Banana leaf rice for 2 - $50
Finally found a place that serves Banana Leaf Rice here in Melbourne!!! This set comes with Basmati rice, Choice of 2 protein (I had chicken 65 & prawn sambal for extra $3), 2 curries, 3 vegetables, Papadam (spiced crackers), Fried bitter gourd, Raasam (sour soup), Pickles, Raita (yoghurt)
and Rava Kesari (dessert made of semolina)
My favourites were prawn sambal (recommend this if you like spicy food), fried bitter gourd and fish curry! Also very happy with the generous portion of curry so I can DRENCH my rice in a mix of curries🤤 The portion is definitely good for 2-3 people.
overall pretty satisfied as the dishes were packed with good amount of flavour and spiciness.
Delicious authentic Malaysia food!
Great service!
We had nasi lemak beef rendang, roti fish curry, teh tarik, lamb satay and sago pudding, all are wonderful. Make our day! We finished the food too quickly to take pictures, only managed to take pic of the sago pudding!
Would love to try cendol and muktabak next time!
Incredible lamb biryani, and the staff are always lovely! A bit on the pricier side but worth every cent.
I love your food, please don't change ever. I can eat that chicken curry with roti anytime!
A large group of us came in on a Friday evening and they seated us all which is ace.
The food was nice but didn’t blow me alway.
The roti was my favourite along with the satay sauce!
A decent meal
Oooo......I like the food here. Tasty and authentic. I had the Nasi Lemak and it was fantastic. Can't wait to come back again. A little tip, if you come before 12pm for a take away, the food is at $9.90 and the serving will fill up your belly. Good value!
I've had a lot of nasi lemak in Melbourne, and I'm really impressed by Roti Bar's version!
The coconut rice was creamy, the chicken curry was rich and deep flavour, there was both deep fried anchovy and sambal anchovy. I would have preferred a fried egg over hard boiled but still totally fine.
The restaurant itself was surprisingly large and there was ample seating.
Looking forward to coming back to try other Malaysian favourites like roti!
Customer service not bad , Malaysia cuisine, curry taste great , price reasonable , surely will back visit soon
Little Bit Of Everything
+4
I have been to Roti bar during lunch time for a quick bite, they get pretty packed. I have tried their Chicken Roti Roll and Nasi Lemak. They both taste delicious. The roti wrap is pretty filling, they are quite generous with their portions and reasonably priced.
If u love a freshly made good roti and curry then u have come to the right place! I loved the Roti Banjir. It is a roti chanai flooded with curry....to top it off, a sunny side up egg! I am quite a regular at Roti Bar and this will make a very good addition to their menu. The only thing is, u have to add on a fried chicken or a meat dish to complement the roti. All their roti is good as they have a roti chef that works behind a see-through kitchen. Also love their Maggi Mee Goreng, Char Keow Teow and Murtabak.
Great affordable Malaysian food for a quick bite! Plenty of variety of Rotis to try, including Murtabak! Check it out on EatClub for even better value! 💵
Came here with 2 of my friends and we ordered the dinner roti specials, char kway teow, and nasi lemak. Food and service were good. My malaysian friend said the food was authentic so no issues there!
Yummy Malaysian food which we discovered through a voucher deal. Lucky for us. The roti was obviously delicious, as was the Malaysian Chicken Curry and the Beef Rendang that we chose. It's easy enough to find the restaurant and certainly, the qualitty and flavours are worth it.
First time been here for lunch after saw the Facebook had some one was advertised. I ordered chao kay tiew ( fried rice noodle) the burn wok (wok hei) flavour is enough, but taste not like Malaysia kitchen or hawker style. And I addition plain roti with Sambal and dhal, roti is good, sambal taste good but the chef was not cook spicy due to worry local customer taste hot. Service and overall was good.
This place has only been around for the last 6 months or so. Finally tried their menu and I must say this place didn’t disappoint!
The briyani was excellent. There’s so many variations when it comes to briyani but what I loved about this place was the rice- just filled with flavour. The chicken pieces were generous and the curry that came along with it... I had to ask for second servings!
The char kuay teow was simple and delicious- would have been better if there were more ingredients in that though. Still enjoyable.
Got the roti roller which was pretty filling however the cheese wasn’t melted enough. Loved the mix of flavours in it so it was well worth the $12!
Lastly the chendol.. dare I say it’s the best chendol I’ve eaten in all of Melbourne. The photo doesn’t do justice as I dug in and soon as it was served. There was hardly anything in the bowl as I took the photo.I promise it looked beautiful when it came out! Yum!
Looking forward to my next visit definitely!
Amazing food and the service is actually pretty good despite some of the reviews on here. Foods full of flavour and there is something for everyone. Drinks are also great . If you come during peak times , expect it to be busy and wait . Food takes time to cook, be patient people.
Went for lunch had garlic and cheese roti and chick stick... delicious! Food was good, service was good .. what more can you ask for?! Others in my group also agree .. definitely a place we will be coming back to.
It's unlikely that you will find a place as dedicated to the joyous bread style of roti better than this in the CBD. Lots of cultures have breads and flat breads, but do any of them get softer and more supple than roti? Yeah Nah. Roti when it's warm is good for wrapping things up in, and dipping.
The roti rolls here are a good way to sample them, but there are countless ways to do it. The Dear Luncher smashed down these parcels packed with beef and cheese in one mouthful. Very enjoyable, Malaysian style offering.
Recommended by a friend to try Roti Bar. I first hesitated as i already have few Malaysia restaurant that I'm comfortable with ( Mamak and etc ). But then i gave a shot.
To be honest, I was amazed with the food & services.
Sorry to say , they beat Mamak's roti anytime. It's so fluffy and crispy. I could just eat it by itself.
We tried their Char Kuey Teow, Mee Goreng & Nasi Lemak (recommended by their staff, claiming it to be their top selling) .
I would rate
CKT 9/10 - Was perfect , less 1 point for not having kerang ( maybe i expecting too much, but if only it had some kerang, it would taste like those street CKT that we have back home in malaysia)
Mee Goreng - 10/10 - Sweet, spicy & nicely burned.
Nasi Lemak - 9/10 The coconut rice is the bomb . Others just normal.
Roti Bar is going to be my regular hang out place after this. Sadly they are not open on the weekends.
Authentic Malaysian cuisine! I’m Malaysian and the roti and chicken curry tastes just like back home :)
Definitely coming back again as the service was prompt and price was good!
If you are looking for a local malaysian cuisine, be sure to visit Roti Bar! Highly recommended.
Delicious food , it really tastes like what i had back when i was visiting Malaysia.
I’ve visited RotiBar several times but did not manage to snap all the food that i ate

Especially loved the Nasi Lemak combo, Biryani , egg+Roti and also the Char Koay Teow!

Food Presentation 8/10
Interior 7/10
A comfy place to eat authentic Malaysian food. We order Singaporean noodle and char kueytiaw and chicken platter, my favorite one is chicken satay platter as the chicken is so crispy and juicy, so mouth watering! Definitely come back 😊
