I’m always tempted by the new flavours and today was no different with a salted caramel tart. I can honestly say this one is better than the original so if you haven’t tried do yourself a favour and get one in your gob. The only flavour I haven’t tried yet is yuzu... next time!

Tried the blueberry, original, yuzu and strawberry. Was pretty good. A bit expensive but was ok to try once. Please eat them right after you buy them when they're nice, warm and fresh. The cheese will ooze out and it tastes 100% better when fresh.
Consistently gorgeous cheese tarts – the filling is smooth, milky and sweet, and the pastry is always crispy. The staff are friendly as well. I took my chef friend to try one, and she was gobsmacked from how delicious and unique it was.
Wait for a batch fresh out of the oven specially during winter months, which in Melbourne could be anytime of the year !
J’s score 4.75+ stars. After searching around for a dessert place, J decided to get a Yuzu cheese tart from here on Wed 13th Nov. Staff lovely, efficient. Only a small amount of seating outside, so she took it to the Bubble Cup in QV.
The tart was dreamy, she couldn't imagine anything else that could be better. Crispiest of pastry, and delightful oozy creamy lemony/citrusy custard.
I don't think you could go wrong with hokkaido cheese tarts. It is what it is and taste delicious. Only thing is that they are pretty expensive now and sometimes it does not taste as fresh depending on when you get it.
Not having been here in ages I was walking past so I called in. The service was excellent, friendly, kind and personable.
The baked cheese tart was very good. light and creamy, a good biscuit base, and this place is still worth a visit. Enjoy :)

After my coffee this morning I stumbled across this place in the city.
I love these little tarts and this is the second time that I've seen them and not having had lunch I decided to grab one. Because sometimes you just need to satisfy that craving because if I don't I won't stop thinking about the cheesecake tart haha
The ladies who served me were very sweet, especially when I said I'd like to take a photo of the cheesecakes for my friends. One lady jumped bask and the other lady made everything look nice and neat for me hahaha how sweet :)

Baked cheese tarts were delicious, strawberry and yuzu were the perfect amount of sweet and sour. The match Oreo soft serve ice cream was yummy however it lacked the matcha element as it’s merely dusted with powder. However the ice cream itself was delicious, not too sweet and perfect with some Oreo.

Hokkaido is known for their dairy and cheese and these cheese tarts are an absolute winner! It is a combination of a shortcrust base with an amazing cheese filling which makes its fluffy. Be sure to eat them when it's hot to get the optimum taste.
I have to say I'm a massive fan of these gorgeous little cheese tarts. They are the perfect little sweet treat, and I love the Japanese spin on the custard tart. With several outlets across Melbourne, this one at QV is super convenient, and their window display just draws you in.
At over $4 each, they aren't cheap, but you can get a discount of 6 for $20 which isn't too bad. With a variety of delicious flavours such as yuzu, blueberry, strawberry, apple and of course the original, I had to get a mixed box at my last visit.
The texture is delightfully creamy, and the pastry is fabulous. My favourite flavours are the strawberry and yuzu, but they are all yummy. Service is really good. Quick and friendly, the ladies here really know what they are doing. Hokkaido are definitely worth a visit if you are after a little sweet treat or some yummy desserts.
Absolutely love their cheese tart. It's kind of addictive, you feel like having one after the other. It just melts in your mouth 😋 Absolutely love this place.

Another favourite snack place of ours is Hokkaido Cheese Tarts, with a shortbread like tart and wonderful cheesy filling, this place was the first one in the city. Almost on par for price as Pafu...
These cheese tarts have been on my wishlist for the longest time possible. When the QV store opened last year all I could see was people carrying this beautiful yellow boxes everywhere. Finally the day arrived when I went in & brought a 6 tart takeaway! Went home & put them in the oven for a few minutes & voila.. Lovely warm oozing tarts were ready to eat (no I didn't eat all by myself!). I have read numerous reviews that the original ones are the best but I loved the Strawberry tart (and I am not even a Strawberry fan!). One bite into it and I was in cheese heaven (literally!). The original was pretty good too but I was not so blown away.
Verdict - Def try once but I didn't find them value for money ($4.20 a pop!) so unsure if I will go back. Maybe just for a single Strawberry one 😉
I love the cheese tarts here! The oozy lava-like cheese, and the crumbly sweet tart shell is the perfect balance between sweet and savoury. You can have it warm and freshly out of the oven (my personal favourite), cooled in the fridge, or even frozen in the freezer which creates an ice cream-like consistency. Recently, however, when I’ve come to try it, it’s not as warm or fresh as it used to be. So I prefer to take it home and bake it again.
Loved this back in south east asia, now I’m pleased to be having it in Melbourne! Only tried the OG so far, so I guess I gotta go back to try every other flavour too.
I love those oozy cheese tarts which is great when they make them fresh. Today I saw a new release of a 'coffee pan' bun.
It had a strong coffee scent and very crispy top. Served warm and as I ripped the fluffy bun open, there were yellow oozy moist butter-like filling. Really yummy! My phone was outta batt charging at Target shopping centre whilst I roamed around to wait for it so unable to take a photo.
Awesome combination of mouth watering cheese on tarts. The original one is the best. Also had the strawberry one which was also amazing but not better than plain cheese tart.
A bit pricey but damn delicious! The buttery aroma is intoxicating, and the pastry just crumbles and melts in your mouth! The cheese filling is rich, creamy and super satisfying.
I was lucky enough to try the pop-up Hokkaido Cheese Tart experience and whilst the idea was novel, nothing beats the original!

I was VERY impressed by the original cheese tart, and it’s hard to impress me on the Asian food front since I grew up in Asia. I was rather disappointed with the blueberry cheese tart. It’s not that it’s not tasty, it’s just that if you’ve tried the original and then had a taste of the blueberry one, you’d be let down. Go old school with the cheese tarts. You won’t regret it. I’d definitely be back for a snack... or five.

It is an inexpensive tart with a very good crust and a generous cover of slightly sweetened melted cheese. It's a very good option for a miniature, yet quality dessert.
I was invited to decorate some Hokkaido cheese tarts at their pop up store outside their QV location. I've never had these before and didn't have any expectations, and maybe thats why it tasted so AMAZING !
The outer crust is like shortbread, its a bit sweet and the texture crumbles in your mouth, so delicious!
When I heard "Cheese Tart" I was thinking more savoury. But the filling is sweet with a smooth and creamy texture that oozes out (see photo) and with the addition of popcorn & marshmallows... well that just tipped the flavour over the edge 😍 (That was me customising my own tart, although I do think Hokkaido should consider this a permanent flavour 😛)
There is also great customer service from both the marketing end and the workers! Thanks for a great event, these tarts are most certainly going to become my cheat day treats 💛
Today I was invited to a pop up just outside this store which takes the delicious original tarts made in here and allows you (for a limited time only) to customise them with your own toppings.
I love this concept so much and I enjoyed my salted caramel sauce and coconut flake creation so immensely I think it should be one for the permanent range, hint hint

Valentine’s Day went off with a bang when I realised husband had procured a strawberry Hokkaido cheese tart for my breakfast. This is their newest flavour I’ve been abstaining from since late last year in a vain attempt to be somewhat healthy.
I’m addicted to these little things for their perfect crumbly bases and silky smooth cheese filling. Strawberry is a worthy addition to their range and being red it tied in with the V day theme nicely. I’m excited to see what other flavour variants they come up with in future
I’d heard about these...and the hype is worth it. Buttery crust pastry...cheesy soft gooey centre...custard like but cheesy but not over powering...the caramelised top layer... 😍
I have tried the original flavour and the blueberry flavour and both are so amazing. I love the tart best when it is warm and the cheese is gooey. It is a sweet yet savoury indulgence that I often take home to have with a cup of tea.

Tried all the flavors at once. Really recommend the original one and the strawberry one. Yuzu is a limited flavor and it tastes great!! Blueberry one is also a good choice. The taste of the tarts are mixed with sweet and a little bit salty, which is really great to have a try!!
Forgot the naysayers, this is the real deal. Forget the flavours, original is the best. Perfect when they are hot out of the oven. Perfect any time really
First time trying these, chose the original and the strawberry as the textures would be different.
Both were nicely flavoured,and well made. Not very rich nor very sweet and were quite light, the three of us shared two to try these out since they are not available in Vancouver.
Would recommend trying these if given the opportunity, even for those who generally don’t enjoy cheesecake.

I was tempted by smell and went in. It feels like bakery and tart shops in train stations in Japan . Good smell and good taste. A bit pricey but very nice. It has a very cheesy taste so if you are into sweetness then try the blueberry. Will try again .
Favourite mid week snack, delicious either hot or cold. The base and cheesy creamy filling go so well together.
A small range of different flavours but my favourite is the original. Down side: a little pricey.
Always enjoy a nice cheese tart, and Hokkaido although a franchise with multiple venues in Victoria, they always seem to deliver quality tarts, Strawberry and Blueberry are my go to always as well as the OG original as well!
Friendly staff as always and the greetings when you go into store reminds me of Japan! Keep up the quality of products and staffing there. Just wish it didn’t cost as much though, can’t have it all I guess!

Had both their cheese tarts and soft serve.
The original cheese tart was delicious! Great oozing cheesy goodness that wasnt too heavy and was just the perfect balance of soft creamy texture with light cheese flavours, just like how a Japanese cheese tart should be. The tart shell was well composed as well and had just the right amount of buttery-ness to it. The strawberry cheese tart, on the other hand, was underwhelming as the strawberries didnt really add much flavour to the original and I think it took away the texture as well as the cheesiness.
Similarly, the soft serve ice cream was also underwhelming. I again preferred the original more than the berry flavoured soft serve, but the cheese flavour itself was lacking. Texture wise, the soft serve was nice and silky, just like how soft serve should be, but I was hoping for a stronger cheese taste. The berry one also lacked in berry flavour. For the price, though, I would go for their soft serve over some of their neighbouring soft serve creameries though. At least its nice and smooth and not icy and rather cheap.
G damn these tarts are so delicious. Strawberry is amazing but try an original if you've never been before. Crumbly, buttery pastry, amazing mix of sweet and savoury flavours- one is enough but I could probs gorge on these all day.
These are so iconic I was so excited to try them! The cheese one was nice, but you have to like that “is this sweet or is this savoury” taste. I liked them but couldn’t eat too many of them. I did really like the chocolate ones. Creamy chocolate cheesecake perfect with a cup of coffee.
I had the in laws in town and knew we had to go here to get them to try the cheesecake. This time we got strawberry blueberry and original. The original one is my fav and strawberry my least favourite but they were to die for!!!
Oh lord… these things… where do I begin? Just go… now. We were strolling around town during White Night (2018) and stumbled upon this cute little shop and just could not get past the smell wafting out the front door. We decided we had to try at least one (as we had just had a pretty large meal and later some drinks at a Jazz concert and were pretty stuffed). We went with the classic (plain) one. They are not cheap mind you. I think they were like $4.20 a pop but this thing was SO delicious! The tart crust was buttery and hot. The cheese curd was absolutely delicious. I don't know if you guys ever tried (straight) powdered milk as a child but the taste of these things was reminiscent of that. Beautiful golden exterior. Oozing goodness. I can't wait to be back and try the other flavors they have. Highly recommended!
I wrote a review but for some reason it didn’t work so I’ll make this one short. The Hokkaido Cheesecake Tart was the same as the other stores, in other words delicious, messy and like cheesecake but runny with a yummy biscuit tart shell.
I also tried the cream cheese soft serve and it was horrible. I don’t know if it was off or it was meant to taste like vomit cheese. I didn’t lower the rating much because of the soft serve because it was a sample. The lady working here was so sweet and it really made our night. The cheese tart was definitely the highlight of White Night on this end of the city.
This was my first shop I ever had the Hokkaido cheese tart and boy were they yummy . Since releasing the new flavors I have to say strawberry is my favorite. It is expensive for what it is though

These tarts are definitely on the pricier side. They are quite decadent and probably pack a lot of calories but hey, can't hurt once in awhile 😜
The crust is perfect combined with the cheesy-ness of the filling.
I love the baked cheese tart from here. The place smell good and the cheese tart is bake freshly. I enjoy the taste but found it abit pricey for the portion size. But I still would come back again because its unique and it's different from custard tart and egg tart. Service was good. 😀😋
Tried the blueberry cheese tart. It tasted delicious. The pastry was firm and the inside was warm, sweet and gooey just the way I like my tarts. The first bite is the best! The pastry and cheesy insides are a great combination.
Downside is, it’s pretty pricey. I don’t think it’s worth the price, around $4 for a little tart :/

Came here for the launch of their chizu(cheese) soft serve($3). Lines were long and it was cold but so worth it! It's so creamy and has a fragrant cheese flavour just like the tart itself.

Be prepared for a cheesy, gooey, buttery and crumbly party in your mouth! The cheese filling just oozes out whilst the shortbread like crust crumbles with a slight crunch. The blueberry one is nice as the fruit contrasts with the richness of the tart but go for original if you want richness overload. I like mine better when they're heated in the microwave for 10-15 seconds as they're not very warm when you get them in-store. I find that they become too much after I finish the second one but I can't stick to having just one! Do note that they can be pricey at $4.20 but they are definitely worth a try!
Service is efficient and friendly. I also love the massive window at the front displaying all the delicious tarts. Great that all the branches of this chain seem consistent so far. Will come back to try the chocolate one :)
Blueberries are in season so Hokkaido came up with blueberry cheesecake tart! Very refreshing and delicious, it's definitely worth a try. Although I reckon chocolate is still my absolute favourite:)

Nearing the end of his long journey our noble and valiant foodie hero searched anew for something to quench the insatiable beast within that was his appetite. And so with a mind to something sweet he happened upon the small nation of Hakkaido which he immediately christened with the name 'Hadouken' in honor of the mighty warrior Ryu. Just beyond the clear window lay the promise of sweet and cheesy tarty goodness and our noble foodie hero was always somewhat partial to tarts.
Ordering a chocolate cheese tart he took said tart outside where he proceeded to wolf it down with satisfaction. It was at once crumbly, gooey, chocolatey and cheesy and our noble foodie hero was sated and pleased with the day's journey. But the silver carriage awaited that would take our noble foodie hero back to the dull town of Deadwood and so with mixed emotions he made his way to the station of trains to begin the journey.

LIT!: I didn't think I would have enjoyed the chocolate tart more than the original tart, but it was a nice surprise! The cheese base takes away the overwhelming chocolate that you think would be there otherwise.
NOT SO LIT: pricey for what it is.

I was fairly skeptical about a cheesecake tart. Sounded like it was too much flavor, but when I finally tried it, one just isn't enough! So good and the shop smells amazing even from the outside!
You cannot pass the shop without being attracted by the bakedcakes smell. It's good though when finishing one tart, I started feeling greasy. What's the bad point? The price is really costly for a small cake.
Every time I go to Melbourne, I always try to stop at Artemis Lane to pick up a couple months supply of Japanese tea from Lupicia. Last time when I left though, I was so pleased to see that Hokkaido Baked Cheese Tart had opened opposite. . With the tray of tarts beckoning me, I went in to “rescue” one.
little bit of heaven right here in the CBD, absolutely delicious, I prefer the original to the choc coated ones, especially when they're warm from the oven. Could fast become addictive.

The tart was soooooo good. I thought it would have firm texture but after the first bite, the cheese melted. And it was sooo damn good. Not too sweet. Just perfect.

When you're not feeling like a cupcake, you want something more than a macaron, you're not feeling like a sugary donut, you don't want to spend too much for a fancy cake, and it's too cold for ice cream, then this is the treat for you.
The pastry is crunchy, not too sweet. The filling is tangy, creamy, sweet, gooey, warm, crunchy, filling, but moreish. You can have it warm on site, or take it home, put it in the fridge and have it chilled. I'm a huge fan of these tarts, and they have managed to maintain the flavour profile of the Japanese version. I also have major respect for a bakery that sells only ONE item. It's brave, ballsy and fabulous.
Eh - I don't really get the hype surrounding this place. I was anticipating for the opening of this place, but I wasn't 'wowed' by the flavours at the end. Yes, the cheese was oozy and jelly-like. Yes, the tart was crumbly. But there was just nothing unique in the tarts. It is pretty good though and they all seemed to be pretty uniformly cooked well.
The hokkaido cheese tart may be a bit pricey, but it's also delicious. The tart itself I reckon can be a little thinner, but the cheese filling was good. Anything that's cheese is delicious. Worth trying them cheese tarts

Hokkaido Baked cheese tarts have now arrived in Melbourne for quite a while now and yes, they’re a dessert except it’s a touch on the savoury side. The one at QV didn’t have a line so I went inside and got a few for everyone. At $3.90 a tart, it is a bit on the expensive side but that’s what you’d expect from a specialty store opening up in Melbourne. When you step inside, you can definitely smell the baked goodness and it smelt divine. A bite into these babies and you can taste the cheesiness and it just oozes right out. I’d prefer it to be a bit more fluffy but hey, that’s just what I’m into.
My husband was standing perplexed at the sign outside the door. It almost read like a menu ... except with only one thing on it. After a few moments, he said "You know, it's strange how they say this is the 'original' version when it is the only thing they sell. Why not just say 'cheese tart'?"
I said nothing while munching away on my warm and buttery tart. I assumed it was a rhetorical question. I didn't care if this tart was original or not-so-original ... it was an amazing tart and I was more worried about crumbs falling into my blouse.
So the verdict on the "Hokkaido Original Baked Cheese Tart" is 5/5! If you only do one thing but you do it well, then that's enough. It's wonderful. Thank you for your contribution to the tart world.

I just came back from skiing in Niseko, Hokkaido and enjoy many of the famous cheese tarts whilst I was there. Thinking it will be at least the 2017/18 ski season before I get to have those delicious snacks again I was cautiously excited about this cafe. Of course I did not expect it to be the same, but Australian milk is excellent so I did have high expectations. I was somewhat let down by the pastry itself, which to me is quite disappointing! The filling was very good, although different. At $4 a pop it is on the pricer side. Bit of an over reach...
On our way to a dinner we noticed a baked cheesy smell and with tons of people holding the yellow hokkaido paper bag we were keen to try some. The store only have one original cheese flavour and I felt one was just the right amount as the taste is very rich. The outer pastry is crispy and buttery like a butter cookie, the cheese centre is soft, creamy and not too sweet. Price is a bit expensive as they were $4 each.
Delicious! I would recommend you to try their baked cheese Tarts at least once :) a nice afternoon snack to get and have (or if you bought more, share! or keep for the rest of the week to snack on) after work or uni on your way back home :)
Bought it for the tennis night of Federal v Nadal final 2017. Creamy, runny cheese filling with the right amount of sweetness on a crispy biscuit base. Very comforting and almost indulgent. A bit pricy to eat everyday though. Eat while it's hot or heat it in the oven!
Came here on their soft opening in QV. I ordered their renowned baked cheese tart for about $4/5 (I completely forgot). The price was reasanable and the tart itself was succulent, crisp on the outside and moist on the inside. It was pretty good! Thumb up 👍
