Absolutely love Nitro Lab! We had the Sticky Date Pudding & Ferrero Rocher flavours and couldn't decide which was better. Will definitely be back to try their milk teas as well. Also love that they're open late. Nitro Lab is perfect for a late night sweet treat in the cbd!

One of the better places in CBD for ice cream. My favourite flavour is their gaytime and timtam. They use nitrogen to make the ice cream - so the texture is very smooth. I tried their lychee sorbet once and it was a tad bit sweet. Still tasty tho.

Got the peanut butter and jelly ice cream which came with a piece of peanut brittle and a plastic syringe of raspberry jelly. It was cute and tasted like frozen PB & J.
Decent Place. Whacky flavours. However, we went about 45 minutes before closing and they did not have many flavours as they were closing for the day. Overall great concept.

A really nice finisher to any meal.
The ice creams are unique and delicious. The flavours are very nice and the toppings are what makes the ice cream!
Visited on a cold winter day, cafe was quiet. Got a slice of cheesecake and takeaway cappuccino. Very pleased with them! Will return to try the fresh drinks and ice creams.
Always love a good nitro icecream! Been a lil while since i got it and it seems like theres alot of new flavours i must try! But this time im reviewing their tea! I got the fruiti tea as yes... im a sucker for that giant poster of fruiti tea... it was delicious! Filled w water melon, orange, passionfruit etc. They're def packed it. The tea was light and fruity also. Was it worth the $7 though? Prob not as i pretty much paid for a fruit salad with some light tea haha.. but would i go for it again... prob will especially on a hot day haha!
If you’re after a quick post dinner bite, Nitro lab has some of the best options! For my first visit I tried the Gaytime - caramel to die for and definitely hit the spot. Their ice cream has a gooey, strong texture but without missing any of that creamy goodness. Get amongst it.
Love this joint. Quick, easy and they create it in front of you. Good for when you’re walking along Bourke st. Not too bad for pricing if you’ve got a sweet tooth.

French vanilla creme brulee + pears + butterscotch syringe = 😊😊😊 The combination of cinnamon pears and the vanilla Gelato was just so addictive. It was definitely finished too soon.
Been here three times now and must say that their ice cream is pretty good. The smoothness is not comparable to N2 and might be pricey but the taste is on point. Very friendly customer service too!!! Keep it up guys
Normally a big fan of nitrogen ice-cream and have visited Nitro-lab on multiple occasions. My latest visit was a bit of a disappointment... my order was stopped directly from a tub and was not freshly made.
Brilliant. Everything from the name, to the product range, the flavour, the passionate and knowledgeable staff. Even watching the process if you're that keen!
It's dessert with a difference. The ice cream is stored at something like -190 degrees Celsius, and we were initially captivated as we walked past after seeing one of the guys making a batch (its hard to miss!).
We grabbed the Soy Matcha and Ferrero Rocher. They were both the most authentic tasting ice cream. The light and airy coconut whip complimented the Soy Matcha so well, and it's no wonder the Ferrero is the most popular they have as it's topped with real Nutella, and wafers.
It isn't cheap per se, but it's by no means unreasonably unaffordable. You pay for what you get, and this experience is well worth a visit. And another, then another, and so on.
Been here a few times already and love their ice-cream. It might be pricey and small serving but the quality and taste is good. My favourite flavour is the gay time crunch ice-cream and ferrero rocher hazelnut and nutella ice-cream. Service is good too. 😁😋

Whipped coconut cream on top of the Soy matcha was very airy and they went really well together. For some reason i did not get the little puffy nibs on it though??
wasn’t a fan of Passionfruit cheesecake but i will most likely return to try other flavours. Juices are pretty and they will blend it for you on request.
This place is pretty cool and I like the concept. Flavours are quite nice as well. Only disappointment is the lack of theatrics and use of nitrogen... my order was just scooped out of their tubs.

For some reason the name of this place always makes me think of Pinky and the Brain (unquestionably Steven Spielberg's best work). I've wandered past Nitro Lab plenty of times so I figured I would give them a try this time. I had very berry berry drink which tasted pretty nice and a vanilla and apple creme brulee. The Brulee was awesome on top with a nice custardy, apple and vanilla taste beneath. I think in terms of custard though Royal Stacks will always be my first port of call in the city. All in all though the Lab was a great stop and I'd be happy to try some of their other stuff as well. A good range of interesting things to try. :)

The novelty still hasn't worn off on me with this place. Love the liquid nitrogen mist filling up the place. Ferraro Rocher and Strawberry & Vanilla Tart, both very good options.
The staff here address quite friendly and efficient, which was nice to see. Our order came out so quickly and it was certainly tasty, however not the best we've ever had
Sadly a staff member was eating food while wearing gloves, then proceeding to keep making orders. Maybe a quick refresher in the health regulation rules...
Amazing! Ok, yes it's a bit of a show, but beyond that it is freaking delicious. Highly recommended, even in the midst of winter. I only took off .5 of a star because it is very pricey for what is basically icecream.
We came here on a Tuesday in the afternoon for a quick nitrogen ice cream with friends. I got the black sesame flavour which had tiramisu lady finger crumbs inside! It had a nice black sesame flavour and the consistency was creamy. However, at $8.5 for a standard ice cream size, I'm not sure if it's worth it.
Also, the shop is cute but it is a bit small. There are no tables inside to eat at and only a couple of benches. There are a few small tables outdoor, however I would like to see more seating areas here!
Just a few steps further from our dinner on Bourke Street to the corner near Russell Street, we adjourned to find some dessert here.
Frontage looked very refreshing and appealing. Their menu looked good, wanted to try everything but settled for their small cup of Raspberry Nutella Tart with a cuppa hot chocolate combo @ $10.50 which was pricey but both well presented and tasted good for our first time trying ice cream made with liquid nitrogen. Noted the menu shown on Zomato looked outdated.
Service was okay, straightforward transaction on what was ordered. Wished they were more proactive to help us on our order, probably would have ordered more.
Not busy at that time, we sat behind the counter of the shop and found the seating area a little cold with minimalist interior, tables not cleaned. Designed for a quick sit down, at least we enjoyed our dessert. Great for anyone with a sweet tooth craving.

Every time I go to Melbourne, I walk past Nitro Lab, which seems to be very popular every time I look. Wanting to try it every time but inevitably eating too much so that I cant fit anything in, I had to make a point to go there after to grab an afternoon drink between errands. . Being quite sweaty from all the running around I did, I was more in the mood for a water based snack rather than a milk based snack. Noting their new Lemon Lime Bitters slushee, I found it to be the perfect option for me.
An interesting take on ice cream, good flavours and combinations, good service even when they were busy, a little on the expensive side but a nice treat.

It was my first time having it and it won't be my last. I was surprised to find that the texture of the ice cream was different compared to other ice cream (gooey-ish) but it was the "good kind" of surprise. The ferrero rocher flavour was good, although I find it to be a little on the sweet side. The berry flavour with biscuit crumbs was a delight. It is a bit pricey but i guess good foods don't come cheap. 🤓
Just look at this ice cream! Made with liquid nitrogen, the ice cream itself is creamy, and full of body. The additions to the dish are amazing -wafers, biscuits, chocolate topping, nutella! Yum! Such a great combination of flavours included.
I have been to this place twice and it is a great spot to go after dinner or just for a late night dessert! I have had the matcha and the nutella tiramusu flavours which I both enjoyed!
$8.50 for a small amount of ice cream with some rice pops is a little excessive. I added a chocolate syringe as well which means I paid $9.50 for a small serving of ice cream so it's definitely over priced when you look at the small portions. But if terms of taste, it definitely does not disappoint! I ordered the 'Green tea moment' with a chocolate syringe and the ice cream was so rich and heavy! Flavour of matcha was strong but still sweet! Definitely worth giving this place a try but not worth paying for their ice cream on a regular basis!
The kids love the ways the ice cream made. It was theatrical and magical for them to see the ice cream coming out from the smoke.

Liquid nitrogen has always seem like a bit of a one trick pony to me, but hey, it’s still around and I’ve checked out Nitro Lab a few times for novelty’s sake. It’s a mixed result depending on what flavour you get, but ultimately I prefer to stay to the tried and true air and cold temperate based ice-cream and gelato here. The nitrogen process makes for a weird, glutinous texture of the product and I don’t think it’s one I can find myself enjoying having it on a regular basis anytime soon.
By default Ice cream is already good. These dudes slap on lab coats and play with nitrogen before you get your Ice cream. Having said that is it very nice. Very creamy and full of flavor. I got a chocolate syringe with my Gaytime Crunch and that was a winner. Nice little addon for some fun.

Have you ever looked at ice-cream and thought it'd be much better coming out of a haze of liquid nitrogen smoke? Well, Heston did, and ever since he started serving nitrogen gelato it's kinda become 'a thing' now. But why bother with the nitrogen show? Well, there are two good reasons for that.
Firstly, it's for the theatrics. I was fortunate to have the full nitrogen gelato experience at Dinner by Heston Blumenthal in London. They surprise you with an entire ice-cream cart, and it's very interactive and personalised.
This isn't quite as interactive. You can enjoy the nitrogen show, but the people working there are just going about their jobs, and are probably tired of Asians like myself sticking cameras at them.
Secondly, you can have a quicker rotation of flavours. Think of it as 'fast fashion'. Because all gelato is made-to-order, there's less storage involved. So unpopular flavours won't linger long before they're replaced.
But flavours here will look familiar anyway. Nitro Lab focuses on classic desserts like Ferrero Roche, Tim Tams, and anything else you'll find in the sugar section at Coles or Woolies.
The Ferrero Roche tastes exactly like the iconic chocolate, except blown up. It's like when you upgrade to HD, 1080p, or whatever they're calling it now. The experience feels bigger and better with those finer details blown up.
Which is the main reason you'd choose nitrogen gelato over regular gelato. While regular gelato gets you the cinema experience, nitrogen gelato grants you the full IMAX, 3D glasses, 2kg tub of popcorn, screaming kids, and inflated ticket price experience. Whether that's worth it or not, depends on how much you love your theatrics. ⓕ
Wanted to order their Green Tea Moment but they ran out (it's pretty late), so sad. So we had Matcha Green Tea Latte and Belgian Waffle. The MGT Latte surprised me, it's nice and strong (like Eat Etc's Sybarite ). Belgian Waffle was freshly made. Crunchy and soft at the same time, yumm. Super friendly staff. Might go back to try their GTM.
Had the small Milo Surprise which was an actual pleasant surprise to my tastebuds! The ice cream was thick and creamy, a very good texture and taste and the ice cream was packed into a cup and generously topped with whipped cream, milo with a lil surprise of m&ms underneath! Despite the small cup size, the ice cream was very satisfying and filling and it is definitely worth a buy!
Similar but not the same with N2. Both are equal. I ordered Ferrero ice cream in Nitro Lab and it was good. The presentation was good as well.
Tried green morning tea ice cream, was ok in taste, next time i will try chocolate ice cream as that's my favorite flavor.

I chose the Milo Surprise Gelato and a waffle with extra $2. My husband likes the waffle for it crunchy outside and soft and warm inside. I like the gelato. It tastes good with mint ice cream and m&m. Too much light cream on the top that lot of them dropped off when I had the gelato.

The serivce was good. The ice-cream was quite nice. However, there was no one to clean up the dishes from the previous guests so we had to sit with a table full of dirty forks and dishes
First time we went here was in 2014 and I am so happy that it’s still here now in 2016. One of our first nights we stopped here for some dessert and got the Ferrero Rocher gelato with an added caramel syringe.
And the other day went back and got the Golden daytime. Both were really delicious, but the Rocher one is definitely a favourite.
They have already made the ice-cream with the liquid nitrogen so the novelty of watching them make it is kinda taken away - which is kind of disappointing but I guess they have to be prepared when big groups of people come in.
I love their thick shakes. They're always so thick and tasty and I actually feel full afterwards. I like the ice cream on it's own too - for me, this is more like traditional Italian gelati than the places that actually tout their product as being 'gelati'.
Wasn't as good as when the store first opened. The older flavours were a lot better than what they have now. Ferrero Rocher tastes like peanut butter with Aldi branded coco pops. The green tea one was alright and the mango one is good.
Nitro Lab is an interesting little place. I totally loved the "chemistry lab" theme. Seeing the friendly staff in lab coats was even more amazing. :)
I ordered the Ferrero Rocher and the cup of ice cream, nutella, rice crisps and waffer was unique. The first bite of it and i completely loved it. But although after a while it seemed too sweet to taste.
We got their tim tam milo ice cream with a salted caramel syringe. I highly recommend getting the salted caramel sauce it was really delish and perfectly salted. The ice cream was good and you get tim tam bits at the bottom after you dug through the chocolate milo ice cream.
It was really fun looking at the process of making the ice cream using the nitrogen gas.

An interesting range of flavours. Mine had a raspberry sorbet base and a generous mound of Nutella on top. It was also complemented by a nice , crunchy crumble. I forget the name but it was yum
