Review Naughty Nuri's - Melbourne

Petula Jemma
Super tasty, awesome variety on the menu, reasonably priced food and really great pricing on the drinks. Service was friendly and speedy. The dishes were honestly amazing; the calamari was my fave in terms of flavour, but the beef ribs were just a really fun and innovative dish. Can't wait to go back!!

Been here twice now. Their ribs are amazing!! Though portion is small and pricy. The signature fish was priced well and delicious! Crispy chips and pork belly we're favourites! Music is fun and a dance is performed which is nice. Definitely a place to visit

Sides here are yummy, service is fast and friendly. Ribs came out but where more cold to warm and the flavours a bit too sweet so a small portion was sufficient for me. The fries could probably be a bit more "truffley" they were lacking in the truffle seasoning. Good to come here in a big group. They have good drink options.

Five stars for me. Ok look. You can't compare this to the one in Bali. But it does come close. The grills here are awesome. Had the beef with lychee and the full rack. and it was amazing. The mie goreng taste great too, but order only if you're craving and if you can get pass the idea that you're actually paying $14 for instant noodles.

Food was delicious, huge portions. Mains are huge enough for 2 people to share. The chilli dip was really good! We had the calamari and the pork steak with truffle fries.

The food here is delicious across the board, large, and at regular Melbourne Central prices. The seating is great, and the atmosphere is fun. However, the menu was too difficult to read for me, there weren't enough napkins, there wasn't water provided straight away and there were too many pillows on the seats. Otherwise this place has really yummy, authentic food that really taste like true Indonesia!

The food was okay. Ordered the spam fries, BBQ pork ribs (their specialty) and an Ashton Mila cocktail. The spam fries were pretty average. The BBQ pork ribs and cocktail were a little better. A little better than average thanks for the latter two.

From the pork ribs to the skewers, I was delighted by the amount of juices and the flavour each item presents😍. It is more of a hearty feast but wow is it worth the cheat the portions are well worth the dollar you pay😉. They have a large selection of drinks for an awesome night as well. This place set me up for an awesome Friday night. 100% will go back next Friday - Be

The restaurant is trying to offer kind of fusion Indonesian food but they taste terrible.

Probably they try to adopt Balinese flavors into the dishes such as Bakso & Soto, unfortunately they do not work well.

It's a pity because the restaurant itself look quite posh and can be a destination for people when they invite business relations & colleagues to eat Indonesian food in a quite nice setting.

They should redefine the recipes of their food or employ a head chef from Indonesia.

Came here after work for dinner, it's quite empty when we arrived. I was hoping for the worest. But I was quite surprise about the quality, it's quite good.

We ordered the nasi nemak, coconut rice, ox tongue and cheese chips. All done in very good quality. Love it

Came here on Sunday night because we saw a deal through EatClub and I can safely say that there are no regrets. The pork ribs were really delicious-perfectly made. The beef was cooked nicely. Would recommend this place if you are looking for some good pork ribs

Finally managed to pop in for a feasting visit at Nuri’s and it didn’t disappoint. I’ve tried a Naughty Nuri in Asia and was excited to try the ribs here to see how it compares. I reckon the one in Asia packed a bigger flavour punch but Melb’s was not too far behind. We ordered the oxtail, pork ribs, truffle fries and nasi goreng. As with all the other reviews, I agree - the nasi goreng and pork ribs are A MUST! The pork ribs flavour is comparable to the one overseas but the favourite was the nasi goreng - soooooo flavoursome. The oxtail should have a chilli 🌶 icon next to it as the Balinese sauce was actually quite spicy (or maybe cos I just have a low spice threshold). The truffle fries was actually chips but was still lovely and crunchy. Great customer service and overall a lovely first time at Naughty Nuri’s Melbourne.

Ordered 5 dishes, I’d say the serving was a bit small but the flavours were good. Nasi Goreng tips it for me, super greasy but yummm, not good for your high blood pressure/cholesterol looking people.
The ribs were reasonable, sauce was good but I found the crispy duck meat a tad dry (dip it in the soup).
Got into the EatClub wave so this was 20% off 😍
Whalesfoodadventure
Found this place real average. Got the cheesey chips and mushroom arancini balls. Cheesy chips were horrible. The mushroom arancini balls were okay but not a good aftertaste

It is always a feast at Naughty Nuris, everything on the menu looks good and we always end up over ordering here. The nasi goreng is always a highlight and does not dissappoint

🍖BBQ pork ribs that are finger licken' good! Im obsessed with pork ribs, but they're usually a hit or miss. These mouthwatering😋 ribs from Naughty Nuri’s was smothered in a sweet sticky glazed secret sauce, had a wonderfully smoky flesh that gently pulls off the bone as you bite into it👌🏻. I am so damn hungry now😍!
Mi goreng (Indomie one) was probably the first meal I learnt to cook, was it also your first meal you learnt to 👩‍🍳 ? So every time I see ‘traditional’ mi goreng at restaurants, I cant help but order it as I rarely have indomie mi goreng anymore cos it just sits on my waistline🤫. This one at Naughty Nuri’s was so flavourful and so tasty with the perfect bouncy chewy noodles🍜 just the way I like it! Although it was on the sweeter side, but as a dessert lover it was perfect for me.

Nuri's is a nice enough place, decent cheap cocktails and the cheesy fries were good. Satay chicken skewers were a little disappointing however.

Overall was fine, was expecting to taste more of a Indonesian taste, crispy Chicken turned out to be soft and they only gave a 50 cent portion of samba, required 2dollar for refill.
Jessica Lin
We had the mixed meat platter to share between two, favourite was the pork chop. Everything was well seasoned and plenty for two girls to eat.

Also had some fried anchovies, they were a little on the salty side though.

Service was quick and friendly.
Saza_Lives_To_Eat
Looked good, meals were presented beautifully but everything we ordered was sweet. Becomes a bit sickening when the sauces are all sweet. Chicken was sweet, beef rendang curry was sweet and the beef ribs sweet. Love Indonesian food but was not a fan of this restaurant.

Finally tried Naughty Nuri’s and it didn’t disappoint! Came with friends and ordered the full rack of ribs, crispy pork belly, sticky pork belly, crispy chicken, oxtail and morning glory to share with coconut rice. The ribs and sticky pork belly were definitely the best dishes. Crispy pork belly was a little tough and dry..crispy chicken was ok and the oxtail pretty flavoursome. Portion of the morning glory was a little small but tasty. Friendly service. Will be back with friends to try other items on their menu.

I ordered mee goreng. It was tasty and good quantity. Would have liked a bit more seafood though. I feel this place is a bit pricey for what you get. Lunch specials looked like good value.

Wow , I’m food lover and now I have no need to fly to bali to enjoy good food but yo I can come here to enjoy the authentic pork ribs , grilled chicken . And the friend rice is incredible !!! Must try !!!

Finally come back to have lunch here after awhile. We ordered nasi goreng, crispy chicken and beef short ribs. Nasi goreng was flavourful and beef short ribs was very tender. Crispy chicken, well, it was as crispy as the photo. Very good kremes too I must say. Well done!
Michelle Pereira
The best place for affordable cocktail's only for $12and great food. Beautiful ambience and friendly staff. Sticky pork belly and pork ribs must try

I have been coming to Naughty Nuri for more than a year now. They’ve kept their quality.. offering delicious meals and nice quite vibe.
Recommended.

Food was amazing. Esta our waitress was extremely helpful and lovely. We took her recommendations and we weren’t disappointed. Would definitely come back!

Great food and atmosphere! Perfect for big groups like family and friends, brought my mom here and she enjoyed the food so much! Avocado shake was delicious as well as the pork belly and beef rendang. Highly recommend!
Theresa Chawulak
Some of the best authentic ribs in Melbourne! my favourite is the pork skewers with the pineapple. I would recommend this place to anyone without hesitation! Toughest decision is what to get cause everything is amazing
Jason Chua
My friends and I ordered the Mixed Grilled Platter which consist of the Half Pork Ribs, pork chop, 3 pork skewers and grilled chicken. Grilled chicken is the most delicious as it is nicely cooked.
Eben Surjadi
Great food and atmosphere. staff are friendly would come again for any casual dining. The place is very clean as well. very tasty nasi goreng.
Hungrytummy
I have been here years ago to ordered my favourite crispy duck in betutu sauce because I love it during my travel time in bali. So I decided to dine in again a week ago and I think the quality of this dish has dropped. During my dinner this time, the duck gotten smaller, dried, harder, and Smelly. The only thing I love is still their condiments on side. I paid $23 together with the rice. I don’t mind to pay more if they can improve the quality of this dish.

Few times visited here - awesome and quality tasty indo food, especially vego friendly. Quick staff and prompt service. Drinks are the best value! ✌🏼

Overall we enjoyed the food but service was disappointing. The platter, ribs and truffle fries were nice. Most meat ( pork belly, chicken & porkchop) in the platter was tender and flavoursome. We called in advance to make a booking as we wanted proper seats rather than bar chairs and we expect it would be busy on fri night, and we were told that there would be plenty of seats so we didnt need to book. When we reached there at 6, we were told that the proper seats were all reserved and only the bar chairs were available. After my friend negotiated for 10 mins with them, we finally got a proper seat with chairs at normal height. But while we were eating, the waitress kept trying to take our dishes awaaly even there were still pieces of meat and salad left on the serving plate and we were still eating. After around an hour and a half, a waitress told us " we need this table in 5 mins" and that's how we were kicked out. There is no shortage of restaurants where we can stay a lot longer for the same price (we paid $34 per person) so i dont think we willgp back

I tried their pork ribs when they were just recently opened and to be honest, I was dissapointed because the ribs were so far from the original store in Bali. It just tasted like dark soy sauce and nothing else. However, after a few years, I went back and tried other dishes. It turned out to be really good. I like the overall taste and the way they serve traditional Indonesian food in modern style. They are definitely a good representative of Indonesian food in Australia. Keep on the good work!
The Honest Glutton
Naughty Nuri’s
Came here on a busy Friday night. Service was hard to get adhold of but we got there in the end. We ordered
Mushroom croquettes - the most enjoyable part of dinner. The croquettes were interesting and tasted like Tom yum. Beef Shortribs - Flavorsome but the meat was a big tough so hard to enjoy. Crispy Pork Belly was disappointment as hell, I had to leave some pieces behind but it was basically unchewable. Especially when you get to the skin. I mean where do you guys source your cuts of meat from?
Gado Gado Salad - very average at the least. The tofu was dry.
The truffle chips tasted good though, so least they got that right.
Verdict - at the end of it I was screaming at myself, why didn’t you just go to Chin Chin? Same price and value but without the rubber meat.
Won’t be coming back. Thankyou, next!
Mish 🍔❤️
I had the beef rendang with a side of rice and my friend and I shared the cheese fries with the chili sauce.
The fries tasted very nice although I’m pretty sure they mixed it up with the truffle fries because the chips were soaked in truffle oil then cover in cheese and chili sauce.
The beef rendang was nice although I’d say my dish could’ve used just a little bit more meat.
I wouldn’t recommend the iced coffee here
Hungry Big Potato Bear
Food is probably around a 3 star but I’ve given 2 star to round out my dining experience with Naughty Nuri. My parents love coming here regularly for their ribs but recently we decided to try their chicken nuggets and chips under the kids section as a snack portion given we have ordered a few mains. We were disappointed by a waiter who said we aren’t allowed to order the kids portion but insisted that we can order the bigger portion and to pay double. Look, she failed to understand our needs / intention and this also isn’t a money issue, and we would happily pay for good food but we have ordered a lot of food and we explained that it’ll be nice to just taste something small. And of course if it’s nice we would happily get the adult portion in the future. It’s not like we came here just to have kids meal plus your menu never displayed the adult’s version as another option. What about just giving good customer service by being flexible like other restaurants such as grilld, schnitz and many more joints who don’t put this sort of restraint on their customers especially the regular ones who genuinely enjoy your food. What a poor business operating model.

A few nights ago I finally visited Naughty Nuri's Melbourne I had been in Greece for 9 months and was looking forward to having some Indonesian food😍

This place has got to me one of my favourites for dinner. Everything we had was amazing, the flavors, the presentation, the staff was super friendly and dessert was delicious!!Sliders (Mini Trio Of Burgers)

Pulled Beef, Crispy Pork Belly & Soft Shell Crab

Salt & Pepper Squid with lemongrass crumb, coriander sauce, topped with fresh chilli (spicy)

Mushroom Croquettes with bechamel, mushrooms, kaffir lime leaves, melted cheddar cheese, smoked bbq and lime sauce

Crispy Dick with betutu sauce and Nuri's sambal trio

The duck was slightly overcooked which is why I didnt give a 5 star rating

Beef Rendang with wagyu beef in coconut cream and mixed spices, potatoes, pappadum and coconut chutney

Mie Goreng (spicy)

Chocolate Ganache with honeycomb

I came for dinner with friends and shared three mains and two bowls of rice. Crispy pork belly is always hard to do well and Naughty Nuri’s struggled to make it crispy rather than hard. The sauce was oddly flavourless and felt just like oil, so it was really the spicy condiments on the side that gave the dish flavour (which was unfair on my friend who can’t eat spicy). The ox tongue was my favourite dish: the tongue was soft; the beans were crunchy; and the dish was packed with flavour. The beef shortribs were super tender but unfortunately a little bland on the inside. The addition of lychee was weird to us as the lychees soaked up the sauce and turned out quite salty. I don’t usually order coconut rice but the coconut rice we got almost could’ve passed as plain rice.
The tables were quite spacious and the 3 of us sat at a table that could’ve fit 6. The chairs were interestingly redesigned from metal barrels and the table also sat on a metal barrel. Adding on the not-quite-clean cutlery and crockery, the restaurant has a casual outdoor restaurant vibe, which I guess reflects its origin.
Regarding payment, I had a 25% off Eatclub voucher. When I went to pay, the discounted price didn’t sound right to me but I thought maybe it was because there’s a card surcharge so I didn’t dispute it. I calculated later and realised they had only given me a 20% off discount. It was only a few dollars difference for us but it makes me uncomfortable that they would cheat their customers.

Walked pass this place many times and decide to try it out. The pork ribs a must order is really delicious, the pork belly on rice was a dry and nasi goreng was amazing. Decor is good. Service very satisfy.
Food : 4/5
Service : 4/5
Decor : 3/5

Absolutely horrible. I would give a 0 if I could. I ordered the crispy duck which costs $23 with rice, and it was one of the worst things I've ever eaten. The duck itself wasn't fresh, there was a foul smell around the fatty parts. It was disgusting. When I advised the waitress she said she would tell the kitchen but she continued mopping the floor and did absolutely nothing. No kidding! The soup that came with the duck was a pool of oil, it was inedible. The chilli condiments were the only edible thing on the plate to eat with my rice. Never again!

I had my lunch today and very disappointed with the meals.. i order nasi goreng extra spicy but instead of spicy, the taste was really sweet.. just loss my appetite.. how this appointed spend money for nothing.. never come back again
Love Food
It's my second time to come to this place. The first impression was good since the restaurant atmosphere was good, unfortunately, their food, omg far from Indonesian taste. It's such a very bad experience. They come up with Balinese food concept but end up with mixed with Malay-into food.
Tasting Notes Melbourne
I would have given 3 stars but due to how good i found this brand to be in Ubud they get an extra star. I think for their pork ribs they should find a more suitable pork, one that is a free range variety for a gamier flavour to be more similar to the Indonesian counterpart. Have been here twice and found the second time around was better due to having more people to share more items.
Christy
Food was great when they first opened, now food is inauthentic and expensive. Sambal is no longer spicy, they no longer offer an option of vegetables on the side and use Siracha rather than similar Indonesian Chilli sauces. Previously all meals included rice in the cost, now it's charged extra on top on the meal.

I will not come here if I feel like Indonesian food, however it is a good place to bring people who are not very adventurous with food as they have more simple options. The atmosphere is nice for families and casual drinks.
Cheryl
Service was attentive and really friendly. Felt like they went above and beyond for us and our kids loved the girls working there!! The mocktails and milkshakes are pretty and tasty too will be back

The food is just okay. Crispy duck was too oily for some reason. And the service is rather slow. It's okay for the lunch menu price though, wouldn't recommend otherwise
Eat. Sleep. Create. Repeat.
Ox tongue, mushroom, mee goreng. Friendly staff. Comfortable environment. Large table. The favour is very strong but it feels coming from source purchased.

Naughty Nuri, made famous by the 'Anthony Bourdain' has been on our list for a long time. A mecca for good food in Bali, we finally made it.

One word 'Dissapointing' ....Probably because what we ordered wasn't that great. Ordered an Ox Tail, Crispy Duck, Nasee Goreng and Lychee Mojito.

Crispy Duck was the only saving grace of our meal. Super moist duck meat that just came off the bones, super spicy garlicky accompaniments and crisp and fried fish was just right. The only reason we rated it 2.

Ox tail was chewy and the Balinese sauce was more sweet then spicy. We have tasted better Nasee Goreng in an averagely decent restaurant...So this was a bit disappointing.

Lychee Mojito aas nothing great.

Staff is friendly and fast. Would definitely avoid going.
Coco
For a $10 lunch special, I would say lunch is a bargain. The chicken was cook to order and was crispy. It comes with a small bowl of soup which was lukewarm but tasty and two pieces of tempura vegetables.

Prices of the items in the usual menu seems very reasonable.

Amazing Indonesian place at Melbourne Central opposite TGIF which brews there own Naughty Lager that was really smooth and refreshing.

We had Salt & Pepper Squid to start with which was served in an interesting paper bag with green chilly dip.

The Crispy Chicken dish was interesting as the chicken pieces were served with various types of sides including a soup. The last thing was the Mi Goreng which was quite good as well.

The staff was really friendly and helpful as well.
Leila
Wandered around Melb Central and ended up here after much consideration, and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The ribs were deliciously tender and falling right off the bone. The crispy duck was ok. All in all, a wee bit pricey, but I left full and happy. Definitely looking forward to trying Nuri’s once more in the OG Bali outlet next month!

Colleagues and I come here every week to have their lunch specials, brought my family in last night to try and absolutely loved it. It’s a completely different atmosphere and vibe in the restaurant from day time, the restaurant was pumping with energy. We ordered pork belly with sauce (which was truly delicious), pork chop (a little dry but taste good), and ribs platter. Service was prompt but quite charming and attentive, and also their speed is impressive
Chubzzy
We ordered the mixed grilled platter and a mie goreng. I have to say the pork skewers were really good. Nicely marinated. The chilli was nice too.The other meats on the platter were not too bad, but I won't rave about them. The mie goreng didn't live up the hype the waitresses made. It wasn't too bad, but it wasn't fantastic either. We were going to order the half or full pork BBQ pork ribs but the pricing for a 6 ribs (half) and 12 ribs (full) were quite high.

The service itself lacked a little care. We were given a seat near the toilet by Waitress A which my friend didn't like, so we requested to change seats. Waitress B led us to a bigger table (of 6-8) but there was a booking for it, so we were moved to another table for 4 shortly after by Waitress C. That table was comfortable and we were happily eating and chatting for an hour or so when Waitress D came along and said we only had until 7.50pm to finish our meal because there are bookings. No one told us about a time limit?! We still had half the platter and the mie goreng. Waitress D walked away to consult Waitress C who came back and said she will shift us to another table. So we had to move again. I am usually happy to accommodate, but I felt they lack of planning and communication, and we had to move so many times in the restaurant just makes them look pretty unprofessional. No one apologised for having to move us too.

I will probably come back again if I am in the area, but not in a hurry!
Sabrina Liz
The cocktails are must-orders, especially the mojitos and lychee martini they come in cute glasses!! The dishes are good, especially the nasi goreng, ribs and squid (SO GOOD). Some dishes are mediocre however service made up for them, our family love the girls working here so energetic and fun

Came as a group of 4 last weekend, want to give a special shoutout to the friendly staffs. We shared a mixed platter, barramundi, night’s special which was beef brisket, and the sticky pork belly- all dishes recommended by the waitress. The sticky pork belly and the barramundi were the standouts! And the ribs so tender and flavoursome. Service was so efficient and in a friendly manner. Overall we were very well taken care of and left the restaurant happy with happy tummies!

Service was pretty bad to be honest. All the waitresses cared about was closing the restaurant that they didn't pay attention to customers. I had to ask for water 10 minutes after I sat down, which I never got. Tried to ask another waitress but she walked right passed me to continue closing up so had to get up and get it myself. Had to wait ages for someone to take my order, and when the food came I didn't even have cutlery which the waitress notices however, thought to prioritize 3 other things and then give me my cutlery. I ordered the side of broccoli, which came out cold and I barely touched. Instead of asking how my meal was I just got the bill handed to me. I just really felt like I was being rushed to leave and it was only 9pm with over 5 tables still in the restaurant.

Overall was an average dining experience. When we first arrived, there was no one to serve us so we had to wait a bit on the staff although there were relatively few customers.

Dish: Grilled Chicken with Rice

Food presentation: Portion size looked small. Presentation was below average as the plate looked empty. Would suggest having more vegetables and meat on the plate to ensure customers feel like they got what they paid for.

Food taste/ quality: Although presentation wasn't the best but the chicken was very nicely marinated! I actually enjoyed the meat a lot but there was only so little. Sambal was a bit too much on the sweet side, would appreciate if it were a bit spicier. Rice was cooked okay.

Price: $10. It is a very good deal for lunch and affordable for students. RMIT University is located quite close so students could easily walk over to have a nice lunch for a decent price. Downside is portion size is way too small.

Ambience: Cozy and nice place for a talk with friends/ family over meal.

Service: Other than initial wait for staff, service was pretty good. Staff was polite and food was served quite quickly.

With love,
Ying. 😌💕

Had the eatclub voucher and dine here.

Overall, The food is alright. Had the spare rib, ox tongue, and fried chicken. Spareribs is on the pricey side which doesn’t worth the value, ox tongue is a bit salty, fried chicken might be lack of seasoning but it’s really large in portion for the price.

The service is mediocre, waitress doesn’t seem to be enthusiastic, inattentive and lack of smile.

Still a place which give good value if you opt for the lunch as it’s only $10. Definite comeback if I am around and looking for Indonesian food.
Lysa Nguyen
The lunch menu. Abysmal. I ordered the grilled chicken and rice and the chicken was overly sweet with the sauce that was smothered on the meat. The sweetness overpowered the flavour of the chicken. The rice and the fried zucchini was literally the only part of the dish I liked. I haven’t had the other dishes that aren’t on the lunch menu but I hope it’s not as unappetizing as what I had. The dish was not as generous as I’ve read in other reviews, in fact the dish was not even photo worthy, hence why I did not upload a picture. Will never come back to this restaurant again.
Deniz
I really enjoyed my starter, which was the Salt & Pepper Squid. The squid was crispy and tasty, and the sauce had a delicious citric flavour. Really couldn’t get enough of that sauce!
Things went very downhill with my Crispy Chicken main. The chicken itself was gritty and flavourless. They definitely hadn’t salted it, so it tasted very plain and unpleasant. The sambal trio didn’t seem very fresh at all and was also very generic and low in flavour. The soup was probably the worst thing. It had a really awkward, overly sweet taste. There needed to be something in there to contrast that sweetness, but there unfortunately wasn’t.
The service could definitely improve. They come and dump things on the table without telling you what it is, and I also needed to chase down a waitress each time I needed help because they were never around. They weren’t particularly willing to help either.

Pleasant dinning experience. Went here for a business lunch with two highly respected communications executives. The $10 lunch special was great value and extremely generous portion size for what we received. Attentive staff and good quality food, it was almost too much but that was a very good thing. My BBQ wings were tasty however I do have to say the cheese fries weren’t as impressive.

Good place to bring friends. Great atmosphere. Never goes wrong with their food. Crispy pork belly got full of flavor and chips are very yummy.
Reem
I used to like this place, it was 4* for me, they changed the menu AGAIN.

The Mushroom Croquettes had a good taste but cold in the centre, needed few more minutes in the oil.

Fried Prawns crispy and had a good spice taste, I would like to have the mayonnaise in a small bowl on the side.

We had the Grilled Chicken from the BBQ, the waiter said it comes with a side of salad, it was more like garnish not a side. In the old menu you can pick salad or chips. The flavour is good but for $16, you expect a bit more salad.

The Braised Eggplant was average, couldn't taste the mint in the avocado puree. The sesame seeds tuile tasted like cardboard. The sambal had a yummy spicy taste.

Ox Tonge was very disappointing, over cooked, tasted like rubber, the sauce was bad. I had a bit pf the vegetables and the tofu but I couldn't even eat the ox tonge.

Total bill $66

Went to pay and I was asked to pay %0.85 additional because I was paying by card, seriously!! That's almost $5 for nothing.
I understand that rent is high in the CBD but you can't be charging extra for paying by card.

I don't think I will be going again.

Ordered grilled chicken, gado gado and mie goreng. Gado gado and the chicken tastes pretty good but the portion is small Mie goreng is horrible. The veg and chicken in mie goreng taste strange.

Good place to eat indonesian food. The ribs is my favourite. And the kangkung and crispy pork belly was not bad too. Once in a while is fine to eat here, but the portion was too samll for me which make it a bit pricey as well.

Went there with a group of 6 for Friday lunch. $10 lunch deal with soft drink is what they are currently offering. The fried rice was tasty n this lunch deal is very good value.

Came back again on the night (cos I live near Melbourne Central) to try other items on the menu. Their prok rib is amazing and super juicy. The beef ribs was nice but a little bit salty, truffle fries is something new to me and it was delicious. Their $10 cocktails is the cheapest in town (other places selling $13 - $16 per cocktails in the CBD) and it tasted amazing and the presentation was good.

Customer service of this place is 10/10, during the 2 hours dinner on a Friday night, we have been asked twice to make sure we were ok and being look after (it was a full house and i saw their staffs went to every single tables to check if everything was ok on every tables) . The price on their food menu is reasonable, cocktails is cheap and amazing, and with the customer service that we were offered, I will give this place 10/10....

JJ
The pictured dish was this place's only saving grace. That's the sambal fried chicken w/ cheese (interesting combi but it works). Tasty, with a good kick of chilli. It's not the crispy style fried chicken even though the chicken was battered and fried. Kinda similar to American hot wings. But still good. Companion had the bakso (meatball soup), and there was one meat ball in there. Granted it's a larger than average meatball, it's leaves you wanting a lot more for the price they charge. Soup was very average and a tad too sweet. Coconut rice was.... Odd and overcooked. Won't be back in a hurry.

Had lunch here with work colleagues. I loved the mouth watering sweet & spicy fried rice with big prawns. Great value too as part of the lunch deal. Also excellent customer service in getting us our Sriracha chicken wings despite not having them initially. The chicken wings with crispy fried skin topped with their fabulous sauces, are one of the best in town. Highly recommended.

Couldn't find the place we were wanting to get to so walked into here as we passed. As lovers of Malaysian cuisine we weren't disappointed by the Balinese chicken and ox tongue that were both particularly authentic. The cheesy fries were a spicy indulgence and the $10 cocktails only sweetened the deal. Definitely will be back.

Came here for lunch on a Friday, the place was bustling. Super value lunch deal at $10 with a drink. Our meals took a little while to come out but its understandable since the place looks so busy & staff was apologetic. Service was prompt and quick the Crispy duck was so good, friend enjoyed his satay chicken too

Nice tasting Nasi goreng but tight on ingredients. Plated a single piece of prawn and calamari at lunch yesterday. to make matters worst a fructose intolerant work colleague ordered a meal explicitly asking for no onion, to then be served a meal full of it, then needing to wait another 20 minutes to have the meal recooked and taken away. They were also out of soft drink which was included in the deal then slap you with a surcharge for using eftpos. Gotta cover their rent though right 😕

Naughty Nuri’s is a popular Indonesian restaurant chain that offers a menu of Indonesian fusion food – ribs, wings, cocktails, and traditional dishes.

I’m so disappointed with naughty nuri’s. I’ve been coming here and I’ve just been notified that the mains don’t come with rice anymore?? It used to be $14 for crispy chicken with a side of rice and now they have taken the rice out and I have to fork out $3 extra for steam rice?? Or $4 for coconut rice. This is outrageous pricing for the amount of food I’m getting. Please change your mains back to come with rice, or you’re potentially going to lose your customers cos this is the last time I’m coming back.

I absolutely loved the service at Naughty Nuri when my girlfriends and I went there to enjoy some cocktails and dinner. The staff were exceptionally polite and gave us the best service. Kim Young, the head chef and owner, also came to our table to ask how the food was which I thought was a wonderful way to connect with his customers and ask for feedback to make sure he could create dishes that tasted amazing. We loved the pork belly, chilli wings and pork ribs! I will definitely be coming back to try other dishes and highly recommend this restaurant to others.

It was a busy Saturday evening and dare I say the service at this place was appalling!

I wouldn’t blame the staff as there were only 3 of them running around the big restaurant serving close to 50 customers ( yes, I actually counted )

Orders were misplaced and other patrons had a difficult time getting their orders correctly. It was painful to see.

On the other hand the food was above average. The pork belly was absolutely yum and I would go back to this place just for that! The chicken wings weren’t the best as the Smokey bbq flavour was missing. The rendang was pretty light in flavour but it was still enjoyable.

Don’t get me wrong, I would go back to this place but the management really need to help their poor staff, who were struggling and you couldn’t really see a smile on any of their faces ☹️☹️

Our dinner this evening was deliciousness encapsulated. I am so grateful to be able to have such a pleasant and tasty night. We had Thai iced tea, bintang, Ashton Mila cocktails which were all great. We had chicken skewers, sweet potato spring rolls and roasted eggplant for entree. We then had the beef rendang, crispy duck and Barra for mains. My Barra was divine. The beef was slow cooked heaven and the duck was nice. I would recommend!!

Food was impeccable. The ribs were to die for and the ox tail dish was so good we ordered it thrice that night. The venue keeps it interesting by changing the menu from time to time, keeping the food contemporary. Each time we come back we are always impressed.

Had dinner here on my birthday last month.
The food was amazing, the staffs are incredibly friendly. They always made sure we are okay. $10 cocktails make me wanna go there as often as I can. I believe that the chefs put too much love on the food that’s why I m falling in love with this place. The place is Amazing, cozy and great. When I said bye to the chef he was so really really nice, he made sure I’m okay with his food. I’m an Indonesian but I would say this is more than Indonesian food. It’s Yummy , and more delicious. The sambas are super amazing. Thank you for a great experience. I told the staff about it and the told us that they have $10 lunch deal. Which is great!

The price is decent for the quality of food and portion. The ribs are a must, go for the monster ribs, cheeses fries on top of the full ribs. Heavenly. The Sriricha fried chicken wings are another must try dish, can be spicy but very satisfying. Do you self a favour and save some room for desserts. Mango pudding and chocolate parfait are a no brainer! This is a not a traditional Indonesian restaurant and they are serving Indonesian fusion so you will need to keep an opened mind coming into the restaurant.

Me and my friends had dinner in Naughty Nuri (NN) on Friday night. Before that night, me and my friends had dinner here so many times and it was last year. This time when we came back everything’s changed. The Chef was different, the menu and also the staff, I think they changed the owner as well. The thing is if their change makes thing better then its good for them but the new menu is horrible. Their food’s tasted salty, oily and soggy. We ordered ham chip 1st and we thought its the potato chips with some ham sprinkled on it but it came out as a ham deep fried dish which is $8 😑, i think i dont have to tell you how its taste. We also ordered chicken wings, we ordered 2 different sauce and again it tasted terrible cost $12 each. They put too much sauce so no taste of chicken after all and the chicken wings were soooo soft, its like the chicken that you used to make stock but you didn’t want to chuck it away so you used it to make deep fried chicken. My friends had alot of chicken wings in NN last year so they can tell how different this time. Disappointed. Then we had stir fried noodle and fried rice, absolutely oily taste. Felt like we just had chinese food not Indonesian food like before. The noodle and the rice looked like they got burnt $14 each . We also ordered fried squid its so expensive, small portion, salty and soggy cost $14. Its really a fail dinner to us. We did order some crispy pork belly and when the plate came out we got surprised. I can count only 5 pieces on the plate which is $16. When you dipped in the sauce ,again TOO SALTY. We also ordered a rack of pork ribs and it’s tasted average cost $58 . Also there were some THICK SLICED of cucumbers which tasted like frozen but my friends rekon it’s pickled 😰.1st time in my life i had a taste of a horrible pickle like that. They better just put fresh cucumbers than a failed pickle on the plate.
I think it was the last time we had dinner in NN we will never ever come back again. THE FOOD TASTED SO BAD ( COMPARED TO LAST YEAR). ITS OVERPRICED WITH SMALL PORTION. SERVICE WAS UNDER AVERAGE (last year all the ladies there were so nice, really friendly always asked customers how was the food).
If you want to try the food there you shouldn’t order chicken wings and fried squid
While we were having dinner there i saw the chef the came out sit down and had dinner with customers ( maybe his friends). I think thats why the food tasted HORRIBLE because only 1 cook in the kitchen and the restaurant’s quite bust at that time.
WE WONT COME BACK TO NAUGHTY NURI’S MELBOURNE AGAIN. GOOD BYE FOREVER DEAR. Thank NN

Located in Melbourne central next to Hoyts. Good place to eat if you are looking for cheap food but dislike the crowd of the food courts. One of the best Nasi gorengs i had so far in Melbourne. Mr had barbecue chicken on rice, which was delicious except for a bit too much barbecue sauce. The sambals were excellent. This place has made it to our ‘Must visit again ‘ list , which is a tough one to get into 🙂

Food was so so, too sweet and oily for my liking. portions were a bit on the small side for the price. They do have $10 cocktails and $8 beers all day everyday. The waitress talked too much. She would linger and chat and chat, sorry i want to talk to my friends. Environment went a bit overboard with the cultural theme i personally think. When it came to paying, the lady behind the counter refused to show me the receipt before i paid. She insisted that i pay first without seeing the receipt!!!

Suitably unimpressed. Where to start? (Sorry it's a long one)
1. When I booked, I asked for space for a Pram which was told wouldn't be a problem. When we arrived, we were put somewhere with no room for the pram so had to rearrange the tables so as to not block others dining at the table next to us.
2. Our table of 8 ordered the banquet ($29). At the time of ordering we mentioned one party is allergic to chili which fell of deaf ears as 2 of the 5 dishes came out with fresh chili on top.
3. There was a definite lack of food. It was "5 dishes of chefs choice". Well for the $29 we received: 1 mushroom croquette, 4 slivers of squid, 1 chicken skewer, 1 pork skewer and and 2 chicken wings. Which if ordered seperately on the menu would add up to cheaper than the banquet did.
4. The food that was served was all lukewarm at best.
5. Even though we ordered for 8 people, only 7 of each skewer arrived so we needed to ask for one more of each.
6. They charge a surcharge of 3% for credit card payments which, correct me if I am wrong, is illegal.

We would have complained in store, but none of the staff had the English needed to understand what we were talking about.
The menu was cheap which is good however the food is nothing special. We had the pork belly but there was barely anything on the plate, not really a “main” dish. The fried noodles were quite nice though! And truffle fries were yum but very oily

Came for dinner with family. Good location, nice venue. Personally speaking, the food is better than average. But not that impressive. And also, I think the price is a little bit over priced. Good service though. Will come back try other dishes.

As an Indonesian I was disgusted by what I was served at this “restaurant” it took all the worst parts of Bali and plonked them right in Melbourne. Horribly done fusion. Avoid this place at all costs.
The Fo0die
Fo0die dined as a guest of Naughty Nuri and as such, the rating does not give any consideration to customer service.

Conveniently located inside Melbourne Central on level 3 where Nandos and the Hoyts ticket counter is, Naughty Nuri is right next door to Pancake Parlour. The first Naughty Nuri venue opened up in Ubud in Bali when Brian from New Jersey met Nuri which is also how the venue name came about; Brian was nicknamed ‘naughty’ and together the venue name was created as ‘Naughty Nuri’.

Came here with a group of friends as a catchup 1 year after we had our last one which was funnily enough in Bali. Having tried the original in Bali, have to say we were very surprised.

The food here was yum, the pork ribs were beautifully falling off the bone while they even gave us extra sauce. Iga (beef ribs) had a very strong spiced flavour, sambal could be a tad spicier but I reckon its probably just fire breathing me who wants it hotter.

The duck was a tad stringey, but its a tricky dish as always for duck. The Ayam (chicken) bertutu was absolutely delish though. Highlights were definitely the pork ribs, the resistance was not biting into my fingers after licking them off the sauce as we just wanted more! Beer was also nice and refreshing.

Overall the experience was good, the staff was reasonably attentive, might had been the weeknight where it wasn't too crazy.

The quality of food was to die for! I've always passed this place but I've never actually thought to go and eat there... the ribs were so soft and tender, practically falling off the bone and into my mouth! Mushroom croquette was defiantly a fave as well as all the side dishes. Cannot wait to go back and eat a whole rack of ribs all to myself! Truffle fries also for someone who has never tried truffle sure made me love truffle! Perfect amount of everything 10/10 review
Also if you're vegan they are more than accomodating for options, the last photo is a vegan entree
Naughty Nuri's is a great place to savour true Indonesian flavours.
My preferred dishes from their vast menu are: Raw Tuna Wonton Cones, Yuzu Crab Jelly On Basil Leaf, Nasi Goreng and their Signature Pork Ribs. The chef is clearly giving Indonesian cuisine a fantastic twist.
Staff very helpful in giving food recommendations and explanations.
Would highly recommend Naughty Nuri's.

We have been here more than 5 times. This time we were lucky enough to try their new menus.
Our all time favourite is the pork rib! We would say this place serves the best pork rib in Melbourne!
We also loves their Indo fried chickens served with Sambal and Nasi Goreng or Indonesian Fried rice.

Their drinks were refreshing and their desserts were really interesting and unique. You should give it a try!

The ayam bakar is 5/5. The grilled chicken is absolutely delicious. The nice charred grill is complimented by the sweet soy marinade. The chicken is tender and juicy. The kangkung and sambals are the perfect condiments with the protein.

The crispy pork belly was good but just a little bland. The meat was soft and crispy and again the sambals and kangkung were the perfect condiments.

Staff was friendly and service was fast.

Also offers delivery.

Fantastic food ! Highly recommend it for people who enjoy Indonesian flavours. I especially enjoy their baby back ribs, which is made with very good sauce.

I absolutely loved their old menu which had the pigs ears, calamari and their amazing green chilli garlic sauce . The new one, not one bit. I thought the food was sub par and lacked flavour. Highly disappointed with this menu.

The name definitely doesn’t reflect the type of establishment this is lol
There were 9 of us so we decided to go with the chef selection of 5 dishes. We also ordered no pork in any of them which I believe restricted the kitchen as half the items on the menu was pork based.
Nether less the dishes that came out was tasty though a couple of them seemed a little bit oily for my liking.
Service was great and super friendly and the venue is relaxed.

Been to Naughty Nuri Melbourne last Saturday.Nothing compared to the one in Bali. NN Melbourne is more sophiticated, all the platings look great especially the new beef shortribs which was on special on the night but i am not someone who gonna take pictures to brag about it. The pork ribs was totally different from Bali presentation wise. The taste was much better than in Bali. Service was good and one of the staff was very funny and took good care of us. Overall ,will come back again

Had a great night here, food are delicious especially the ribs. I’m so impressed by the sauce, it taste a bit spicy and rich is a must try!!!
Most of the dishes portion are quite large so better come and happy share with friends.
They did some nice and colourful cocktails as well which are perfectly with the dishes.
Service is excellent, staff are friendly, reasonable price. According to the staff, they will have some new dishes and drinks coming soon.
It’s so worthy to come back and try something new cause I guess they can definitely surprise me again:)
Am Not A Critic I Just Love Food
Been at Naughty Nuri when they first opened and they were really bad. Food and services were bad but i was pretty surprise when i went last week. The menu may not be totally authentic but who cares. The food is sophisticated and delicious especially the cured kingfish in yuzu reduction.Ribs is 100 times better than before. It does not look like a piece of meat with no love anymore. It looks great on the board with the finishing touch with the pickled gherkin which cut the sweetness. What i heard was ,Naughty Nuri is under new management since last October and that the chef was trained under some big names chefs in Melbourne as one of my friend knows the chef.Service wise,i definitely think they were very attentive to my needs. Love it.

Fresh new menu at naughty nuris , some delicious tapas style food. Loved the king prawn skewers! Also wanted some traditional Indonesian food so we ordered a nasi goreng and it was delicious. The food was well portioned and satisfying , we will definitely come back again!

Came here with a large party on a couple of occasions and were served quite promptly. Staff will generally leave you alone unless you flag them down and you can expect long wait times if it’s busy. Servings were decent, food was better than average. Give it a go if you’re a fan of Indonesian food!
