We often come to this restaurant it’s one of our favourites in lygon street!the service and food was outstanding and the best food we have eaten at this restaurant!the staff were really nice and helpful.couldnt fault the food or service!

Walking Lygon Street looking for lunch and the waiter convinced us to come in. Sat outside, which was lovely and comfy. Big menu with heaps of options - pasta, pizza and more. My pasta was very good - full of flavour, fresh and good amount of heat. Everyone enjoyed their dishes. Good serving sizes. Family friendly. Not particularly good value for the prices - my pasta dish was $28. Service was friendly.
Food: The food was great, exactly what you’d expect from an Italian Restaurant.
Service: We had a beautiful woman named Cass, she was the nicest and most polite lady I’ve ever encountered in a restaurant. She didn’t stop smiling and the service was so quick and professional.
Aesthetic: Everything is well set out, the tables are a little close together but over all a nice feel.
Price: Possibly could be cheaper but I wasn’t disappointed by the Quilty of food to the amount we paid.
Really liked this restaurant sat outside and was really impressed with the food and service, will definitely go back again! I had the calamari with a salad and it was delicious my partner had meat with chips and he really enjoyed it.

After long day I finish work I drive past on Lygon street Carlton. I felt like fish so went inside and order the best grill barramundi fillet I ever had! Whatever you on Lygon street you must go in and try!
Wonderful service and excellent food the ortolana pizza and spaghetti marina is to die for thank you to this amazing place always on my list!!!

Don't know why the low review. My friend and I were pressed for time so we made a quick decision to come here. I gotta be honest, i wasn't expecting much so I played it safe and got a pizza. Much to my surprise, I look up to see some other dog out the window marking his territory on the lamp post out front - which cut my evening short as I promptly investigated the scene.
We were walking towards the steakhouse further down, when the good looking fellow out the front sweet talked us and promised us a good steak. We succumbed due to hunger but also have never experienced hospitality staff engaging with people walking down the street. And even if they weren't interested he was polite and wished them a lovely night.
He was not wrong in the steak. The large piece of steak was cooked to perfection, the sauce was one of those sauces you wish to lick the bowl it's that amazing with the right amount of mushrooms, a good serve of salad and humour and great service to boot. Definitely recommend to anyone.
Food was nice and service friendly, pizzas were hands down much better than the pastas and the coffee was good.

Had an unplanned dinner here with a few friends, was put off by the rating, but turned out surprisingly good.
My Gnocchi Primavera had a nice, creamy sauce with tasty tomato, mushroom pieces and the Gnocchi pieces were soft and squidgy.
Given the plethora of similar options on this street, it's tough deciding without aid but we were glad to have dined here.
I ate the Linguine with clams and garlic, I was salivating whilst eating it. Would definitely recommend that dish. I also had the Morton bay bugs, I little dry but the taste was still in them.
What actually made my visit there worth me staying for 3 and a half hours was the service, especially from the young waitress with the lovely smile and the beautiful eyes. She was very attentive and helpful, she recommended a desert, that melted in my mouth. Thanks again 😊
Great service and good for families. Kids had pizza which was fantastic, and my wife had bbq garlic prawns which were great. I had fettuccine pollo which unfortunately was not that great, chicken was a quick defrost which you could tell by the square shape and it was tough, a bit let down by this dish, otherwise a great place.
La Spaghetteria is a great family owned restaurant. To start I will say it's been quite some since I've eaten there but I know from past experience their high standards barely change. If not gradually improve, as any impressive restaurant does. I will say the plating presentation may be forgivable, but, I believe they provide a truly rustic and authentic Mediterranean experience. Upon entering the premise you are greeted with a kind an comforting ambiance. Warming with subtle hints of garlic, oregano, basil a hint of wonder and charm.Their wine list is impeccable. They also provide all of the standard soft drinks and more. Not to mention a generous beer selectionIf it's veal saltimbocca, something with a classic white wine sauce, a good parma, or even one of, what I believe to be, their world class pizzas, you cant cannot go wrong for a truly remarkable dining experience.
Always a regular at Lygon Street, Carlton so visiting this restaurant was always on my agenda. Reading through the reviews which are mixed however there's a lot of negative. In my experience it was a typical Lygon St restaurant service was efficient and pretty quick to be honest. I had garlic bread for entree and a fettuccine creamy pasta which was delicious. I wouldn't say this is the best pasta you will ever have but its pretty good for what it is. Will come back for sure.

We had a great time here. The staff where friendly, helpful and funny! My gnocchi main and the other's pizzas were out of this world. The mixed drinks were small and expensive but the food was great.
Yummy if you feel like a big bowl of pasta! Fabulous service from the young girls there. Probably wouldn't go again as it wasn't a stand out.

We had "The Lot" pizza to start between the four of us,
then the surf n turf for my hubby who is a massive meat lover said its one of the best stake he has ever eaten in a while.
I ordered the fettuccine polo & avocado...yum !
And other two guest had the the barramundi fillet with veg sides & the chicken breast toped with avocado.
Coffee was perfect & so was the home made deserts !
All topped off which outstanding customer service !

All on our table were impressed. Amazing pasta dishes with great flavours. Beautiful slow cooked meat dishes with a good range of wine to match each meal. Surprisingly priced for the quality of food.

2 visit to lygon. So our first visit to lygon street was at johnny carenos..DONT GO THERE..so our second visit was at la spahetteria and i must say it was an enjoyable experience. dont let the other reviews influence you. just go and judge for yourself

When I first saw the score I was worries but now am shocked by the low score. I emjoye the food and both quantity and quality. Ravioli Cabonara.
I looked at urbanspoon after I sat for dinner ... 34% .. Hum I got scared ! Honestly it's not reflecting the reality - service very nice - food good - especially the ravioli :) - maybe some restaurant around around don't like the owner and put bad reviews ! Maybe because he mentioned that all the restaurants hire indiens or Chinese to cook Italian food .. Street revenge ?
I can't believe the low rating of this reataurant - the food was delicious, we could not fault any of the dishes. Tried pizza, pasta and a veal dish and all were excellent. Service was good. Definitely would return. Excellent dinner for good price.
Very prompt & friendly service. Food came out quite quickly. Lovely outside dining area with outdoor heaters. I had spaghetti, my fiancé has garlic steak & we both agree the food was amazing. Nice cold drinks. Beautiful.
Amazing food. I came here with a few of my girlfriends not that long ago, the food and service were top notch! However, when we were sitting down waiting for our food, there was an unshave, scrubby looking deaf guy (think he is related to the owners or workers) there just staring at us which made us feel uncomfortable. He was sitting with some friends of his and we noticed a number of times him doing sexual hand gestures to his friends and pointing at us girls. We were disgusted so we rushed eating our dinner so we could leave! We might try this place again soon with the off chance that he was only there that night. The food and service was beautiful though and the guy working on the door lurering in customers was really nice and he gave us each a complimentry drink

I have been here twice and it's been great both times! As a visitor from Sydney, I venture to Lygon St each trip craving a good hearty Italian 'home cooked' style meal and this place certainly delivers. Both times I have been here, I have had Pasta that has been cooked perfectly and is flavoursome without being too salty or full of 'fake tomato' flavor you find at other italian restaurants. It's an old school vibe, but that's what I love about it! Our food came within 10-15 minutes on both occassions- very quick service! I will definitely return to La Spaghetteria on my next trip and will reccommend to others!
Good food. I had marinara pizza and it was so so good! The waiter that served us was also very friendly. On top of that, the best thing is my friend and I got a glass of Moscato for each person for free. Amazing!

Great food I always enjoy the food here, big sizes, great taste, friendly staff, especially the bald man on the front door!! He gave me a free drink card!!
