3.5 Got heaps of food here - Tandoori platter to share, chaat platter to share, tikki chaat, papri chaat, samosa chaat, garlic naan and gulab jamun. Food is ok, a bit too oily on the naan. The gulab jamun was nice. Was craving for it.
5 stars I have been on a mission to try as many Pani Puri as I can ever since I learnt about it and this is the best Pani Puri I have tried so far! ❤ All the food was delicious. lt was also nice and spicy which I love!
Great butter chicken curry. Delicious creamy
flavour with just the right amount of spice. It was really fresh too. Only downfall was the service was lacking a little..
Awesome Authentic Indian food. Highly recommended if you are Looking to dine in in Melbourne CBD> Very close place to Crown and Walking distance to South bank and major attraction.
You're missing India? Missing the street food? Look No More! The great hunt stops here. We had paani Puri which I have even craving for. Amazing spice level in the paani (Water) and amazing aloo Rikki chaat loaded with onions and amazing sauces.
Also ordered for jeera rice which eventually became horrible when we ate because if the delivery mess up. But it's not restaurant's fault. Their Goat curry was exceptional with the right amount of spices and plenty of pieces to eat.
Would love to recommend this one
Nice Indian cuisine in heart of Melbourne CBD. Chicken biryani was awesome and found just walking distance to crown casino. Highly recommended.
I have only been inside this restaurant once as we usually just order for delivery. We found the staff to be a little unfriendly and it was odd that the waitress was wearing a tracksuit on a Friday night.
Having said that, we do really like their food. We usually share butter chicken and lamb korma with lots of naan and rice. The butter chicken is a good balance of sweet and salty. The lamb korma has chunky pieces of tender lamb and a mild flavour.
Reasonable prices given the serving sizes are quite large.
Had a single pack takeaway for supper. Lamb curry, rice, naan, samosa, papadums a can of coke and some sauce, only for $17.9 value for money!
The curry taste very good and creamy. Naan and papadums are nice too. Samosa is crispy
Great service, waitress with nice smile
Would definitely recommend.
Fantastic food and service. We will definitely be back soon.
We ordered samosas and onion bhaji for starters and the vegetable korma for main with a garlic naan. Everything was delicious.
Highly recommend.
We originally came to this place wanted to eat at another Indian establishment that was in the same premise. We didn't realize it's a different Indian restaurant. Anyhow we are pleasantly surprised with the quality of the curries. The butter curry was creamy, sweet with that hint of spiciness. The chicken vindaloo also tasted great. The cheese in the naan is generous and the garlic makes it fragrant too. Too bad the price is a little expensive for the portion you're getting.
surprisingly yumny food which i did not expect. love all the dishes. definitely come back, strongly recommend.
the waitress is so cute, friendly and helpful for us who do not know a lot about Indian food.
Nice food, unbelievable delicious. it’s really appreciate for the service and food. Highly recommended. We ordered 4 entries. And 4 main courses. All nice.
I Feel it serves one of the best Cheese Naan in Melbourne. Quality ambience and Service!
Satisfying Experience. Offers discounts as well.
Thanks!
Stopped in for lunch, had a delicious thali ($12.90 with your choice of curry), and masala chai which came just as I ordered. Lovely service and great price.
last week , i visited spicy affair bar and restaurant in South Melbourne with my friend and it was the best indian food i ever had . We were warmly welcomed by very friendly staff We order the peanut masala and tandoori chicken for entree And for mains we order chicken biryani and kadhai paneer with cheesy garlic naan . Chicken biryani was awesom , chicken pieces were tender, full of flavour with spices . I was surprised when i saw that they have fresh meetha paan and that was so good Ended up with dessert gulab jamun and ras malai . Highly recommend this place to all
Very friendly staff! Beautiful food! Highly recommend!:)
Nice ambience!
Try the seekh kebab and panner! They are to die for!
Thy also run specials!
Nice food and perfect staff! Highly recommend!
Nice location, good environment! Staff can recommend nice dishes for you, and you will also enjoy their recommendations. It's not too spicy or light, everything just what you want.
I visit often and always good food & service, good range of options for vegetarians and they have always been happy to alter dishes to suit my taste.
I highly recommend this restaurant. Staff is very nice and friendly, food is fabulous. This is one of the very few good Indian restaurants in Melbourne.
I really liked the pana puri here, it's a little bit spicy and it was super yummy. The spinach paneer curry was a bit too sweet for my liking, the spices need to be a bit more balanced I think.
The food is amazing and the staff are very friendly. Definitely recommended. I bought a Groupon voucher and the restaurant happened to be closed on the day of my booking due to unforeseen reasons. The owner was so kind and generous that she offered me and a friend "on the house" 3- course meal with unlimited Naans and wine. Thanks a lot owner Rani and Spicy affair staff. Hope to visit again.

Our team of about 25 person had lunch here. We ordered butter chicken, lamb korma, palak paneer, tandoori chicken, saffron rice and plain naan to share. The food are very nice and service is good. We will definitely visit again.
These guys are great, it is an understated restaurant with a nice and modest vibe and decor. we were greeting by such a lovely and friendly front of house lady, the wine was cheap but not the usual not so great wines you tend to get at some Indian restaurants. The food was GREAT, the hot curry was actually hot and the lamb was tender and melt in your mouth. Great service and a lovely night out. Definitely recommend the if you are in the area!!
Very nice food.good service. Close to home ..Will definitely come back :) The curry lamb was nice and tender...hubby enjoyed butter chicken. Garlic naan was my favourite
Went to Spicy Affair with my girlfriend after being recommended by a friend. The food was very authentic and also very affordable. The Keema Naan was incredible. My girlfriend ordered the butter chicken and said it was the best one she'd had. The wine was also very tasty! Will definitely be back!
Went there for dinner and enjoyed everything. Food was great, generous portions started with Samosas and Chicken tikka for starter and ordered Butter Chicken and Lamb Madras for main served with Rice and delicious Garlic Bread, ended with sweet gulab jamun. Happy with the food but the best part was friendly welcoming service. Will definitely go back.
Incredible food and service. I would recommend the peanut masala salad. On point 👌 food was very falvoursome without being overpowering. Will be back here again.
Very good vegetarian curry (Malai Kofta) and also tasty lamb. Delivery was really fast and the guy was nice. Will definitely order again or come to dine in :).
Me and a friend had dinner last night using groupon voucher. We had 2 shared entrees, Chicken Tikka and Onion Bhaji. Love the chicken but not so for the onion bhaji. We ordered lamb vindaloo and tawa paneer, both were really good. The voucher also includes 2 glasses of wine, bowl of rice, papadam and unlimited naan 😉 close the feast with a super sweet but nice of gulab jamun. We're happy with the service as well. Top knotch!
I have returned to Spicy Affair for lunch twice since my first time three weeks ago. Yesterday I had their Vegetable Curry which was excellent, wonderful flavours ~ it came with two Naan, there is Plain and Butter Naan(flaky), I'm not sure which they served me as standard ~ it is good. I think I had the Butter Nan once which was very inviting. I ordered medium heat which is relatively hot. On another day I tried the lady Chef's Lamb Vindaloo which I ordered with medium heat, but as a chilli lover it was too hot for me. Next time I'll try the Rogan Josh Curry. No point ordering Roti, the Naan is sufficient. The serves are relatively small but filling. An Indian couple at another table ordered a platter of some sort and the Vegetable Curry like me and that sufficed them; they gave a tip, as did I. Each table is provided with a crystal clear jug of iced water.
I tried almost all the dishes and all are fab.. no words to express.. whenever i am upset their food brings smile to me and moreover i love the presentation of their dishes..
The food of this restaurant is very nice, tasty. specially gulab jamun and panner tika briyani its lovely. The service is very good, staff is very friendly.
thanx
The food is awesome. Naan is really fresh and curries have a nice thick sauce. Staff are very friendly. We come to this place probably twice a month.
Hands down the BEST Indian food I've eaten in Melbourne. This is confident, self-assured cooking, boldly spiced and unapologetically authentic. You can choose your heat level, and if you order the spiciest option, it is properly hot. I've ordered three times now, and it's been fantastic each time. Every dish tastes unique. Top class curry.
Last week I visited this place. Biryani was awesome and impressed with the service..great food and reasonable price..food taste yummy.. my favorite restaurant..👍👍
I have tried a few different places in Melbourne searching for a decent Indian....well this place is it! we are regular visitors now and never have we ever left with a complaint or dissatisfied.
Coming from a city back in the U.K. that has a world famous curry mile I'm usually very underwhelmed with the quality of Indian dishes in Melbourne but the food at Spicy Affair is amazing, so amazing that this is now the only Indian I go to! The staff are always very friendly and welcoming. I would definitely recommend Spicy Affair!
This was our local place in south Melbourne and we enjoy it that much that we now travel from across melbourne after moving as we have not been able to find another Indian so good.
Food is very tasty and authentic, the naan breads are the absolute best we have ever had ( we are from the U.K. So we've had some pretty amazing Indian food) every time we go we are greeted with a really pleasant waiter and consistently good food,
Cosy atmosphere and it's never jam packed full which is really good, have read previous reviews and completed shocked surely it can't be the same place or management has changed
Will be going back, in fact this is the only place in Melbourne I will be going for a good Indian :)
Biryani was awesome and impressed with the service! I'll be visiting frequently for Boneless Biryani with aromatic spices. Great stuff fellas!
I visited this restaurant . Food was very tasty and authentic, naan breads were very fresh and absolute best. Biryani was awesome and very impressed with the service . Must come back . Best indian restaurant in south Melbourne.@
We loved it back for the second night I a row great food nice atmosphere and very reasonably priced staff are very friendly and make good recommendations
The rogan josh is amazing as is the breads
Went to this little Indian restaurant in Clarendon St, South Melbourne tonight not expecting too much but boy was I in for a shock!
We ordered chicken tikka & onion bhaji's as an entree and they were HUGE!!! (& absolutely delicious too I might add)
We also had a couple of curries, rice & naan bread which was so fresh & crusty. Best Indian food I've had in a very long time.
My friend finished up with gulab jamun which he assured me was THE BEST! (I couldn't fit in another thing!)
The restaurant was very quiet which surprised me for such a fantastic meal & lovely service from the staff - including the chef who came out to see how we liked our meal.
I'll definitely be back soon. This place is a great little find. Highly recommended!
Great food and reasonable price...food tastes yummy...my favourite restaurant..,friendly staff..will try to come there as soon as possible...chef knows that how to cook great Indian food
Been there twice now. Fantastic food and perfect service. Surely a come back place.
Great chefs and Friendly front of house staff. Convenient location.
Best service in busy time and taste was completely authentic. No match. All best to chef and team. Definitely come back. Keep up good work. And good taste matter.
I have been here a handful of times and have enjoyed my experience every time. The food is good, the staff are friendly, the prices were fair. What's not to like?
Been here many times now for dining in, also for take away. Lovely food all the time, polite and friendly staff, great customer service. Definitely coming back again and again to try further dishes.
Come in for the thali lunch special and I always end up taking something else home for dinner. The goat curry is exceptional and am looking forward to giving the malai kofta a try. Best Indian food I've found this side of the city.
Food was delicious, ambience is great, reasonably price menu, staff is polite and friendly. Great customer service! The tandoori platter is a must try.
By far the best Indian takeaway in South Melbourne and reasonably priced. Chicken Korma was yummy and lamb madras has a nice level of spice.
Had dinner with my partner and little one... awsome food and quality service.. one of the best restaurants in melbourne...... highly recommended...
Craving to have butter chicken made me to land to this place over a weekend. We decided to take away. The place is cozy, comfortable with great ambience. The service was quick as well. Staff was too friendly. The chicken was prepared and packed nicely within 20minutes. Believe me the butter chicken is yummy. Will visit the place again.
This is THE BEST place I've been in Melbourne. The food is absolutely amazing, It's cozy and with the most authentic Indian flavor. I'm super fuzzy with my favorite dishes but the owner always makes sure everything is perfect and the way I asked for. Btw, she is the sweetest girl ever! If you ever come to this side of the city, don't think about it twice... You will never get dissapointed :)
It was a wonderful treat with delicious food and good service. i had been here once and planning to go again as I had bought the deal and would like to go regularly.
I went to this restaurant with a voucher of three course- entry, main and dessert. Everything was at the standard I expected from a good Indian restaurant. What I loved about the meals was firstly less oily and also generous compared with other restaurants I had been before.
The entry was two platter of chatt and tikkahs, it was so delicious; tender, full of flavour and less oily. The same was for mains as we had four different curries; rogan joosh, sag chicken, butter chicken and chicken mashala as well as rice and butter nan.
We enjoyed our meals and we were satisfied, and it was worth the money we paid.
Highly recommend this place
Delicious food and friendly service. Came here on a Groupon and we left we huge food baby bellies. Butter chicken was mouthwatering and all other dishes were also of very high standard. Will reccommend this place and come again. Just a shame they don't have a liquor licence! Must BYO next time.
Excellent, we have been looking for this Indian restaurant for so long, food is to die for and so full of flavour, we will be back, thanks for a great meal
What can I say - a really awesome restaurant! Went here as a group of 7 (using vouchers too), and had an amazing experience.
Ordered many plates of butter chicken, some lamb rogan josh, madras lamb, chicken kadhai, chicken tawa, naan and rice. The food was fresh (the naans are to die for, they're soft, fluffy and made on the spot. Best naans I've had), the service was fast and friendly.
Our waitress always served us with a smile and brought the food out promptly.
We finished with a gulab jamun each, a perfect end to an awesome lunch.
Highly recommended, you won't be disappointed.
Well done Spicy Affair!

My parents favourite new place to take people out to! They've been here 3 times in the last month and they finally took me and my girlfriend out - the food was Great! So tasty! And you can really taste that its freshly cooked (no bain maries here) service was friendly and always with a smile! Highly recommend!
Excellent service and great food! I was very impressed. Nahid did a fantastic job of managing everyone that was in the restaurant, by herself. She was always there when you needed her and was friendly and helpful. Nothing got missed. I was so pleased with the chef Rani as well, and would like to say 'thank you'. My Nan is allergic to ginger, so Rani made her a special curry even though we went there using a Groupon voucher. The restaurant was very busy and they didn't have to, but Rani told us not to worry, she would make a dish just for us. Thank you so much for taking the time to care and for providing such brilliant service. Also, the food was delicious! My Nan says it's some of the best curry she's had. And it was great value. Thanks again! Would definitely recommend!
Ronni pours her heart and soul into making your experience at her restaurant special. It's been a long time since I dare venture into an Indian, mostly because you don't see many menus incorporating a Keema Naan. My first visit won't be my last. Tandoori to share, madras lamb, saffron rice and those Keema Naan, mighty fine eating and good value.
Have seen good and bad feedbacks here and decided to give it a try as we had a company meeting in a nearby place. Have to say we(two of us) have been treated well using the voucher. We were attended timely, menu was given and order was also taken smoothly. We ordered four curries including one vegie(egg plant) and all are greatly delicious. People might find the service is probably not first-class as it seems the waitress is relatively new, but it is not affecting the overall dining experience. Good work and thanks!
We dined on a scoopon voucher tonight and were pleasantly surprised.the smell when we walked in was divine and no sooner were we seated or poppadums were delivered our order was taken quickly and we choose the tandoori entree platter followed by numerous different curries plenty of naan bread and rice. Service was friendly and overall could not fault the place. Maybe check seasoning of your dishes as some were a little flat which simply could have been lifted with a pinch of salt. Still a good 8 out of 10 ☺
Well this was an excellent find. We dined on a voucher so the price was exceptional, but the food did not disappoint. We had the Tandoori entree which was excellent followed by Chicken Tikka Marsala and Chicken Vindaloo with plain rice and plain Nann. All of it was exceptional. The service was prompt and all staff courteous. Situated on Clarendon Street with plenty of parking in the area.
If I had any complaints it was the $5 per head corkage. I would have thought $5 would have been enough, but that certainly did not take away from the meal.
Will go again voucher or not.
Great aroma as we entered the restaurant, although the room looked a bit clinical maybe? It looked much better as the restaurant filled with patrons. Awesome naan bread and a really nice butter chicken. Good service.
Bought a scoopon for this place and unlike the other reviews was quite good. not fussy on if we finished all the gravy in the curry and speed of food was quick.
Finally a bloody good curry in Melbourne. Highly recommended!!
I never write a review for anywhere, but honestly it would be wrong to not say something, the BEST CURRY I have ever had and I have had my fair share of authentic curries. the chef is a master of her craft and the world must know. I was worried when the waiter said it was all good but honestly it was god sent <3
One of the best places I have been too, authentic stunning curry, went with my partner to have dinner, it was quite and nice, the food was the crowning gem, and the chef is by far the best cook ever.
Thank you for the amazing food we will be back for more.
Ordered a Dal vege curry and the tikki masala curry with rice and garlic nann definitely recommended this place to anyone wanting amazing beautiful food.
Was craving Indian food for lunch and found this lovely little place on Clarendon St. The portions were generous, though I wish there was more mango lassi. I ordered a butter chicken, rice, garlic naan and a mango lassi. It came to $28. A bit pricey but pretty much everything in South Melbourne is a bit pricey. Good food though.

A lovely little gem with a very varied menu, from spicy hot to very mild. Great service very helpful suggesting and explaining different dishes. A bit of loud noise coming from the kitchen, and the speakers playing music that sounds from a TV channel with commercial breaks and all - really has that feeling about India! With very safe deco and comfortable enough too.
My boss, recomend this place to me. The food was good, full of flavour and they are halal certified. Definitely will be back.
