you can just pick them up from the cafe, talk about convenience! The cafe itself is really small, fitting only 4 tables inside with a coffee counter displaying different lollies and pastries. Perfectly baked shaped scones, cupcakes covered with rich smooth icing, man they are so hard to resist! There are more seats outside the cafe and
They do lots of home made meals some of which are gluten free and vegan. They also freshly bake their goods too which is nice to see.
Nice little cafe, comfortable atmosphere. Great service, lovely coffee. Well cooked food. Loved the cornerstore look, and really friendly staff. Definitely reccommend.
Awesomeness!. My girlfriend and I will never forget the name or experience we had at Grigons and Orr this weekend. The staff were very helpful and nice even tho it was a busy day, the food was served promptly. ...it was delicious! ! My favorite was the southern fried chicken (breakfast of kings) my girlfriend thoroughly inhaled the pannacotta granola, great coffee and good prices. I highly recommend this to you
Awesome brunch spot. Went to grigons and orr cafe with a few close mates we all thoroughly enjoyed it atmosphere was good the staff were funny and very hospitable great vibe and I feel as though the food was of restaraunt quality perfect combination of flavours I had the cornbread which was egsactly what I was after and my friend boasted about how good his pulled pork and scrambled egg burrito was and as for my other friend she had the panna cotta and granola and she said it tasted great, well balanced. All up we really enjoyed our lunch and experience and will definitely be going back :D
Sunday breakfast - worth trying. I was meaning to try this place for a long time. Finally I did. I had the granola with pannacotta. The panna cotta was rough (i.e. not the ones you would expect in a fancy restaurant), but I enjoy the honesty of the food. It was good. I wish that it was served with a little bit of milk :) Not sure about the flower petals though!
Coffee was nice, perfect temperature and was done just right.
I shall return.
Funky and delicious. Loved the layout of the place, very old-school milkbar but with an ultra modern menu. Had the polenta corn bread with bacon, egg, rocket and maple syrup. Added some spinach to be healthy - yum! It was quite delicious and very very filling. My only gripe was that it was a little dry, the parts where there wasn't any syrup. Also had a banana espresso, and couldn't finish that either! Needed a little chocolate in there though. Will definitely return :))
Thanks for the lovely service as well, very down-to-earth
The best vibes. If you are fortunate enough to nab a seat here, then you're in for a treat. Great little establishment in a fantastic setting - the place is perfect for a cosy coffee and/or breakfast, brunch or lunch. Coffee is great and the food is delicious. Not pretentious at all, which can be the case for cafes with the 'hipster' vibe.
Top work from these folks.
Loved it from start to finish
Great coffee & great eggs on toast
Just went to this place for brunch and it was awesome!!! I had the corn bread and it was easily the best corn bread I've ever had! My sister had the shakshouka and that was perfect! The friend chicken looked delicious so I'll be back next weekend to try it. New favourite spot in Melbourne :)
Great Sunday breakfast. Great coffee. .great food. .small place but lovely. we had banana jaffas and mexican burrito. .both excellent. definitely be returning.
Fantastic breakfast spot.. Have always been able to get a table for breakfast here. Food and coffee is great, especially loved the goats cheese with my eggs. The inside is quite charming and interesting, I considered starting my own spoon collection after seeing theirs. The cakes were delicious, seemed home made. The lady at the counter has a mean face and was a bit rude, would still recommend eating here though.
It's just like stepping into your grandparents living room for a cup of tea, in a good way! The feel of the place is homely and the staff contribute to making this cafe such a relaxing place. My coffee was great quality, they ground the beans in front of me so I was sure of its freshness. It's a place you could sit and waste the afternoon away, which is exactly what I did. I'll be back for food next time.
Great food and great service. I came in after stumbling across your shop....lucky me! Great breakfast roll, even though I wish I bought some more, because it was so damn tasty, and the coffee, great!
Really love the retro corner store set up, the quaint teacups, and the spoon collection. The service was friendly and the food tasty
Great food , really homely , lovely crew , my new breakfast venue ! Yummy :-)
Had the Uncle Bennies with smoked salmon and a hot chocolate for breakfast. The eggs were beautiful, the hollandaise sauce was THE BEST I've ever had, and the hot chocolate was so good I had to have another one! And the staff were really friendly. Thanks guys!
Love the corner store concept, food has been delicious and well presented every time, my fav is the corn fritters and tim tam milkshake. Hidden gem!
Came to this cafe today for coffee. friendly staff and food looked good too. definitely will come back to try their food.
An awesome cafe in Nth Melbourne. Great food, awesome food and friendly staff. Great coffee'
Stunning!. Sunday morning Brekky with a slight hangover.
"Funky hipster" fitout, great reuse of an old corner store. Protip - if it looks full downstairs remember there are tables upstairs.
Ordered the Corn Cakes with Poacked egg and Bacon. Corn Cakes were solid without being stodgy, Egg and Bacon were brilliant, Hollandiase was just lemony enough. Great Coffee.
$23/head for brekky - good find and will be back next I am in town!
The food was amazing (vegetarian baguette, goats cheese, yumm)
And the iced latte was perfect.
The staff were lovely and gave me excellent service!
Like it a lot. Hidden gem in north Melbourne. The corn fritter is nice and can fill you. Generous about of Bacon come with the dish cooked to perfection. Like the pineapple shake. will come again for the other special shakes !
Retro heaven. I love this place. The food is not that amazing although the cous cous with poached eggs is great. It is just the decor which brings me back time and time again. If it's cold outside, there are granny blankets to wrap yourself in. There are always yummy desserts and pastries and I usually get free lollies. The coffee could be a bit better, sometimes tastes thin and burnt. But really the detail and love put into the visuals is enough to make me come back for more.
Great breakfast. Uncle Bennies was great, jaffle town classic was filling, scramble egg on toast was a little on the blatant side. Everything was fine, cosy corner, outdoor was windy and sunny at the same time.
There is an upstairs corner but its slight stuffy on a windy day. Staff was great and helpful, will come again if Im nearby!
Ever wondered where all those souvenir spoons end up? Some of them are in your Uncle Kevin’s pool room, and the rest are here. Being used, as spoons! The decor is cosy and retro, there are two rooms upstairs, a few tables downstairs, and some outside, so you’ll find your spot whatever the day. I had a fabulous crumpet dish with poached pears. Loved it.
Great corner spot with a retro feel and unique creations. Ordered the savoury crumpets with extra maple syrup, my partner got the croquettes that were delicious!
Fantastic breakfast in a lovely part of the neighborhood. Charming little shop with great friendly staff. Had the sweet crumpets, and the honeycomb butter that came with them easily stole the show. Snickers milkshake and the banana espresso really topped everything off perfectly!
rustic charm + nice coffee + delightful jaffles = must return next time I visit Melbourne, and bring the missus and bub along!
A great example of retro. Love their organic crumpets. Excellent brunch menu - excellent coffee. Cosy rooms. Great staff. The jaffa menu is extensive and quirky. I like this place.
Friendly staff and really good jaffles. Coffee just ok, but they specialise in milkshakes so I'll be back for one.
Nice place to enjoy your own time in sunny day. Well-lit, good ventilated area for dining, reading or daydreaming. Good food quality as well, friendly staff. Excellent space quality.
