I got recommended to try a pumpkin pizza by the friendly waiter and I gotta say, I’m so glad I was indecisive because it was the BEST pizza I’ve had in 2k19! I still don’t understand how a simply ingredients like roast pumpkins made it on my top list, but I’d go vegetarian if I can make this at home 😭
We are going back for zucchini pizza next time because the waiter recommended us pumpkin or zucchini🤤
Got to Oskar early just to see if we could grab a table without a booking. Recieved a cozy table in the back. Pizza we ordered were the bull boar and the three cheese pizza. Great flavours and the signature cocktails were a great accompaniment.
Attentive service - my partner and i enjoyed our experience there.
Incredibly disappointing, the pizzas are bland and tasteless. They are overpriced too. The worst pizza I have had in a while. Lovely customer service.
After recently moving to this part of Melbourne we came across Oskar’s. We had the Hot Sopressa Salami pizza and the Kipfler Potato pizza. Both were amazing but the star was the potato pizza. Beautiful base with perfectly cooked potatoes with Tallegio and Mozzarella
Go give it a try
Went to this place for pizza as we had a show across the street. Been to this place for the first time and it was during the busy time so we had to wait a bit for the pizza but when the pizza came it was really amazing . We had a mushroom and roast pumpkin pizza which were the winners, perfect amount of toppings and thin crusty base.First time here and was impressed, everything with this place is nice ,friendly staff, good food and good selection of beer and wine. Would definitely come next time before the show and would highly recommend this place if you are after really authentic pizza .
This place has a great vibe. Very small eating area but we didn't feel on top of anyone. Wait staff were great and helpful. The food (pizza of course!) was delicious and we ordered another round - just managing to fit it in - because it was so tasty. Would definitely recommend.
Had the Margherita pizza, it was the best one yet that i have tried in melbourne. The base is perfectly crisp and well seasoned. The sauce have the right balance of tang and herb with perfectly creamy cheese on top. Better margherita compared to kaprika, 400gradi. Italian restaurants on lygon street hv nothing compared to this.
Oskar Pizza is in North Melbourne right outside a tram line. Here they are known for the best Italian pizzas and they have been following me for some time on Instagram. It was when Metro had decided on the replacement bus service that I had decided to give it a shot. I didn't want the inconvience of having to take a train, then a bus and then another bus. Besides North Melbourne station is about 5-10 minute walk away from hereHere the place is small and intimate and so is their menu. This is good in a way as they can just focus well on a few things and do really well with them. We didn't mind the wait as the pizza turned out really good. Really good pizza takes a while to make. Some people complained but most enjoyed their food including us. Our pizza took twenty minutes to make.
The perfect place for a date night. A beautiful romantic atmosphere inside, food and service was above average, even the salads were really good!
Wow! Best pizza I had in a while. Reading all the comment made me go and try Oskar pizza it was worth it. Very friendly staff and the fresh ingredients used in the pizza made my day. Will be back soon to try rest of the menu.
Great pizza - we had the potato and also the mushroom. Both fabulous, we will definitely be going back! Cosy atmosphere with attentive staff, no complaints!
Man oh man. So good! The four cheese pizza is amazing. I usually ask to add some prosciutto on top which just makes it spectacular. Regularly get take away for a night in from here and I've never ever ever had a bad pizza. When I've eaten in staff have been good and wait times not too crazy for the size of the place. 5+ stars if I could.
Move over D.O.C and +39, there is a new pizzeria in town. Well, Oskar's is not exactly new (and has probably been around for awhile), but it was the first time that I had tried this quaint little Italian establishment and I was pleasantly surprised to discover that I had found my 'new fave'. Situated on Errol Street in North Melbourne, Oskar's is in the ideal spot for a bite to eat for before heading to Melbourne's iconic Comic's Lounge. Offering mainly pizza's and a handful of mains, the menu isn't extensive, but definitely offers some mouth-watering looking Italian cuisine.
Wow. Best pizza I've had for a long, long time. We ordered the mushroom pizza with truffle oil and balsamic onions which was absolutely delicious; savoury truffle with sweet tangy balsamic is the perfect combo. We also had the duck and prosciutto special pizza which was full of flavour albeit a little oily. We ordered one regular base and one gluten free and couldn't tell the difference! Definitely a huge plus for gluten intolerant individuals. We'll be back again, and again, and again.....
Very friendly and helpful staff, and by far the best pizza I've had in Melbourne. The specials are always worth trying and there's a great selection of wine to match. Fridays can be busy here, but understandably so.
Service and quality of food 5 star.
My background is Italian so I know how a pizza should be made! These were some of the best pizzas I've had in a while. Would definitely go back!
Great pizza!! Really appreciate their no fuss, simple yet tasty approach to pizza. Think there is too many pretenders in this great city..this joint is not one one them! Great seating, both indoors and out, give them a try!
Great pizza , drop in here before you go to the Comics Lounge. Really fresh ingredients and friendly staff , casual relaxed atmosphere great to catch up with a group for a reasonably priced night out.
Delicious pizzas, good vegetarian options, tasty salads. Not an amazing use of space, went with four people and we could barely fit on one table!
Oskar is a pizza joint. One of those thin crust, great ingredients, gourmet pizza type places. One of those places that uses “foir di latte” (which is really just mozzarella, but definitely not JUST mozzarella!)
Gluten Free Pizza Topped with Roasted Sweet Potato, Kale, Fetta, Pomegranate Arils. Yummo,. Perfectly cooked, beautifully balance and extremely tasty. Leaves your tummy feeling very satisfied and wanting to try a different pizza next time.
-----31 Dec, 2014-----
Great!. My family and I couldn't decide where to eat ( New Year's Eve, everywhere booked out, closing early or high set menus) we wanted something simple. A google search led to a phone call for an enquiry. The wait staff were professional, friendly and accommodating. They reserved a table for 4, at this stage we didn't know where we were heading to. When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised. It was warm, clean and a very relaxed ( but busy ) atmosphere. Service was fast with drinks, pizzas were done fresh to order on the most beautiful this crust topped with just the right amount of good, fresh ingriedients ( like a wood fire pizza, without the wood fire ) it took some time to get the pizza but we were happy to wait (tail end of a busy evening... and somewhere nice to be:)) We tried the potato pizza, ham pizza, prosciutto pizza and a very tasty mushroom pizza. I highly recommend this little place when you want well made homemade pizza in a nice setting. It's a gem. To the staff thank you for making our evening pleasant
Ok pizza but very average service. Give it a look in if you're in the area.
This is firmly our favourite pizza joint in Melbourne. The bases are thin and very yummy, and the toppings are fresh and interesting. We usually try the special pizzas which are always delicious, but the regular menu also has a lot of hits. Wine selection is small but really well matched and atmosphere is moody and romantic.
Have been here many times and will again. Not that great on value for money so I don't venture down very often but still great pizzas and excellent service
I having lived in Italy and Austria, I love 'real' Italian pizza with a a home made thin base and with fresh ingredients preferably in a wood fired oven.. Which, this pizza restaurant do magnificently. I am quite fussy to be honest and tried many pizza restaurants in Melbourne with only about two others satisfying my high pizza standard. And 'Oskar Pizza Restaurant' are on the very top, number one position of my list!! Very good service aswell. It's a small restaurant with a smaller number of tables inside, it has a nice casual yet classy atmosphere. The light is dimmed slightly and Ive felt comfortable dining there every time. They always remember you and treat you as a regular. There are tables outside with heaters and which are also a fire display which adds to the atmosphere. It's in a great location at the end of Errol street, not far from CBD and like I said, I think the pizzas are 'the best in Melbourne. You can also watch the pizza chef from your table making them and pulling them in and out of the wood fired oven. They have a nice wine list too. And, they are quite fast in making the pizza, so if your hungry, your not waiting along time and a fresh scrumptious pizza is put in front of you before you know it. I believe they also cater for take away pizza. Oskar's is a great choice! So Enjoy!
First time here.. Bases were the best I've ever tasted! Toppings were perfect.. And the staff were friendly.. Will definitely be back!
I'm a regular and loyal customer, love the pizzas here despite high prices. But I think a recent change of ownership has affected the service here. The other night we waited 50 minutes for two pizzas. There were fewer staff on and more tables packed in. Several people walked out sick of waiting. The waiters did a great job under stressful circumstances. Let's hope the new owners don't cost-cut to the point of alienating their loyal customers.
Wow. This place never ceases to amaze me. Pizzas' are cooked perfectly and the flavors, well, just go and see for your self.
Lovely thin crust pizzas, but seriously $26 for a take away pizza that one person can eat!?
Great pizza. Loved the crispy base. Will be back
Best GF pizza in Melbourne!. Great little restaurant - hard to get a table but worth it! Nice thin bases with an amazing GF version! The toppings were a winner all round. Especially loved the pumpkin & pinenut and the olive, chilli & anchovy. They even put the leftovers in takeaway boxes for the next day. Will definitely be back!
Love this place Quality i.... Love this place
Quality is solid
Excellent pizza and ambients
Recommend
Fantastic!. After a really long day I popped into Oskar to grab a takeaway pizza and have a glass of wine. The Sauv Blanc was just perfect, and the ham, olive and mushroom choice was one of the best pizzas I have ever eaten. The staff were so lovely and friendly, and the ambience warm and inviting.
Would go back in a heartbeat. Worth the few extra dollars to support such a great local business.
The first time I ate here my margherita tasted like it had been sprinkled with salt, I did not really like this. I have however returned and second time (different chef) was much better. My husband loves the bull boar sausage pizza. Cosy restaurant, not my favorite in the area but definitely worth trying.
One of the best pizza's in Melbourne. Pretty amazing. Gypsy ham, mushroom & olive is my fave. Every time I visit the price seems to go up (20% increase in 2 years) but excellent
I Love the Smell of Pizza in the Evening. Needed something quick & casual before seeing a gig at the N.M. Town Hall. From Urban Spoon reviews this looked like the place & very glad we chose it. Original plan was to eat outside, but by the time we arrrived in Errol St a Melbourne "change" had come through skuppering that plan! Entered the pizzeria and was immediately taken by the simple but cosy decor and the gorgeous smells coming from the pizza oven (as well as the interesting pizza toppings on the blackboard menu). Service was friendly, the pizzas arrived promptly & were v tasty, + the rose on the wine list was good too. Prices are reasonable so will definitely be back. If Melb weather is not on your side their pavement dining on Errol is protected from the rain by the original Victorian wrought iron canopies that run along much of Errol St.
Best pizza in Melbourne!. Make sure you get the garlic pizza with marinated feta and olives as an entree to share... Seriously good! Beware of the specials, can be really hectic combinations...
Take away wait. Went there for take away, wait for food was almost 40 minutes, when I was told to return in 15. Waitress was not very nice and came across as not interested. Seafood pizza was ok, chocolate pizza was amazing, salad was a little bland. Overall nothing special about the place, expected a little more from the pricing. Doesn't entice me to want to eat in for the experience, but I'd probably take away the chocolate pizza again.
High quality, good value. I had dinner here last night, and was seriously impressed. Oskar has probably the best gluten-free pizza bases I've ever eaten. And the toppings are magnificent. I have no doubt I'll return!
Great pizza which we we keep coming back for. Nice thin crispy base with simple fresh tasty toppings. Loved the ham and mushroom pizza we had on Friday but the pumpkin pizza could do with some balsamic vinegar and maybe a drizzle of oil.
Went to Oskar last night or dinner and was so impressed, we hated the pumpkin pizza and the mushroom Pizza and both were amazing. The pizza base was fantastic and so was the waiter. Will be going back!
Wow, what a great little pizza place in nth melbourne . The pizza base is the real winner here... Crispy with a fantastic tomato base and fresh ingredients to top it off. Had the seafood pizza with fresh prawns and calamari with a spicy chilli sauce and topped with fresh rocket , good stuff.
Back again for the 15th time. Brilliant pizza, awesome friendly service. Get the bullboar, the quail or the three cheese!!
Amazing Pizza but I question the service. Definitely one of the best places to have pizza in Melbourne. Wood-fired pizza with a crispy crust. I tried the quail pizza that was served with sherry onion. I think the flavours are great but I would prefer additional sherry onion. I also tried the mushroom pizza. I should say that the mushroom pizza is really interesting as they added some raw mushrooms. The raw mushrooms added extra flavour and textures! What a great idea!
However, the service is really bad. Staff was not attentive, perhaps they were too busy on a Friday night. It took them almost 15 minutes to take down my order.
Overall, I really enjoyed the food and I would definitely come back even though the staff are not that attentive!
Oskars is not your run of the mill pizza parlour, its not cheap & cheesey its not quick & convenient. Oskars is one of Melbournes finest gourmet pizza establishments, they tick all the boxes if you are looking for something special in a pizza. The crust is super thim & crispy, like a fine biscuit base, the toppings are of the highest quality & applied sparingly. Its all about the delicate flavours & textures. My favourite is the quail pizza, the base has a perfect amount of tomatoe concass braised quail breast & finely shaved italian pancetta, its baked in a hot oven until the base & the pancetta are both crisp, its then finished off with port caramelised onion & fresh oregano leaves. Flavour? To die for!
Yummy. Nice crisp thin pizza bases. Interesting topping choices.
Nice moody decor.
Service a little slow but not enough to ruin you night.
Will fo back.
Definitely a favorite, love dining in and sitting outside with the cute white table cloths and candles although the waitress did not light them. Pizza is consistent and fresh, favourites would be the gypsy ham one, the quail and pancetta one and the roast pumpkin one, the other reviews are right that the spicy bull boar sausage is very spicy but my partner loves heat so there was no complaints! Takeaway is quick and although the pizza is more expensive but with the quality and creativity of the toppings we are happy regulars
I used to love Oskar pizzas and then I was diagnosed with Coeliac disease and thought that was it for me and Oskars but oh no...they do gluten free pizzas...result! Gluten free pizza will never be as good but massive thumbs up for giving it a go.
Great pizzas. Loved the pizzas hear. A great local place that also does takeaway. really tasty pizzas like quail with sherry onion jam. A great vegetarian selection as well. They have a small selection of wines but with some interesting choices.
Properly done. Pizza is hard to find in this corner of town. oskar could make it a bunch easier by delivering their goods, but as we stand - they've all but eliminated pizza delivery in our house. to eat the available delivered options instead, im sure would be bad karma, and there's no point pissin off universe for dinner... so get off our butts we do. theres one with several types of mushroom for the vegos, its frickin tasty...
Recent Staffing Change?. Wonderful pizzas (if not on the slightly pricey side), but one can't help but notice the possible staffing change?
It used to be quick, knowledgeable staff who knew what was on each pizza, weren't so rude and more. The last three times I've been there:
1. A $24 pizza paying with credit almost went through as $83...
2. The main girl didn't know how to use the cash register or eftpos... huh?
3. One of the waiters spilled a small pizza on the side of my shirt, but didn't seem apologetic or fussed?
Please.... don't ruin what is an icon of errol st!
Decent pizza. I liked the Bull Boar and the Quail pizzas.
A little more on the expensive side, although I had no complaints.
Yum!. What a great selection of pizzas and this place is so well hidden away. recommend starting with cocktails at Rrose and then heading next door to Oskar for pizza - esp with pumpkin!
The pizza's are soooo good. Seriously the best I've had in Melbourne. Not the cheapest, but probably worth it. They're best fresh out of the oven in the restaurant. Staff are all friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. The cocktails are amazing too. Thanks!
Absolutely delicious pizza, lovely size, and great drinks menu! Loved it. :)
Very nice pizzas, great before a comedy gig at the comics lounge
This is a hidden gem. It might appear another usual eatery from the outside, you will understand their class once you eat. Their ingredients are so fresh and good in quality. They will prepare everything from scratch, including the dough. Then would bake it in the stone oven. All the pizzas were very nice and fresh. I would definitely recommend the place to others.
Went as a family, pizza came quickly and was great. Thin crusts and perfectly seasoned pizza. Highly recommend the Roast Pumpkin and Bocconcini pizzas.
Ordered The Herbert cocktail too and that was a delight.
