Nestled amongst the bustle of the Queen Vic Markets sits this authentic gelato bar. Sam and Ranj are the delightful couple behind this business, who are happy to offer any help or information you'd like with choosing from their menu! Sam has taken on his Italian grandfather's passion for gelato and brought it to the vibrant Melbourne food scene!
After taking full advantage of Geloso's tastings to help me decide, I opted for the lemon flavour and the mango. I was really feeling like a refreshing fruity flavour!
The gelato was soft in texture and the flavours complemented each other perfectly! The lemon flavour had the ideal balance of sweet and bitter, and the mango was bursting with authentic fruity flavours.
The gelato bar has an undercover spacious seating area suitable for groups to watch the busy market day. And the ingredients used in the gelato come locally sourced from the producers at the market itself! What a great way to support local.
I stumbled upon this place in the outdoor market area while looking around. It was quite a hot day so it was quite nice to have something cool while walking around. They had a lot of flavours to choose from and I ended up with mango and coconut. The gelato was quite refreshing under the heat. The flavours were a bit mild but did taste like the flavours they were supposed to be.
They also do shakes and waffles.
Absolutely loved my visit to Geloso! The gelato was so creamy and was the perfect treat for the gorgeous Spring day. We ordered the mango, coconut, nutella & strawberry. The flavours were authentic and delicious, with the mango being like nothing I have ever tried before! Absolutely AMAZING!
The customer service was exceptional and the lovely family run business warmth is definitely apparent! Cannot wait to come past again!
There is nothing better than fresh and delicious gelato on a hot day, especially when the flavours are as stunning as they are at Geloso Gelateria, located in the middle of the bustling Queen Victoria Market!
We tasted nearly all the delicious flavours! It was a difficult choice but I ended up choosing the mango, the strawberry and the lemon. The mango and strawberry were so heavenly, they tasted exactly like the real fruit, which is rather rare in fruity ice creams and gelatos. The lemon was next-level, I'm one of those people who always orders the lemon and I've gotta say this one really stood out. It tasted so zesty and authentic!
One of the owners, Jaz served us and she made it such an amazing experience because she was truly passionate about her business and serving up top quality gelato.
I'll be heading back in summer for sure!
We had absolutely the best time at Geloso Gelateria located in Queen Victoria Market.
The place is beautiful and the gelato is so fresh that sometimes you can see it being produced from the clear window.
We had 4 flavours: mango, cheesecake, hazelnut and cookies. My favourite was the cheesecake, but the mango was just as perfect. We also tried the lemon, it was amazing and it really had a strong lemon flavour specially for a sorbet.
The owners are so lovely and you can have a chat to them about the production process. You can also try a couple of flavours before you pick yours, I will let you know that this is the hardest part since all of them taste so good.

Gelato doesn’t get much better than this! Absolutely loved all the flavours we tried (chocolate was definitely a fave). Geloso offers a selection of classic flavours like mint choc chip as well as unique and innovative ones including pancake, all of which are created with recipes dating back three generations! Also love that there are vegan-friendly flavours!
As a family-owned business, you’ll be greeted with the most lovely smiles and service. Geloso is for sure a go-to from now on when craving some creamy, delicious gelato!
I was fortunate enough to visit this gelato store at Queen Victoria Markets. This shop wasn’t in the main food court but in next to a shed where they sell clothes etc.
But it’s worth hunting out as this is some of the best gelato that I’ve ever eaten to be honest. The gelato wasn’t sugary sweet, it wasn’t watery, it was creamy and the store owners use seasonal fruit straight from the fruit stalls opposite. What a wonderful idea.
I tried several flavours but I settled on my version of a Neapolitan ice cream. This consisted of creamy chocolate, OMGosh this is simply amazing!! Then fresh strawberry and my second favourite, lemon gelato! Woo hoo
The lemon was perfect. It had a great citrus flavour without all the sugar! Yummo. And it was vegan too. Happy days hahaha
This place is a must visit and thanks to Simmyeats.Melb for asking me. I can’t wait to go back ASAP!

F marks the spot, well shed F anyway! This isn't the gelati shop with rows and rows of flavours, but that is ok because the flavours they do have, have been mastered and nailed.
I was greeted by the lovely and passionate Jaz, Jaz and her husband are the owners of Geloso and you can definitely feel the love when you are in the shop. I got to sample pretty much all the flavours as I didn't know what to choose hehe They were all very delish!!
I had the affogato as I felt like a coffee flavour, not many gelati places offer this - how fab! I also had a small cup of the chocolate flavour which was divine. I had Tim.E join me too, he had strawberry, chocolate and lemon and they were all outstanding.
A new flavour is on it's way too, I was lucky enough to try it!! Hint - hint, it is a Vic Market classic which has been incorporated in the flavour. Thank you Geloso for the invite, you have such a charming little shop 😊
We visited the main store after we saw the long lines at the card. Geloso Gelateria did not disappoint, as the gelato was fresh and not too sweet. The service was friendly and efficient. Highly recommend.
Nothing better than to experience a fresh light watermelon flavoured gelato in Victoria Market. This place is truely a hidden gem, with no rating on Zomato and only 3 reviews I recommend everyone to give this place a try.
Water melon gelato $5
Review:
The watermelon was definitely the star, it was sweet yet slightly tart. With no artificial flavours going on it is a perfect gelato to have in summer. The texture of the gelato was light, airy and smooth. It was not as sweet as expected! My mum who doesn’t really enjoy gelatos really liked this one. This gelato place focuses on fruity flavours so make sure you order just that!!
Has seasonal flavours that are really unique. I had the green apple sorbet which was sweet and tart. Other flavours include mandarin sorbet, hazelnut gelato and heaps more. Would definitely recommend a try if you’re at the Queen Victoria Markets!
The best gelato is made from all natural ingredients – real fruit, real nuts. And what better place to find a ready source of gelato inspiration than Melbourne’s Queen Victoria Market. Geloso Gelateria is right in the middle of the market and takes full advantage of all the market has to offer.
Each morning, Jaz checks out the fruit and veg stalls for what looks good. Case of super-ripe mangos? Done. Strawberries at their peak? Easy choice. And so the day’s gelato flavours are chosen.
The gelati is made on-site fresh each day. Whole hazelnuts are roasted and ground. Fruit chopped. Gelato churned. Tubs filled. And the results? Outstanding.
Special mentions for the gianduia (chocolate hazelnut), cheesecake, passionfruit sorbetto, lemon sorbetto and strawberry – the latter is one of the best strawberry gelati we have sampled.
Sam and wife are so friendly, the blood orange granita was so refreshing. Great products and teamwork and my nick name is ‘Gelo’!
Such a cute little pop-up cart with lights flashing, music playing and a jolly ice-cream man at the Queen Vic Market. Tried the mandarin gelato in a small cup. It is quite a good size considering it is small. Was so fresh, lightly and full of flavour. If you like not too sweet with a tinge of orangy, citrusy flavour try the mandarin one before buying.

THE BEST GELATO IN MELBOURNE
Rotating flavours each week, try before you buy and made in house with local ingredients as well as slushie options available as well. Bloody solid Gelato for sure! 👌🏼

Very nice gelati, nice and cold and great on a hot day. I wish they had more flavours to pick from though.
Love the cookies &cream icecream! Their staff is very nice!
Lined up to get the lemon and blood orange granita with the kids. They were so delicious on a nice sunny day. A little bit tangy and sweet and perfect accompaniment to a morning at the market.
