Lovely wine bar in the southwharf area. We’ve popped in for drinks here a few times but only recently for a bite to eat and we ordered the ploughmans board which was really good value for money. There was a good ratio of cheese, meat, pickle and bread. All washed down with a crisp glass of vino. Best way to spend an afternoon.
We discovered this gem of a wine bar while wandering along South Wharf, and thought it looked welcoming enough to go in and enjoy a drink. It was a great decision, as we really enjoyed our experience here. It's a huge, open space with a large bar area dividing the room. Walls of wine and timber furniture make this venue very inviting and there is plenty of light.
I was served by friendly staff who were great at offering suggestions about the wines on offer. So many great choices that I could easily spend hours here. The food menu looked good also, and we are tempted to return to see if the food lives up to the other high standards. A great choice for a nice drink on the south side of the river.
Great restaurant. Warm friendly interior... open spaces and great live music. Food and wine excellent
South wharf’s best kept secret!!!
A beautiful cozy venue with leather couches, cute tables, and outside seating. Perfect place for nearly any occasion: catch ups, dates, and functions!
They house the best happy hour on the strip or dare do I say it all of melbourne?
$10 - pastas & salads all day everyday!
$6 - drink deals all day everyday!
You have the option to choose from nearly 5? different pasta options including 1 vegetarian option. Happy hour pasta is much simpler and smaller portion (think - enough food if you are looking to have a night out), but of higher quality and doesn’t taste as if they just heated something out of the frozen aisle.
Their full menu extends out to pizzas and some bomb looking meat and cheese platters for those in the mood to be bougie. This is a place that caters to everyone and is of pure class.
Oh and did I forget to mention that they also act as a wine shop too?
We frequent the Valley Cellar Door in Moonee Ponds and have done so for many a year. The new sister, Melbourne Cellar Door holds the same high standards, highly recommend this venue for a bite to eat, a glass of fine wine or both!!
Had a group dinner the other night. Beautiful venue inside, adds a great warmth to what is sometimes a cold area around South Wharf. We shared a variety of pizzas and some platters. The food was pretty good, the sharing platters were good value though the pizzas were a tad small for the price.
Now to the wine: great selection, very diverse with many, many different varietals to choose from, tick; very reasonably priced, for both takeaway and drink in, ie a bottle of Chianti Classico was $23, add $20 to drink in, tick. Friendly service.
My only feedback would be to provide cutlery on the table, even though we shared our food we could have used forks and knives. Second, water on the tables, there was two or three bottles of water for self service at the bar, but we were a group of 10 with 6 bottles of red!
Will definitely return.
Really great, quick, tasty food. This was really beautiful and we sat right near the fire to keep cosy on a cold Melbourne night. Will be back to enjoy again. Love!
Such good value for the $10 mains and $6 drinks from All Day...Everyday “Fast & Fresh” Pasta & Salad menu when we visited one weekend. Prawn chilli pasta was delicious as was the Calamari. Relaxing vibes and very friendly and attentive staff. Big space that’s good for cosy catchups, group gatherings and party celebrations.
They have a $10 menu including so many yummy pasta, such a great price. This place has a wine cellar vibe but located in the CBD. The food and wine is great quality but you don’t have to spend a lot. I like the cosy vibe inside, they even have so games to play.
What a great spot on South Wharf! Came here with a group of girlfriends and did the wine and cheese pairing on offer. For just $45 we were treated to a REALLY generous portion of really delicious cheeses unlike anything I’ve tried before, each cheese paired with two wines for the tasting.
The staff were very knowledgeable in the history and making of both the cheese and wine, and very friendly.
Will definitely be visiting this gem again
A fantastic new(ish) wine bar at South Wharf. They have a great selection of wines and great food. This is the 'sister' to Valley Cellar Door in Moonee Ponds. It is away from all the noise of Southbank - walk a little bit further down (near DFO) and give it a try - I highly recommend it.
Dropped in for lunch on a Saturday with a friend. Lovely venue, large with great decor. It has a separate private area that can be booked for private events. Menu had lots to choose from as well as a daily specials board. We each had the soup - pea and ham, which was delicious but could have been hotter. We shared the terrine platter, which was good accompanied by a glass of wine. Great place for lunch, dinner or just a drink.
Staff are attentive and friendly. The meals are packed with flavour and we'll presented. They have an extensive beverage range.
Great food and service. Enjoyed the atmosphere and certainly amazing value for money - highly recommend!!
New York Steak was reasonable price with a matched glass of Coonawara SA @$40. The flavour of the beef was really good. The chips was really crispy and tasty. If you like a dessert, there is not much of a choice only Cannoli with cream @$5.50 each. Very creamy and flavourful. Thin crust and crunchy. THIS RESTAURANT WILL BE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Always enjoy a visit here for a glass of wine and a cheese platter. Happy hour wines really good value. Fantastic selection of wines and a new wine club to join!
