I've had desserts from this bakery before and finally visited one of the brick and mortars. The service was prompt and so friendly. Prices are pretty reasonable (especially for the toastie and coffee deals) and the sweets selection is unique. I've had the salted egg croissant before which is always a hit, but this time I tried the slightly less sweet matcha bronut. It's not too rich and so delicious.

Early on Saturday morning, I was craving for an almond croissant. All the usual places I go to were closed for some reason and so I had to find a cafe in CBD where I can get a light, not very sweet, a fluffy almond croissant. This was the perfect place for that.
The amount of sweetness was perfect. The croissant flavour was really good. The only downside was the size of the place. It is a very small cafe where I think only 2 people can stand at one time. I think it will be good for away stuff.
The croissants are so buttery they are the best croissants I have had in a while and the service is so welcoming. The store is quite small but feels very cosy.
Gorgeous freshly baked pastries. The window always looks so tempting. We have tried a few things from here - the hot cross buns are amazing, and so are their donuts. I have to go back and try their coffee/toastie deal, as their bread looks delicious.
Staff were friendly and explained to me what was in their breads. I got the orange brioche and also a potato Roll and enjoyed both. The loaves are of reasonable price I feel, and they were both soft and fluffy and their flavours are evident.
I really enjoyed the potato roll as it is a full potato inside a soft bun topped with a bit of mayo. The mayo itself was slightly too salty for me, but it did make the buttery potato inside resemble that of a baked potato. I really enjoyed this carb loaded bun.
Will come back to try the other buns because I love carbs and they have quite a few unique breads that I want to try!
A little place hidden away but popular with those who work in the area. Staff is friendly and helpful. I came by to try the coffee as I always see it packed. Not disappointed at all. They've got some good deals with snacks and breakfast. Will be back to try some of those and their pastries look so tempting!
Vegimite toast !!!!!! Was looking for a place to get simple vegimite toast on sourdough and this is it :) $6 toast deal with coffee. Love it
Came here today for a cheeky lunch snack! I got a long black coffee and a Cranberry White Chocolate roll- both were great, the roll was delicious (who doesn't love fresh baked bread?!) and the white chocolate was almost caramelised! I got the coffee and danish deal for $7- not bad value!
The service was lovely, too. The store is clean and modern but very small.
I had a nice warm Chai Latte at Brioche a few weeks ago and holy crap, I'd definitely say that it was probably one of the best chai lattes I've ever had! Will definitely be back soon for another one and hopefully I'll have time to grab one of their pastries because they looked absolutely amazing!
Stumbled upon this one when looking for my morning caffeine hit... And while the coffee was great - the pastries and treats that were on offer were the real highlight. While I didn't eat, I could have chosen from a number of items. Looked super impressive. I'll venture past again for sure
I like their coffee almond BRONUT as it was not that sweet as doughnut and the flavor was just my favorite one. Also, the tuna ink burger was great for a rush lunch, the burger was soft and juicy.
Very friendly staff. The potato, leek and bacon soup was delicious, as was the poppy seed crusty bread. Worth braving the cold weather for.
Award winning and recommended by Broadsheet, Brioche by Philip is a small little bread shop on Russell st, they do have one of the best bronut and sourdough in town, lovely French patisserie to choose from. Loved their iced Mork chocolate.. Yum!
I have strolled past and drooled at the window display, many times! But, not today. I went in and couldn't choose what I should try. I ended up giving the custard bronut a go. WOW... amazing. Worth a try, I will be back!
Chanced upon this place in the Melbourne CBD. One word - Bronut. Brioche donut is shaped like a donut but comes with all the richness and texture of brioche. Combined with the good coffee, it's awesome!
Great little nook brimming with pastries. Coffee was good as was the orange brioche I had for a quick breakfast. Prices and service were decent.
This place doesn't pretend to be anything it's not, the name says it all. Good brioche bread (sandwiches and Danishes) and consistently great coffee. With a small dinning area downstairs and away from street view it's my preferred little coffee dealer for lunch break getaways.
Brioche by Philip has many acclaims under it's belt, and including best bakery in Melbourne. There's no doubting that after you try their croissants and danishes. A quick stop into Brioche by Philip on a very cold Melbourne afternoon allowed us to fill our tummies up before dinner. With a wide selection of pastries on offer, it was hard to decide what to eat. The Russell Street store is just above the entrance of Izakaya Den, and is a quaint cafe that blends seamlessly into the Melbourne city streets. Β The staff were wonderful at suggesting something light from their wide selection of pastries, and the almond croissant was a definite winner for us. The almond croissant was light, flaky and filled with an almond frangipane-like filling. The buttery texture was lovely and wonderful. I'm not too sure why I didn't pick up the briont (a cross between a brioche and a croissant), but I know I will definitely be back to try more! With lovely staff and positioned just on the corner of Russell
The coffee here is amazing, possibly the best latte in Melbourne! The pastries are also delicious. Walnut white chocolate and cranberry roll is a personal favourite. If you are in the area definitely give it a try!
Sensational food and coffee!
Great bread and coffee. I tried ther briont! Such a brilliant piece. The pastries and brioches are very good and the coffee as well. The only problem if i go there is that i cant decide what to choose. My husband always has more that a cup of coffee here. Very good.
Amazing pastries, amazing coffee. Having recently started work in the city on Russell st, I looked for the perfect place to get away from work for a while (during my lunch break of course) and enjoy a nice pastry and a good cuppa... but boy oh boy I did not expect to find such an amazing establishment! The service there was amazing and they made me feel valued as a customer (even though it was busy and all I purchased was an apricot danish and a latte) and the prices are very reasonable, especially for what you're getting. Since I found this place I try to go there every single lunch break I have and would highly recommend you go check it out if you enjoy amazing pastry and coffee. I only wish that they had one in the suburbs so that I could go there on weekends too! Keep up the good work guys!!
Good pastries, especially for a chain. I was on a "coffabout" (searching the Paris End for flat whites on Saturday morning holds no guarantees, because my first two choices were only open weekdays to cater to the office trade) when I spotted this place's sign spruiking a coffee and sweet Danish for $6.50. (I had a large flat white, which added 40Β’ to the docket.) The pastry on my smallish sour cherry Danish was flaky and there was a tasty pile of fruit in the centre. Philip's other patisserie in the window looked tempting too. The coffee was superb, especially where the crema mixed with the foam -- that part had the same punch as a short black. Kudos to the young pair running it. Even though the bloke pulling the coffee seemed to be a trainee, based on the directions he was getting from the girl-in-charge, he made an excellent cuppa. I hope to see more Brioches by Philip rising up around town.
What a great little addition to the cbd. My kids love the mini danishes & I can't leave the store without a mini crossiant to go with my coffee which is always good by the way. Quality pastries are hard to come by in the cbd, but teamed up with a good coffee - now that's rare. check this little gem out, they are even open sundays, when not much else is!
Great coffee and snacks. I work in the area and have been impressed by the quality of sweet pastries at Brioche. They've only been open for a few months but they have hit the mark, very reasonably priced too. A plug for their coffee is also warranted, great job guys!!
Coffee and Sweets - Yum!. Found this place whilst shopping and decided to stop in for a rest and a coffee. Had their danish deal of coffee and a sweet for $6.50.
Coffee was amazing β had a single original long black recommended by the barista and this sweet called a cranberry walnut white choc roll which was delicious.
Picked up some bread for dinner also which the wife loved! Will def be back. Pity there isnβt a Brioche closer to my home.
Smells like heaven!. I love the smell of a great bakery!! The brioche here is to die for, I especially love the cranberry white chocolate one! The coffee is fantastic too :)
Dropped by for a coffee and snack a few months back and I've been coming back regularly since. I was surprised at how good the coffee was. The lattes are excellent but my favourite is the single origin long black - perfect amount of acidity and fruitiness that goes really well with the sweet breads. Walnut cranberry white chocolate is so good with the coffee. After going to degraves st for so long its nice to be able to walk into a cbd cafe that serves great coffee and not have to wait 15 minutes for it to arrive.
Place to be. I and my co-workers ran for lunch break here. We shared few sandwichs, chocolate brioche and croissant with coffee. The chicken sandwich bread was just perfect dense for its savory ingredients which was very delight. I also tried cranberry brioche & olive bread. Really good brioche and coffee!!!!
Bought a briont for morning tea and it was awesome. Had it with nutella and my office loved it. Also bought a couple of walnut cranberry things and brioche wheels. Everything went like hot cakes! Will definitely be back to try other stuff. And also my coffee was perfect
Finally got to try their pastry. Have walked past here once and was enticed by their various display of fresh pastry but didnβt had the time to try it and so this time decided to try their apple danish! Itβs so delicious and I look forward to try their other pastries soon.
Also saw mock chocolate on their menu!!
We stayed just around the corner and we made this our regular morning stop. The almond milk cappuccinos are so good. (Only wish there was one size bigger!) We sampled some of the baked treats and they were such a delight.
Great selection of pastries and baked treats. Coffee was really great, was our go to take away spot while we were in Melbourne. Quite a small space so sometimes the toasties took a while if lots of people were ordering. Highly recommend
Fantastic bakery and coffee around the neighborhood, recommended.

Got a great picnic spread. Super friendly and delicious

The coffee is good and the selection of pastries is great. And if you are lucky enough, your jam filled brioche lamington will have been injected twice by mistake! Oh what a lovely mistake!
Great coffee, and the danishes/donuts/sweet treats are incredible.
