Came here a few times and had a few items from the menu:
- The cracking pork is really nice, however, it can get a bit salty and super hard though.
- The bbq pork roll is nice, a lot of meat in it!
- The roast pork with salad - this is nice, the slaw and pork matched well together and balanced the flavours, the only downside is that there are a lot of oil dripping from it as you can see at the bottom of the container.
We ordered Mr Crackles’ Classic roll and a crackling cup on the side. The roll was massive in portion and stuffed with tender chunky pork belly pieces and fresh Vietnamese salad - it was so delicious! The crackling cup on the side added extra crunch to our lunch. The only downside was Mr Crackles was a takeaway/fast food style joint so there were barely any seats/spots even for a quick feed.
Those crackling are amazing and the meat roll is yummy! The service is good and they can get quite busy during peak hours
Been on the list for a long time and didn’t disappoint. Had a bit of everything but was very impressed with the quality of the pork... crackle excellent, beautiful flavours and not too fatty either. The char Sui pork was also superb
The pork was some of the juiciest pork I’ve had, with crunchy crackle on top it gets a massive tick!! Potato gems and chicken bites both very nice, the Mac and cheese special was just ok.
Friendly happy looking staff behind the counter. Amazing view of the meat on display. Love the preparation in front from the cutting of the crackling to ladling on the fixins. A bit too pricey to be a go to place, it seems to be a dressed up version of a Bahn mi :)
Walked in on a Tuesday evening around 5:30pm and there was no line up.
The restaurant itself is quite small, only seating approx 15ppl at counters around the perimeter of the restaurant.
The menu is pretty straight forward; Pork, pork and more pork.
The classic crackles was good. The baguette was crunchy, the vietnamese salad was pickled carrots, cucumber and cabbage. The star of the roll was the roast pork. Soft, juicy and tender the meat was cooked perfectly. The crackling was crisp and not overly salty. The only issue I had was that the meat was actually cold. Even if it was a tad warm it would of made the roll that little bit better in my opinion.
Looking forward to trying out the other items on the menu. The char siu looked amazing tasty.
Approx. $20pp
this place is sooooo good
the pork is so succulent
and the service is top notch 🤤
my boyfriend got the bbq pork in a roll⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
and i got the pork w/ veggies ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

the most glorious pork roll for a while 😍 vietnamese style pork roll with crispy pork 🤗 if only i could have one everyday 🙁 8/10 for flavour, texture and price!
I've been meaning to try out this popular outlet for ages and managed to do so on a wet and cold weekend night. Who doesn't like pork crackle right?
The shop was warm and comforting. It was unfortunately slightly dishevelled bordering on dirty but they must have been too busy to notice. I had the crackles classic. The crispy pork crackle was exactly what my dreams are made of. The pork meat was tender and went well with the fresh crunchy Vietnamese salad. My only complaint was that the roll was hard as! It was abrasive on my palate.
The pork crackle with chicken salt was way too salty. Best to go with the nori one next time.
So it wasn't a perfect experience but it was certainly close enough!
My partner and I got the lamb shoulder, pork belly, keto bowl and extra pork crackling.
Lamb shoulder: Incredibly tender and moist, full of flavour and melted in your mouth.
Pork belly: Pork meat was very juicy and succulent, and the skin complimented the meat perfectly.
Keto bowl: Vegetables complimented the meat very well and created nice contrast to the fattiness and marbling of the meat.
Pork crackling: Incredibly crunchy and salty, just the way we like it. Full of flavour and very satisfying.
Thanks Mr Crackle! Was a home run.
We stumbled upon this place by chance and it simply blew us away. They serve up the yummiest pork crackles and rolls. We also got the wedges to go with our rolls and everything was super delicious.
Aaaand the best part is that this place is open late into the night.. so bookmark this one for those late night cravings!
Mr Crackles is a sweet and rich, fast food restaurant where you can get the best crispy pork belly in these lovely buns. They have a lot of different choices but I love the crispy pork belly. You should see the amount of crackle they have, waiting to be served. You can even by a box full of crackles.
Had one with the lot of meat and boy oh boy was i impressed. Meat was perfect, no gristle, well cooked pork pieces and generous helpings. The crackling was a welcome addition and i certainly will be back.
My friend brought me the Crackles Classic and some famous pork crackling from Mr Crackles the other day. The Crackles Classic comes in a baguette-style roll that remind me of eating a banh mi. The pork is very tender and rich and there’s a lot of sauce too. The crispy spin is delightful. I actually prefer the crispy skin of the meat in the roll over the actual crispy pork crackling, which was a bit too hard and not the most pleasant. Worth a try!
Yum!!!! Pork + crackle + bread + mayo = delicious! Roll of the month with 3 types of pork - YUM. We also had a cup of crackle... wish it came with a dipping sauce. But delicious nonetheless
We had the roll of the month which had three types of meat. One of the best rolls! The meat was tender and full of flavour. Crackles were super delicious. We will be back again
The pork was really good. Wouldn’t recommend the baguette, since it was really hard. The soft bun was soft, which personally I think suits better. All the fillings were tasty. The meat was tender and flavourful. The pork belly had crispy skin and tender meat/fat. They also offer meat only, which can be eaten with rice. Overall, Mr. Crackles was worth to try.
I ordered the Buffalo Wings and a Meat and Salad (Belly Pork and Vietnamese salad). This casual place prepares dishes with an interesting combination of English (crackling), Asian (flavours in some dishes), American (succulent meat) and Melbourne (clean, fresh, healthy and generous) cooking techniques. They guys in the kitchen know how to cook. They are preparing food with techniques many chefs don't master in their life. The belly pork was amazing. Every melt in the mouth piece into my mouth was memorable. The crackling had all the fat rendered off. It was like eating a potato crisp. II loved how the Vietnamese salad seemed to be freshly washed and there wasn't too much mayonnaise to spoil the flavour of the meat. The Buffalo Wings were fresh, juicy and were red with a chili marinade - the way it's supposed to be. This place also has char siu and roast lamb on the menu. The homemade chili sauce was fabulous. A window of fried crackling sold like potato chips. You don't need to go to a 5-star restaurant to eat the best meat dishes (they do everything but, beef here). Come here instead. The prices are super decent. Highly memorable food. My mouth is still watering
Finally! Roast pork in Melbourne!
Definitely get the bogan over any other roll. Bun is perfect with the pork gravy chips and cheese.
Their salad was actually better than expected! I could eat this everyday!
Average bbq wings
Atmosphere was nice, just need to open up a store in the west of melbourne!
Staff were quite poker faced, didn’t interact with customers that well.
Would return if I’m in the city craving for roast pork.
Take your lover, friends and family here for some crackling goodness.
Great value and portion size, I got the roast pork and roast veges from the “Meat & Salads” section – $14.50 for a small – the roast veges must change daily, when I had it there were potatoes, cauliflower and pumpkin, these were slightly flavoured with cumin spice. The pork was amazing, juicy but crispy, salty but not sickening. It goes well with the veges. There are a few tables for people to dine in, but it seems that most people grab roast to go. Customer service was stunning.
Mr Crackles is literally perfect at 2pm or 2am. They should be the measuring stick on how to make a pork roll. Their “Bogan” roll is to die for.
Oh boy. Was excited to try Mr Crackles which has been on my list fr a little while. Excitedly ordered the classic from the very friendly gentleman behind the counter. Divine! The best pork crackle I have tasted!!! Yummo.
Holy crap the pork belly was good! This place was super packed when I came, the shop was smaller than I thought with only a little bit of seats.
I ordered the large roast meat salad $18.50 and the bogan fries $13.50 for two people and dayum it was filling. The pork belly was just so crispy, juicy and fatty all in the right places, cooked to perfection. Bogan fries were also good, the salad wasn’t too bad as the dressing cut through all the meatiness. Although I felt the dressing also got a little tooo sour when you eat more of it.
Definitely would come back to try one of the rolls next time!
Will come back for:
+ Crackles Cup
The crackles are not great for you, but damn, they are good! Super crunchy, generous serving and very moorish. Spoil yourself a little, and try one, but don’t have too much of it. Yum.
This was my first visit to mr crackles. After hearing of its fantastic pork rolls, I knew I 100% needed to try it!
It wasn’t what I expected when I first walked in, I was happy to see all the pork crackle cups lined up with various seasonings on them but expected more seating.
I decided to order the roll of the month, Mr Quackles.
This was a confit duck roll with hoisin sauce, mayo and slaw. It was delightfully topped off with some prawn crackers.
First impression was it’s size, you sure get what you pay for, the taste was as to be expected with the ingredients. Nicely cooked duck, sweet and creamy sauces with the slaw providing crunch. I felt it lacked an aroma element which was trying to get through in the guise of coriander and spring onion. Perhaps a touch more of these and it would have been perfection. Overall it was a good roll and certainly worth going back to try the other variations.
Crackles classic delivered! The pork belly is really tender, the skin really crispy, tasty and good. Goes really well with the salad. A bit hard to eat tho hahaha. Overall it is good :)
Had lunch there yesterday, it was actually nice. They have different meat on sandwich or with side and just meat. I had the pork classic that had salad inside and pork on top very nice and tasty will try again.
The anticipation was great after the hype of the Melbourne opening and ridiculous waiting lines.
I ordered the crackles classic, the service was friendly and the wait until my order was ready was pretty quick.
The pork was melt in your mouth. You didn’t even need to chew, the pork crackling was crispy and crackled! The baguette was a little to crunchy and the viet slaw a little to pickled. Pretty good all in all.
When you wake up at midnite and feelin hungry. They have very tasty char siu but the point is they put too much veggies inside and the char siu just right on top so you cant have it in one bite or my mouth kind of small lol anw gonna be a four stars from me. Plus pork skin crispy and kind of too hard.
There is a reason why there's usually a long line during lunch hours at Mr Crackles, it's cracking pork. It's meat base has a showed cooked texture that is almost like a pulled pork whilst it's skin has a cracking texture to contrast and set with perfectly balanced filings and sauce upon a baguette/bun. I'd recommend the sweet potato chips yet their regular fries and buffalo wings are average.
3.5/5
I’ve wanted to go here for a while now, as the name got me straight away so when I was asked to go to a really nice restaurant or here. Well hahahaha ... history
My bad, especially as I wasn’t paying for dinner Mmnn lol. But I’m not greedy and this place was a treat, if only to learn about all the hype.
This place is plain, concrete, ok you go to eat and the Bai Marie is well done.
I soo wanted pork crackling and it was ok but as dry as a dogs bone.
My partner ordered a chicken karage roll which was good, w a crunchy roll.
I ordered a Sticky pork bbq roll w onion rings ... as you do lol, and it was really good but the bun was soft and it was messy. Ok ok it was ok but the flavours we’re just ok. Yes it was good and definitely filling, and I enjoyed it but some seasoning or chilli or apple sauce would have helped.
But definitely worth a shot. But maybe skip the pork crackling.

Moved back to Melbourne from Sydney and never made it to this iconic place. Lives up to the hype and some. Cubes of perfectly cooked pork belly with its shimmering crispy skin? Irresistible.
The Classic Pork Crackling is seriously to die for with soft bun! with baguette gets a little messy. Loaded bogan fries is soooo good ive never tasted anything like it. THE BEST ROAST PORK BELLY i have ever tasted, hands down! it’s not too fatty too which is a massive plus! I just wish they have an option for Pork and Rice would be amazing!!
Delicious fast food of high quality! I had the classic pork belly baguette with Vietnamese salad with a side of crackle crisps... crackle overload but crackle heaven!
Located Bourke street , the customer service
Is good ^^ and the food is great and tasty especially with the pork skin is really crispy and nice but little salty . And the bun is nice . Price is reasonable .
Been in love with Mr Crackles since I first tried them in Sydney, so much so that I even bought a Mr Crackles' shirt on my second visit there! While I was tempted to head straight in when they opened, I wasn't too fond of queueing, and best let them settle in first right?
Ordered the Char Siu Bun and Sticky BBQ Pork Bun. The Char Siu Bun was the clear winner. Soft fluffy bun, thinly sliced tender char siu, and what a flavourful sauce. While the Sticky BBQ pork was a deliciously moist and juicy mess, it wasn't as spectacular as the Char Siu Bun.
The roast pork is my go-to order at Mr Crackles and it didn't disappoint. Crispy crackling, succulent meat, with a thin layer of fat in between. However when put into perspective, you'll get better value, and similar or better quality at Cantonese restaurants. You gotta hand it to Mr Crackles for taking a good thing and packaging it right.
After walking past the place many times, finally decided to try it out after immediately eating some fried chicken. We wanted to know if it was worth all the fuss. Got served pretty quickly once we got inside. The seating here is extremely limited so might be standing room only when you are eating. Highlights: MYGOD. The pork. Melt in your mouth good. I don’t know what they do to it, but so good! And also manage to have a crispy outer. Lowlights: the venue itself. Hopefully they realise how popular they are and get a bigger place with seats and heating!
I had the 'bogan' which had fries, gravy, and cheese. I think it's more Canadian Poutine than bogan. Regardless, it was tasty. The pork crackling just crumbled and melted in my mouth.
After this, I've turned into a Mr Crackle-addict. Crackling ain't whack. Mr Crackles is a den worth going to.
#lotsofcrackle. This is the perfect establishment to satisfy your pork crackling cravings and then some! I’d been wanting to try Mr Crackles for ages and get my hands on the crackling cup, but when I saw the rolls been churned out of the kitchen I quickly changed my mind!
Hubby and I tried the Crackles Classic and the Char Sui bun and they were packed with flavour and a decent size. I actually personally preferred the char sui roll as it had a great balance of flavours. Not a lot of seating area so best enjoyed as a grab and go snack!
The staff is very friendly :)))
I really like their pork belly
So goooooooooooooood to try !
But the classic bread is a bit hard for me to chew.
I know that some people like it.
I will go back and try other
I have been there a couple of times now and I must say it's one of my go-to's for a quick meat fix. Both occasions I bought the 100g meat-only option (AUD 8 per 100g)
During my first trip (soon after they opened) I bought 100g of crispy pork belly - as you can see from the photo, the 100g of crispy pork belly didn't look much at all! But it was pure perfection - the pork was tender and juicy, the crackling was so crunchy. This will take you to crispy pork belly heaven.
During my second trip, I ordered 100g of sticky BBQ pork. When I received my order, I realised I had made a mistake as I had meant to order 100g of Char Siu. While the sticky BBQ pork wasn't quite what I wanted, my husband loved it and was very impressed. It's pulled pork with a sweet sticky sauce, very nice, but I personally like it more fatty :) And I must say this time around, the 100g of sticky BBQ pork looked a much bigger portion than the 100g of crispy pork belly from the previous time.
I do enjoy the food and will go back again. However, I wish they don't have surcharge on card payment.
3.5
Was there at 11.40 on weekend so great no queue. The service at the order counter is good. Friendly, helpful, patient lady.
The bogans: love everything about this. Everything just work so well together.
Crispy pork and roast veg : great crispy pork. The skin is so crispy and not overly salty. The fat just melt in my mouth. The meat is succulent. The veg, 3 toasted potatoes and pumpkins with cumin which surprisingly works well with the pork. My only complaint for this is that the ‘porky smell’ is still quite strong which wasn’t that visible in the bogans. I am thinking could be the other elements in the bogan was able to cover the porky smell. Hubby said there is no porky smell on this one so probably it’s just me.
Roast lamb and roasted veg : ok roast lamb. Well seasoned and succulent.
I still prefer the crispy pork.
Calling all pork lovers. This is seriously delicious stuff. Mr Crackles has opened in Melbourne and it’s what pork dreams are made of. They have slabs of juicy pork topped with crispy crackling. They’re serving up pork rolls, pork loaded fries, pork salads, you get the idea. If I had to choose one word to describe this place it would be drool.
Amazing cracking pork in soft bun. It’s different from Vietnamese sandwich 🥪 u normally find in Melbourne. The bun is so soft and prefect match to cracking, flavorful cut pork. Definitely come back and try variety of other buns the store has offer.
Finally, Sydney's very famous Crackles is here and it doesn't disappoint at all. Already planning our 3rd visit. Our personal favorite is the Chicken and Beef Rolls....fresh and yum.
If Zomato has their old rating system, I would rate this place a 3.5. The pros for me was the charsiu roll, the bun was soft (not toasted though) and the charsiu pieces were plenty and juicy; Vietnamese banh mi accompaniments definitely made it taste fresher.
The classics however was a disappointment, although the pork pieces had good crunchy crackling, the mayonnaise was overpowering and the baguette bun was super hard. I’m not sure if you’re able to swap buns but do ask unless you’re a fan of hard buns.
Sweet potato fries were a hit, one of the best I’ve had. The skin was nice and crunchy and the chilli mayo just tasted like your plain sriracha mayo.
I would definitely bring wet wipes as well because your hands will definitely be soaked in goodness and oiliness. Card attracts a 1.1% extra charge and the place is actually quite small, with bar stools only offering probably 10 spaces. The space gets quite dirty (tables, chairs and floors) but luckily our server wiped everything down for us. Wouldn’t mind coming back and trying their other selections.
I flew all the way to Sydney to eat Mr Crackles so you can imagine my excitement when I heard it had opened up in Melbourne
We managed to come just before peak and snagged 2 seats, we both ordered the Bogan which we found really filling however very salty ! The pork itself was fantastic, juicy and the crackling teeth shattering good ! The chips inside were soggy and I could tell it was not because it had gravy poured over it
All in all I would still come back :D
Mr Crackles, as you wound expect are specialists in all things pork and boy do they do it well. Situated in the heart of Bourke street Mr Crackles offers the most amazing pork I have ever tasted and the best thing is they are open till the wee hours of the morning, which is handy if you have been out all night boozing on (there is a rumour that Mr Crackles keeps the hangover at bay).
I decided to take a late lunch and head down and check them out. When I arrived at 3pm the place was full, which is not too hard as the dining are sat around 15 people. The menu, as you would expect was 90% pork. I ordered the bogan pork roll. A soft bun filled with French fries., cheese, gravy and the hero of the dish the most succulent pork belly I have ever in my life tasted. This was pure heaven
There was also salad bowls with pork on the menu, but my recommendation is any of the rolls, there’s nothing like it.
Tried the skicky bbq and the crackling cup which is good! I love the serving size and the bread that they use. The crisp of the pork is perfect but can be too salty for my liking.
I came here on a cold winter night with a very hungry stomach after a night shift. The quality of the food didn’t disappoint me at all.
The pork is melting in my mouth but the skin is super duper crispy. I just love love everything on the menu.
The service was quick.
Just hope they provide more sitting area!
😱Lizzie’s first impression: I first tried it in Sydney and fell in love so it was only a matter of time I gave the Melbourne branch a try. I loved everything about this place!
🍩Lizzie enjoyed: I loved the sticky bbq pork roll as it was tasty and the meat was cooked well. I also tried the bogan and it’s the perfect combination for pork belly, fries and melted cheese lovers - highly recommend this dish!!
🍅Lizzie did not enjoy: you have to make sure to line up before peak hour during lunch times Monday to Friday! I also didn’t really enjoy the crackling as some pieces were a bit too hard to chew.
🥇Lizzie rates overall:this place is amazing
Approaching Mr Crackles I could see the line goes down a number of stores, right to Allens. Some people in front of us gave up after a couple of minutes, but the line does move relatively quickly. They’ve got things down pat, and are able to churn through the orders fairly well. My friends and I all ordered the crackles classic, with sweet potato fries, onion rings and a crackling cup to share.
The onion rings were some of the best I’ve eaten…and who can say no to crackling. The crunchy crackle was not at all greasy and sooo delicious. There’s nowhere really to sit inside, so some people ate on the footpath, but we went back up to the office to eat. The rolls were a very generous size, and filled with juicy, sweet pork. It was too big for me to eat in one sitting, but tasted just as good as an afternoon snack. Worth the wait!
Will be going back to try the char siu pork roll, which looked delicious from where I was standing.
A perfect place to get a quick tasty meat. My favourite crispy pork salad. Satisfied my buds still healthy. Only shortage is the sitting area is a bit small. Also, crackle cup can’t be enjoyed by itself, too dry after you ate few.
Comfort food at it's finest!
A friend and I tried the Sticky BBQ Pork roll, Bogan Fries and Pork Crackling.
The Sticky BBQ Pork was full of intense BBQ flavour and was quite "full on".
The Bogan fries were delightfully filling, with a light gravy, thin french fries, and tender fatty roast pork with a crisp crackling!
The pork crackling itself although crunchy, was quite dry. Better than being soggy and oily, but you can't really eat much of it.
Would return to try their other menu items
Their service is very efficient given how busy this place is during weekday lunchtime.
I ordered the Crackles Classic pork roll and a side of crackling. The pork had crispy skin and meat was tender and juicy, but not too fatty, and balanced by the salad it came with. The portion was just right. I found the roll a bit too hard and crusty for my liking, but they do use soft buns for some of their other dishes. The side of crackling was crunchy and salted but I didn't notice other seasonings.
Be prepared to get your pork roll for takeaway instead of dining in when the place is crowded. There's seating for about 15 people in the joint, all stools and bar height tables.
Mr Crackles has been a Sydney favourite since opening in 2012 and when word hit that they were opening a second outlet down in Melbourne a lot of people got very excited. When the Melbourne store did eventually open in early June, there were huge lines and one one day the place even ran out of pork.
What I've always needed! If you love crackling, you need this in your life. I got a bowl crackling which was great! And a bogan roll which was really yummy. Amazing quality highly recommend.
