Walked past Montague Park Food Store and decided to pop by for brunch. What a gem!!! We ordered pancakes 🥞, egg 🍳 and bacon 🥓 brioche and lasagna.
Everything Tasted fantastic! The pancake was hot and fluffy, it was simple but perfect.
The egg and bacon brioche roll was amazing and the beetroot relish cuts the fattiness.
Lasagna has bits of yummy crunchy bits and a huge salad to go with it. Delish! Absolutely delish 🤤
A small corner cafe (didn’t notice they sell anything , but why food store? 🤷🏻♀️)
Food 1.5: the food was good but small portion!
Atmosphere & Décors 1: it’s ver cramped , back to back with the table behind but not as bad as restaurant in Paris!)
Service 1: it’s average, nice.
So! There’s no 3.5, I’d give 4 then!
A perfect spot for brunch/lunch on a fine weather day. It is on the corner of lovely tree-lined streets and has plenty of outdoor tables on the sidewalk and in the attached courtyard. Great for people with kids or dogs. I’ve been there three times now, and the food is yet to disappoint. The menu is extensive and has plenty of gluten free options. They use GF Precinct bread which is definitely one of the better ones. The coffee is good too. Had the bacon and egg roll (GF option) this time around and it was the best I’ve had. Will be back!
Finally had the chance to stop in for a coffee here. It was 9am on a Wednesday. The cafe was busy with locals but not as busy as it is on the weekend. I ordered a large coffee $4.80 great price and it was a large, please see photo. Coffee is from Padre, meduim roast and delicious. Will definitely come back to eat here and to update my review.
So much potential but the cafe layout means you can barely get to the counter to order a coffee without being bumped out of the way by other customers or staff. Loosing a table or two would seem a quick easy fix. Nice ambience and decent coffee and food.
Really good service at this cafe, another one that is located away from the hustle and bustle. Had the Pork Belly roll (special) with slaw and apple sauce, delicious. Coffee also good. Lots of outdoor space as the cafe itself is quite small. Positioned nicely on the tram line bend listening to the comforting noise that tram wheels make when turning.
We came here twice for breakfast. Both times we ordered the same thing - avocado smash; poached eggs with tomatoes and bacon. The food was good; poached eggs were done well.
Staff and service were good too. The space at the uncover backyard is just perfect for a lazy sunday.
Plenty of space for the old and the little ones.
Great find! Place was almost full when we arrived. We were told in advance food will take long but we were ok. It was worth the wait! Tried the big boys brekkie, chicken schnitzel, brioche hamburger & curry of the day with rice. They were all delightful! Service was very friendly. Only complaint is the raining leaves or something that kept falling onto out table, food despite sitting in a sheltered area - completely unavoidable but frustrating to our dining experience.
Great brekky. Their beans on toast with a perfectly poached egg was seriously good. Service friendly and prompt. Small but nice atmosphere and outside tables in a quiet street.
Lovely little cafe on the corner under the trees. Friendly staff happy to accommodate requests and really delicious food. Coffee is great too! Regularly have brunch here, always reliable and a nice quiet spot.
Work across the road and this place has consistently great coffee, when i do eat i generally go for the whatever roll is on special and its always amazing. The owner and staff also make this a really nice experience...
It is the owner and staff that make the place. Love the food and the attentive services. Decent prices, good food and proper chai tea. Great outdoor space, buckets of chalk are provided for creative young children. A local favourite.
Love this cafe - food & staff are both fabulous.
Best tuna roll/sandwich in Melbourne (ask for it with avocado)
Pulled pork rolls & Sausage rolls are also yummy!!
Coffee is great.
A quiet cafe tucked away in south melbourne. The staff are very attentive and friendly. We ordered coffee which were served promptly and tasted pretty good. The meals took longer and were nice, but not very exciting. A nice quiet cafe to relax in the sun, but don't come here if you're looking for food that's outstanding.
Lovely cafe. I really like this little place, the food is always spot on and so is there coffee and service! Great find!
Great service! Great coffee!. Every time I come here I am greeted with a smile, the food is delicious and affordable not like the other dirty cafe on the same street.
I shall be coming here a lot more with my girlfriends since the service and coffee at Let Me Be Frank has gone downhill!
...the right amount of “local”, the kind of place where if you started ordering a coffee every day they would know you by first name within a week....
LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! First visit today.. New FAV breakfast in Melbourne with out a doubt. I Had the corn/quinoa fritters with smashed avo which were 10/10. My partner had the big boys brekky and loved his also. Generous servings, great service & coffee. Highly recommended to any one! Will be back weekly !
One of only 3 places to get coffee in Albert Park.
Great service, flexible with halves. The food was yummy, perfect bacon and huge portions. A varied menu with a lot to choose from. Have to come back.
Nice place. Awesome service and great food. Coffee A+++
Hard to find on a corner.
Simple, tasty, unpretentious. My favourite little local breakfast place to go. Been to this restaurant many many times.
Food is consistently good, staff very friendly. Very reasonable price too unlike many brunch places that charge a lot for small portions. And no insanely long waits for table.
Just the place to go for a relaxing weekend morning.
Go-to place for breakfast. Consistently good food with fresh, quality ingredients, and I find all of the staff lovely, friendly and attentive. Due to go back, haven't been for a couple of months now and I feel I'm missing out! Baked Eggs in Hell - favourite dish. Great coffees too.
Best Value Brekky Burger + Large Coffee Combo in Town .... Great little corner Café / Food Store with very friendly service (headed up by Barista Patrick) ... serves the Best Value Gourmet Bacon & Egg Brekky Burger Roll (big & bewdiful with all very tasty ingredients - inc soft Brioche Bun, Beetroot Relish, Aioli, Rocket & more Sauce {Manu!}), and large Coffee in Melbs - all for under $15, to get you through the day (Shhh - was my little secret on Wknds;-) ! More ... ?
Consistently cozy coffee!. I start my day at this place. With plenty of options in this neighbourhood, this cafe is unassuming. Squeezing through the prams, and cramped seating to get to my daily latté- is the only hassle. Staff are always friendly, and seem to keep their cool when it gets a tad busy. Consistent, convenient and quality at the right price - what more could I ask?
Cute little cafe for great breakie. Impossibly small inside, but with lots of tables outside, this cute little cafe has some interesting breakfast menu items. So far only tried 2, but both were delicious. Friendly staff are very accomodating of babies/dogs. Highly recommend.
My local for brekkie. Outstanding service and breakfast!
Bacon and egg roll. Had the bacon and egg roll which came in a big soft bun. Nice bacon with mayo, a soft egg and lashings of beetroot relish. Very tasty. Loved the coffee too, rich and hot.
Relaxed atmosphere, staff efficient and friendly but not "in your face", great place for browsing through the papers.
Great cafe hidden away. Who would've thought this tiny cafe hidden away in the back streets of South Melbourne could produce such great food and coffee. I thoroughly enjoyed my breakfast here and the great friendly customer service from everyone that worked there.
Definitely one to try!
Loved it. Great friendly service, beautiful food and drinks and nice cosy atmosphere. Will definitely be returning hopefully soon- my favourite little cafe in south melbourne!
Fantastic Corner Cafe!!. As a regular weekend diner, I often drive to Montague Park Foodstore for breakfast. The staff are always so pleasant, the coffee is a must and the food is absolutely sensational. For anyone considering going to this cafe, do it! I recommend the Dill Scrambled Eggs.
Never thought I'd write a review about an egg and bacon roll but I'm absolutely hooked! And it tastes twice as good when mixed with a hangover.
This cafe is fast becoming my neighborhood favourite.
Disappointing. I wish I liked this place as its so close to home, but the service the 3 times I have been there was so poor. Having to ask wait staff to be served after they've walked past you several times (my son & I were the only ones outside at the time too!) is really disappointing.
Head up the street a little to "Let Me Be Frank" instead.
The Montague Burger is awesome!!
Spot On. Fantastic little cafe ran by some very friendly people. New fella with the red hair behind the coffee machine loves a chat.
Close to the best coffee i've had in Melbourne. Food is simple but full of flavour. Smashed Avo on toast is A+
Can't go past the big boys breakie after a night at the discos.
This place is a regular lunch destination for me. The salads are always yummy and I can't say enough about the Chicken Schnitzel Roll. Lovely little spot right near St Vincent's Gardens.
An Honest Review. I have been a customer at this cafe for some time now and I love what they have to offer. I think they deserve that review, and in response to the previous comments I think your just being too critical. I have friends that go there JUST for the french toast, and others who get their coffee there every day. Maybe they ran out due to an influx of customers after their review. Either way I vouch for this place making great homemade food.
Great Cafe. I love this cafe for their fresh food and lovely atmosphere. A range of options that never fail to disappoint. A perfect local spot to enjoy a coffee and a meal. Delicious takeaway food as well.
Excellent food and service. Best mushrooms ever. Great vibe.
Tiny but great!. We came here for Sunday brunch when it was pouring with rain, so outdoor seating was unavailable. It's a tiny space inside but they do use it well and the waitress found us a table quickly. The coffees were delicious and quick and the found the service also very friendly and prompt. We both had the Big Boy's Breakfast, which was around $17, and loved it. You can tell the produce was fresh and made to order. The bread is made on site, the sausages were tasty and the tomatoes were rich in flavour. Looking at other tables meals has inspired me to come back and try other menu items.

The yummiest baked eggs 🥵 they happily did it without cheese for me and had a very tasty soy cappuccino as well.
A great little spot for brunch on a Summer morning. Great food well cooked and delivered with friendly service. A real “local” cafe, away from the bustle of Bridport St shopping strip.
There’s amble seating outside on the wide footpath or indoors in the cosy space. There’s also a small courtyard at the rear.
All the usual breakfast/brunch/lunch suspects populate the menu, and all at reasonable prices for the serving size and food standard.
Very yummy lunch. Smashed avo with pomegranate seeds, egg and bacon. Owner made great coffee. Loved it.
Been coming here since my first visit to Melbourne back in 2012.
Now living in Melbourne makes it a great place to go for brunch on the weekend.
Has the same quality that it did 5 years ago.
Got the pancake stack today and it was declicous and filling, coffee was great as well.
Very friendly. Great coffee. Thank you so much!
Good coffee and atmosphere - family friendly - with lovely outdoor spaces. Food is pretty decent as well. Close to gardens. Nice area to spend a few hours.
