Is there such a thing as too much fried chicken! I don't think so! This is a dish that everyone should opt for when visiting parlour diner. It is the best dish on the menu :)
Small american-style diner serving burgers, fried chicken and milkshakes. The burgers are juicy and not too heavy. The fried chicken are boneless and although made from breast still juicy and have great coatings. Would definitely come back again to try the shakes and other dishes.
These are some serious burgers! Parlour is a very understated little burger place that serves some amazing burgers. If you're brave try the Thunderbird burger - fried chicken, spicy sauce and other delicious bits, this one is my fave. Plus, we always get some onion rings and chips to share and dip them in their homemade spicy sauces. Delicious!
Far way from the elegant Windsor of the UK, we have a different kind of Windsor here in Melbourne. A friend and I headed into fried chicken eatery Parlour Diner on Chapel Street for a junk food fix. It’s a cool eatery with an enjoyable chilled vibe with plenty of friendly smiles and all the calories.

The Windsor end of Chapel street is the place to be! Have walked past this place on the way home and thought I might try it with Mr Dinosaur. He’s the American food junkie after all.
We ordered pretty quickly as we’d studied the menu on Zomato a couple of times and also the lovely pink haired waitress pointed at the two big groups of guys who were looking at the menu and told us to get in before they did, which was very nice of her. I was a little confused by how 4 buffalo wings could be classified as a meal but they turned out to be wingettes so both wing and drumstick.
They came with fried chicken but no sauce :( but never fear!! Pink waitress brought me a COLLECTION OF HOT SAUCES which I LOVED. Liked the atmosphere and the slayer sauce!
Firstly the service - great! Quick, friendly and a nice atmosphere
Now the ribs... not what I was expecting to see but once I started to eat they were quite yum. Tender and relatively lean, not too saucy and hit the mark in many ways. I can tell they have been recently reheated but still taste fresh. Served with curly fries which were perfect and an interesting sauce that surprised but impressed and I finished the whole serve which is rare for me. A side salad of lettuce and sauce was a refreshing balance to the pallet. Good value at $25, a half rack of ribs but I’m full.
My hungry little dinosaur had the buffalo wings, she said they were ok
Don’t judge this little diner/bar by its interior; the food here will satisfy your taste buds.
Their Blue Ribbon Crispy Chicken has a delicious crunchy batter, however the meat is only chicken breast, hence it may be a bit dry for some people (I’m more of a thigh person myself). Their Baby Back Pork Ribs were tender and dressed well - not too sweet, nor plain. Regarding the sides: the curly fries here are a bit too salty while the salad is simple but tasty.
Apart from the food, the service was very good; our waiter was friendly and attentive, while the chef decided to give us an extra piece of chicken because he felt they were a bit smaller. The environment was alright; being a bar, it was a little dirty and the tables were all off balance so they moved around a lot. Overall I’d recommend this place if you’re down for some ribs and fried chicken.
The Windsor end of Chapel Street is home to an enclave of amazing eateries, each doing their own thing and doing it well. From Asian to Mexican it's all happening in Windsor. When it comes to chasing flavors, there's always a few classics to seek out and the eponymous burger is one such item that can’t be ignored. Enter Parlour Diner....
Read the reviews and as chicken lovers, we were a bit unsure but thought it was worth a shot.
Inside it’s fairly small and reminds a little of my grandmothers house as a child but it’s warm, comfortable and reasonably tidy.
Staff were friendly and good with their “small talk”.
Now the chicken. It’s no lie when you read it’s huge. It certainly is very generous sizing.
I’m always hesitant with the outside is crispy - will it be dry and nasty on the inside? This wasn’t.
It was delicious breast and we shared 4 with onion rings and curly friend with the obligatory salad (decoration) and we ate 2 and much of the sides. So much food!
Really lovely coating and good balance of flavours.
The ONLY thing that would make this place better would a variety of sauces - maybe a hickory bbq or aioli but that’s just our tastes as we don’t eat spicy sauces.
Would I recommend to my friends - YES!
I would go as far to say this is the best fried chicken in Melbourne and certainly miles above F.A.T or the likes.
Keep up the good work Parlour Diner - we will be regulars here. See you soon!

This place has become our new local since moving to the bayside and boy do we love it! It can get really busy during peak brunch times on the weekends but the staff always go out of their way to seat you quickly. Food is standard cafe fare...nothin particularly sensational but everything that we have tried has been great at satisfying those brunch cravings. Cute and cosy feel inside and the front deck is perfect for a summer day!
The Windsor end of Chapel Street is home to an enclave of amazing eateries, each doing their own thing and doing it well. From Asian to Mexican it's all happening in Windsor. A casual stroll around the area will provide plenty of inspiration and there's no way you'll be stuck for choice when it comes to eating, morning, noon or night. It really just comes down to what flavor you're chasing at that moment. Enter Parlour Diner.
Amazing American food. The chicken is cooked perfectly and the crumb tastes great! Usually order the 4 piece combo with curly fries and their home made sauce. If you are feeling extra hungry order the pale ale onion rings and you won’t be disappointed. Can’t comment on the staff or restaurant as have only ever ordered for delivery.
Good fried chicken knows how to find its way into my heart, but, wow, Parlour's take on the classic dish has been haunting my dreams in the few weeks since I visited. Make no mistake friends, this fried chicken is not for the faint of heart. It's well seasoned, but the paprika is the star. I thought the chicken might be dry because they are breast pieces, but I was very, very wrong - they were moist and tender. At $25, the 6-piece plus chips is A LOT of food, so bring hungry company that you care about, because this here is special. Oh and the shakes are fantastic, definitely get on that.
Parlour Diner serves one of the best fried chicken dishes in Melbourne. Have tried many other things on the menu and love the small, laid back diner, but really it’s the chicken that keeps us coming back for more. Delectably juicy, perfectly crumbled and massive in size, they are worth coming here for!! The 6 pack easily feeds two to bursting and we also love the curly fries, salad and spicy sauce that come with it. A perfect meal!!
Was actually on our way to have Mexican but passed this place and done a U-Turn ha ha ha! I had the dynamite burger with curly fries and my partner in food crime had the onion rings with a hot daawwgggg!
Both the hot dog and burger were great! Packed with flavour and surprise surprise the burger didn’t have to be dripping with condiments! Yum yum! The onion rings? Holy moly!! Probably the best I have had! Not soggy and every single one was crunchy! Don’t even get me started on the Curley fries! Woweeee! 😍😍😬!
Staff were great (tight little crew that bounced well of each other!)
Would come back again!
Curly fries!! 🍟🍟🍟🍟🍟🍟 All my dreams came true when I saw these bad boys come out! So crunchy & not too oily. Burgers are massive, the patty has a nice texture not over processed so you get a good chew from the meat. Great flavour and patty comes medium (still pink in the middle). Nice work guys 👍👍
This place looked cute & i'd heard the burgers were great, thought i'd try something a bit different & went for the chicken burger it was huge! Crispy & delicious, the curly fries are soooo good! I really liked the dipping sauce too, a nice kick of spice in there too. The staff were a bit distant but i'd come back for those fries alone!!
Parlour diner is a cool place to stop in and get a big amount of food. Chicken burger on its own rails me and I am a large eater. Everything is fresh and open kitchen does give diner experience. Long drink menu is a cool add on which I do recommend.
I'm not going to pick the food to bits because it isn't the place where you expect perfect dishes however the food is good for what it is, comes out fresh and in good time. Give it a go next time you're in notorious Windsor.
We love this place! It's not fancy but the fried chicken and homemade sauces are fantastic. The staff know our order by heart now and we have never been disappointed. 😊
Went in on a busy Thursday night and was pleasantly surprised. The inside is small, probably only seating 20-30 people, but very cosy. The hot sauces that accompanied great curly fries were definitely a highlight. The burger received was delightful, being the cheeseburger. My only critique being the staff, they were slow to help and somewhat disinterested in their work. All in all, would return for more food soon.
Got the parlour burger with curly fries and was pleasantly surprised by this little joint. The meat patty could've been of higher quality beef but the burger was nice and fresh and chips crispy
I love parlour! In my opinion they dish up some of the best fried chicken in Melbourne. They have a banging hot sauce selection. Jalapeño poppers and milkshakes are a must too!
I can see why the chicken burger here is reportedly the best in Melbourne! I ordered the Chicken Burger and my partner got the Thunderbird burger. The chicken patty itself is one of the biggest chicken burger fillets I've ever seen! The chicken was crunchy and crispy on the outside and succulent and juicy inside. The burger was FILLED to the brim with salad but it didn't overpower the chicken and the cheese and sauce worked well together. Josh exclaimed after almost every bite "look how big this chicken is! This is the biggest chicken burger ever" and also that this was the best chicken burger he ever had. I have to say, I might just agree. We both managed to happily polish off every bite of the enormous burger. The chips were delicious and crispy and well seasoned.
I also ordered a Choc Malt Milkshake which was delicious as well! We loved our meal at Parlour and will definitely be back!
Best onion rings in Melbourne (don't knock it till you try it!).
Love the vibe, the spicy chicken wings and the corn on the cob with lime butter.

The beef burger here I had a while back was very mediocre. Then when a friend suggested I come back and try their fried chicken. I obliged and made another visit. The chicken is amazing! I ordered 6 pieces of fried chicken for myself, at the time I thought 30 odd bucks seemed steep for 6 pieces of chicken until I saw the plate come out. I was having heart palpitations just looking at it. I'm sure it wasn't anything severe. My heart was just excited that I was blessed with the biggest damn pieces of fried chicken I've ever laid my eyes on. I ate every bite and couldn't move for 4 weeks afterwards. Totally worth it.
When went here for last minute late Saturday night dinner. We got the onion rings, parlour burger with added bacon and the chicken burger. All so good. So tasty and freshly cooked and just hit the spot. Will go back to try other things on their menu next time. Service was a bit too relaxed but all in all a good burger joint!

Had the fried chicken here main for dinner here recently, the chicken could've probably used a bit of seasoning, BUT, I still enjoyed it thoroughly overall...
Dined in with the girlfriend. This cute little place was amazing. I got the chicken burger with avocado. So good! However when the curly fries came out I was in heaven. The home made sauce they give you with it is delicious. We left full and meal wasn't expensive either. Ps service was cute and very much like and American diner
An amazing Mother's Day
As avid fans of burgers and all things American (just no HFCS)!!!
The burgers were delish. All top cuts of meat on the cheeseburger. Chunky with lots of flavour. Great cheesy style sauce and loved the condiments. Top quality grass fed beef. Hard to find pretty much anywhere.
The free range chicken burger was full of crispy chicken in a great crunchy batter - so delish.
But the winners are the jalapeño poppers. So much sweetness and heat with avocado and sauce. Chips perfect.
Staff A+ the babe with the tattoo and the pink hair was amazing and the guy whose been around ten years in the area was amazing. Loved it
Food here is delicious. CHICKEN BURGER is one of the best going around, generous size as well. Onion rings are to die for, I don't think you get enough of them for the price though. Curly fries yummy and the corn is sensational. Service was quite good, although sitting in outdoor seating I did feel neglected at times compared to those sitting inside, we had to wait til they brought an order outside to be able to get attended to for new drinks or additional ordering and the cheque.
Met up with friends for lunch. Nice quirky place with friendly staff. Tried the Captains burger $16, 8oz patty with cheese, bacon, egg, onions, tomato, lettuce. Badically a pseudo with the lot. Nice but a little bland in flavour. Friend had their fried chicken $25. Well seasoned but a touch oily and overcooked. By far the star of the show was the po'boy $18 with dressed lobsrer and prawns in chimichurri salsa. Very tasty and definitely worth eating again. Good selection of shskes though the choc peanut butter was a tad too sweet and over choc in taste. Overall good without being outstanding and would return.
As part of my Great Fried Chicken journey, I found Parlour Diner based on reasonably good reviews. My choice was naturally their signature fried chicken. They were fried white meat served with a small salad and curly fries. The chicken was little over-fried and too greasy, I thought. But still, good enough to satisfy my cravings. The fries were way salty...too much sodium for me!
The boys had a standard hot dog and J had a regular cheeseburger. No ravings from them, but not too many complaints either. So I think we are par for the course here.
Good service, dining room was very busy and we were perched on high stools, so not ideal.
I came to the Parlour Diner after another restaurant turned out to be too busy.
The diner itself is quite nice, it has this American type of decor.
We were served by one of the bar staff and a tall gentleman. Both were warm and friendly.
The food actually took a while to come out. I'm hoping it was a one off. They did eventually fill to full capacity - maybe it was a busy night. The staff was apologetic and it was appreciated.
The food was excellent, it had very nice quality and flavour.
We ordered ribs (served with curly fries and salad) and the parlour burger.
I highly recommend the ribs, they are sweet and tender. As a huge fan of Ribs & Burgers in Hawthorne, I was incredibly surprised at how delicious they were.
The burger was really nice too, it comes with tomato, lettuce, cheese and a beef patty. It was juicy and they use a nice signature spicy mayonnaise (I think).
The table we sat at was kind of sticky, it was cleaned on request. It might just be the wood and type of varnish used but it was still sticky afterwards. Might be something to fix sometime.
Otherwise, a great place with friendly service.
Parlour Diner is a neat little joint down the good end of Chapel St. It offers fried chicken, burgers, beers, shakes... All that American fare. The beef burgers are average, so opt for any kind of chicken - either burgers or wings, both are delicious. So are their curly fries. There isn't much space inside to sit and eat in, which is a bit of a shame.
Post work, I had this craving for curly fries and the only place that I can think of who serves it, is this place. My goal for the day was set! I must be here. I came here with a friend and she ordered Old school choc malt shake and Original Dog - smoked borewurst, sweet onion, mustard, tomato sauce and cheese. I opted for curly fries and Parlour burger - 8oz beef patty, tomato, lettuce, cheese and pickles. The old school choc malt shake was delicious!!! (I wished I took a photo). Everything was really good. My cravings were satisfied. The decor of the place reminds me of an old American diner. The staff were pleasantly nice. I will be back if not for the dog and the burger, definitely for the curly fries and shake!
Burgers are well priced and really good. I have been several times and have found the service to be excellent. The twisty fries are seriously good!
Definitely give the fried chicken a go, it's delicious, and the salad it's served with is very tasty. The chips, for me personally, were a bit of a let down
Love the shakes here and the service. I ordered the chicken burger as it was recommended to me multiple times but it was quite dry when I had it. Everyone else loved what they got, ranging from onion rings to classic burger etc. Nice outside seating location and good relaxed environment.
Went with some friend & two young children. Decent servings, onion rings were amazing. I had the classic American - thick cut gherkins, cheese was yum. The showstopper was the chicken burger. Everyone had food envy - so I will be having that next time:)

Great place to come for a feed and a few drinks. The interior is cool, with a chilled atmosphere.
My favourite here is the fried chicken, definitely some of the best you can get in Melbourne. I’ve had the Dynamite burger here which was good, but I don’t think I would put it up there with the best in Melbourne.
Thumbs up to the staff here as well, very friendly.
I ate one of the best chicken burgers I've ever had here. The size made it a little unwieldy, but great flavours. The stuffed jalapeno peppers were deliciously decadent too (if a tad overpriced perhaps)
The burgers here are fantastic and the fried chicken here is also amazing. Alright let's talk sides now: curly fries, onion rings, jalapeño poppers. You can't go wrong. Add some of their home made sauces too. Oh and the fact they serve Dr Pepper is also a huge win as its a rarity in oz
You will not go hungry here - huge servings and yes they are not healthy ones. The Chicken Royale is pretty special and the entree size could probably satisfy two normal size people. Give the Buffalo Wings a wide berth they have no flavour, I would probably go back for the signature fried chicken, however, next time make sure you have a hangover and wash it down with a coke the hangover would stand no chance it appeared a few of the customers seemed to be in that boat.
I've been here quite a few times and love the burgers here. They also do really nice chicken wings. The staff are quite friendly and the diner definitely has a great ambiance for an American dinner!
Simply outstanding! My partner and I nipped in for a quick meal at around 3pm on a Weds arvo after having issues locating a cafe that was still serving food up that end of Windsor.
We were greeted by a polite and friendly young lady at the counter who promptly took our orders and sorted us out with drinks. Food was served super quick, however we were the only two people in the establishment at the time.
I order the PO Boy Sub, which was extremely delicious, perfectly cooked and really big! It could have easily fed two people, but I had no problems finishing it off because it was just so bloody amazing.
It's definitely not somewhere you'd want to head if you were watching your weight, but if American styled food is your thing, this is must visit; hands-down some of the best you'll get on Chapel St, and it wont break the bank.
Love it here. Don't expect to be able to find anythying remotely healthy on the menu, this place is where you go for an amazing greazy burger and a malt milkshake! I live that they have vegan options also! Cool vibe, great service, a definite favourite.
I love this place but every time I leave I feel like a glutton. I am sure nothing on the menu is actually good for your health and waistline but they taste so delicious. Have always ordered their burgers - The Captain and the Pulled Pork are standouts - with curly fries (love them!) and shakes but I am looking forward to working my way through the rest of the menu during the next visit.
Finally got around to trying Parlour diner and the fried chicken everyone keeps bangin on about! Curly fries are the best anyday of the week teamed with a succulent fried chicken breast complemented by a crunchy coleslaw you can't go past it! The fried chicken pieces are to die for, so much flavour and the right amount of dipping sauces provided to top it over the edge! Although they don't deliver they do a very quick pick up order! Yum.
Very impressed with parlour. The staff practically read our minds - knew exactly what we needed and what we might like. The food was tasty. Loved the crispy fried chicken and curly fries! Also had a really yummy oreo milkshake . Too good
Great place for when you're after a deep-fried fix! EVERYTHING is delicious, which is rare in these kinds of restaurants, but the serves are huge so you'll need to limit yourself to less than you want! The jalapeño poppers are particularly good, as are the burgers/rolls. The milkshakes are great too.
Pretty cool! It feels like ur suddenly out of Melbourne and in the country, the curly fries are awesomeee.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!
Ordered the CHOC MALT milkshake and it was delicious. We then got the FRIED CHICKEN with CURLY FRIES, ONION RINGS, CHILLI WINGS and the PARLOUR BURGER with BACON and everything was sensational. I would recommend to any BURGER LOVING HIPSTER, AMERICAN DINING AT ITS FINEST :)
Parlour Diner serves up the classic American favourites including burgers and fried chicken and on top of that, also offers a creative spin to some of the burgers/sandwiches on the menu, such as the Asian pork slider (pulled pork) and Earth Burger (Tofu burger – vegetarian).
The onion rings here are deep fried in a pale ale batter and well seasoned with a side of chimichurri thousand island dressing. An excellent combination of flavours and so hard to resist ordering a second serving – the combination of chimchurri and thousand island is simply divine and really adds another element to the onion rings.
Very generous and tasty burgers. My chicken burger was a while chicken breast crumbed and fried. Curly fries and dipping sauce were also enjoyable. Prices were reasonable too.
Great food. Generous. Juicy. Filling. Value for money. Fun vibe. Friendly service.
Highlight. The pork slider. Holy hell that was good! The sauce. The meat. The deliciousness.
Ange had the chicken burger. Massive chicken breast. Juicy! Needed a correander warning.
They were great about allergies and sensitivities.
Curly fries - fun!
Omg ribs and crispy chicken sooooooooo good. Get them and share....enough for 3 with milkshakes....and the chocolate malt milkshake best milkshake of my life. Service super friendly but a bit slow however the food made up for it and they were busy. Music was super loud so not ideal for conversations without yelling.
BEST DINER GOING AROUND
this joint is one of the best spots ive ever been to!! great food great staff and great price!! lets start with food.. my favorite is always the blue ribbon crispy fried chicken, the chicken is cooked to perfection and the curly fries are awesome and the salad well it just tops it off.. you cant go wrong witht that ordered also the servings are huge.. another one is the po'boys a classic from the south!! the combo of the prawns slaw and the roll makes a perfect po'boy!! the staff is great always friendly and always helpful the price is above average but it matches it because the food is just too good!!! ill always be coming back!!
this is GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME
The coffee here is the best in the Windsor area . ..
Key Lime Pie. A pie so good it should be illegal.
The chicken burger is amazing, curly fries were good. Ribs were succulent, tender & fell off the bone. Food is delicious but the service left much to be desired. Would probably come back & give it another go.
...burger came along stacked HIGH and impressive (it needed a skewer to hold it all up), unfortunately I don’t think the tasted wow’d me as much as the look. It was all good enough to eat, the patty was juicy and the egg burst and added to the cheese and onion flavour, but I don’t think I’d return.
Lobster And Shrimp 'Po Boy' Dog, 18AUD + Parlour Fries, 7AUD We were craving for something greasy but fresh at the same time. Parlour Diner seemed to fit the bill because we wanted burgers and dogs that are made fresh to order. Parlour Diner is fancier than a diner. Tuck down to the far end of Chapel Street, Parlour Diner's main customers look more like the hippie kind. The whole area is dimly lit with a bar area that serves an extensive array of alcoholic beers, wine and cocktails. My eyes went straight to the Lobster And Shrimp 'Po Boy' Dog topped with chimichurri salsa. Once in a while we crave for the junkiest of the junkiest food there is, and boy I must say these deep fried lobster and shrimp were worth all that calories. The lobster and shrimp meat juices were still intact and not dried out after entering the frier. The only downside to my dog was that I wished there were more lobsters and shrimps. I enjoyed my side of fries too, thins are my favourite! The Captain Burger, 16AUD The beef patty was from a grass fed Victorian cow. Going upwards, the layer starts with the patty, then the egg, bacon, cheese, pickles, tomato, sweet onions and lettuce. Its a great burger but I have had better. The size would just satisfy the ladies, and not for the big eaters. Pale Ale Onion Rings, 7AUD The side of fries were much more worth it than the Onion Rings. For the same price, five measly rings you can't really compare it to 50 stems of fries can you? I say go with the fries. I enjoyed Parlour Diner as a whole, and would recommend the Lobster And Shrimp 'Po Boy' Dog if you are ever here. 0 0 1 18 108 jeavne107@hotmail.com 1 1 125 14.0 Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-priority:99; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0cm 5.4pt 0cm 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0cm; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagin
We shared Pale Ale Onion Rings and Parlour Curly Fries which were hastily dunked into the mustard with chipotle sauce. A nice little pitstop in our Stereosonic summit. It is too hard to sit in the boardroom with a rumbling stomach. So instead we sat at the pretty blues tables in Windsor chatting about the Splendour lineup, whilst playing on our phones waiting to tuck into our burgers. `
I initially stepped foot into Parlour Diner with some trepidation but it was all washed away by the milkshake and fried chickadee.
Great buzz great food. Loved the atmosphere in this small Diner. Food was amazing too! Try th3 jalapeño poppers
Best burgers I've had in years, definitely best burgers on chapel. The owner is also a good guy who knows how to make a proper drink, so if you want cheap drinks fo during happy hour!
The most amazing fried chicken (boneless). Treat yourself to the combo with curly fries and salad. We always order a side of the onion rings too.
During the last lockdown we got it delivered and it travelled well compared to other home deliveries.
Sitting inside is casual and quirky. On a warm night it's good to sit on the high tables and watch people.
I dined here back in April as I was planning to bring a group tour through whilst we were on an opp shop tour of Chapel St. Sam was very welcoming and extremely helpful with our group we visited yesterday and the consistency of excellent food and service was outstanding. He made us custom drinks and his burger menu selection has something mouthwatering for everyone. Highly recommend very funky vibe and spotless amenities.
The best burgers hands down. The chicken is so delicious and crunchy. Staff are great and very friendly and they have a alcohol licence too!
I mean I have had better and I have had worse... I finally got to have their food with my partner and we both agreed the food was alright but didn't blow our socks off. I would recommend you to taste them for yourself, make up your own mind but they were fine.
Great recommendations from staff. The salad was amazing and very flavoursome. Added a serve of fried chicken! The chicken burger was superb too and very juicy. Laid back and easy going spot for a quick late dinner or a nice date.
Amazing chicken bites! We loved the recommendations and the amazing service by Sam!! Thanks for looking after us!! Will definitely recommend to others, we will definitely will be back! Xx
