I have eaten Pho all around Melbourne, but this is by far the best.

Must try Thier special spicy beef noodle soup. It's a pho style soup but with more spice and flavour. The perfect meal on a cold night.

Had the Brisket Pho + Vegetarian Spring rolls and both were awesome. The customer service was fantastic, as the owner stopped by to make chat and check that everything was all to our liking.

The service is wonderful and efficient. The food is absolutely delicious, I strongly recommend the pho as I enjoyed the soup down to the last drop. It has become my weekly routine to always come back to the store to have their pho. The price is also reasonable for their portion. Would highly recommend.

We eat here a few times a month usually on a Sunday and the food is delicious. The serves are large and the wait times for food are within 10 mins which is handy. The owner is lovely and the kids contribute to the atmosphere in a positive way. The young son has been trained up to take orders in a timely manner and is poised to take over the family business once the moment arrives. Cash only payments which could potentially be losing a few customers. Parking is hit and miss but you get that being located on a main road. Would definitely recommend as overall the service and price are wonderful.

I go here 2 or 3 times a week for a large chicken and rare beef pho. Totally hooked. Broth is amazing and not too sweet like I have found other places to be. . Really healthy large serve and super quick service. Lovely family that run the place. I could eat there every day. Haven't really tried much else as the pho is too good.
This place run by a Vietnamese couple with cute kids, and serves delicious pho always.
Downside is the portion, parking, cash only and customer service.

When I first worked in South Melbourne I was obsessed with Wat Da Pho. As a result I ended up missing sampling more family, low key joints like Pho A Go Go. I’m glad I ventured over this time, because the pho is so much more proper and it’s an overall better experience. Plus unlike the other place, it’s still around!
Good pho. Probably the best in South Melbourne (There's not much competition). Nice service too. Could do with more sauce choice. Perhaps a chilli oil? Will definitely visit again.

This place is a local gem in Southbank. Just a little concern about the ambience of the shop but I think it can be ignored the moment the dishes came through. Oh man.. that pho made me miss so many things. It is an emotional dish. That sounded weird but believe me, when you are eating it you just can’t help it. Love this place and will come again.
PS: Kids are cute and responsible at all times. Kudos to them.

Phở A Gogo is a small family-run outlet (indeed, the children regularly help at the front of house). On outward appearances alone, it is nothing remarkable. It looks like a fairly run-of-the-mill suburban restaurant with no glitz or pretension, and the service is without frills. But these aspects are part of its charm. And the quality of the food is first class.
The owners stick to a core range of classic Vietnamese dishes and do them exceedingly well. This is not an idle assessment. Having eaten my fair share of Vietnamese cuisine over the decades, I can tell the difference between what is lacklustre and what is good. The food here falls firmly into the latter category. Notably, the phở and the bún bò Huế are fragrant, flavoursome and generously portioned. In quality and value, Phở A Gogo is right up there with the best places in Footscray, Springvale and Richmond.
The only shame is that it does not attract more diners (at least on the weeknight evenings when I have gone there). A place this good deserves to have a bustling trade. Perhaps the Southbank crowd are more interested in the upmarket offerings along the Yarra. Whatever the reasons, they are missing out.
Best beef pho in South Melbourne...and we’ve tried them all. Homemade, quality broth. And definitely try the Bun Bo Hue if you feel like something a little spicier! Family run, really sweet owners.
A local Vietnamese eatry ran by a family. I have tried everything on the menu and can recommend if u want something close to authentic flavours.

If you want traditional yet modern Vietnamese food then this place is for you! Good menu selection for both veg and non veg. Friendly staff specially that very young kid of the owners he was helping his parents, very cute.

The Dear Luncher used to buy records at the now defunct Melbourne institution called Au Go Go. Back in those days you could probably only get pho in Footscray or Springvale. Now, thankfully you can get it anywhere. The name Pho-A-Gogo is what drew Your Dear Luncher to this place as it reminded him of those days of visiting Au Go Go. But enough about stupid reminiscing. Let’s talk about the food. Thinking that the Bun (aka Vermicelli salad) might not be enough, The Dear Luncher pondered a rice paper roll as well. Only pork, veggie and prawn rice paper rolls available. None of these were appealing. Upon asking if chicken was available, the proprietor said “we can make chicken”. Good flexibility. So The Dear Luncher ordered that and the grilled beef Bun. Moments later the rice paper rolls appeared. You read that correctly, rolls. There were three of them; still warm from the chicken that was cooked specifically to create these bad boys. The Dear Luncher was struck right then and there with the realisation that he had over ordered. Fear not, plenty of room in these guts. These rice paper rolls were tremendous. Fresh and flavoursome. Not long after disappearing these rolls, the Bun salad arrived. Pretty as a picture, so pictures were of course taken. As well as the beef, three spring rolls were part of this ensemble. After mixing all the contents with the dressing provided, The Dear Luncher began chowing down. This was a superb exponent of the vermicelli salad ladies and gents. This place may not look like much but it certainly serves up some very nice Vietnamese fare. The Dear Luncher will be back.
Came from Sydney one year for a weekend away, now I make it a tradition to come back every year for the great service and impeccable phò ! Would definitely recommend this place 👍🏼
I would strongly recommend for anyone to try this restaurant. We go back week after week and have never been disappointed. Fantastic Pho (perfect every time). Delicious spring rolls and best of all, great service.

The food is hearty and yummy. Fresh produce and generous serves.

It was an absolute heart warming experience. We found this restaurant by accident. Our regular Pho restaurant in South Melbourne was closed today as it was Anzac Day. We drove passed this one and thought we will give it a try (didn't want to drive all the way to Richmond).
We were greeted by the lady owner who sat us down. We noticed there were two young children playing Lego in the corner. As the restaurant got busier, the 8 year boy (Raymond - who we later discovered was the owner's son), got up and greeted the guests as they walked in. He sat the guests down and brought them the menu, drinking glasses and a bottle of water. It absolutely warmed my heart.
Our food arrived and I have to say, it is one of the best Pho's we have tasted in recent years. The soup base is flavorsome without being too salty. Noodles were cooked to perfection and there were generous serve of sliced rare beef and chicken (ordered the large serve).
When we paid, I got to chat to Raymond (young boy) and my daughter took interest in his Lego. He invited my daughter to play with him and his sister which made me smile.
When we left the restaurant, Raymond opened the door for us and said "thank you".
It absolutely made our night. My wife and I witnessed something really beautiful. How an Asian family come to Australia and open an restaurant cooking their home family food for us. The fact the young son is helping his parents was wonderful. We saw family unity and love. We will definitely go back again as the Pho is great and our daughter will get to play Lego with Raymond and his sister :)
The best little family owned Vietnamese restaurant! Their cute little children help with the menus and water. The food is always really good and the service is personal and consistent. We've come back quite a few times and am pleased!
The pho (Vietnamese soup) keeps getting better here. The flavour is really good. I recommend the sliced chicken pho.

This is our favourite pho place in the area as it's spacious and not crowded, perfect for our kids. They have a high chair and the 8yo hardworking friendly waitstaff make it an extra bonus for our kids.

Fresh and clean tasting pho. Beef is tender. You can tell that time, care and a lot of effort has been put into the preparation of the food. My new favourite pho restaurant in Melbourne. And that's saying something because I'm from Springvale!
Almost the best Pho in Melbourne. Personally feel it's better than Pho Dzung. The beef is tender and fresh, tripe is perfectly cooked. We will come back more often.
This a great family run business serving authentic Vietnamese food. The pho is fragrant and fresh and has never disappointed! If you're visiting on the weekend or for dinner on the weekend, be prepared to be greeted by the family's young son.
The owners have recently have had to switch to a cash only model, which is disappointing but understandable. If you're a local or in the Southbank/South Melbourne area - definitely give this little shop a shot.

Easily the best value and quality Pho this side of Footscray. Duke (Duc) and his Wife run this lovely place which has become a regular haunt. Duke makes a beautiful, rich, clear beef stock without a trace of fat - my favourite is the Beef Pho with Rare Beef. Consistent food, fast service and lovely people - what more could you want?
We stumbled across this place after needing a break from the South Melb markets. It has an authentic feel as soon as you walk in, and we were greeted by the family's very well-trained (and too cute!) bilingual 8yo son Raymond.
He sat us down, gave us table water and some menus, and shouted out to his mum & dad that guests had arrived (we'd got there just after open). The mum is extremely sweet, and helped explain why it's best to order rare beef as opposed to cooked beef in a hot Pho.
Flavours were insanely good - we asked for extra chilli/hot, and for once, it actually lived up to that. Had a few tears on the eye, that's for sure. Spring rolls in iceberg lettuce and fish sauce were beautiful aswell. Great little family, well done guys, we'll be back for sure - this rivals the Pho in Footscray as far as we're concerned!
Ps. We slipped the young man $5 on the way out, go and buy yourself some treats!
We are regulars here. Its a great hidden gem which is family owned and the little boy Raymond is the cutest. Apart from the homey setting, I found their pho much better than places around and certainly a really good price for what you get as well. My usual is no.16 and they have the best chill ever bcoz they grow their own!! Highly recommended!!!
It was the rainy night, we decided to come back A GOGO for the Pho. I am a big fan of PHO, i have tried many places until gave A Gogo a go. I would say that the soup is fantastic. Its very delicious and i highly recommend for this place. Also, the owner is very kind and friendly, then its no surprise that service is always satisfied.
I have walked up and down Clarendon from Southbank through South Melbourne dozens of times in the last two years and every time I walk by 4-5 Phò spots. I've always wanted to try them all and today, after dropping tax documents at H&R Block, I said to myself, "Today's a great day for some Phó!" I'm not a Phò expert by any means, but I do know I love it! When you can get a small bowl for about $10 and a large for $12, it's hard to beat on a cold Melbourne afternoon. I went with the thin cut raw beef and it was real good. I like adding a little drizzle of the sweet plum(?) and spicy Sriracha(?) sauces. I also prefer to place all the basil stem in the broth so it perfumes the soup as opposed to ripping off the leaves and putting them in. No complaints, I could return every day of the week, but the problem is, I have much more Phò to taste along this street.
Today i visited this place for the second time ever. It was overall a much better experience than my first visit. They improved the interior which was nice, considering last time the restaurant was quite a run-down place. I had a pork vermicelli and i found that they also served a much more generous portion than before. It tasted good too. It is almost a shame that South Melbourne has quite a number of Vietnamese restaurants within walking distance to each other and unfortunately this restaurant's competitors are serving slightly better food for a lower price per serve. Oh and the little waiter is doing a much better job than the owner which was way too gloomy. Cheer up man!
I had the lemongrass and chilli prawn and it was delicious. All very fresh and flavourful, much like you get in Vietnam. I will definitely be going back.
Fast service. Lemon Grass beef and chicken satay have very clean flavours. Pho is also excellent. Second time now and will be back again for dinner.

This is my new fav local Viet restaurant in the CBD. Anytime I want to experience authentic healthy Vietnamese cuisine it never disappoints. The Pho is on point with the right flavours and not stingy on the condiments! My top pick is the Beef Pho with Brisket only! Give it a try :)
Very nice pho. Reasonable depth of flavour, nice strong chillies - everything you'd expect from an authentic non-chain. Quick service. A bit of a pain they don't split bills, but at least they do credit card. Will come back.
After walking in with a friend on a Sunday night, we were promptly attended to by owners son, was was ridiculously adorable and efficient. Once seated we decided on rice paper rolls and pho. Both were delicious! Interior is very simple, nothing flashy but it was cool to not dine at a flashy place for once. Great experience, will return!
I think it is safe to say that it is difficult to find a fairly priced, authentic, tasty vietnamese cuisine in Melbourne outside the suburbs of Springvale, Footscray and Richmond. Hence we were very excited to come across this new humble vietnamese restaurant in South Melbourne. The decor is clean and tidy, not excessive. The menu is not extensive but the flavours were authentic. We had the beef and chicken pho, prawn spring rolls and the vietnamese vermicelli bowl with grilled pork. The dishes were well portioned, well presented, and very tasty. Last but not least, the service. As per all previous reviews, not only is the food good, Raymond, the 7 year old son of the owner is a superb waiter, not only is he attentive, he is also chatty and entertaining (not in an intrusive way). Without a doubt, I will be a frequent visitor to this new find!
This is the place to go if you want to experience authentic Vietnamese. It is by far the most delicious and authentic Vietnamese restaurant in all of South Melbourne. We had the pho and the bon bo hue (spicy beef noodle soup) which were both very tasty and had a lovely broth that is light, lots of flavour and not oily. The dishes use traditional Vietnamese meat loaf and meat cuts. The restaurant is family run with excellent, friendly service. At the end of our meal, their little 7 year old son came to our table and gave us each a plum from their tree at home! The decor is no frills, but as with all authentic Vietnamese restaurants, the focus is on the food. I highly recommend and will definitely be returning.
Decided to try this restaurant out with friends on Australia Day as most other restaurants were closed. I had the vermicelli with pork and spring rolls and it was delicious! Very authentic Vietnamese food and lots of flavour and very tasty. My friends and I were very impressed as it's quite difficult to find an authentic Vietnamese restaurant outside of Victoria street in Richmond. It is run by a very friendly Vietnamese family and they are so lovely and helpful. The restaurant is quite humble looking but the tables and cutlery are clean and that's all you need! Food came quickly and it was nice, hot and tasty - would definitely recommend anyone looking for authentic tasty Vietnamese to try this local gem out! Will definitely be back to try out the other dishes!
Decided on Pho A Gogo on a Saturday early afternoon. A very enthusiastic and helpful young waiter was on hand. Had the beef and chicken pho which had lots of flavour. The lean beef strips were very thinly sliced. Overall a very good meal for a very budget-friendly price.
Very friendly owner, had the time to come and talk to us about our trip from Sydney and the food.
We found the food to be very tasty and had a home style cooking to it.
The owner had explained that his phó was more northern style minus the MSG. We find it quite a clean broth and would recommend people to try it as it’s different to what we had in Sydney.

We stopped for a late lunch and enjoyed a delicious Rare Beef soup.
Sate' sauce with the beef was home made and nice and spicy.
The hot Vietnamese coffee was delicious too.

Visiting from Japan, needed my fix of Vietnamese food, particularly Pho! This place was perfect. Flavor of the soup was just right and I didn’t even have to add any hoisin sauce. The owner was really chatty and friendly as well. I’m definitely coming back.

The quirks are that you have to ring the doorbell, and show your vaccine certificate before you enter and when you order, you pay straight away.
The Hue Style Phó was a good size had a good balance of spice and flavour.
Ordered the Vietnamese hot coffee, prawn spring rolls and their amazing beef pho.
The prawn spring rolls are really big, not dry at all and fresh tasting. The coffee was bold, strong and flavourful, while the pho was tasty and amazingly well balanced.
Have been to this place a couple of times and the flavour has stayed consistent. Highly recommended and will be back.
