What's better on a sunny weekend than spending an afternoon or night at a rooftop bar, and Melbourne has some amazing ones. The Rooftop Bar at the top if Curtin House is great. Seven floors up (great exercise if you want some exercise) is a fun little oasis in the heart of the city. With several different zones, a great bar and a burger van; this is a fab venue.
It gets really busy but service is still really efficient and I've never had a problem with the staff, who are generally quite friendly. I love the relaxed atmosphere and great music; and have enjoyed quite a few drinks here and will continue to do so in the future.
Is there anything better than spending a day eating burgers, drinking beer and sitting in the sunshine listening to music? Nope. Pretty much the perfect day. Also... the burgers are delicious!
Went there for a date and the ambience was so amazing that we both ended up having a lot of fun. Even the food was pretty good. The music is awesome too, which really gets you into a good groove.

Came here because of its reputation among locals, and left feeling incredibly satisfied! What was impressive was their extensive cocktail menu — we ordered a ‘Sandy Peach’ which tasted sort of like a mojito but less ‘citrusy’/fizzy and more on the smooth side, which was pleasant.
Bartenders were friendly, patrons were chill, overall a great location to come with your friends for some drinks after a long busy weekend. Will definitely visit again, cheers 🥂
Good ambience. Perfect place to enjoy melbourne especially after sunset surrounded by lights and good beverages, what can you ask for more? Except the long line in the weekend small limited access for the elevator that seems essential because using stairs for 6 levels of building is sometimes too much. But overall this is a good place to hang up and a good concept for people that wish to enjoy watching movies outdoor.

Went to this place last night with a few friends. The rooftop view is sensational and would be awesome during the summer. The place was a bit busy, but the lines for the bar was quite reasonable. Had a nice feeling with the music and the setting. It was cold, so the heaters had a good feeling of warmth. Defs a place to have a few drinks with your mates. Recommend it on a day/night where it isn’t cold and wet. Hahaha
The views are spectacular and gives you a different look out point from each corner of the bar.
The classic burger was spot on and its been long since i saw such a wide range of ale’s on tap.
Would definitely recommend rooftop for a drink after work or a lazy weekend.

Top spot. Spent the afternoon on the rooftop watching the FA-18’s over the Grand Prix. Great drinks, great atmosphere. Perfect place during good weather gentle breeze and friendly staff. Will be back again.
I have a soft spot for Rooftop Bar as I have had some great memories here, but my bias aside, this is a great place to hang out. Grab a cocktail and enjoy those amazing city views. I have yet to come visit when the rooftop transforms into an outdoor cinema, but watching a movie surrounded by the city lights sounds right up my alley
Really cool outdoor bar that do pretty good burgers. It gets packed really quick so it may be hard finding a seat but its such a great concept and one of the most interesting places to relax with friends for sure
One of my favourite bars in Melbourne. You might lose your breath getting up there, but it’s oh so worth it! The views are lovely, you feel on top of the city (and you are!). You can grab a bit, or a beer or any other drink you want. One of the biggest highlights is when the bar turns into a rooftop cinema. Book your tickets in advance because they can sell out. In my opinion, it’s one of those must-do Melbourne experiences!
First time visiting their newly renovated space. It was hectic that day mainly because it was nearing Christmas and everyone was catching up. Not us, we had work and that meant no alcohol! Would have killed for a beer right then and there as it can get quite hot up there, ideal temperature is around the 25 degree mark during the day or on summer nights. Instead settled for a lemon lime and bitters, could have done with more bitters. Regardless I still love this place, boasts some of the best views of the CBD and is located next to the Rooftop Burger Shack.
Came here for a drink around lunch time the other day. Great rooftop bar in the middle of the city with a brilliant atmosphere. I ordered a jalapeño soda. Never even heard of this before but was told they made the soda syrup in house. Was a pleasant surprise. I love jalapeños. On a hot day this was a very refreshing drink with a nice kick to it. Would definitely recommend as a place to go for a drink anytime of the day.

Amazing rooftop bar. Worth the trip even when the escalator is not working. Prices are fair. View is stunning! Had two pints of white rabbit. Still one of my favorite Australian dark ales.
Came here with a few buddies on a Saturday night, the rooftop was under maintainess and we stayed indoor(level 6). A bar and a restaurant. There were movies playing on the screen more like a decoration. We shared a jug of margarita and cups of beers, awesome drinks. Service was good. A little bit noisy but totally acceptable as a bar.
All day burger all day Is all I can say. It's quite a simple thing, but it's just the way it's packaged with the foil n all, scrumptious.
Overall a good hip vibe. I got Sunburnt here once, remember kids slip slap, slop for real.

Great drinks, and the All Day Burger is fantastic, alongside the thin fries. Great view of the surrounding CBD, and a must-see for visitors looking for a uniquely Melbourne gig. 6 floors of climbing will get you there; the elevator is slow and only takes 6 at a time - if you're not able to climb, be ready for a wait in peak times.
It's well worth the cardio up the stairs to reach this roof top bar. I've been here a number of times and I love it. It's chilled out and when the sun is out - boom- perfect! Great views and a great crowd.
Cool CBD Rooftop spot - I like the vibe up here. It's unpretentious and chilled out. There's not much too it, a turf, seating and 2 different bars but you don't need enough up here. I shared 2 jugs of Sangria up here on a glorious Summers day which went into the night and had a good time. I'll definitely be back. I think they should play more movies on maybe a lunchtime session?
Good during summer when its not freezing cold up on the rooftop. Went and saw Star Wars Rogue One at the Rooftop Cinema, good thing I booked tickets in advance. Hard to find a good seat though I kinda wished it was allocated seating once you buy a ticket. Burger wasn't that memorable but ok. Sangria didn't have enough juice so was basically wine and soda water. Best thing is the view and how secluded it is. Didn't even realise there was a Rooftop Bar in this dilapidated building and I walk past it every day! Chill atmosphere to take friends or to try a new cinema experience.
Came here with some mates after a day of hitting the books. There isn't much variety in the food except a few burgers and a bar with some beers so don't come expecting a restaurant or an award winning wine list.
I ordered an all day burger and there was nothing wrong with it. It's your normal juicy patty with some vegetables, cheese sauce and toasted buns. It wasn't mind blowing but it was more than edible, this bit isn't the selling point though.
The important part of this place is that it's a "Rooftop Bar" and true to its name, it's a bar....On a rooftop. This means good views of Melbourne and coupled with some music gives an awesome atmosphere to chill with friends. I haven't watched a movie here but that's irrelevant in the review.

If you have a phobia of elevators like me, then the long stair walk to the bar is certainly worth the views and atmosphere. Drinks and burgers are somewhat overpriced but you could say they have established a monopoly on lazy people such as myself who cannot be bothered walking back down and up again.
Great views and relaxing atmosphere, a must visit when it's warm and the sun is out. The bar fills up quite quickly so I'd recommend getting a spot early, the trek up 6 flights of stairs feels extremely rewarding once you're able to sit down up on the roof. The burger bar and the food is also fantastic however during the busier times it may take a while for the food to be prepped as the kitchen is quite small.
Definitely recommended if you have a small group of friends and want to spend some time with drinks in a bustling and chill rooftop bar.
We have no shortage of great rooftop bars in Melbourne and this is one of the classics. Some months they run the rooftop cinema showing great classic and cult films from the comfort of a deck chair. Summer is the best time to be here when the whole bar is at capacity and full to the brim with people enjoying the sun. There is still plenty of people here during winter but be prepared to huddle up around some gas heaters or bring a nice warm jacket. This bar is completely open to the elements!
Also it's a good idea to get here early in the evening because the place gets really busy and it's no fun trudging up all those stairs to the bar only to be turned away. If your around this area you should also check out the toff and cookie located just a few floors below in the same building!

Me and my boyfriend love this place! However staff here are the worst - disinterested in serving! Also security guards should really stop being so full of themselves. I do however love the atmosphere. Burgers are nice too
We came here on a rainy day so tables were limited but the food was totally worth it. Simple but amazing burgers with a great atmosphere and music to match.
Love the atmosphere of the place, drinks are reasonably priced too! It's located in a pretty old building and so you'll most probably have to walk up (so many comfortable shoes when thinking about coming here haha). There is only outdoor sitting so it can get pretty chilly. Unfortunately there wasn't any movie screening during my visit.

I loooooveeee the vegetarian burger so much, IT DOESN'T EVEN TASTE VEGETARIAN! tastes like meat 👌 I love how it's not greasy so I feel absolutely no guilt at all 😁😁 im kinda sad that they're under new management (I think) so my veg burger has changed BUT STILL TASTES SO GOOD NONETHELESS! FYI it's a brown rice patty. Although I haven't tried any other burger here, my friends have and absolutely love it too! The countless number of times I've been here 😂😅 HAHAHAAHAHAA and the cocktail is so pretty!!

It's official I love this place for the veggie burgers and fries. This place has one of the best burgers I've had in Melbourne. It's simply and not greasy. The view is great, and the heaters are a bonus for the colder nights.
The drinks are more on the pricey side if you're contemplated coming here for a long night. It's a good place to take a friend, have a chat, and enjoy the view. I will be back.
Nice view to see part CBD, but the movie only be provided in summer~lots of people here, we didn't find a chair available and seat on the floor, but also good to have a drink and get a night view…BTW, drink here is not expensive, so it's a good choice for who want enjoy a view bar and pay with a nice price~😊
Best views in Melbourne! For a very different movie experience it's highly recommended. Very weather dependent and can get cold sometimes so pack something warm.
Situated at the top of curtain house, rooftop bar has some great views of Melbourne... But the stairs to get up there aren't easy (there's a lift, dw)! Drinks are fairly stock standard, usually kind of pricey but they do have good special offers. Staff are generally good. Nice rooftop cinema experience in summer also :)
I love coming here in summer to watch a movie. The view on the city is awesome, the atmosphere is really cool and relaxed, the cocktails are simple but good (I usually have the Margherita and it's really good). They also do good burgers. If you are coming to watch a movie here I recommend arriving earlier to have a drink & watch the sunset, and if you're hungry, have a burger. You can also have drinks while you watch the film. The bar remains open after the film and usually a big crowd of people who didn't have tickets for the movie come up as soon as it's over. If you've had enough of being on the rooftop, there are a few bars (most serve food also) on a few different floors in the same building! They all have a cool atmosphere.

One of the best places to chill out in the city. You'll need a drink by the time you make it up the long walk up the stairs, even more so if you catch the terrifying lift. The view and atmosphere are definitely worth it. Great vibes and great drinks. You'll want to grab some fries or a burger whilst you're there too. It definitely gets busy so you're not guaranteed a table but if you mill around you're bound to find one eventually.

Great place to catch up with friends or somewhere to relax & chill! Perfect for late nights when your feet are sore or you want a lovely view of the night sky :) However, be wary that seating can be hard to get. Bartenders are welcoming & drinks are worth!

Sometimes you don't have to go down a dark lane to find a great bar. Try and time your visit when the sun is out (sometimes a bit tricky in Melbourne) and enjoy one of the best views.
I think this is one of the must-go bar in Melbourne CBD just because the atmosphere is good and the view is cool. Very crowded on Friday and in weekend though, we never able to get a seat. I remembered the gas of all heaters went out on a sunday night during winter. We were frozen...
Excellent spot for after dinner drinks with a great view of the city. The crown of the menu: jimmybuttons. De-Li-Ci-Ous! When you want to have an flavorburst party in your mouth, go ask for jimmybuttons at the bar.
The view and the Jimmybuttons are enough of a reason to come here. Potato wedges are also ace choice with sour cream and sweet chili sauce. But seriously, you will not regret the Jimmybuttons.
We were in the mood for burgers and it was a surprisingly nice day where the sun was actually shining. We all ordered the Burger on Special ($10) which had a beef patty, double cheese, onion rings, lettuce, mayo and BBQ sauce. I requested a slice of tomato in mine which they happily agreed to with no extra charge, score! The burger was quite a mouthful but it was oh so good. The onion rings had a nice crispy coating and the sauces married well with each other.
Awesome venue with great atmosphere and fantastic views. Somehow the climb makes it all the more fun! Love this place and will return time and time again with friends! Love to stop off at toff on the way down :)
I love going to this place for early night drinks. It's always very busy but the staff manage to get through drink orders quickly and efficiently and you never have to wait for too long. There is always a great ambience, and the music (although sometimes loud depending on where you're sitting) is always very good. On top of this the burgers are one of the best I've tasted in Melbourne.

This bar is perfect for a summers day. They serve the nicest burgers I reckon I've ever had in my life from the burger shack out back and of course cold beers. Soak all this in with a great view of the city, would defiantly be making this place a regular venue.

Some pints of beer and cider were ordered and it was quickly served in plastic pint glasses. The lady behind the bar had attitude, but the good kind of an attitude that you would expect in a trendy yet relaxed setting. Hipsters languished at the various tables and I overheard one speaking about bogans that have deviant sex lives whilst rolling cigarettes. They seemed harmless enough. Portable heaters adorned the area and I happily took up a perch next to one and as the minutes turned into hours I found myself getting closer and closer to the warming device.

Rooftop Bar is on the top level of Curtin House, which also houses Toff in Town, Cookie, and other interesting delights. During the summer months, there's the Rooftop Cinema, where the astroturf is covered with rows of deck chairs, and films are projected five nights a week. When we went, however, it was for burgers and beer, served courtesy of Beatbox Kitchen at Rooftop.
Unfortunately, I went at night - and although the view was nice, I would have liked to view the city from here during the day. As I've mentioned before, this is what I've thought about most of the rooftop bars here. I'm not quite sure what my drink was called - but it was the really fruity cocktail, which was a bit sweet, but also a good mix of flavors. The service was great! Even with the number of people, they took time for a short chat and seemed to enjoy recommending the best drink for their customers. My only complaint was...
Great feed. Everything was fresh and cooked to perfection. Juicy n tender. Fries were crisp and fresh just like they should be. Home style mayo is delicious, definitely recommend the All-day burger.

If you like bars with beautiful views it's definitely the place for you. The rooftop is actually quite high up so you feel as though you are part of the city skyline. Definitely try to come on a sunny day!

Beautiful place with great vibes, music and staff. I’ve been there for arvo drink which was amazing. I enjoy jog drink as well as beer on tap. Not a big look out when you sit, however, you get plenty of sunshine 🌞. Finally, burgers are not that good but, Sweet-potato chips are amazing.

After being hard to find (we only noticed it after being at another rooftop bar across the road, and the lift to access the venture was tucked away next to a takeaway shop) we were sure glad we did. We were seated quickly and being a hot day they had the mist turned on, which was delightful. The roof opened up to create a nice atmosphere too.
Staff were friendly, service was quick, cocktails were delicious. Definitely a place to visit if you’re in the area

This is a really neat open-air place above the city with visibility in nearly every direction (as far as the other buildings will allow). Ticked all the boxes for an odd, chill place to hang out.
It can get pretty cold though! Only the area around/near the bar had heaters so bring a coat for night outings!
Decent rooftop bar. Get your building management to fix the lifts however! Climbing 7 stories after a big night is a deterrence to potential customers. I’ve climbed Mt Kilimanjaro and that was easier than these stairs after a big night!
