Yum... what an amazing find in amongst a bunch of pretty shops in Carlton North. The perfect spot for a coffee and cake, A Treat of France is just that; a beautiful little cafe serving up amazing French pastries and cakes.
A quaint and cosy cafe with bistro tables and chairs and a lovely atmosphere; we felt very welcome and at home here. The staff were really nice and service was quick even though it was reasonably busy.
Our coffees were fantastic and I loved the cute little cups they were served in. With so many beautiful treats on display, we opted for a sour cherry danish and it was amazing. The flaky pastry was delicious, and the cherries were lovely and tasty. The creme pat was also fabulous.
I'm so glad to have found this little gem, and am eager to return to sample more of their French inspired delicacies.
Been coming here for the authentic feel and yummy pastries. Best reasonable price pastries. It's just unbeatable !! We always go back to this cafe for the croissants !!
Quaint little cafe around the Carlton and Fitzroy areas. Their chai latte is decent, spinach tarts are great on the go. Cronuts and cheesecake pair well with the coffee. Prices are the most reasonable for cafe's along that stretch of Nicholson St.
A treat of France is exactly that, freshly baked
pastries, breads etc . Everything is so good, we tried the spinach slice, beef rosemary and mushroom pie and toasted scrambled egg and mushroom baguette add 3 very good coffees.
Staff are friendly and prices are very reasonable.
A Treat of France. It is!
The pastries are nothing short of magnificent. Great coffee and fast friendly service.
The breads are really really good and once you've had a few you will find yourself coming back time and time again.
Best croissants and pastries in Melbourne. All homemade in store, which is so impressive. Such reasonable pricing and super friendly staff! Will definitely be back.
Amazing cakes at fantastic prices. Highlights definitely are the round individual chocolate layer cake & the French vanilla slice. I eat a lot of cake and have tried lots of cakes around Melbourne and they are the best!
Best eclair I always stop by to grub some and go missing as soon as I take home. The soft moisture of choux and beautiful tasty cream with quality chocolate cannot easily beatable. This is my recovery medine from the past shocking tastings. This bright me up everything wonderful. I also bought lemon meringue tarts, chocolate mud cake and cheese cake today. They are all very rich texiture and good to eat once in a while who has sweet tooth:-)
The egg or bocconcini baguettes and almond croissants are regular weekend favourites for me.
Service is friendly if a bit rushed. Quality food every time.
Beautiful beef and rosemary pie, delicious traditional croissant. Perfectly frothed coffee. Will be returning. (Extra characters to fill 140 limit)
Best pain au chocolat in Melbourne, just like the real french one! Crunchy, buttery and fresh!
The apple tart is to die for and the Coffee is very good!
This place is amazing, great pastry and coffee, everything is freshly made!!
amazing and friendly staff!!!!!
Best place eva.
This cute little cafe has excellent value, delicious food and a mouthwatering variety of baguettes and pastries. The bread is divine
A + everything!
Oh my goodness!!!!! What have I done, I'm never going to be able drive past again without being drawn in! The coffee was just coffee and service was long but the pastries; drooooolll....
Almond croissant = crunchy, crumbly (as in not claggy) almond meal. And the most Amazing thing I've ever eaten - the custard filled doughnut; do I need to say anything more than it melted in my mouth and I wish I'd bought 20 more (if a heart attack and my waist line didn't exist)
We go here for our bread and they have the best croissants and pain au chocolat light and crunchy, buttery delights, just like being in France
Best chocolate croissant in Melbourne
Best custard donut i have ever had in my whole life !. Absolutely devine custard and great quantity of custard inside!! The dough is pppeeeerrrffffect! Literally the best custard donut i have ever had in my whole life and great value too!!!
Comme a la maison! Feels like home.. My friend and I just passed by randomly the cafe on city road in South Bank, as i was wondering if the place was new we decided to drop by and have a treat. It felt like home, the pastries don't only look fresh and delicious, they are!
I highly recommend the place.May this place become one of the french highlight of Melbourne.
Great family rib business H.... Great family rib business
Homemade and fresh goods, baker gets there crack of dawn each day! Lovely cakes and croissants
Had a lovely long mac and macarons at their new place on city road in Southbank. Super place and Sammy and Rose are awesome :)
Pastries to die for. This is the place I come to indulge myself! Beautifully made pastries and good coffee. The custard filled donuts are probably the best to be had in Melbourne. They have a great array of cakes too.
Really impressed!. Amazing food made fresh, daily, really relaxed and friendly atmosphere, great coffee and good service and you can't forget the delicious Spinach slices that are beautiful! Definately recommended.
We are so lucky to have this as our local, it is a sensational bakery! Very authentic french breads, pastries and quiches, the staff can be a little distant at times but the quality of the food makes up for it. Highly recommend!
So damn good! How can you go past the olive loaf, almond croissant or the amazing macaroons? Never had a bad experience. The staff are great too, so friendly and they always remember your coffee (which is always really creamy and perfect temperature). A gem!!
A real treat.. What is there left to say about this place. I am always surprised that I can get a table. Luv the staff, luv the food, price is very reasonable, one of the few places who make good tea, cups and pots are always clean. The owner (Sonny) always has time for a chat and loves feedback. I travel across melbourne to come here. The sourdough rye loaf is just the thing on a cold winters day with a hot bowl of soup. I am slowly working my way through the cake range.
We stopped in here because the baked goods in the window had been tempting our tastebuds all day. The staff were closing down for the evening so things were quiet and the hustle n' bustle of the morning had disappeared. The service was great and they had nice friendly staff. Decor is paris themed, very quaint, high ceilings, a mixture of traditional french grandeur with melbournesque modernism. We ordered a chocolate mud cake, tiramisu cake, iced coffee and mocha. Coffees were delish and the cakes were exquisite. I wish had room for more, I'll definitely be back to try the yummy looking danish! :)
Yum! Would go back in a heartbeat. Excellent service and great coffee!!
I adore this place. I get my coffee and treats there most days. The staff are just lovely and it is family owned and operated. It's not a hipster joint, which is great because it means you get really nice, happy service and DEVINE pastries and breads
Beautiful. This is honestly the best cafe I have ever been to hands down! It's a small cosy French cafe with the best pastries and bread I have ever tasted, they also range in a numerous amount of tarts which are simply amazing, everything there is made fresh on the premises by the friendly baker/owner. I absolutely love this place and cannot get enough of it!
Lovely, friendly owners. Surprisingly good coffee, great pastries, bread etc and fantastic cheese and tomato toasted sandwiches. Very down to earth - like it a lot.
Great cafe and bakery. Very nice people. The olive baguettes are to die for. As is the lemon tart.
Sweet Local. Frenchy has been my local for a while now. Familar staff, good coffee and quiet enough to have a conversation over an Almond Croissant. I would indulge every day if my hips could accommodate it.
The food here is really good. Not busy. A nice place to just relax and enjoy really flavorsome food. Well worth the visit
Pauline Campbell. I love this place - I have never been disappointed with any of the food or coffee or bread that I have bought! The pastry chef makes divine quiches - so creamy, and the pastry is always just right. I have never experienced any rudeness, in fact everyone working there is pleasant and helpful. No, I am not related to them in any way!!
My favorite bakery in Melbourne by a mile. The bread is amazing, the pastries to die for and the staff are all lovely.
Service was really friendly and relaxed, and without any hesitation I can say this is one of the best coffees you'll find in Melbourne.
Tasty. Fantastic little place! the pastries & bread are excellent (cherry danish and olive loaf faves, DELICIOUS ) and the baguettes and salads are great for lunch. awseome coffee too. yumYum !
A meat pie to judge all meat pies by. Pastry the best I've ever tasted and the filling, perfect. Thank you for raising the standard of patisserie in Melbourne just that bit higher.
Awesome, get my weekly baguette fix here. There in the opening weeks and have kept going back. Freshest baguettes this side of town
Great egg rolls coffee should be improved
Delicious pastries and cakes. Definitely one of the top places in Melbourne to get authentic French pastries and baguettes.
They do delicious pain au chocolat, pain aux raisins and their cakes are amazing.
All is made on site by the friendly owner and baker.
A great local treat.
