We got the Chimichurri rubbed chicken and it was delicious. The chicken was moist and not dry like most chicken places. I particularly enjoyed the Green Machine salad because it went well with the chicken.
As fans of the simple neighbourhood chicken shop, we were excited to try the hipster version and Henrietta’s did not disappoint! Tucked away in a laneway off Flinders Lane, it was unexpectedly spacious and very Melbourne.
We had the chicken poutine and hot hennie burger. Their chips & house made chicken salt are amazingly good. We loved everything and can’t wait to go back to try the chicken!
Walk past everyday and only got around to trying it now. Everything was super delicious and flavoursome except for the roast chicken, which was also a bit on the dry side.
Chicken burger 🍔 started on the menu today! Chook, slaw, Swiss cheese, jalapeños and aioli. The chicken was a little crunchy - so so good. Especially with wine and mates. Yay :D I'll be back!
I've been to Henrietta's a number of times over the last four months since moving to Melbourne and the food is consistently good. I always eat with my partner and we order the 1/2 chicken, the potato salad and the slaw as sides. More than enough food for the two of us. We don't do the packs because we got WAY too much food in the pack and it went to waste. I really like lemony food so the lemony taste of the dishes suits me!
Best chips in town! Great customer service, really kind staff and always give generous quantities.
I would highly recommend (we go often as we are buderim locals)
Just love this place...best chicken in Melbourne, just wish it was in Brunswick. when my friends are in town we all meet here..love love love
Went here on a Monday night - not very many customers so received fast and friendly service and the chicken was delicious! Tender and well marinated, and the chicken poutine was a delicious side to share. Would definitely recommend!
Delicious food and friendly service. Probably the best roast chicken that I have had! Only complaint is the incorrectly advertised opening hours- it opens at 12pm not 11am on Saturdays. Looking forward to coming back and trying the rest of the menu. The crinkle cut chips were great.
Delicious chicken (I went with the Bannockburn because the Milawa had already been sold out that day). Nice and juicy, with a crisp skin. Salads were high quality and tasted of fresh, quality ingredients. The actual atmosphere in the restaurant was very nice too, with a good playlist going.
Highly recommended! It's a shame that this place doesn't have more people because it's a little out of the way.
The chicken, of course, takes centre stage. The brining and slow-cooking had rendered the meat juicy and succulent, and infused it with the aromas of herbs and smoke. The sides are nothing to scoff at either. The slaw was indeed awesome, the crunchy mix of veggies tossed with tangy vinaigrette and sweet currants, and with nary a drop of mayonnaise in sight. My favourite however was the green machine – a beautiful, seasonal mix of everything leafy and lush, tossed in a light mustard dressing with a scattering of pepitas. And who could forget the chips? Crisp and well seasoned, I couldn’t help but order a serve of The Gravy ($4) – yes, THE gravy – to dip them in.
Found this place with a few colleagues on our lunch break and we were keen to try it as it seemed relatively new.
I went for pack 1, which is 1/4 chicken, chips and coleslaw. The others grabbed a cold BBQ slaw and chicken wrap and a hot roll with chicken gravy and chips.
The crinkle cut chips were ok, they lacked salt and flavour but were crunchy and good to dip into the sauce. The 1/4 chicken had a very strong BBQ salt rub on it which was really unique but I enjoyed it, it was comparable to a nandos grilled chicken, but it had more of a charcoal/wood taste to it which was quite nice. The coleslaw was very chunky and dry as it had a little amount of dressing on it which was not ideal as the meal was pretty dry already without sauce or gravy.
The wraps and rolls were both nice however my colleague did not realise the wrap was cold unlike the roll which was a hot meal and was a little disappointed but it is clearly labeled on the menu which he must not have read properly. The gravy from the roll was very rich and thick in flavour which was nice to add to the roll or dip the chips into.
Overall the food was nice but it was very expensive compared to other chicken meal alternatives.
The chicken is nice and juicy. The salads are fresh and tastes amazing~!!! It's worth the wait~!!! The waitresses are really friendly and attentive to your needs.
Not the cheapest quarter chicken, chips and salad going around but it was delicious and given it is good quality chicken, I think worth the $18 price tag. Chicken was moist with a lovely flavour, slaw was ok, other salads looked good so will try them next time.
It's all about delicious rotisserie chickens cooked over sustainable, chemical free charcoal at Henrietta's Chicken Shop & Bar, the latest venture of all star hospitality team Stuart Brookshaw and Ruth Giffney (formerly of Albert St Food & Wine) Daniel Morgan (formerly of The Fat Duck) and Tim Hocks.
Awesome chicken, great vibe, great service, well priced. Such an honest place. Chipotle sauce is to die for. Get a share platter and swap the slaw for some ancient grain salad.
Henrietta's certainly doesn't disappoint! I've been reading good things about this place on Broadsheet and other sites, and the chicken here meets expectations. Their serving of salads here is also very generous, with my favourites being the ancient grains and the grilled pumpkin salads. Hearty and healthy food! Glad it's available on Deliveroo too.
Damn the chicken is good. Made with love and full of flavour. The salads are all fresh and tasty. The crinkle cut chips are a great addition but I didn't love the seasoning. It may not be cheap but it is great quality produce so I still think it represents value. Tight but decent little drinks list. Fitout seemed a little cheesy in parts but it's certainly welcoming and pleasant to be in. Friendly staff round out the experience. Good for a mid week meal but also suitable for a boozy feast with friends. I wish these guys success and I know I'll be back
Always thought a good ol' fashioned fish and chips shop in the cbd would be amazing. But how could my local afford the city rents by charging $3 minimum chips? Next best thing? Suburban charcoal chicken taken to the next level.
My friend and I shared Pack 2: half chicken, coleslaw, greens (cabbage, snow pea leaves, cucumbers, currants) and chips. Generous and delicious. We'd stop mid conversation to comment on how yummy it all was. Chicken was tasty, lemony and moist without being overly salty.
I think Henrietta's inherited the fitout of the previous restaurant - it's a bit dark but there's a nice casual feel. The staff are lovely, and if you're into such things, their tap-and-pay console is from the future.
Wow. Great place. It looks really nice, the chicken is heavenly, the rest of the food is excellent too, great service, it's clean, electronic payments accepted... etc. It's refreshing to go somewhere that just gets things right!
