One of the best tsukemens I have had in Melbourne. Noodles done al dente, pork was sliced thinly and sauce was not overly salty. The only thing I was annoyed with was the service. I tried to order dessert and the waitress said we couldn’t because there was a long queue for tables so we had to vacate the place for others.
I ordered the wafu ramen as well as the goma tsukemen. The wafu ramen was nice and clean compared to the strong in your face flavour that tsukemen provides. The noodles however were much better in the tsukemen as they were not sitting in a bowl of hot soup so the texture stayed nice and bouncy.
Great place. Ramen is good, place is cute and one of the most romantic/cozy asian places I’ve find. Yes asian places are normally not romantic/ambient but this place does the trick
Good quality ramen, better than your average chain shop. Japanese staff. Funky interior. Also recommend the skewers, authentic.
Kiddo told me he dreamt about eating ramen with me in Japan... now I am craving for ramen! Where to go for ramen? For me, I have always love Mugen. Their dipping ramen is of course always good, but I chose the health(ier) option today of their chicken ramen. With clear soup, it has a certain understate elegance in it. Really enjoy my comforting bowl of noodle soup 🍜
@mugenramen -- Tucked away in the little alleys in Melbourne CBD. Had the tapas special which was the wagyu tataki and it was the highlight of the night. They have definitely done it right
Cosy place with mysterious gallery vibes. Great food, really enjoyed the dipping ramen with curry and the burger.
We ordered the Maze Ramen, Wagyu Tataki and Agedashi-Tofu. The dry ramen was packed with flavour and with the wagyu, it was the perfect combination. Will definitely come back and look forward to another meal here!
Such a hidden ramen bar and with the sitting at lower ground, I knew it would be something different. Having the Japanese style menu and the whole space was small but cozy.
LOVE the dipping ramen as you can't really find many ramen bars do this traditional style of ramen. The meat skewer dipping in raw egg was so special and delicious. I brought some friends who came to visit Melbourne and they all had a great time.
A cool little spot in a laneway across from Robot bar. Dark interior with anime projected on the walls, definitely slicker than the usual ramen spots! The ramen was good and Japanese tapas was delicious! Worth a visit.
Almost missed this restaurant, at the end of an alley. Not many seats available, finally got my spots after trying to make a reservation three times! Great favour.
Good food, nice ambience, cool staff!! Japanese restaurant suggested by a Japanese. Worth a try and I made it twice. Tried Chicken soba on the first occasion and Wafu ramen on the second time. All perfect!! I would personally recommend soba because of its tender broth. I wish I could check-in here every week.
We stumbled across mugen whilst looking for a pre Saturday night feed. I’m so glad we found it cos it was such a cool spot and the food was great. The service was really sweet and the bar itself is well decorated. We ordered the ramen where you dip it into the soup. This was delicious. As were the scallops! So tasty and creamy!
Found out this ramen shop because they are famous with their tsukemen. The broth from this ramen shop isn’t like any others ramen shop. If you like dashi flavour, you will enjoy it.
We had wafu tsukemen and wafu ramen. I love the broth consistency for tsukemen. It coated the noodle so well when you dipped in. Wafu ramen was enjoyable as well. Both had strong and deep dashi flavour. Their menu are on the pricier side.
Will I be back? Yes
Been here many times for the last couple of years. I tried few different types of ramen here. I like their tapas as well. Pipi, salmon, fried chicken, they are so tasty. Highly recommended
Nice dipping ramen (tsukemen) and a variety of sides.
Haven't been able to find a tsukemen place in Melbourne just yet (if you're reading this and you know of a place please share!). And so Mugen will have to do for now, when I'm craving some tsukemen.
They've got japanese chefs cooking up a storm in their kitchen on ground level, so can't go wrong!
Cute and cozy hidden restaurant at the end of Bligh Place
Located flinders lane area , firstly the customer service is good# polite and friendly, secondly the dining atmosphere is great. The food is tasty especially the Tsukune (chicken skewer) , the texture ramen looks similar when I travel at japan Tokyo . Thumbs up . Lastly the price is reasonable and definitely will visit again . Cheers
Delicious hidden gem. Will definitely go back when next in Melbourne. Only misstep, i think i got short changed an egg with my tsukemen. Reasonable prices to serving ratios. Lots of items on menu I would like to try.
Had a delightful time here. The place was cozy and had a nice 'artsy' modern feel to it. Staff were friendly and attentive and service was quick.
The food was excellent. We both ordered the Tori Soba ramen (chicken ramen) and a side of gyoza. The ramen was flavorful, and the noodles were just the right texture for my preference. The gyoza was top notch; juicy and flavourful, enhanced by the sauce it came with. I always love it when gyoza is slightly charred on the bottom - as it should be.
Too bad I didnt take any photos of the food, too busy enjoying it! I look forward to visiting this place again.
food 4/5
ambience 4/5
service 5/5
Intimate underground dining space hidden down a little alleyway near Flinders. I say intimate because the dim lighting sets an unintentionally sensual mood.
✔ Seafood salad: Even though the calimari and soft shell crab are deep fried the dish still tastes fresh and light because of citrusy yuzu mayo dressing.
❌ Gyoza: Nothing special in my opinion.
✔ Beef tataki: Beef had great flavour and was perfectly balanced by the ponzu sauce.
Friends ordered various types of ramen and were stuffed by the end of the meal, so no complaints on portion size. Staff were also very attentive and kind.
Delicious ramen soup and excellent service. We love the place. Very recommended to book downstairs. Thanks for the service we will definitely be back
Food 3/5
service 4/5
environment 3/5
Japanese style dipping ramen. The noodle is nice and rubbery, but the soup is traditional salty. The environment is so dark underground, which influence my feeling of suck noodles.
Second time visiting, this time was during lunch and the first thing the waiter will ask you is if you have a reservation. We did score a seat at the counter and it was a very tight squeeze. No meal is complete at Mugen without ordering their tsukemen ramen their specialty. It's pretty much the only ramen restaurant in Melbourne that takes this variety seriously so if you are craving tsukemen you aren't left with much choice. Let me know otherwise if there are more!
I get the wafu tsukemen (large), the dashi and soy dipping sauce is thick and rich and easily clings onto the noodles. The noodles themselves are thick and chewy, a slurping motion is required to get some aeration happening to fully enjoy the flavours. Also on the side is a perfectly cooked marinated soft-boiled egg, nori, sweet bamboo shoots and a generous slice of chashu, mostly lean but the fatty bits definitely got my heart pumping.
After finishing, you can flag down a waiter and request for the broth to dilute your sauce for drinking. It was still too salty to drink the entire thing however.
It's a different experience during dinner where you can kick back a bit, enjoy some japas and slowly sip on some sake. Lunch time was much more rushed and not as attentive as it was difficult to flag down the one waiter for the broth to add to our sauce. During dinner however they'd know to bring it to you. Downstairs is much more darker and intimate.
Menousai Mugen is in Bligh place just off Flinders Lane. It was a bit hard to find at first but after a few times I found it. It is a small place but it is popular with all the bloggers on Zomato. They have two storeys (one in the basement and the other one on the ground level). The basement is a lovely place to go to.
I really like this place! I had the miso ramen and it was very nice, I especially enjoyed the noodles and the broth. I also had the gyoza and the seafood salad. The salad was by far the standout of the night, it was fantastic. The restaurant has a very cool vibe with a great look!
The service was pretty good and the place had a nice welcoming vibe however the restaurant is quite small, located in one of the many intricate streets of Melbourne.
We visited Mugen in the early hours of dinner and ordered the Wagyu Tataki ($20), Chicken Nanban ($18), Wafu Ramen (L:$19) and Miso Ramen (S:$17).
I though the entrees were interesting as it was something new, but the Chicken Nanban was just off from good as it was not hot enough. The Wagyu Tataki was paired nicely with their Yuzu mashed potatoes.
There was a bit of a wait before our ramen arrived. I would personally recommend the Wafu Ramen as it was rich in flavour with just the right chewy noodle texture! I wasn’t a fan of the Miso Ramen as it was overly salty, so you would have had to drink a lot of water in between bites.
Overall the place is a bit pricey but willing to give it another try. Would like to come back next time to try the tsukemen dipping ramen!
The ramen was delicious and the staff was friendly and nice. Me and my friends really like to come here to have dinner together. The place is quiet and comfortable. Will definitely recommend my friends to go there if they want to try traditional ramen dishes!
Ambience : 4 (A cozy little join you can enjoy with a small group. Downstairs there is a projector which was showing a Japanese movie with the protagonist running a ramen joint, a nice touch indeed)
Taste : 4 (Was surprised that a vegan ramen had so much flavor. I have been generally accostomed to having vegan dishes on the blander side in case of Japanese cuisine). The dish I had ordered was a Cold Veggie Ramen and it good. Would have been great if there were more options for vegans.
Options: 2(only one vegan dish on the menu was a bit of a bummer)
Service : 4 (Cordial and Prompt)
Value for Money : 4
Upon arrival, the staff met us at the door and took us straight to our table. We were really well looked after being shown how to eat the ‘dipping ramen’ (a first for us). Enjoyable atmosphere and decent food. Not my favourite ramen place in Melbourne but the atmosphere and quirkinesses of this place made for a good dinner out.
Rating: 3.5
We were glad to have booked this chill ramen spot for the night out in the cool contemporary Bligh Place. We were walked to our table downstairs which had an amazing bar and comfy seating. Its nice warm night Shinjuku vibe really stood out to me. We ordered the chicken skewers, which were a bit overpriced for such small pieces but holy was it worth. We ordered the dipping ramen for wafu and curry. The broths were surprisingly heavily strong and left an unusual and exotic taste on our tongue. It was good, but the overexpressive miso element was confusing at times. The aroma hit right on the spot. Noodles were bouncy and smooth, lightening the broth. Overall, it was good but expensive. If you are coming for the vibes, and feeling the urge to splurge, this is an experience not to miss. Will come back to try their katsu.
Ordered the gyoza, the chicken nan-ban and the miso and wafu ramen. Obviously we came here for the ramen and it was lovely but the starters were a little underwhelming.
The ramen had a great broth, nice chewy noodles and a generous cut of meat.
The place itself is super cozy and staff are very friendly.
They had the loveliest sake I have ever tasted and a great selection of beers.
What topped my night was the old Japanese gentlemen rambling away at the bar - made me feel like I was back in Japan! Would visit again!
This ramen bar down bligh street is one of my faves. Mensousai Mugen do noodles the way I remember them in Japan. They are fresh and handmade and have a good chew to them. These bad boys are perfect for slurping. You can get the small serve of 200g or for an extra $2 get the large serve of noodles 350g. I recommend the later because the noodles are king.
Enjoyed this place very much. Lovely space, lovely food and lovely service. Simple, refined and perfectionistic. A good range of hot and cold ramen options and the ramen themselves were cooked well and bouncy in texture. Ramen done right!
Ordered:
Wagyu tataki: Seared wagyu served with Yuzu mashed potatoes, spring onions and ponzu sauce ($19.00)
🍲Miso Ramen: Special house blended Miso and Dashi broth, house made thin noodles served with slow cooked pork (chashu), bean shoots, pork mince, corn & half egg ($16.00)
Review:
Wagyu Tataki was absolutely delicious. I don't normally go for entree dishes, but considering this was friend's birthday I'm glad I took this chance. Orgasmic flavouring and pairing makes this a go to dish.
For the miso ramen - I liked that the chashu was a nice solid, fatty flavourful piece paired delicious thin noodles. The broth was a little too salty and heavy to savour but my friend's Wafu Ramen was perfect to slurp!
The interior of mugen is small but private - steep staircase with intimate lighting (aka date night feels) makes you feel like you've dropped into another place. A projected black and white clip in the background adds to the elusive atmosphere~
The place to go for dipping ramen. Very good homemade noodles, the dipping sauce is thick and nice. One of the closest ramen you could other then japan. And probably the only place that will give you hot water to turn the sauce into soup.
The services are pretty good, and one thing to note is that here is quite small as in store space wise, so either book early or come over at non-peak hours. The food portions are within the normal range, though I would love a bit more. There are two sizes for all ramens (including tsekemen), which you can choose from. (Pretty flexible so it’s fairly good for those who has small stomached).
Personally I recommend the Wafu Tsekemen or the Wafu ramen (soy sauce and dashi broth).
Oh btw. The Ume-Shu is fairly decent.
The atmosphere is really good, not too crowded, good place for talk.
Slightly pricy for my liking but 8/10 would visit again for a nice day out.
A vary cute place hiding in a small lane in the city. The ramen there tastes alright but not surprising. The service is good though. Next time I’ll try the bar there😋
Hidden ramen spot near Flinders known for their tsukemen or dipping ramen! The place is quite small with a ground floor and basement but we were able to walk in and get a table for 2 for an early midweek lunch.
We both ordered the wafu tsukemen (280g) consisting of thick ramen, chashu, seaweed, bamboo shoots and a thick broth. The broth was very flavourful and the ramen texture was just right, not too chewy or hard. Extra dashi broth was provided to add to the broth to thin it out for drinking after finishing the ramen.
Enjoyed the dish and definitely worth checking out but I would also like to try regular ramen here (not the dipping type) next time!!
Sad that Mugen isn't in a better spot because I would definitely be going here a lot more often. Their hamburger steak was just amazing and I really enjoyed the curry tsukemen. Would recommend
My friend brought me here some time ago and I’m grateful... The ramen and broth are served separately. Then, you dip the ramen into the rich broth and eat. Tasted delicious though I prefer if the broth were hotter. Also tried the pipies cooked in garlic, butter, and soy sauce... need I say more
This venue is absolutely stunning and the staff is beyond friendly and inviting. Were very helpful with the menu and the food is amazingly tasty. From the gyozas to the ramen, it is all amazing. Also when I asked for chilli they brought me three different types, which I loved. Will definitely be coming back!
My friend took me to this hidden gem and I was not disappointed. Ramen was nice, soup has really beautiful flavour and the dessert is yummy! Will definitely come back!
Such a great Ramen Bar. Tucked away in the hussle and bussle off Flinders Lane down an alley way, this little gem is some of best Ramen going in Melbourne. The dungeon is best enjoyed with friends. Ask Yusuke about the Sake, make you grab a bottle to share.
Love the place
Ramen taste gooddd
Chicken nanban taste really good recommendeddd
Staff are really friendly
Overall really love this place
Coming back when im in melb again
Something about the ramen here makes me so happy every time I come here. I love it even more every time I come back, the ramen doesn't just fill my stomach, it fills me with joy.
I usually get the wafu ramen (if I'm feeling soupy) or the wafu tsukemen (if I'm feeling dippy), and the gyoza to share. Mugen's ramen is different from other ramen places like Hakata Gensuke, in that the flavour of the broth is full of body without making me feel sick from the fattiness of the pork stock. The noodles are always the perfect texture (the chewiness matches the consistency of the broth), the chashu pork is always tasty (and not fatty), and the toppings are also delicious. The gyoza can be a bit oily sometimes, but it has a good texture, and the filling inside is perfectly balanced. The sauce that goes with the gyoza is heavenly.
Service is good. The place is generally quite dimly lit but that gives it a cosy feel. The bar stools are not the most comfortable but they're not a big issue.
Overall one of my favourite places to go to, the only qualm I have is that it's a bit expensive for the portion size.
Edit: I've been here quite a bit now and although it is still one of my favourites, I have been disappointed a few times. It seems the broth is sometimes different - the recent time I went, it was a lot thinner in consistency (almost like it was diluted), the pork tasted different, the bamboo didn't have the usual flavour of the stock, and the flavours just weren't as rich as usual. This hasn't happened very often, but it really is disappointing that the quality hasn't been consistent, given the price paid.
Highly recommend the seafood salad here. I’m a crazy fan of the soft shell crab, eat it every time I come here. It’s so surprised to see they add squid this time which is crispy n yummy. Mash potato beneath wagyu riches the taste of the whole dish.
Quick and friendly service, food was nice and a decent serving, if anything they could bulk up the portion size slightly.
Slightly pricey compared to others around but had a nice menu with plenty to pick from.
Very in and out eating experience, but the high level of service and fast pace adds to the experience. Entrees are pretty decent, but I’d come here for the ramen. Tasty firm noodles and the broths are flavorsome and well balanced. A bit pricey compared to other ramen places, but you can tell they’re using quality ingredients, so definitely worth a visit.
Would you believe I forgot to take a photo of the food. I ordered the wafu ramen. It took about 2 minutes to come... The staff are all Japanese, with the exceptional service that I was used to when I was in Japan. They do indeed know how to treat their customers well.
The soup was delicious and I drank it all, the texture of the noodles was just delightful. Perhaps I was super hungry - I ordered the large and I was still hungry at the end. It only came with one piece of pork which I thought was a bit stingy. Next time I'll have to order the tsukumen, and with extra noodles. Definitely worth going to but I think don't bother ordering anything other than the ramen because it's just so damn good (although the neighbouring table's clams do look very good). I love the beers they have on offer as well. They also offer a 10% discount at robot bar if you took the receipt from Mugen ramen over.
Pretty impressed with this spot...Got the tantanmen and the wafu tsukemen which was a nice break from my tonkotsu obsession. Both ramens were delicious and had that impact of reminding me if being in Japan.
The tataki on mashed potato was interesting but lets face it...your coming here for the ramen.
Highly recommend it!
PS. any other good tsukemen places in Melb??
Want a mind blowing ramen? Mugen is the great place to be. Average portion, however, soft but chewy ramen in rich broth. If you haven't tried Tsukemen (dipping noodles), try it in Mugen and you may not be interested in Tsukemen else where because they do it right and will probably set your bar for that quite high. The place is bar-like, tiny and quite cozy, but in my opinion, it's not the best place for chatting over a meal because it gets quite busy and noisy especially at night.
Hidden in a small alleyway, the main dining room is found downstairs and holds about 20-25 people all up but because we came late on a Wednesday night, we had no issue getting a table. Service was prompt and our entrees were brought out super quick. We ordered the wagyu tataki and omg it was soooo yummy! Definitely the highlight of the night with melt in your mouth meat and fluffy potato mash underneath (bit of a weird combo but it works). We also ordered the gyoza which was perfectly crispy and was served with a strange sauce. Finally the ramen. I ordered the wafu ramen and boyfie ordered the goma tsukemen. My ramen was a lighter broth with decent noodles and one slice of chasu pork. Honestly, it was okay, having just come back from japan recently I know my tastebuds were a little underwhelmed with the lack of flavour but it definitely wasn’t a bad experience, I just expected more flavour. Boyfie’s tsukemen was nice and the thick noodles were a joy to chew on. Flavour wise it had a slight fishy? taste but was nice. Overall a nice experience except for one thing: about 4 tiny little fruit flies must’ve been hungry too because they would not stop lingering around us and one even landed on boyfie’s chopstick but that is at no fault of the restaurant.

Happy eating :)
A ramen bar of contrasting atmospheres - upstairs is light, set up for quick feeds while downstairs is dimly lit and feels like a place to hang out with friends.
We admired the instructions for eating Tsukemen - dipping noodles - as we ordered from the menu on the reverse side. You can choose from 280g or 360g of ramen. The kitchen is upstairs and the dishes travelled downstairs in the dumb waiter and arrived at our tables soon after ordering.
The Curry Tsukemen had a thick and tasty curry sauce though I'm not sure the floating layer of chilli powder on top necessarily added to the dish. The noodles were too firm for my personal liking but other friends liked their ramen this way. The extra egg ordered had a deliciously gooey yolk. For a few minutes there was a lot of slurping and not much conversation. It meant my friends liked their Goma Tsukemen with a soy sesame sauce, Wafu Ramen with a soy and Dashi (seaweed) broth and Miso Ramen.
A cozy space on either level, the downstairs area has a very different vibe from upstairs. Polite and attentive service throughout made the meal pleasant and enjoyable.
Went there near the start of their dinner service, service was great as staff was attentive to needs. Food was great overall. A good array of accompanying drinks. Had the wagu ramen and a side of Gyoza which comes with 7 pieces.
Wagu Ramen: Noodles were good, had a nice bite to them. Soy/Dashi based broth was nice as brought a nice balance between thick and thin styled broths. The complimentary elements that accompanied the dish, the egg, bamboo shoots, nori and pork slice were all delicious in their own right. The pork slice was a highlight as it was a generous slice and tender. I would have, however enjoyed the dish more had it been more hot in temperature.
Gyoza: These were delicious, light on the palette. However same issue with the ramen, the dish was a little bit on the colder side and wished it was more hot.
Overall, enjoyed my experience. Food and vibe were great. Would go again!
Very tasty and refreshing ramen. I ordered the miso ramen. Good service, was not very crowded on the day I went, so the noise level was not high.
Always love the ramen they sells. The soup is always silky n they give a lot extra stuff inside like vegetables, meat and eggs. It’s a pleasant place to have ur meal there
Best tsukemen in Melbourne. Tsukemen is dry ramen that you dip in a sauce. Mugen is a nice place to have a quick lunch with colleagues or friends. The sake clams are a great sharing dish. I would highly recommend the curry tsukemen.
While it may not be the best ramen in Melbourne it does hit the spot for me.
Some good selection of ramen and sides. Will be back to try the rest if ever in the area.
The ramen is always nice and other food on the menu has never disappointed. Good place to come for a good feed and drinks across to Robot bar after :)
Can't beleive I don't knwo about this place before... This is a very hipster and cool looking ramen bar in the cbd. The ramen tastes really good too! Just my kind of ramen in a nice ambience.
Close to a hipster Ramen ....
It has been a while, so I was expecting a great one pre-Tokyo trip.
While my fellow foodie compatriots weren't to impressed with their spicy Tantan-Men ramen and Goma Tsukemen, I was happy with my 7/10 $18.00 Wafu Ramen ... Love the noodle, a little hard, chewy, well cooked, but it didn't leave me that hipster felling.
Their Pinot Noir wasn't that good and flat at 4/10 $11.00/glass.
No change to the venue, still a hipster joint, dark, quaint, basement, attentive and pleasant service, trust their Ramen can be better at $18.00. JT-29/11/2017.
Came here twice, the second time just to try the tsukemen which they are known for (I mean they even have a place mat containing a comic strip on how to eat tsukemen).
For my first visit I had the Wafu Ramen and some gyoza followed by a matcha crème brulee. The shoyu base dashi broth was flavourful and the noodle has some chew to it, the way I prefer it. The chashu was on the leaner side but was still good, however a bit pricey for only a piece of pork. The pork gyoza has some size to it, accompanied by chilli sauce to spice things up. Again it’s not cheap but it’s served on a mini frying pan with larger than average gyoza, maybe worth sharing. Finally the Matcha Crème Brulee comes with a cup of hot green tea which is a good way to end the meal.
Back to the tsukemen, it was the first time trying this method of eating ramen. The noodle served for tsukemen is slightly thicker and the separate bowl of broth provided is also much thicker compared to the ramen in broth that they serve. Once you’ve finished the ramen you can request for dashi to be added to your remaining thick broth to create a bowl of soup to finish off. Compared to the traditional way of eating ramen, this method keeps the noodle texture consistent throughout the whole meal but the noodles will get cold pretty fast so I might prefer tsukemen during the summer days.
Came here with family and we liked the place! The venue offers some unique craft beers and a ramen style I have not eaten before! Very tasty! Though, the chicken ramen was unreal! Packed with flavour!
The place is small so if you can make a booking before hand do so! Also, robot bar is across the road so it’s nice to head over for a drink or two!
Great tsukemen experience! I've been here a couple times and have had a great experience with the ramen each time. Mugen has strong Japanese vibes visually but also with super polite and gentle service. I'd recommend coming early otherwise it'll be hard to get a table (unless it's just a couple of you) but each time I've come by (even on weeknights) it's been busy. The food comes out quickly but I think it's because most of the ramen is already prepared. Out of the tsukemen dishes I've tried I like the curry one the best because it's unique and flavoursome. It's great when you've finished your noodles and they give you dashi to add to the sauce. I do find the quantity not big enough because there's not much ingredients to make you full but it is of quality. The ramen is a bit tougher than other noodles so if you want it softer you'll need to request it. I was disappointed with the pippi's and wouldn't get it again - the flavour of the sauce was nice but the cooking and taste of the pippi's itself/quantity wasn't impressive. I also tried the miso ramen which I preferred over the tsukemen (mostly because there's more variety ingredients and it's more filling). The tsukemen is definitely worth a try though and going to Mugen is a worthwhile experience.
Little Bit Of Everything

Hidden away in the corner on Bligh st is Mugen bar. Always loved going back Mugen. Delicious, Delicate simple food. My favorite is Tantan- Men . I love siting downstairs and watch the Japanese series or movies that's projected on the wall.
I find myself loving Mugen more and more with each visit. The staff are absolutely faultless, with their polite stance and exceptionally attentive service. The japas are unique with their traditional flavours but a modern twist - I particularly love the pip-sake mushi; get your hands dirty with this one and dig in!
The tsukumen is a must try; I am yet to find another ramen bar in Melbourne that serves up tsukumen as delicious as this. After you finish dipping away, the staff will bring hot water to dilute the dip to slurp up as a broth.
Went here on Wednesday night for dinner and the place was full. We didnt know it'd be so busy so we did not make any reservation, hence 30 min wait. The place is quite small so make sure you book first and not suitable for big group. For entree, we ordered the Tsukune and gyoza. Both were really good but If i had to choose only one, i'd go with the gyoza. This place is famous for their Tsukumen. It came with a thick handmade noodle unlike other ramen shop, so def something different. The soup was not too thick or too rich, yet full of flavour. They gave us some dashi stock towards the end to make sure the last spoonfuls of the soup arent too salty. Service was really good, and they were really attentive. Def will come back!
Did a walk-in on Saturday night and the waiting time was 1 hour. We were happy to wait at the bar across from the restaurant. Once our table was ready, we were welcomed by friendly staff and amazed with the atmosphere. Ordered the tsukemen and it was very delicious and tasty. Great portion size and value for money. Highly recommend and will come back! We received a 10% discount at the restaurant since we had drinks from the bar.
My first visit, didn’t realise the queue would be so long! The wait time was almost an hour. After being seated, my partner and I immediately understood it’s popularity! Ordered their famous, “Wafu Tsukemen” sukiyaki - incredibly creamy and so tasty! Highly recommend! Since then, have repeatedly and happily returned to try their other menu items!:)
Stopped by on a Friday night with two friends, the staff very were friendly, helped us with our order and accommodating to our needs. The dipping ramen is my absolute favourite way to eat ramen and I wish I lived closer so I could have it all the time. It’s a tight space but it echos Japan’s ramen scene and feels genuine. Highly recommend!
