We love this place! Great food and lovely atmosphere. We eat here often but it’s also lovely just to sit and have a few drinks. They have a few deals on various nights of the week as well.
A great little pub in The Basin. Fantastic food, especially the small/share plates. A wide range of drinks also available. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The venue also has live music on weekends and quite often run charity fundraising events. Highly recommend!
Went to the Acorn for the first time. They didn’t have any tables but offered for us to sit at one of the wine barrels, which was fine. They had a lovely Pinot and gave us free cheesy garlic bread when our meal was running late (which we were pretty happy about cause it was delicious). The main meal, lamb shank and Guinness pie, were both delicious. A surprisingly nice little pub for our first visit to the Basin. Would go back again
The Acorn is actually in The Basin fyi, lovely little 'burb at the bottom of Mt Dandenong. Had a sat night dinner, which turned out to be an unexpectedly fantastic meal & great service. My partner had main pie of the day which he stated was great, crusty pastry with hint of beer in the gravy, and smooth mash & veg. I had the salmon with hollandaise sauce, with a salty-crusty skin, mash and veg. Looking at the menu you would be forgiven for thinking you were about to get a typical, slapdash pub meal. But kudos to the chef for making it a wonderful, tasty experience & I do hope it's on repeat. The Acorn itself is not overly pretentious & neither does it have an intimidating pub feel (if you want more rough around the edges go the The Oaktree next door- although, not saying that in bad way). There is a nice outdoor decking as well as indoor rooms & live music on certain nights too. Would recommend!
Went to the Acorn with my partner for a nice meal out in a Saturday night and even though we had been to the Acorn before for drinks we'd never eaten there. The service was incredibly prompt for the busy night as they had a full dining room and the food was brought to our table quick as for the amount of diners.
I had the Pie of the Day which was Beef and Cheese with mash and veggies. The gravy and mince had undertones of ale and it's saltiness played well agains the creamy sweetness of the mash. 10/10. Will come again.
I had my 50th birthday celebration at the Acorn on Saturday night. The atmosphere was just what I was seeking, the staff made everything so easy and could not have been more helpful and the food!!! Oh my! the food was fantastic as was the live music. Everyone had a great time and keeps talking about what a great time they had. I highly recommend it for functions as well as lunch/dinner.
Fantastic find - London Pub atmosphere, great food & friendly service. Very busy on Cheap Eats Wednesday- looks like a very popular place with the locals - glad we booked. Will definitely come again.
Hi my name is Ross and I am the new owner. The info here is mostly incorrect. our menu is different the open times are different. We still have a lot of the same things but for up to date info please go to our website at acornonforest.com.auWe have Music from 8pm every Friday and Sundays From 5pm. The pub has undergone a major reno but maintained the English Pub feel.hope to see you soonRoss
St Patricks Day. Great night out with friends. Celebrated with a Guinness or two and an Irish themed menu. The Beef and Guinness pie was fantastic and the Irish Stew enjoyed by friends as well. The chocolate Guinness mousse tasted like chocolate moose the Baileys Cream on top was sensational. Some found it very rich but I loved it and wished there had been more. Elegantly served in a champagne glass too. Only down side is that every meal here is always accompanied by broccoli and beans. Even though they are fresh and not over cooked a change would be nice. Now looking forward to the return of the Sunday Roast which unfortunately is only served in Winter. Served with a great selection of vegetables too.

Guiness. Frequent this pub for the Guinness. An eclectic country style English pub with a musical theme. The band this afternoon was ordinary. The Parma tonight was ok but not as good as usual. Highlight is the hand cut chips. Looking forward to the St Paddy's day celebrations
Always great meals everyone I bring loves it great lunch on Sunday meals are fantastic
The service was absolutely fantastic and the food was good old english cuisine very well done! Will go back
My daughters 18th family dinner. Aileen & Mal,
Just wanted to thank you both for making Tayla’s night on the 12th July absolutely fabulous, our guests were so impressed with the food, your beautiful staff, service, music, atmosphere and the gorgeous venue.
Such a credit to you both, Shane and I have always loved the Acorn and more importantly you both make the place so welcoming and enjoyable, we have loved it for years and was so happy to share one of our favourite spots with our family.
Thankyou both very much.
With love Shane & Leisa xx
Ate here this morning. Good breakfast offerings. Staff friendly and courteous. Had the Canadian pancakes, very filling and tasty. My friends were all very satisfied with their choices as well. Worth a booking.
I enjoyed the Stuffed Chicken Breast and the prawn risotto dish.
