Wonderful place in docklands, you can customise all the options in the menu and make it vegan/vegetarian if needed, tasted the roti naans, red curry, spring rolls, noodles, pad thai and fried rice as we were a large group, every item was well done and the staff were very accommodating and sweet in spite of the place being packed..lovely place overall
I had no.18 fried rice with green curry, It's Amaaaazing, I have recommended to all my friends. I am going to try something new too. My friend recommended no.27 which I will try next time
I ordered no 20 which is a chef’s special and it’s a must try. It’s a slow cooked chicken drumstick with turmeric and jasmine flavoured rice with a nice sweet tangy sauce. I normally go for the green curry with rice but this is one of the best rice dishes they have on the menu!
Love this place!! $16 for a huge plate of chilli chicken, rice and egg. The stir fry has the right amount of heat, herbs and the flavour is intense. Came here for a work lunch and service is quick and reliable. Venue is large too so generally easy to get a table with a small number of people.
An enjoyable, classic Thai meal. An old school Thai restaurant that dished up honest Thai curries and stir-fries. Service was good. Portions were reasonable. Slightly more pricey than what I had wanted. Nice space for families and group bookings.
Amazing food with lovely taste. We ordered Yellow Chicken Curry with one serve of Jasmine rice, Chicken Curry Puffs and Stir Vegetable Noodles. Also took Fried Rice for takeaway. Excellent and quick service. I know this place is extremely busy during lunch time but dinner is just awesome.. not too busy which makes a difference. I don’t know why ppl crib about this place. We will definitely return...

I've been here only once and I really enjoyed the food very much! I had the massaman curry which was really creamy. My other friends ordered their pork belly dishes and they were equally as tasty!
Only downside of this place is the wait is very long.....we waited for nearly an hour before we got served :( not good if you only have an hour lunch break.
Food is good sply roti which you get here. Super soft and yum. I can go back just for that. Ambience s good and so is the service. The variety in the menu is vast to choose from.
We been here once on behalf of our office gathering and they were kind enough to accommodate us without prior booking. Thanks to their spacious seating and arrangements right in the middle of the city.
We tried booking the place but their phone was not operational at that point of time. Parking is a nightmare, the nearest parking available is in a minute of walk, it is paid, may be Wilsons car park. We were asking a lot of questions on what does the food item contains, how is it cooked etc., but the staff were very patient in explaining the individual contents of food, how is it cooked, allergen information. This was very courteous and was very helpful for all vegetarian people with us. We thought this Thai restaurant will be priced high as it is in middle of CBD, but it was as same as others and the portions were sufficient. The best part was the food taste, quality and most of all, Presentation!!
Had my lunch on a Friday in October ‘17. The place is quite close to the office area of Docklands and this is definitely a plus. As long as food is concerned, I had Mossman curry which was excellent with succulent beef meats. Others in my group had other items and everybody praised the food. Though the internal decor is really good with Thai theme, the place seemed to be quite crammed with close tables... hardly enough space to relax. But I think thats ok considering a $16 lunch.
The Seafood Roll is a Must try ... The Red Curry was Good ... The food is authentic . Will come back definitely .. Thank you for the complimentary beer :) ...
Food is delicious but the environment is always too noisy. Been there couple of times during lunch time. Remembering one day I was just standing at the door hesitating sitting in because of the noise. However, the food tastes well which I would give rating @4 but it's been deducted by the environment.
I have been here several times now and it's always consistent. The food is vibrant on the plate the meat is generally of a high quality and not that stringy rubbish you can often receive and the decor is suitably atmospheric with some traditional statues and pretty lighting fixtures setting the scene. I like the chicken satay and the roti bread with peanut sauce as well as the pad see ew (because I'm boring and predictable like that). The pricing is extremely reasonable too
Had the green curry chicken. Very authentic spicy and flavourful. Fri lunch is absolutely packed and your have to book. We waited closer to 45 mins for our food.
Worth it !
The restaurant was very crowded and loud, but it wasn't a huge issue. The service was fast and fairly friendly. The food was good, the coconut rice was one of the best I'd had. The massaman curry was delicious, but there were no nuts and the meat was quite fatty. The green curry was ok, the pad Thai was great and I enjoyed the very crunchy nuts in it, but the roti was a little dry. I would return because it's so close to work but not anything super special
Food was tasty, staff friendly and accomodating, but the vegetable dishes could have had more tofu. Overall a happy experience and would be glad to go here again.
We went to Ginger Leaf on a Sunday evening - mind you, the restaurant was empty and we were super happy. There's usually a queue during office lunch hours. We had thai vegetable green curry and red chicken curry with jasmine rice. It was yum! Thank you ginger leaf.
And just in case you don't know- they have separate menus for lunch and dinner, so you might find it a little shocking.
Service is a little bit slow, but that's all - dishes taste amazing, place is spacious, good customer service and conveniently located across my office. Will come back again in the future. Coupons are available in Entertainment Book.
We really enjoyed tonight's food. The Larb Gai was good but may have been better with more lime rather than lemon on it. The Chicken Panang Curry was sensational and for dessert we shared delicious Mango and Sticky Rice - perfect balance of salty/sweet/sour. Yum.

Lunched here today at noon with a friend (who is a vegan & this venue caters well for vegans & vegetarians), I chose their Garlic Pork at $16.50 whilst my friend their Pad Thai Noodles at $13.90, both meals were served within 12 minutes of ordering with about 10 diners present, however by about 12:15 pm the venue was packed (at a calculated guess it would seat around 70, I seriously suggest pre-booking essential). I thoroughly enjoyed my Pork & my friend described her Pad Thai as having "good variety and quality vegies & in sufficient quantity, food was cooked well although it could have been a bit spicier". The décor was bright & comfortable although the ambiance was more like an overgrown cafe, with the pleasant background music at a reasonable level, but it was completely inaudible once the eatery became busy. Service provision was very good, we were served by a polite, friendly staff member.
The Juror's Verdict: Food 4/5, Service Provision 4/5, Will I return: Yes

Lovely food. Service is a bit slow. Small menu compared to other Thai restaurants so it was disappointing to find our favourites not on the menu. We would be back if we felt like Thai and we were in the area but would not make a special trip here.
Ginger leaf was not the first option for the Thai lunch, but now I believe it can be!
The food is quite good in quality as well and quantity and is reasonably priced!
Fridays can be busy there so I would suggest a booking if more than 2 people.

On the busy Bourke Street, and the proximity to the other Thai restaurants, you are in for a treat as the battle for Asian culinary supremacy is on!. As an avid Asian food lover, I had to go for the benchmark: Spicy Drunken Noodles. If you don’t know, Pok Pok set the pace and every other restaurant now has to compete with that.
Popular Thai spot in the docklands. I ordered the spicy noodles which were flavourful. Their service can be slow due to the lunch rush. Overall food was well presented and tasted great.
We were craving Thai; Ginger Leaf satisfied our cravings in 45 minutes! Nice ambience, good staff and quality food. Located in Docklands, there isn’t a great deal of foot traffic into this restaurant, making it more personal.
We ordered spring rolls to begin with; crispy and cooked to perfection. We then ordered chicken and seafood mains. The portion sizes were great, food was hot and the taste was divine.
Most memorable moment of the night: the Thai Milk Iced Tea. Goodness gracious, I almost fainted at the first sip. Sweet and soothing! I would recommend Ginger Leaf for anyone looking to grab a nice, quick Thai meal in Docklands or in Melbourne CBD!
Great find tucked away on the Docklands side of Bourke Street. Came in for lunch on a weekday and found the place nearly packed!
I had the green curry fried rice which was delicious! It was moderately spiced as well which I loved! Had a Thai milk tea which was done well without being too sweet and had some roti and peanut sauce to start which was a great appetiser. Overall very impressed with the food. Efficient and friendly service to top it all off.

Friday night 7pm.. Little bit quiet... We were hesitant but had the entertainment book voucher. Started to get a few more tables in at 730ish. (only 4 tables of 3-4 people when we got there)
Service was good, girls were friendly. However the food took awhile to come out. For entree we had the roti bread and prawn rolls, main green curry and pad mamuang with beef with a side of steam rice and coconut rice. Flavours were good but I wish the veggies weren't cut soo small!
I've come here 3 times in the past two weeks, so that's saying something.
- Fast and polite table service
- Food comes out quickly
- Food is nice and tasty
- Well priced food and drinks
- Nice atmosphere, not too loud
- A really great option if you work or are staying in the area
- Pictured is the Tom yum soup, vegetarian pad satay and coconut juice
My workmate and I have been here so many times after work. We've tried all their dishes and they've never let us down. My favourite is the curry duck. All the waiters are super friendly especially Ant and Nat. Can't wait to go there next time. Great Thai restaurant.
After finishing work I decided to hang out for dinner with few of my friends. We were searching something reasonable but filling, finally came across this restaurant. First we were hesitating but we made it through. We ordered our food and was waiting a while before it arrived at our table. The presentation was good but the flavours didn't pop to our palates. At the end, we tried the desserts which surprisingly came out very good. Hopefully we will try to return soon.
Could be fabulous.. But the slow service lets it down. We workers can't dilly dally over a long lunch, and the restaurant was so not busy. Having to ask twice for water, really, not impressed. The food was fine, adequate and well flavoured. Recommend if you are not in a rush.
I am a regular here, I love this place the food is fresh and the service is great. I hope more people support this place as its a great restaurant. I have eaten most items on the menu now. Yum yum yum
The best Thai restaurant in the city.
Nice waitress and good atmosphere.
Great. Went here tonight for dinner.
It is some of the best Thai food I've ever had!!
Highly recommended!
The Chicken Satay entree was tasty - the green chicken curry was nice and spicy and the spicy chicken stir fry was the best - delicious!!
The only critiques I have are - 1. $2.90 for a serving of rice per person - most restaurants are much cheaper!! 2. The restaurant seemed to have many flies in it - different types of flies - big blow flies and the small bar flies - I squatted about 6 during the course of the meal!!
The restaurant itself is lovely and roomy with a nice atmosphere. It is a bit more expensive than other Thai restaurants, but the extra money is worth it!!
I will be back
No complaints!. Great food (beef fried rice and chicken green curry), and even better hospitality. Will return again!
Delicious. The prawn crackers served with satay peanut sauce was fabulous and fresh. The red thai curry duck was delicious; a generous serving. The service was friendly and I will definitely go back for more
Restaurant is set-up well, pity about the concrete floors. It would benefit from a more contemporary feel. Service was polite but pedestrian and although no real problems on our table, we did notice the staff were generally not very attentive. All of this is forgiven because the food was delicious. A particular stand out was the homemade sate sauce. Lamb Penang curry was tender, succulent and full of flavour. Would definitely go back.
First comer. Nom nom nom..their food is average, not wow but not bad. just so so..service was good and place just so comfortable.sure will be back.
Great food. After the footy was looking for a decent cheap feed... After reading the reviews we were very weary of going but went anyway... Did not Dissappoint, not the greatest waiters but they mean well, curries were delicious. Recommend trying!
Better than expected. Reluctant to go here (or many other Dockland eateries for that matter after reading all the bad urbanspoon reviews), but we were in a hurry and were desperate to eat before heading elsewhere. Were very surprised - quickly seated, great food, quick and friendly service. Keen to go again, even if just to see if food and service is consistently good.
I have no idea why this restaurant has a lower rating. I have been to Thailand 5 times, and also frequent other Thai restaurants in the docklands. I have always discounted Ginger Leaf due to the poorer reviews, however it exceeded all of my expectations. I came with a group of 5 and the food was great. Only complaint, would have preferred more 'pet pet' (spicy) and more staff attention for more drinks. Will definitely return for a casual family dinner.
Nice. I had dinner here on a Friday night. It wasn't too busy and had a nice atmosphere. I had the red curry (beef) and my friend had a beef pad thai. The service was very quick and the curry was nice, but I think the pad thai flavours could have been a little more punchy. Overall, a nice experience.
I ordered takeaway from here more recently and the food was very very tasty - had the chillie chicken with cashew nuts (yuuummmm) and red curry beef.
Lovely food.... Had a delightful whole barramundi (me) and whole snapper (my wife). Beautifully presented, covered with a rainbow of vegetables and chilli. Dessert was Thai egg-custard with coconut ice cream and fruit, also very nicely presented and certainly something we'd have again.
Peppercorns!. Being a vegetarian, this place would seem like heaven..and it almost was! Great variety of dishes, good to share, lovely staff. Had a tofu dish with rice and a side of coconut juice, was a great meal at the end of the night. Moderately priced too.
Pros:
Good food, not a drinker but my partner had 2 (not the usual) beers so it must've been good, fast service.
"Cons":
Not that I didn't appreciate the service but they did seem to come around to take our orders every 2 minutes. It wasn't a busy night either? Either way, good level of service.
Spontaneous Dinner. My sister and I were looking for somewhere to have a bite before going out...we chose the first resteraunt we came across that was open, and are so grateful that it was Ginger Leaf. The sevice was excellent, we were seated within seconds, and the staff were lovely. Best satay either of us have had in ages! And the Red Duck Curry was to die for! We would definately recommend Ginger Leaf! :)
Nice food and service. I had a lovely meal at this restaurant with a large group. Everyone seemed happy with their meals, and I can personally vouch for the pad thai and panang curry. We had great service too, so I felt compelled to write a review to correct all of the negative feedback.
I've here several times before and tonight I had a very nice Panang Chicken curry with fragrant coconut rice which might have to be my new favourite :-) I started with the fish cakes which were also very nice. I'll be back.
Good food, slow service. Food is generally quite good, Massaman beef has a nice balance of sweetness, Tom Yum soup is nice and refreshing, but their Pad Thai needs work, currently theirs tastes to mushy.
Service on the other hand leaves more to be desired, attentive but slow, expect to wait ages for your drinks.
Our friends invited us to have a dinner at this restaurant. Initially we were a bit worried because the venue was not crowded on a Friday night. But the food was quite decent and the atmosphere inside - very relaxing and cozy. The carries are really good and go well with roti or rice. If you have space for a dessert - we recommend a crispy banana with coconut ice-cream (not too sweet but tastes delicious)
Place is always busy , advance booking is recommended. Place can accommodate groups as well, good to pre-order, otherwise there will be 15-30minutes delay. Food is really yummmm. They have good options for vegetarians as well. Rather than usual fried rice /noodles , you could try few other things like Anna and the king, spicy noodles etc.
I came here with group of 20 people, we had pre-ordered, service was really quicker and food taste was also maintained 👍
Had lunch there once with colleagues and the food is pretty amazing. Can't say it's entirely authentic but close enough to the real thing when you're looking to satisfy that Thai craving.
Thai green curry with jasmine rice was really tasty on a cold day. The service was quick and the host was very friendly and helpful. Nice cosy place with Thai decor.. we went there for dinner where we had to share the curry and order the rice separately..however lunch time they serve individual plate with one portion meal per person like curry and rice thats a better option.
We also tried Thier chicken Satay which was good.
Good thai food..we took pad thai(noodles chicken bamboo shoots peanuts) n plain rice with red curry(coconut milk chicken carrots capsicum cucumber)..both were good..took ard 15 min to serve..
