Found this restaurant while browsing for some Thai food on Uber Eats. I ordered Gaeng Jued Fish ($10), Gaeng Jued Vegetable and Tofu ($7.5) and Seafood Po Tag ($10) that included prawns and mussels. They all tasted really delicious and they give a decent amount (of seafood as well) given the low price when compared to other Thai restaurants here in Melbourne. Taste was pretty authentic as it wasn't overly sweet like many other places that serve Thai food outside Thailand. It actually tasted like food back home. Even my friends who tasted my soup loved it! Will probably order again when I'm craving. Definitely recommend if you're looking for somewhere cheap, authentic, and decent.
Very friendly owner and staff. Pad thai is one of the best I’ve ever tasted. I’ve been ordering takeaway on a weekly basis ever since I moved here
I've been coming here in the past years when I was living nearby. The owner and the waitress are super friendly. The food is super delicious and tastes exactly like what I had back in Thailand! Back in uni days, I used to take away Pad Thai on Friday night and take them to uni for lunch even though they were cold I still LOVE THEM! (haha sad story there was barely anything open near Unimelb at weekends). I would highly recommend this to my friends and anyone who'd love to try local Thai cuisine!
Extremely fast takeaway! Both a Massaman Lamb Curry and Pad Thai were done under 8 minutes! Pad Thai was made vegan and was extremely flavourful. Massaman curry was hearty and delicious. Both were very affordable with generous servings! Will definitely be back!
Tried the red duck curry and pad see ew from the lunch special menu and both were delicious! The red curry was thick and rich but without being too much, the pad see ew had good quality beef and smoky wok flavour. Also had the fish cakes which were particularly good. Service was fast, will be back.
Nice little place. Came to get some take away and was promptly served for my dinner tonight. Chicken Phad Thai was devine. Outstanding tasting Thai food. Will be back!
Recommended: Red Curry, Pad Thai
The service is sluggish and the owner might come off as slightly rogue at times but the food really blows you away. It's reasonably priced for the kind of food served and you will not be disappointed. It's an authentic Thai restaurant, away from the hustle bustle of the city yet not too far off. The waitresses are garbed in Thai attires which to be honest adds to the ambience of the place. So all in all, thumbs up for the food!
Food and service is solid in this long running institution. Nice ambience dining in and prices to take away are really cheap. An extensive menu of all of the favourites. Fresh, fairly priced Thai beers. What's not to like? Recommended.
Decent classic Thai. This restaurant has been a staple in the area for a long time, had built up a loyal clientele. Lunch time menu is fairly quick, tasty and good value.
Authentic Thai food at very reasonable price, prompt service, can't fault this place. The curry is creamy and fried rice noodles are always on point. We visit this place at least once a week and it never disappoints.
This is close to work for us and we periodically stop in for lunch or a quick dinner. The Pad Thai is my favourite. The decor is dated - same as it was 10 years ago but the food is good and we love going there
Came here for a pad thai once, it was okay - nothing special but thats not a bad thing. Pretty filling and quick meal for those late night shfits/quick lunch breaks
We usually go to Mum Mum next door only because of familiarity. This time we decided we should give Lanna Thai a try. From first impressions, it did have a slightly more fancy atmosphere with branded cutlery and plates as well as several frames of official looking documents certifying the restaurant as being approved by some Thai bureau of tourism or commerce or what not.
We ordered the following:
1) Tom yum soup. This was nice but nothing special. 4/5
2) Spring rolls. They came piping hot and were OK. 4/5
3) Thai fried rice. Not as fragrant as what I was expecting and the rice was a bit too dry. 3/5
Service was good and prompt. 4/5
Overall it was an OK experience but I think Mum Mum might still be our regular for now.
We were very happy to see that they are still open after 10pm and were not disappointed.
Such a nice and cosy place with great service.
Food was tasty, nothing special but pleasing for a hungry mouth this late.
Love this place - have gone back for the banquet many times. Great value for money, ambience is nice and the staff are friendly. The coconut ice cream at the end is amazing :)
Delicious food and lovely ladies that work there. Pad Thai was very nice, as were the curries. Opposite the women's hospital. Would go again. Thank you!!
The Deep fried Wonton = deep fried perfection! Bubbly, and Crisp, not a trace of oil! These will be a auto buy next trip! The Roti was light and fluffy, and the peanut sauce was fresh, it tasted homemade and had a bit of crunch.
Real good takeaway joint. All of the food was a great standard especially the Penang curry and roti bread. Will definitely be back again
Slipped a little recently. Still not bad but used to be awesome. Here's hoping the service and food steps up again soon
Nice and cosy. I really like this place - I love all the cute little dishes every thing is served on. The Green curry is great! Good for a nice night out with a friend :)
I love this place. We have many Thai places near us and I prefer here. Have no idea why other reviews are bad. Cheap and great food
Hit and miss. When the food is good...its good...when its bad its bad...but i go back hoping for consistency...last two times have been great....never ever had a problem with service...benn there 30 times i reckon
Its consistency has improved now yum

Best Thai food I have had in Melbourne. Amazing flavors - tastes like real authentic home cooked food. Great homely feel and good service.
I'm surprised to read bad reviews on this place. I've been dining at this restaurant for the last 7 years or so and I'd go in for dinner once a month or so. The food is delicious, and service is prompt. Ive never had a problem in all the time I've been there. It's been a big hit with some of my relatives who are Thai. Highly recommend this restaurant
Average Thai Food at a slightly inflated price.. I agree with another reviewer that for what you get at Lanna the food is overpriced. Good Thai to be had on Victoria Street, check it out.
Fantastic Thai restaurant. I am a huge Thai food fan and my family and I visit many different Thai restaurants, but I have to say this is one of the best. I and my family will all be returning.
Long time favourite. The Sweet Chilli Chicken is absolutely fantastic...in fact I can't really comment on the rest of the menu, even though I've been going hear for years, because I can just never go past the Sweet Chilli Chicken.
Give me more!. I work nearby and would have never guessed that the food here was good quality. It looks a little dark and uninviting from the outside but is well decorated and clean inside.
I had the BBQ chicken and it was very tasty. I loved the combination of spices. The chicken was tender and well cooked too. I loved every bite of this dish.
Will be more than willing to pop in for lunch again.
Fantastic Traditional Thai food, nice surroundings and good service. Highly recommend this restraunt for those who have been to Thailand and miss the food.
