This place has been on my Must-Visit list for a long time and I finally got a chance to visit! Conveniently located inside Emporium :) Had warm Matcha Koicha Latte which was incredibly soothing - very strong matcha flavour that isn't too sweet nor bitter. Highly recommend
Recommended by a friend.. amazing experience! One of the best dessert/ice cream places in Melbourne. Tastes authentic and service was good, too. We’d come here everyday if possible. Love it!
Real matcha flavour... recommend.
Love the matcha ice cream here, very strong authentic flavour and was very refreshing to eat on a very hot day.
Love the idea of being able to choose the ´matcha-ness’ of your ice cream without losing the creaminess of the milk
Have I ever mentioned how much I hated matcha. This was until my friend showed me kyo tea house and my mind was changed instantly. The iced green tea latte is absolutely on point. Slightly sweet and not too bitter. I love it!! Can’t wait to try more treats from here.
Went to try this place however was closing up for the night so ordered the matcha ice cream on a matcha cone, was so good, will need to come back when they’re open but can tell their place knows how to use their matcha
My friend brought me to this store cause is her favourite macha place.
Green tea or matcha lovers will totally love this cafe because it totally all green tea and matcha. From teas, lattes, cake, smoothies and ice cream.
We opted strong matcha latte and hojicha latte for drinks. Also, matcha tart and small matcha cake. Definitely enjoyed it!
Nice place to hangout with your friends while sipping on delicious matcha and houji-cha floats, latte or frozen drinks 🍵😍
The go for an absolute matcha fix!
We would usually visit Kyoteahouse for a quick matcha softserve or a float. Love how they have different levels of matcha and the yuzu sorbet is really nice. Makes it the perfect shopping companion
Best authentic Japanese tea house in Melbourne CBD of my choice. Almost come here every weekend. Everything is worth to try. Always has new desserts in house. Never disappointing.
Delicious green tea ice cream here and they have varying strengths for the matcha which is perfect for me as I find most places make it too sweet. I’ve tried the float but I do prefer just the simple scope of green tea ice cream.
I went to Kyo Teahouse today and had a hojicha softserve in the middle of winter (eating ice cream during Winter is probably one of my pastimes). Absolutely loved it. Wasn't too sweet, which was a plus for me, and faithful to the roasted tea flavour. Tasted perfect with the cone (I had it in a black cone - not sure if it was flavoured). Will definitely come back for more tea flavoured ice cream.
Kyo Tea House had somehow not made it onto our list of places to visit in Melbourne previously, but Melbourne has such a range of good eateries that our list always extends much further than our actual available time there can accommodate anyway. We had visited the more recently opened Calia on a previous trip, but had not known that Kyo Tea House existed in such close proximity, just a few floors away in the Emporium.
A good dessert place. I love matcha. Got a small tub of strong matcha ice cream. Me and my girlfriend devoured it in the food court because they don’t let you eat it in the store.
The gelato was more popular but I always prefer soft-serve and yeap! I made the right choice! It tasted really good 😋
tried the premium extra stong matcha ice cream with 8 level intensity👍🏻 for me who rlly addicted to matcha it was beyond good and the sugar and matcha was really well balanced i rlly can feel the authenticity of the matcha✨ will be back for this again💚
This place has all your matcha cravings ! A lot of it is paired with red bean tho so beware if you don’t like red bean . My fave are the cakes , the crepe cake and the tiramisu!!!
I got the twirl sundae with additional add-on gateau topping.
It’s had so many surprises that was out of the world. Everyone who loves green tea needs to try it !!
Definitely on the more expensive side when it comes to ice cream. Single scoop is reasonable at $5, but any more and the price doesn't go low enough to warrant a second scoop.
My favourite flavours are yuzu sorbet and milk. Ironically, not the tea flavours! I do go here a fair bit as I find the milk gelato very refreshing and not too creamy, and definitely tastes like milk.
The matcha here is really authentic and super strong which I love! The lattes, ice-creams, soft serves and desserts that I’ve tried have all been great and remind me of Japan. I particularly love the different strengths you can choose between for your green tea ice-cream. The black sesame ice-cream is also delicious. Highly recommend going out of your way to pop by this cute spot, even if you’re not near the Emporium.
Kyo Teahouse was a Japanese tea and dessert cafe. Their tea selections reminded me of those at Tsujiri; flavourful, aromatic black and green teas. Their desserts revolved around matcha; matcha parfait, matcha cakes, matcha ice creams - all of which I had tried and very much enjoyed. The cafe was nice and cosy, with great service to top it off.
Mmmm met my matcha with this matcha trifle. Layers upon layers of asian delights. You start with soft serve with flavours of matcha & rice bran; red bean paste hits you next; welcome aboard the rice flour balls; crunchy texture with the corn flakes; whipped cream to bring you back to reality then cleanse your palette with green tea jelly. Mmmm.
4.5
Yummy japanese dessert parlour.
Located in Emporium, the place is pretty nice with woody interior. There are seats jnsude and some outside, though at peak times its bit hard to find one. The staffs were pretty friendly. It's more of a self service with the tissues and cutleries.
I've had heir Houjicha&Matcha Swirl soft serve few times. It was really generous in a cone, but not so in a cup. Nonetheless I love that it's flavourful without being too sweet. Waffle cone was also crunchy and yums! (you can choose from original, matcha or charcoal). Matcha is bit bitter, and houjicha bit sweet so I like them together.
Their houjicha soy latte was sublime. I could really taste the houjicha and the drink was smooth and not too sweet.
Overall a great place foe some Japanese tea dessert fix!
( follow for more!✨)

Located in emporium's basement foodcourt, Kyo Teahouse is a great snack while walking around the shops.
Ordered:
🍵 Cold Matcha Latte (regular sized): $5.30
Review:
Kyo Teahouse uses the more traditional Japanese matcha powder - which means the cold matcha latte comes off a little bitter. Yet somehow, it is still incredibly addictive.
If I had to compare Kyo Teahouse to my all time favourite place, Little Rogue, then Little Rogue narrowly wins. Little Rogue's cold matcha latte is a little more sweeter but Kyo's cold matcha makes for an excellent alternative if I'm not planning to be near melbourne central but still need a Matcha fix.
This is an awesome place for matcha lover.
I tried their matcha tiramisu and yuzu cheese cake. The cheese cake was just ok. I think it's because I'm not a big fan of cheese cake anyway and since I was in a matcha shop, I was hoping for more INTENSE matcha flavour desserts. Fortunately, the matcha tiramisu delivered just that. It was light in texture but full of matcha flavour, really satisfied my craving for matcha. I'll definitely go back and order the tiramisu again and try other desserts/drinks as well.
The BEST green tea ice cream you can get in Melbourne. I always order a scoop of the extra strong (premium) matcha ice cream. For many this may be too bitter and strong (my mum, who hasn't had proper matcha for a while, got a shock when she took her first bite) but for me it's perfect, not too sweet like so many ice creams are. On my next visit I'd be interested in trying some of their drinks or the matcha tiramisu I've seen in the display cabinet. The black sesame ice cream caught my attention as something to try as well!
The place is a little secluded in emporium’s ground floor but it’s worth my energy lost my way to get there. Love the matcha and all dessert in the menu looks very tempting. I am sure gonna back to this place and try all in the menu
5 stars for this matcha house. Huge range of matcha ice cream and desserts. Matcha flavour is strong, hence the price. Limited seating but most customers seem happy to walk away with a cone. I tried a medium strength matcha cone and a parfait. Both were great quality and delicious.
As you know I do like my matcha and this place didn’t disappoint.
The service was lovely, very Japanese.
I tried a soft serve of matcha and houjicha swirl which was absolutely delicious. The combination was perfect.
I’m definitely going back and this is one place that you’ve got to visit if you in the city!
As a die-hard matcha fan, Kyo Teahouse has been high on my “need to visit” wishlist since moving to Melbourne over a year ago. Finally finding the courage to brave the crowd one desperately hot 39 degree day, I found my oasis here.
There was a line upon arrival, but luckily it wasn’t too long. Despite there being only two staff on, they handled the never-ending wave of customers well and orders came out quickly.
My partner and I ordered a matcha-hojicha twist sundae and a passionfruit matcha iced tea. The icecream in the sundae was delicious, and the various toppings such as the red bean, cornflakes and mochi complemented the flavours well. The iced tea was also perfect for the heat; fruity, cooling and refreshing.
Can’t wait to pop by to try more from their menu whenever I’m in town!
Ice cream is really yum. Especially they’ve got different level of matcha strong level for the ice cream. Best matcha ice cream I have ever had.
Honestly love the matcha sundaes, this is definitely a stand out matcha joint for me because finally the matcha flavour is almost perfect for me, it isn’t overbearingly sweet or doesn’t leave a bad after taste. I can’t wait to try their other menu items
Great Japanese flavors. They have varying intensities of green tea desserts - my all time favorite flavor. Also try their drinks. High quality and generous servings. Staff are highly efficient and super customer focused. Feels like you are in Japan.
The best go-to place for amazing quality matcha and all other food items of a similar kind and nature. I thoroughly enjoy the quality and taste of their matcha and it is always consistent. I’ve tried their matcha latte, ice cream, matcha float and their dessert platter and all were a treat to eat/drink. Highly recommend this place to anyone.
Intense Matcha Gelato : 😍 Amazing
Peach Smoothie : 😁 Great
Popped in to get a quick sweet fix and it did just that. Loved the intense matcha gelato. For me it was the perfect intensity but they have four different levels to choose from if you’re not wanting something crazy to start off with. The matcha peach smoothie was very refreshing and I liked the addition of the matcha syrup. It was definitely something different that I haven’t had before.
Second stop after landing, afternoon tea at 3.45pm after lunch at 3pm. We made a beeline for Kyo Tea House, the Japanese tea and dessert bar with a cult like following, all for good reason - Matcha. Situated at the base level of the Emporium, it definitely attracted a crowd at peak afternoon tea time. Thankfully our bellies were reasonably full so no one was injured.
Lovely service. Really like the fact that you can choose the strength of the matcha! I got matcha and black sesame and the flavours were quite rich and sweet.
Loved the atmosphere and friendly staff! Tried 2 scoops of their premium matcha ice cream and it was sublime, will definitely be coming back
I really cannot fault this place or find any flaws even if I try.
Ordered:
Swirl sundae $9.3
Review:
I’ve been here multiple times and fell in live with their many tea flavoured drinks and desserts. My favourite would have to be the sundae! It has so many textures and flavour combinations in one cup. With the red bean, mochi, cereal etc, all of these give great structure and character to the dessert, it’s almost like a flavour bomb on one cup. Love the intensity of matcha and houjicha, the tea flavour isn’t there for the title but actually gives you a punch of flavour and as results the slight bitterness remains which is what I really like.
Service is amazing and if you’re looking for something a little cheaper here because it can get expensive try their soft serves!!
If you're on board the matcha train, you'll love this dessert place. Full of Japanese dessert flavours such as red bean, matcha, hojicha - which are the three that we tried, this place does not disappoint. Perfect little getaway for a hot summer's day when you're in need of refuge.
Matcha madness
If you love matcha then this place is a must visit, from matcha frappe to cakes this place has all your matcha needs ... If you are not a fan they have other roasted tea flavours as well .... Get your sweet tooth ready !!!
Literally the best matcha place in melb. My choice is always strong matcha latte, half syrup. Trust me! Try this, no regret
ヽ(*^ω^*)ノ 抹茶ラテ🍵 matcha latte
make best Houji cha latte in Melbourne. It tastes not very sweet and mixed with the smell of houji tea. Kyo tea house’s ice cream is the best in the cbd if u like not so sweet taste ice cream. Strong matcha, houji cha, and black sesame are highly recommended.
Eat. Sleep. Create. Repeat.

Not a fan of Matcha maybe because that I haven’t tried any impressive Matcha product before.
Surprisingly this maybe the best hot Matcha Latte I’ve ever had so far. Found the perfect balance between the best part of the Matcha and the warm milk (considering it might become more difficult when making warm Matcha?)
We came here after lunch, a nice place to escape from the busy city and shopping.
Real rating 4.7 ⭐️
For those out there who are looking for a Japanese dessert cafe, Kyo Teahouse is the place for you! Though a little pricey, it is definitely worth the hole in your wallet! 😜
My favorite was the kyo sweet plate, croissant with matcha ice cream, and matcha and black sesame ice cream! Actually all of them were my favorites! The sweets and ice cream were so smooth and clean, it was scarily delicious! As a sweet tooth, I always welcome pastries and ice cream and this did not disappoint!
The best part about the ice cream was that you could choose which level of matcha you wanted to cater for everyone’s taste! 💚
Would love to go back there again soon to try their other specialties!
I am not usually a fan of green tea but Kyo Teahouse has made me see the light!
It was super busy on a Saturday afternoon but the Japanese-style service remained warm, friendly and helpful.
We ordered 3 items off their innovative menu:
1. Houji-cha float
2. Matcha and houji-cha swirl sundae
3. Soft serve matcha and houji-cha swirl
The high quality, soothing taste of the green tea came through loud and clear.
The sundae was served with azuki beans and shiratama dango (Japanese sweet dumpling) but the combination was not overly sweet so it almost felt guilt free.......almost.
Highly recommended place!
My favourite place for great tea dessert so far. The icecream and latte always come with strong tea Flavour and They are generous in portion. My only complaint is about the red bean and little sticky rice ball - they are sometimes too hard to chew- but not every time
It was so good, especially the black sesame! I ordered black sesame, red bean and matcha (intensity = 5). All flavours were just awesome! I like the black sesame the most!
Kyo Teahouse is no doubt one of my favourite, and also people’s favourite dessert place in Melbourne! There is always a line in front. I have come back so many times, I even have the black sesame ice cream tub in stock at home at all time. Their matcha and black sesame ice cream are so heavenly, but I forgot to take pictures of them.
Swirl Sundae
Price: $8.5
Taste: 🌝🌝🌝🌜
I really liked the matcha soft serve, the houji-cha was ok, too. I love that they put red bean in the sundae. Matcha and red bean is a match made in heaven. I really enjoy the different flavours and textures of the sundae. However, I didn’t really like the bottom part of the sundae, it is too bitter for my liking, but still was an enjoyable dessert.
Matcha Tiramisu
Price: $8
Taste: 🌝🌝🌝🌝
I love the combination of matcha sponge cake and the cream. The cream was light, definitely not overwhelming. It was sweet, but not too sweet. I wished the sponge cake had a stronger flavour of matcha. But it was a really enjoyable dessert, perfect when you crave for dessert that’s not too much.
Matcha Parfait
Price: $12
Taste: 🌝🌝🌝🌝🌝
This is my favourite one so far! (besides the black sesame ice cream) I really liked the gelato more than the soft serve. It had a strong matcha taste, and red bean, of course was the perfect pairing. There was also cake inside, I think it was matcha gateau, it adds a stronger matcha flavour and a variety of texture. Overall a delicious dessert, and definitely will order this again.
Kyo Teahouse will always be my go-to dessert place. It is a place that I’ll always crave for more. I can finish all their desserts myself! The matcha gelato was also one of the best! You can pick the intensity level. I like my matcha strong! I really recommend getting the black sesame gelato, as it is the best you can find in Melbourne.
Matcha pudding with yuzu cheesecake from Kyo Tea house. Really delicious combo, love it! Their matcha flavour is spot on! The cheesecake flavour isn't too sweet as well.
I like matcha desserts so when I saw this place I knew I had to try it out! There were different level intensities of the matcha ice cream. After trying the different levels I settled for a single scoop of level 5 intensity. It was a good combination of slightly bitter and sweet. The other matcha desserts on the menu look really good too
This is one of my favourite dessert/ beverage shops in Melbourne.. I have tried plenty of drinks here like the Matcha Latte, Frozen Matcha Milk, Matcha Float, Houjicha, Genmaicha.. All of them taste pretty good.. I have always wanted to try their gelato but every time I get there, i cant resist to get myself a matcha drink.. will definitely try to go for the gelato in next visit.. especially the extra strong matcha gelato..

Been here a million times and never disappoints. Probably the best matcha joint in melbourne. This time we ordered the genmaicha ice cream and houjicha float!
Beautiful matcha desserts and always super busy! Their soft serve is lovely and so are their lattes. I really enjoy the strong matcha flavour. I find this place very hard to resist whenever at the Emporium!
Soooooo nice! Recommended the greentea. It is really nice. The sesame is soooooo strong taste! It is nice. The milk ice cream too sweet. Might try another next time.
Had the green tea gelato (extra strong) and my friend had azuki + genmaicha. It tasted so good! Definitely will come bacj to have other flavours!
Been here a few times and tried the matcha soft serve which is delicious but this time round decided to try the black sesame gelato (my all time fave flavour of ice cream) and omg the one here was probably one of my favourite black sesame gelatos I’ve ever tried! It was so nice and creamy with a really strong black sesame flavour just how i like it that I had to do a sneaky visit before heading off to the airport 😂 they also have different strengths of matcha gelato if you’re a matcha lover too. Would highly recommend this place if you're a fan of asian flavours such as matcha and black sesame👌🏿
Kyo Teahouse is a lovely little place situated within emporium. It has a simple, sleek decor that catches your eye from outside.
Both times i’ve visited have been accompanied with impeccable customer service. The staff are super happy to let you try the flavours and are very helpful with picking options!
The first time i visited, i tried the matcha and houjicha soft serve which was super reasonably priced and had an amazing genuine matcha flavour. I also got the matcha tiramisu which had a slightly bitter taste from the powder, however it didn’t bother me at all. From this experience, I can safely say that it was the best matcha ice cream i’ve ever had and proceeded to buy a box of matcha ice cream to take home!
My second visit, I got the black sesame premium ice cream which i was skeptical about as i’m not a huge fan of black sesame however, it was easily one of my favorite ice creams i’ve had.
Overall i highly recommend Kyo Teahouse, if you’re a matcha lover this place is a definite must!
There was a pretty long line when we arrived, it was 8:29pm and I order the matcha parfait. "Sorry we don't serve that after 8:30pm". Phone ticks over to 8:30pm. Are you kidding me! Is this some kind of cruel joke? Friend whispers, "it was 8:28pm on my phone". *sigh* Fine, I'll just get the swirl sundae, a mixture of matcha and houji-cha soft serve.
The sundae had several layers, the soft serve was pretty fantastic with great tea flavour on both accounts. The gelatin and flakes on the bottom provided textural complexity, would have enjoyed stronger flavours coming from the jelly and the flakes are basic cereal flakes. There is also a bulb of red bean and a couple of mochi balls which weren't as mochi-esque (i.e. not as chewy as mochi should be).
Despite the criticisms it was still pretty darn good, one of the waitresses almost took away my unfinished cup and I freaked out! Sorry about that haha. Next time I'm going to give their gelato a go, fixated on their extra strong matcha.
Very good matcha latte. Perfect balance of matcha, not too sweet or too overpowering. Their ice cream also nice. Love their hojicha and matcha ice cream. 这里的抹茶拿铁还不错 ... 冰淇凌也很好吃.
Definitely the best matcha in town!!! I love green tea so much, and I keep finding myself going back to this place for more matcha. They offer lighter - deeper greentea gelato, many kind of geentea based drinks and desserts, matcha soft serve, and they also have hojicha flavour. Even if you don’t like greentea, I think you might like something from here.
Ps: they also sell affordable but really good greentea powder.
Fragrant, rich and smooth. Tried the matcha (strong) ice cream with black cone and absolutely loved it! The ice cream wasn’t too sweet and the matcha stands out very much compared to the others I’ve tried and they serve quite a big scoop too. The hojicha latte was very comforting and not too sweet either, making it very enjoyable!
Their ice cream is AMAZING. The matcha (extra strength), black sesame and red bean ice creams were the best ones I've ever tasted. The hojicha ice cream is delicious too. Can't wait to go back!
I have tried so many different matcha shops but I always end up coming back here. Their Matcha Float is definitely a must try. It tasted the best with half sugar/syrup level. In the photo is there Chia Yoghurt with 3 types of berry and corn flakes and matcha. But I still like the Matcha Float. And I don't think this place is expensive because matcha is not cheap at all. Totally worth it.
This place is found in emporium. Such a neat place that serves mainly matcha desserts. We had the matcha ice cream, what a treat! We were in matcha heaven. I can't wait to go back and try more.
I always love stopping here when I'm a bit tired for an uplifting matcha icecream, which comes in a range of strengths. I like the medium or strong versions. Other wonderful Japanese icecream flavours available too. I don't try the deserts as I can't eat gluten and I'm not sure if they are gluten free, but they look amazing. Staff are always friendly. Seating can be limited at busy times but I've never had trouble finding a seat.
Fantastic selection of ice cream including dairy free sorbets. I had the strong flavoured matcha; wonderful. My brother had a sundae and thoroughly enjoyed the flavours and textures. Service was friendly. Will be back.
Houjicha float was beautiful, and the black sesame gelato was fantastic. Great texture and strong taste. I loved it!
Service was quick and friendly staffs.
As a super matcha lover, I’ve always love Kyo Tea house matcha!
Always bought their premium strong matcha ice cream in a tub to savor it whole for myself!
Would definitely recommend to try them out :)
It’s become almost tradition to come to this place every time I’m in emporium, it’s that good! After shopping around this is the perfect space to eat dessert and chill with mates. Best matcha and houjicha desserts 👍👍
Best matcha ice cream!! I love the matcha soft serve here, I like that you can chose your flavour of cone (plain, matcha or black). I always go on my lunch breaks.
My favourite Japanese dessert place! I have been going to Kyo Teahouse ever since it opened in Emporium. I probably average at least once or twice a fortnight in visiting Kyo! Hahaha! Location: Kyo Teahouse is located on Basement Level of Emporium. It is a very modern shop with simple seating.
🔅MENU🔅
They have a fabulous range of desserts, cakes, drinks and ice cream to suit everyone's palette.
If you like ice cream especially green tea, they have different level of intensity. You can even buy the ice cream in containers as well to bring home to enjoy at your own time. Please view attached photos, I have tried to capture the full menu for your reference.
🔅MY FAVOURITE🔅
I always come here and have the Houjicha Milk Cream (#14 on the menu and costs $7.50). It's my favourite. I have tried the Matcha Milk Cream but I found that matcha green tea was a bit too strong for my liking. Houjicha (roasted tea) is a much lighter option with great flavour. I highly recommend this to everyone!
~~*YUMMY!! *~~
My other favourite is their Houjicha & Matcha Swirl Soft Serve in waffle cone ($3.80) you also get to chose from different flavour waffle cones too!! Awesome! The soft serve is delicious and the Price: I believe for the price that you're paying for is decent as you are paying for good quality green tea/roasted tea dessert. Their ingredients are high quality and not cheap. If you are an avid Japanese dessert lover you will be able to taste the difference.
🔆SERVICE🔆
The staff working at Kyo Teahouse are very friendly and all speak Japanese. They are very polite and always smiling.
I highly recommend you to visit Kyo Teahouse if you enjoy Japanese desserts/drinks or if you're curious and first time - give it a go! 😉
The service is amazing and the desserts/drinks never disappoint!! Always come here for their houjicha icecream float. The emporium store has a large variety of cakes and icecream flavours so will definitely come again to try all of them!
Tried the ice cream and matcha latte strong and with complimentary sweets. So soft cream was average and a bit powdery needs to be more creamy like in Japan daimyo . Matcha was strong and nicely done. The sweet was good better than Japan . I recommend it for drink but not ice cream.
Niken Rahmadini Cholin

It taste the same with the one I tried in Japan. The place also very comfortable to stay even it’s located inside a shopping mall. The staff also very helpful when I ask a recommendation. My favourite is the roasted tea float (I don’t like matcha). If you love matcha, this place is for you !
I love their matcha gelato - always drop by whenever I feel like having one, you can get other Asian selections here too. However, drink presentation is a bit of a letdown because what they serve you doesn’t match the photo illustrated menu *Can’t recall if I saw any fineprints in the menu*
For lovers of Matcha! Go here its Auntentic and Strong. Also have a lot of Matcha flavoured desserts which are also super good. I go here When I need a Matcha hit
We tried the strong matcha gelato with matcha cone which was so yummy! Not too sweet and I can actually feel the tea mixed well with the milk. Texture was just right, not melting too fast. $4.5 for one scoop is a bit pricey but I think it worths it. Service was fast and friendly. Love the gelato so much and will definitely come back!
The matcha and houjicha drinks are really nice here, and the location is so convenient for shopping break. One of the best matcha spot in Melbourne CBD.
We love coming here every time we are at Emporium. Often a busy little place. We usually get the Matcha and Hojicha swirl on the black waffle cone plus the Matcha Parfait. The flavours of the soft serve Matcha and Hojicha swirl is a great combination, you can taste both and it complements each other when combined. The Parfait is full of flavour, it comes with the vanilla and Matcha ice cream, Matcha biscuit, Mochi or sticky rice balls, red beans and matcha flavoured jelly on the bottom. Very beautiful combination. It’s a bit pricey but a nice dessert and very friendly staff. Worth a visit!
Came here for matcha soft serve and yuzu sorbet. They're a bit pricey, but spot on with the flavours and texture and worth every penny for the quality. The yuzu sorbet is absolutely incredible in flavour and the texture is so smooth!
I had the yuzu and the milk ice cream on a matcha waffle cone. Both flavours are excellent for different reasons. Yuzu is citrus heaven and the milk ice cream is creamy goodness.
$8 is on the expensive side of ice cream. $4.50 is for one scoop, $8.00 for two. The scoops are large but how can anyone choose just one! Despite the higher cost, I enjoyed it, I'll just get single scoops next time. :)
I quite like Kyo Tea house's ice cream. My favourite flavor is the milk one. The ice cream is particularly creamy. Not too sweet. A lot of matcha desserts, which they do well. But its good they have quality non-matcha options. Worth visiting.
I fell in love with this green tea flavoured beverage and ice creams. Kyo Tea House is the best one in the city. They are specialised on everything Matcha (Green Tea).
Their Matcha ice cream with extreme matcha flavour is so intense. It is not a typical creamy matcha latte. Anyone who is serious about Macha would need to give it a go.
Apart from ice cream, their soft serve is also very nice. You get to choose 3 different waffle cones. Two of them came with tea flavours.
The service is very friendly and efficient. This is our go to place for a quick ice cream run after dinner. The only problem, the one in CBD closes too early 😊
An amazing selection of Japanese desserts! The Premium Matcha and Black Sesame icecream is a definite must try - one of the best I've tasted so far! Service staff are always welcoming and friendly. Seating is limited during peak periods.

This place has been on my Must-Visit list for a long time and I finally got a chance to visit! Conveniently located inside Emporium :) Had warm Matcha Koicha Latte which was incredibly soothing - very strong matcha flavour that isn't too sweet nor bitter. Highly recommend
Kyo Tea House is a dessert cafe located in Melbourne Emporium. The cafe serves a wide variety of dessert including drinks, gelato, soft serve, cakes, etc. The flavours of gelato include hoijicha, azuki, yuzu, different intensities of matcha, etc. The dessert served is very delicious. Matcha lovers should not miss this dessert cafe. Do check out my instagram @ roshan_arjun for more feeds. Cheers!
Spent about 2 hours at this place Sunday arvo and it was always bustling with people from different backgrounds and ages. Not an expert on what Japanese green tea should taste like but I know for sure, the flavours are bold and suit my taste buds.
If this is what real Japanese sweet dessert tastes like, I'd be more than happy to leave on a flight tonight.
Had the green tea float which was very nice. Also had 2 ice crem scoops: gen mai cha and sesame. I personally recommend their ice cream. Super delicious!
I ate the houjicha & matcha soft serve plus their daily special dessert it was so tasty!! This is the best matcha dessert shop I've come across so far in Melbourne mmm. The matcha taste is just right not too sweet!
