Man, feels so good to be outside! On a beautiful sunny day, strolling around the city, enjoying dem empty streets. I felt like Will Smith from I Am Legend (minus zombies). That's when I noticed Quists Coffee.
I've definitely walked past it before. Its tranquil rustic vibe always caught my eye. And if you know me, I am a sucker for rustic ghetto vibe. Nothing flashy nor trendy - just kept it simple and classic. Giving off that "we do COFFEE the right way. None of that insta-worthy brunch pic nonsense" vibe. It had a small line of locals waiting outside so you know it's legit. I grabbed their latte and it was proper. Thick but kept it silky smooth. Delicious - definitely worth. Also, I later on found out Quists Coffee's been around since 1938.. Bruh. Classic never dies.

I happen to come into Melbourne and stumbled across Quist by accident. It was coffee time and today wanted to try it with soy milk due to a little reaction to cows milk recently. The coffee was great and couldn't sit and drink as this place has not seating - totally takeaway. You can actually buy your coffee beans from them as well which is nice if you enjoy what they have on offer. The look of the place is fun and interesting, something from a century ago. There is also a small retail part to this place where you can pick up an eclectic tea / coffee item for that someone special.
Staff are very helpful and seem to know many of their regulars by name. Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Pram/stroller accessible. Reasonable parking. Dietaries catered for. Takeaway food available.
Always nice being greeted first thing in the morning by friendly faces. The place had a nice little buzz to it and feels like an authentic coffee bar right out of Rome. Coffee was pretty good so I will be back
This place does takeaway coffee only, not much standing room either as the shop is littered with coffee instruments for sale. It's kind of a shame as I try to drink in whenever possible.
Coffee came with a small amaretti, nice touch. The coffee was well balanced, smooth and not too weak. Kind of a hidden gem and looks as though it has been here for years.
My personal favourite in Melbourne for takeaway coffee. It's stronger and more flavoursome without being bitter, compared to so many other places which tend towards underwhelmingly milky. Great service and you get an amaretto biscotto too!
A funky little coffee shop down a Melbourne lane that's been around since 1938. It's very quaint in side, serves takeaway coffee and sells everything coffee related including their own roast, cups and teas.
I had the "magic", which was a double shot ristretto with a long pour of milk. I'm used to piccolo's and this was nice, rich and milky!
Friendly staff and quick service! Love the logo on their cup. Yummo!
Quick stop in the city this morning so coffee was a must! Cute little place, lovely service and coffee was great. Even better, with every order your offered a amaretti biscuit (Italian biscuit) to enjoy with your coffee hit which is a plus
Good quality, superb service and even a biscuit to accompany your coffee.
Will definitely be stopping by if I'm around the area.
For those hippies, this place also does coffee in an ice cream cone.
Thought this might pique the interests of those who are after good coffee and a good instagram post. ;)
You'll get the best coffee in the city here! Quists serve a fantastic range of beans, including their own blends, which are smooth, strong, and leave you wanting another cup. The staff are very friendly and knowledgable, and go out of their way to understand what you want so they can find the right blend for you. I've found the best source of coffee and I will never go elsewhere!
The Forkwit loves coffee. Give me an instant coffee and I will pour it on your shoes. QUISTS has been a Forkwit favourite for years. Melbourne's first roasting house doesn't disappoint. Great, unbelievable tasting coffee. This place is a must for all serious coffee drinkers. For all you instant coffee people....please get out.
It was time for the Swine to bump uglies with Quists Coffee and today was the day! This place is an institution for quality coffee in Melbourne and staff really know their stuff. Quists is a tiny shop in Little Collins St just near the Portland Hotel and they certainly make a good coffee. They have a choice of blends (Eclaire wins) and coffees are nice and thick yet smooth. Staff are lovely and have a good sense of humour. The Swine hears that Swine-like Luciano Pavarotti was also a big fan of this place when in Melbourne. After today's coffee the Swine is not suprised. SWINE APPROVED!
One of Melbourne city's little coffee secrets. Friendly service and great single origin coffee. This has been here for years. They are coffee enthusiasts and will answer any question. Excellent value for money.
Really excellent coffee. A gorgeous little shop with friendly service that has really excellent coffee at very competitive prices. At the moment I'm loving the 'eclaire' blend. Forget the generic brands you can get in any supermarket and try Quists. Life's too short for ordinary coffee.
Great, Smooth Takeaway Coffee. This shops serves only Takeaway Coffee but roasts a variety of blends and origins (not on premise though). We had the Eclaire blend and came off enjoying the coffee. It was smooth and comes with an Amoretti biscuit. Great place and definitely recommended.
Could improve on consistency. Otherwise, good coffee. And the amoretti biscuits are a good little treat!
My favourite coffee in the area...! And there is competition for sure but I always come back to Quists.
Good coffee & hot choc.. Friendly, not snobby. Perfect for a take-away coffee & hot choc.
Pretty packed and busy esp during rush hour. Coffee is decent, not fruity but not bland either, they drop you a biscuit with the coffee though, which is nice :)
Great service, great coffee.
Nice touch with a small cookie even with a takeaway coffee.
Such a cosy little place and beautiful atmosphere. Nice coffee beans, great coffee- a lot of love goes into it.
No pics but this is a great little coffee shop in one of the smaller lanes. Very pleasant staff (even though one supports Liverpool FC) and the coffee is great.
The coffee I had today was terrific loved it so much!! You guys gain a loyal regular costumer 💕 nick name Turkish coffee lover 😚
Lovely staff, awesome coffee. Well priced and the almond biscuit is a nice touch!
I had a double espresso.... It was amazing! Small but cozy with a fantastic offer.
They have the best soy latte ever! Very friendly staff as they helped me to choose a moka pot I can use at home. I’ll be going back to buy fresh ground coffee every now and then. Great coffee roaster indeed as it is their 80th anniversary this year!
