This being our second visit to new york minute, their burgers tasty the same- really juicy and amazing. This time we even tried their hazelnut shake, which was again perfect. Would love to visit again
Came here for a late lunch on Friday. Ordered the Hell’s Kitchen Chilli Beef Burger and small serve of chips. Food was delicious. Burger had just the right amount of kick to it. Also love the ice cream station they had in front of the store.
Burger was very good, but the loaded fries with cheese sauce not as good, can be better. would come back again for the burger. Service is also good.
Good variety of burgers here but it can be difficult to tell them apart. We tried a couple of burgers here and the buns were pretty good - soft but not absolutely amazing. The pulled pork was also above average but the different ingredients didn't seem to synergize well with each other, which sounds odd since coleslaw and pork are a pretty typical combo. Beef patties were ok but I think I would prefer Grill'd patties just down the street. Sweet potato fries are nice but as I mentioned in other reviews of sweet potato fries, they taste pretty similar to the frozen ones you can buy yourself. But I'd still order them if I eat here.
Ambience is casual and quite attractive, and staff are friendly.
Overall, if I had to choose between Grill'd and New York Minute I'd probably choose Grill'd unless I wanted something that Grill'd didn't have, but these guys still do decent burgers.
I tried this place on a whim and really enjoyed the eye fillet burger. Tender nicely spiced and cooked steak burger. The bun wasn't great but the ingredients were 5 star.
Dropped in and tried the Wall Street burger and was not disappointed - really solid burger for a reasonable price. Sweet potato chips were also a winner, will visit again.
Order the southern beef burger. Taste definitely amazing, the beef is tender, the bacon itself is nice, the sauce is lovely as well. 😍👌🏻💞
Big fan of the new york burger and sweet potato chips. Came here twice and both times were great. More of a casual maccas like dining place so good for takeaway or a quick bite, but for me the new york burger was on point it's pretty much a free range Big Mac on steroids!
Burgers ain't Burgers ...
Perfectly located for Uni-students (near Uni of Melbourne) demographic; off Lygon St, smartly presented, bright, Black & White American diner theme, young, hip, trendy, modern "New Yorky" burger joint feel, neat and clean too.
Can I get a unique "boutique" burger here?
Plenty on the Menu ......
New York Burger - Top 10 Burger in Melbourne, it was good, great ingredients with big "imported" pickles, however the over zealous spraying of "special sauce" ruined the experience. Over flavouring, killed the taste of those lovely patties and worse it splattered everywhere.
Ex-Patriot Burger - very well presented, tasty Beef patty and Bacon, just nicely "hold" between my fingers and most importantly, it doesn't splattered all over.
As far as being a "unique" and "boutique" burger joint, "with cautious" as this chain or franchise grows, then it will probably become another mini McDonald's chain. Just like the other chain with a "G", which will be a lost to burger lovers in Melbourne.
Pleasant youthful service, well done and thank you girls .... JT-16/07/2017.
Invitingly bright lit ambience with friendly staff members. Burgers are priced to the standard expectations and were decent. Friend received an on the house milkshake for her birthday - winner!
Burgers.. amazing. Service... even better! One of the best chicken schnitzel burgers I've had in a very long time. The staff were so lovely and the food came out lightening quick. The waiter even gave us an extra complimentary sauce and a side of chips which was really lovely. Well worth a try, will 100% be back! :)
The burgers and fries were very tasty. The staff were kind and welcoming. Bathroom facilities were clean and tidy. It seems like it's a great place for a take away, but as an 'eat in' establishment, it definitely stands up. I would definitely recommend a meal here and I will coming back.
Great burgers and friendly staff. Really juicy and sloppy burgers. Recommend try everything off the menu at least once......................
The burgers with two patties are large and the mince used has a good balance of fats and meat. My favourite burger is the New York as it feels like a gourmet Big Mac (it comes with similar ingredients). However, the New Jersey is quite ordinary as a burger. On this last visit, the buns used were fresh however the assembly was poor, the stacking of the items was messy and required a fair bit of readjustment to make it look presentable and hold able. Chips are crunchy and fluffy on the inside.
The vegan burger from here is really good not as healthy as grilld but lots of flavor and is very hearty. I also love the sweet potato fries dipped in chilli chuckney that they use for the burgers. Good as a side sauce! Definitely recommend for vegans. My meat eater friends eat there regularly and they have high standards for burgers! So must be really good!
Friendly staff, burgers are quite amazing and different. Tried their New York signature burger the first time, taste very nice and the sauce were quite natural not like most of the fast food burger joints. Unfortunately it was a little too solid for me to handle.
My friend had their chicken schnitzel which I think it was amazing. Highly recommended 👍
Home of the award winning New York burger. I tried the "Mini" New York. Looked nothing like the advert, but...loved the taste. Welcoming staff. Beef pattie was cooked "medium" and delicious with not too much grease or sauce. Swiss cheese added a positive flavour hit. Home-made special sauce was great and not over done. White bread bun - fresh and soft. Spinach rather than lettuce - big tick! Would I go back? - Yes. You Tube video on "GoJoMedia Geoff"
Very glad this place opened. Offers great taste and great value.
I usually get the New York burger which is frikken massive and delicious but the most recent time I got the NYC Deli Brisket and added a beef patty to it (a staff members recommendation) which was a great decision - so much flavour!
Came here with one of my work friends and (luckily) managed to get a seat before the lunch rush. Loved the American-style decor as you walk in. It was great they had a variety of burgers to choose from (decisions decisions!) Got the Grilled Broadway chicken burger with chips and the sweet chilli mayo was the perfect addition for this burger! If you're ever in Carlton or are a burger aficionado, make a trip here!
Go try this place for traditional New York burgers, you won't be disappointed. Me and my friend were lucky enough to get burgers on half-price. :)
If you're a burger lover, go for the New York Burger (one of the top 10), it's huge and worth trying.
For the vegans, Springtime Veggie Burger is a good option to try. I liked it.
I'm not much of a fan of burgers, but I really liked what I had and would want to try other burgers too. :)
Messy and delicious.
Was invited along by the team at New York Minute to try out their burgers. My favourite was the brisket with an extra meat patty. The sweet potato chips were great as well.

I was very keen to try out New York minute as it was recommended to me by a couple of my friends and guess what?!?! It was OUTSTANDING.
Amazing customer service, greeted by this cutie at the register haha!
As I'm a vegetarian, he was able to cater for me and suggested I try the Springtime Veggie burger with beetroot.....delicious! 10/10 tasted fresh too
Had a really good time at New York Minute and had a grouse meal! Thanks to the staff for making a custom made burger, a delicious Broadway Chicken with their homemade special sauce, onion and of course cream cheese! #newyorkminuteburger
Great job guys..quality stuff!
Great place! Staff were friendly and food arrived quickly! Sweet potato fries were delicious :) will return again! Close to Melbourne uni which is handy for students
With a wide variety of burgers to choose from the burgers are awesome! The staff are very friendly and I have had the pulled pork and the Philly cheese steak burger! Looking forward to the next time I go!
I enjoy a well run business just like I enjoy a good burger. New York Minute certainly gives me a double dose of enjoyment. Already in six location across Melbourne, it's certainly shaping up to be the next rising burger empire.
We come here a lot if we're super hungry before we head over to Yochi.
Staff are always friendly and look after us. Plus I can grab the great burgers while my partner enjoys her chicken salad! Win, win.
I had their Melting Pot Satay Chicken Burger while my friend had their Wall Street Eye-Fillet Burger. For the chicken burger, the satay gravy was rich and the chicken was tender. Moreover, my friend was also satisfied with the eye-fillet burger. The chips were decent, but we had to pay extra for the sauce. However, I felt that the burgers were small as both of us were not totally full.
I've been here quite a few times now, and I think a review is finally due. My experience with this place had been really good, although I haven't had enough burgers in my life to rate it the "best burger in Melbourne".
Out of all the burgers I had, I enjoyed the Mini New York the most. It was flavourful, fairly priced and filling - don't be fooled by the word "mini", they are by no means small whatsoever. The "normal" New York Burger is bloody HUGE - be warned! This place is very consistent with their quality of food, which makes it a good place to visit regularly, for me at the very least.
I ordered a wagyu beef Burger. Taste was great, love it. Ordered a small chips, portion was huge. Was surprise not serve with fork , knife and serviettes when food was presented.
A lot of similarities to Grill'd but in my opinion a bit better. Slightly cheaper and I feel the beef patty is better quality. Nice to have some burger competition on Lygon.
This is one of my favourite burger shops serving an all American affair of burgers, thick shakes and chips. The owner was very friendly, asking us about the meal. Giving us dipping sauce and ensuring we were happy with the experience :)
Will definitely be back again. The brisket burger is next on my list!

Our first time trying this place was a success. The guy at the counter gave a great recommendation with The New Jersey burger when we asked for something cheesy! The meat was perfectly cooked and the chef came out to give us a suggestion to add a mixed mayo, mustard and ketchup sauce, he called it "special sauce". We must admit it was pretty special and delicious! We will be back to try more of a variety! Great staff and atmoshphere! #thosemelbournianfoodies
Had lunch here, got the Brooklyn burger special which was a long sausage coiled, with tomato sauce, onion, mustard and pickle. Both of us liked the chips which were done perfectly, crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. Spent about 32 for two people.
Friendly, but slow service. We dined in. We all Loved the food. Will definitely return. I had the Manhattan Island with chips and homemade sauce.
New York Minute is home to one of Melbourne's top 10 burgers as voted by Matt Preston recently in the Herald Sun. Seeing as Matt Preston seems to know a thing or two about food, I had to give this burger a try. The prized burger is called the 'New York' - two grass fed beef patties, special sauce, Swiss cheese, pickles and spinach ($12.00). Tasting similar to McDonald's Big Mac, this monstrosity of a burger was actually quite delicious and full of flavour. The meat patties were juicy, the salad crisp, the sauce tangy and the bun was fresh and fluffy.
This was my first visit to New York Minute with a few friends from uni. It's near Grill'd and Threshermans which we would frequent a lot. I ordered a Wagyu Beef burger and it was great. Definitely a great place to grab a bite, and will definitely be competition for Grill'd.
Seriously the best burger I've ever had. The ex-Patriot beef burger was amazing and usually the best burgers fall apart but it was so good it even stayed together.
The beer battered chips are divine! We tried the Wagu Burger and New York Burger - they were delicious. We were well fed for the price. The staff are lovely - the manager was keen to make us happy! The staff show their pride in the establishment.
Pleasantly surprised by the sheer height of the New York Burger - tasty mix of ingredients too. Fries were excellent; crispy exterior with a tender, fluffy interior.
Food was delicious and the service was great, the shop itself has a really nice vibe to it, Couldn't fault them.
Service: 4.5 / 5
Food: 5 / 5
Price: $
Room size: Small
I have come a couple of times to New York Minute because the burgers are just that good! The sauces they use and the beef tastes really delicious and full of flavour! I would say that it's worth the price because the burgers are quite big! The chips are also really yummy!! Just a little tip though - make sure you use the paper that they wrap the burgers in, because it can get really messy! :)
When the shop recently opened, I was served by a really sweet girl who provided excellent customer service. Although she accidentally got the burger names wrong, she was genuinely apologetic and still very friendly.
Overall, I think I have found my favourite burger store in Melbourne :)
Great burgers, reasonable prices. Just around the corner from Melbourne Uni! Had a Chilli Beef Burger and was not disappointed by the taste. For $11, it's pretty good value, although I would say that the New York Burger for $12 and two patties may be a better value choice. I tried both and preferred the Chilli Beef Burger in terms of taste. Large chips shared with a mate was a good idea too!
It really is make you feels like you are at a country American restaurant. Though it is not your grand restaurant for date night, it's Black and White interior and friendly staff is far superior to any other food chain restaurant. Regarding food, they really make good burger, even though there is nothing particularly special about it you really can't in point and say this is bad. So I will stop at stating, they make good burgers. Ahh also free drinks with it.
Great burger joint, got the spring time veggie. It was really good, nice and hot when it was served. The fries are really nice too, super crunchy. I liked how there was the option to get a side of fried compared to a small or medium fries on the side.. definitely fills you up. The service was good too, friendly staff and the burger came out quick too.. Would recommend!!
Great food with very short waiting time made this a satisfying experience while trying to find food on the run. The sweet potato fries were wonderful and I would highly recommend everyone give them a try.
The sauce that is used inside the burgers is a little bit runny and that's why this review does not get five stars. If you're not careful you may have sauce running down into your lap as you unwrap the burger!
They claim it is the top 10 burgers in the Melbourne and it is quite good. The staffs are nice and very helpful. The burger is juicy, the fries is crispy, and the place is cozy.
A burger and chips works out to be a great feed! New York Minute has a great range of burgers and the fries are awesome. Short wait times on food. Definitely worth a stop to satisfy that burger craving :)
A really great hamburger!! I've tried burgers in so many places. Fergburger example in Queenstown. But this was really very good! Very clean place, friendly staff. One of the best burgers in the city!
