Love this place, come here all the time for a coffee - both turkish or latte - and there is always a friendly service. During lunch time hours it's pretty busy which is great for them. Best time to go is early like 11 am or 2 pm (and after) to enjoy a quiet time with your food. Support local businesses!
It is one of my favourite places for Turkish food. The staff are friendly. Food tastes brilliant. One suggestion is to have a wider main course items. The desserts are amazing and we'll prepared.
Ordered:
- Lamb HSP with 3 sauces
I was recommended this place and first impression definitely left a mark. The lamb didn’t taste as ‘artificial’ which stood out to me. Chips was freshly cooked so the combo was deeeeliccciousssss!!
First time
I hadn't eaten since breakfast and the deluxe lamb platter stopped me in my tracks at 7 pm
Good sized place and easy to get around
Good service
Turkish eats on Lygon.
Ambience: The place is pretty spacious, well lit and clean. It does smell a bit like kebab but wasn't strong. Pretty cute decorations on the walls.
Service: The staffs were pretty friendly, we ordered mixed kebab but they were closing so were told they only had lamb left and we were told that only take-away was available, and apologized. Food came out pretty quick.
Food: The lamb kebab was great, the meat was so so generous, depending on your preference it can be great or not so good, taste was good though, doesn't really smell and was just the right saltiness, and tender. The vegs were fresh and crunchy, compensate the meat well, though we do think the ratio was a bit off, as the meat was so much. The wrap was a kind of flat bread which was bit bouncy and fragrant. Nonetheless great kebab, and would be really good if not for the meat and veg ratio.
Price: reasonable price for the portion and taste.
YUM: lamb kebab

Got a mixed kebab on uber eats- came fast and hot and the meat was delicious. Love the bread and perfect amount of sauce and salad. Will definitely order again.
Price matches quality! Total worth it experience. Ordered a mixed kabab, falafel platter ( I added two dolmas (1$ each)) and a coffee. All were delicious. The only negative is that the restaurant “spicy” is limited to mild chilli sauce... so I recommend if you like spicy as much as I do bring your own spice to kick up the food to level 5/5 quality.
Stopped at this establishment by accident. I was wishing to reacquaint my self with Istanbul. We were not disappointed. The spinach and feta borek was good and not to greasy. I was offered chilli and garlic sauce along with yogurt sauces. My friend ordered the vegetarian borek. We had excellent coffee to follow. Was a good experience. The environment was basic but clean and welcoming. Good for a quick tasty meal. Will return
One of our regular places to visit when we're in the area as they have tasty food for a really good price. Love the chicken, dips and both the bean and eggplant salads. We have always had really good friendly service.
Still learning about what makes the best kind of HDP, but thoroughly enjoyed this! Lashings of sauce and plenty of crunchy chips. Good times!
This place is EXACTLY what we were looking for today. Quick, relatively cheap, tasty eats that we could share with the little one before our museum adventure. My husband and I shared a HSP (no chili sauce because he's a wuss), and we also got a dips platter and a potato and spinach borek. The hsp was spot on, we got loads of breads and a variety of tasty dips, and the borek, oh my. I thought it was a little on the pricy side but my goodness was it good. And huge, well worth the price. Service was friendly and fast.
We will definitely return if we're in the area.
What an amazing place! A piece of istanbul in melbourne. They have a wide choice of food. Typical turkish and middle eastern food like Boreks, Baklava et al. We tried the Halal Snack Pack on the recommendation of some friend. Oh boy! Its the best thing I have had in a while. A mountain load of fries with melted cheese and lots of roasted chicken on top with 3-4 kinds of sauces served in a box filled to the top for a steal of just $14. This one is a must must try. It was served piping hot. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Its enough to be shared among two people or just one if you have a huge capacity. Will definitely be going back for this. Service is good servers are always smiling. Also the salads, boreks and other sweets on display look good. Will try them next time! 👍
Amazing food!! Very good prices, good staff . I eat from here every now and then and ive never been disappointed.
The tv showing Istanbul city makes me wana visit it!!
Can't go wrong with the HSP (chicken, garlic sauce, chilli sauce, cheese, chips)! They're not offering the stuffed capsicum anymore so we got dips instead which came with tzatziki, carrot, garlic and hommous dip. The bread is toasted too (yum). Handy for late meals as they're open until 11pm.
Absolute best Kebabs.
Place looks a little dated but nice and clean.
Worked in Carlton for many years and loved this place for its Lamb Kebabs.
They put this special spice on top and the bread is amazing.
My mouth is watering now just thinking about it.
Lambs is directly across the road, don't bother.
Would I go back?
Yes Yes Yes, again and again.
I like this place, every time I come here, I notice Bollywood instrumental music being played in their cafe. :)
By the way Backlava is a must must try for all the foodies, I'm a fan of their Backlava. It's so so so good.
I had my lunch yesterday at iloveistanbull, and comeback today for the same lamb kabab again! You see, this is the power for good food! It's like a family style restaurant for me, nothing fancy, nothing complecated, but it feels like I'm eating food at Istanbul! Recommend their soup and stuffed capsicum.
Love the food here. I have been regularly visiting this place and I love it. The Kebabs you are very good. The Turkish bread is authentic. It may not have a lot of dining area but it definitely has very tasty food
I ordered this from ubereats. Good lamb kebab for $11 delivered straight to your door. Generous portion. I wish they put more garlic sauce..
Great atmosphere and friendly service. The borek is spot on and full of flavour. I had the chicken special pack with rice, was tender chicken and spices nicely. Highly recommend!
Having just come from La Spaghetteria Ristorante and it being a total let down, we needed something that would satisfy the taste buds and was relatively cheap. We hadn't tried the new fad being the Halal Snack Pack and seeming Iloveinstanbul was conveniently on the way back to the car, we stopped by. Costing $12.0 and expecting not too much, we were pleasantly surprised and very well satisfied with cost, size and taste. No idea why we hadn't tried it before but it's definitely something I'll be trying over and over again - just gotta make sure it's from here! To top off the deliciousness, we hit up some baklava x2 for $3.0 each which hit the spot just nicely. Till next time, this is Our Foodie Find!
Came here with a group of friends. A small and normal turkish restaurant. We sat outside. I had a lamb kebabs. Reasonable portion and priced alright. Taste alright too. Not crowded. And service was okay.
I ordered the Lamb Kebab which costed $11. The bread was soft. The lamb was so generous but a bit too salty. Overall, it still tasted good though. The staffs were friendly and helpful. Quite a nice ambience as they played songs so you will really feel as if you're in Istanbul.
Had the turkish cappuccino. Delicious! :) . .
Place was decent ordered Chicken platter which was good worth a try, veg platter was okay to taste and lastly the Turkish Cappuccino which was different and definitely worth trying ! Service can be improved.
I can't explain the greatness of the mix platter. It was deliciously satisfying and was a real delight with the dips and salads. The kebab was also above par. The price is definitely a real treat since its located on lygon st. Great vibe may i add. Been coming here for a while, consistency is strong.
Falafel kebabs are delicious, and the vegetarian platter is good too. They have a big range of salads, meal options, and drinks and desserts to eat in or takeaway.
Best tabouli AND best hummus for miles. Excellent service and got my food quickly. I'm so happy they are open late. Clean and bright colors. Really couldn't be happier.
Delicious Turkish food, friendly staff. I needed to get some take away and didn't want anything too heavy (it was a hot day), this was perfect. For two to share, a slice of spinach borek, little potato and fetta pattie thingy, and a large salad (choice of three, i took eggplant, tabbouleh, bulgar) drizzled w delicious hommous. Will definitely come back and completely recommend IloveIstanbul!
Another borek that's better than Vic Market's. I know this is the Kebab Factory, but I don't support factory farming ;-) so i ordered a borek instead. A whole lamb borek with salad was $10, and I need to eat more salad, so that's what I went with. Plus the lamb borek looked attractive, round like a Turkish snail shell. The Factory's other boreks come in slices like spanakopita or rolls -- a variety of shapes.
The minced lamb sausage inside the pastry had enough spiciness to remind me that I was eating Turkish food, not Greek. The pastry was not as light in texture as the best boreks I've had (champion so far is a Slovenian place called Sweets Galore in West Dandenong) but it wasn't as greasy as the ones from Vic Market. Those are still my faves because they're so cheap, but if you're in Melbourne and want a slightly fancier take on this dish (for $9), the Factory's boreks are a good bet.

Amazing Kebab!. This has to be the best kebab I've had in a LONG time. The meat was fresh, tender and generous. The salads were just as fresh. The size of the kebab was excellent. Not monsterous but larger than expected. The kebab took a little longer than expected to come out, but that was forgiven considering the TLC and pride that went in to creating the food. Will be back!
Love it. The latte was every nice and the kebabs lamb and chicken was the best and the service was really good even the manager was every good and friendly too cheat
I live around the corner and eat here regularly. I love the chilli chicken kebab and their platters. Highly recommended! They are much much better than lambs over the road which is full of gristly fatty meat.
Very nice. One of the better kebabs I have had in a while. Very generous with the meat, and bloody tasty. 10 times nicer than souvlaki joint across the road
Was a bit hesitant bout going here initial, so glad I did! The mixed kebab was jam packed the bread, was not your usual Lebo bread, it was that sensational Turkish hybrid dusted in polenta. Give it a crack, bloody awesome!
I had a chicken souvlaki with hot chilli and garlic sauce, it was really yummy. The chicken was juicy and tender and the garlic sauce nice and garlicky just the way I like it. The serving was huge and I could barely finish it. If you are looking for a chicken souvlaki done right, I can highly recommend this place. The staff were friendly too which always helps.
Wasnt that oily, most kebabs are oily. Wasnt a large kebab but was very tasty, and not too much sauce! Yes!
