Tre Bicchieri never disappoints. Always fabulous food, coffee and service. I had the smashed avocado recently on GF toast. The bread was unreal, and the pumpkin together with the avocado was very tasty!
First things first. This place has Amazing food! A well made latte to start the day before a scrumptious brunch is brought out. I had the “obligatory smashed avo”, but the team is taking their “obligation” very seriously because this was divine. Not happy to settle for just avo and feta, they added in roast pumpkin and pomegranate just to name a few little extras which gave it an amazing pop to the flavour. My husband had the corn fritters pyramid and was equally impressed.
Now for the feel of the place. The decor is very dated, with wood paneling throughout, but it fits in well with its surroundings. The tables were very small and a bit of a squeeze to for drinks and food on. The staff were friendly and efficient and we were even able to use a promo zomato had running at the time to get a discount. Looking forward to going back for more deliciousness!!!
A solid 4 stars for taste, service, and (particularly in comparison to other places around) value. The egg and bacon panini hits the spot, a little on the dear side but great bread. The tomato basil Asiago toasted savory croissant also good eating. Nice leafy local.
Cozy little cafe! :) Very pleasant place. I enjoyed my meal and it was executed with a non pretentious presentation and subtle degree of finesse. Good staff as well. Recommended, and we definitely will be back.
Very pleasant place! Cute little place literally walked there by pure luck, looking for a nice way to start a sunday morning. Amazing food. Highly recommend!
Tre Bicchieri is a classic Italian style cafe located on Rathdowne Street in Carlton North. Alfresco seating out the front attended to by friendly staff, the simplicity of the Bicchieri is divine. On a late sunny lazy Sunday afternoon we ventured down to Carlton to feast on some traditional Italian fair. Upon arrival we entered the small cafe and grabbed a spot on the bench inside facing the street to soak up the last of the afternoon sun. It wasn’t very busy which was nice as the lunch hour rush had been and gone with just a few customers enjoy afternoon drinks.
We order drinks whilst pondering over the brief yet satisfying menu. Our drinks arrived being the standard long black as well as iced mocha. The long black was lovely and acidic with a bold bitter aroma and dark toffee, smokey tasting notes true to a good Italian brew. The iced mocha was outstanding nailing the ratio of coffee and chocolate topped with the most creamy luscious vanilla ice-cream.
Time escaped us and we where finally ready to order opting for the muesli with added granola and the Berit breakfast with added chilli. The food arrived looking sensational showcasing the beautiful seasonal fresh produce. The Beirut breakfast consisting of poached eggs on Turkish bread, chorizo, grilled haloumi, thyme mushrooms and rocket was a filling flavoursome meal. The eggs oozed their yolks upon the slightest prick of the fork. The salty chorizo was balanced by the herby mushrooms and the gooey grilled haloumi added a crispy texture.
The house muesli with tropical fruit, natural yogurt, almond milk with added granola was equally as pleasing. The added granola was much needed as I image the dish would lack severe flavour and fullness without it. The natural tart greek yoghurt was thick making for a perfect base for the nutty roasted granola. Littered with seeds, nuts, dried fruit and filling oats this granola was sensational and not too sweet. The refreshed the palate and when consumed with the almond milk all elements of the dish ensured each mouthful was as good as the last.
Chatting the afternoon an extra chai latte was required to cap of a perfect meal. The chai was filled with cinnamon, cardamon and vanilla fragrances with a lovely frothy creamy topping with the only down fall of it being far too sweet.
Tre Bicchieri is a fabulous little cafe serving great food in an authentic laid back environment. The coffee is decent and the staff are wonderful making for an ideal location for small catch ups or more indulgent afternoons sipping wine in an authentic Italian atmosphere.
Really lovely, cosy little cafe that reminded me of being invited into someone’s home. I had the baked eggs and they were so tasty and perfect in the cooler weather. My partner really loved his bacon and avocado baguette - in fact he was completely obsessed with the bread and said it was the best he’s ever had!
Service was warm and welcoming and we would definitely return if we were a bit more local.
Tre Bicchieri let me count the ways I love you - staff are efficient, friendly and are able to anticipate your needs before you do - everyone is seated quickly, coffees are delivered promptly, staff crack black pepper, ask if you want a second round of coffee ......... I think the staff are sensational
The menu is fantastic- so many great options so many things I would like to try and then there’s a specials board ! The chef is innovative meals are well presented and tasty - I think we have found our new favourite place to eat ! We had the beans and sweet corn fritters wiry coffee and chai- amazing, well return soon and look forward to telling everyone how fabulous this cafe is
Tre Bicchieri has a nice hole in the wall cosey feel about it without being too pokey or cramped. Service was friendly enough although it did seem to take quite a while for us to receive our meals - other tables entering after we had ordered received theirs well before us.
I had the corn fritters special with the smoked salmon. My only complaint is that far too much mixed herbs was used to garnish the dish. They were layed on in a thick coat over the whole dish and had to be scraped off. The fritters were lovely with a strong sweet corn flavour to them and it was a very generous portion size.
My friend had the Beirut Breakfast and had the same complaint about the herbs coating the dish - unfortunately for her it was not so easy to scrape them away!
A favourite when im arround Carlton. Tre Bicchieri offers a weekly rotating wine selection, serving modern australian breakfast. Staff are very attentive and friendly. The menu caters for Vegan, vegetarian and meat lovers. Best coffee you can get on the street no doubt
Cute little cafe with a great atmosphere! Ordered a chai latte and the corn fritters with tomato and avocado salsa. Chai latte was lovely but the corn fritters were not so great. The salsa was really yum but the entire fritter stack was lathered in oil as well as all over the yoghurt on the side which added a grimy feel to the palate. The menu looks great tho so will definitely be popping back for another go!
Great coffee, great service, portuguese tarts are amaaaaaaazing-----------------------###---------------------------------------------------
Very pleasant place.. love the 60's feel.. serve nice coffee.. egg bennedict was very nice... reasonable price.. will visit this cafe again..
Chef knows how to cook polenta. Very enjoyable meal executed with a non pretentious presentation and a subtle degree of finesse. Good staff as well :)
Amazing food there, what a great brunch! Cute little place literally walked there by pure luck, looking for a nice way to start a sunday morning. Highly recommend!
Have been here many times - returned once again for a coffee and Portuguese tart to show off the local fare to my sister visiting from overseas. The tarts are just perfect, and the coffee is great.

This is great local coffee. Great staff. The chef is awesome and really does want customers to be happy. Awesome
Every now and again you have your days when you're a little bit down. You wake up on the wrong side of bed. Or you don't even want to get out of bed. That was me on Thursday morning, until my mum proposed we go out for lunch. It had been ages since our la
Cute, friendly and relaxed... Did I mention tasty?. I must say that I was surprised to read the last few reviews after our experience today. After around 40 minutes on foot in Nicholson Street trying to decide where to eat, we gave up and head back towards Rathdowne Street via Park Street and ended up in front of Tre Bicchieri, reading the menu outside. A few minutes later we were greeted by a friendly wait staff member who asked if she could help us. Having never eaten at Tre Bicchieri we decided to give it try.
Granted that it was well after the lunchtime rush, staff were still friendly and polite and coffee was nice. We also had the baked eggs with zucchini, spinach, capers, cherry tomatoes and asiago. Quite an interesting, fresh dish, and little different from the tomato based style baked eggs and quite tasty. We also had a small pistacchio cake which was moist, and not too sweet.
The menu is small, but there is enough to choose from, as well as specials.
We both enjoyed the service, the friendliness of the staff and even another regular who was full of praise for the cute cafe.
I admit that I do like to read reviews when determining where to eat, but in this case, I'm glad I hadn't and that we took a chance.
Recommended, and we definitely will be back.
P.S.
I forgot to mention the ciabatta. Crunchy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. It was served warm with soft butter on the side. Amazing how something so simple could be so perfect!
Tre Bicchieri takes the trophy home!. What a gem! Great place to enjoy my late Autumn Sunday brunch. Honestly could not fault a single thing - service with a smile, comfy chairs, great coffee and homely ambience. I enjoyed the smashed avocado + poached eggs, delicious. And if you are like me and can be quite critical of how my poached eggs are done, these were done to perfection (it's all about the runny egg yoke). I was convinced that The Corner Shop in Yarraville had the best smashed avocado - sorry guys but Tre Bicchieri has taken the trophy home :)
I just love there! Nice staff and nice place!
Good brunch option on Rathdowne. Had a very decent brunch here today. I had the green eggs (scrambled with pesto) while my wife had the corn fritters. The fritters looked great. Coffee was really good. Service was quick and friendly. Would definitely return.
I have only recently started dining at Tre Bichieri, and I must say their coffee, panini’s and baked eggs are fantastic!
The whole crew at Tre Bichieri are always friendly and prompt. I will definitely be visiting again very soon.
Was amazed at just how cute the moustached barista was, made a damn good coffee too!!!
Brunch this morning here was fantastic! The corn fritters are sensational!
Service is always friendly and I get greeted by my name every time I go -which is always nice. Thanks for the delicious soy flat whites :)
Mushrooms and prosciutto = tasty. A weekend favourite.I always get the mushrooms , eggs and prosciutto on crusty bread with seeds on top. Very tasty and at a very reasonable price. The Baroness gets the baked eggs. Coffee is good too. Staff can be hit and miss. When it's a miss its because they are those hip with attitude cafe staff you get a lot of these days. But overall it doesn't deter me going because the food is good and well priced
Love the crew who run this little and warm place.
Always up to the standards. Very genuine and funny bunch to start with; basic and tasty menu with excellent
coffee.
Everytime ive been there ; the guys make us feel very welcome.thumbs up;)
The smashed avocado on sourdough is delightful and the Portuguese tarts delicious. The coffee is up there with the best in Melbourne.
Yum, yum - 2 days, 2 visits. Great food, coffee and we'll be back tomorrow!
Great food, great service!. I've been there for both breakfast and lunch. The food is fresh, flavoursome and filling and to complement the food - a freshly squeezed orange juice. YUM! Definately worth a visit!
This place is amazing. The coffee is addictive! We have the baked eggs everytime we go and never dissappointed. Well recommended.
Cute place with friendly staff. Just happened to be walking by and decided to give it a go. Glad I did. Had the baked eggs which I thoroughly enjoyed and would go back for.
Like it. I like the coffee here and am a regular. I rarely eat but have on occasion dabbled in their baked eggs - they also do a good collection of bought-in pastries and cakes. Fare otherwise limited to panini/pizza things as their kitchen facilities are limited. Lovely decoration - dark wooden shelves - and its nice to come here the evenings they open late for a glass of wine as well.
My only compaint is that many of the tables are below the coffee machine, which clangs and bangs over you while you read the papers or try to have a conversation. Not sure how you soundproof an expresso machine though - my advice to sit in the window on the bench or up the back.
Great service! Friendly staff the smashed avocado on toast was yumm and refreshing coffee was really good i had to order another one! Definately coming back!
Green eggs were the best!!
Wonderful experience!. The staff love their job at this cafe - friendly, genuine, smiles on tap, and they know the menu like they have designed it themself. A lovely experience for breakfast this morning, a new cafe added to my list of those that I would recommended and frequent.
Love this place, my favourite option in the area. The food is all so good-a small menu but so well thought out. Coffee is great and atmosphere is lovely (squishy but nice). Staff fine.
Love this place! My friend has food allergies, they were so lovely about the changes we needed. Great atmosphere, staff are so sweet and food was Delish. Highly recommended.
Love doesn't even begin to describe my feelings for this place. The staff members are always courteous, attentive and they remember you. It's a nice Italian restaurant with a lot of heart. There's plenty of space inside, and when Melbourne graces us with good weather, al fresco is definitely what you want.
The food is very well seasoned, the portion sizes will put a smile on your face, the coffee will wake you right up and the pastries will make that smile linger.
TL;DR get over here! - Scorpion
Fridays Rhurbard porriage AMAZING with generous 6 fruits & mint, stacks of flavour. Today's insipid 3 fruits barely there and so disappointed as made special trip to have it again. Didn't finish. Thank you for reaching out and you generous offer.
Get a book at Alice's Bookshop next door, have a great coffee and enjoy your morning at Enoteca Tre Bicchieri. You can also have a nice breakfast or lunch there with Italian flair. I love their healthiest, most delicious vegan and GF dish. 💕
My friends took me Tre bicchieri, it was a delightful place to have lunch outside on a warm day. The staff were attentive, polite and friendly. The corn fritters were excellent and l would highly recommend. Thankyou 🤗
