Having a zoo membership means I get to try all the yummy food in the Parkville/ Flemington area đŹ one of the cafes I have always walked past and wanted to try was Noughts and Crosses, although I kept getting lured into Laksa King.
On this occasion we came here for breakfast and the kids was screaming for bacon and eggs brioche. The serving was bigger than my youngest head! It looked so yummy and the kids loved it.
I had a healthier breakfast of scrambled tofu and veggies. I often wondered with these Asian dishes whether it would be overly salty or sweet. Thankfully this is just right and if you need more of a salty boost it comes w sauce on the side for you. I especially love the beautifully cooked fresh veggies and was sad I didnât take a pic for you to see. My kids even had some of my veggies! I think it also tasted so good because of the sesame seeds dotted all over the dish.
The only thing that annoyed me (just a touch) is that it took ages for our order to be taken and for the food to arrive. The staff were really apologetic though and it seemed either they are understaffed or is having an unusually busy morning.
Either way I think I will come back and get other good or keep going for the scrambled tofu cos itâs so yummy!

Location is perfect. Food delicious, coffee great and service fabulous. This place does echo quite badly with loud voices.

Foods are fantastic!!! Coffee is above average! The atmosphere is so clean!

Long waiting but the food is good! Coffee is nice too :)

We had breakfast at this place and overall not bad although a little pricey as with many cafes these days. I had the French toast with maple syrup and added bacon, it was tasty!
Terri Runting
Beautiful french toast, best I've had in a while. Coffee could be a little stronger but very well made.

One of our favourite spots in the area. Very friendly staff, delicious food options and good coffee. It's slightly on the high side in terms of price, but I would say worth it for the quality of food you get. We've been for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and thoroughly enjoyed all of it. If you go for dinner on the same night as they have live music, it makes for a fantastic night out

Great location opposite the station in Flemmington coffee and service was great daily newspaper to read if wish has an outside sitting area as well

The best coffee.

Probably the only bustling and professional coffee shop along the strip of delicious Malaysian restaurants. Noughts and crosses have been serving coffee for locals and people who need a quick dessert after their dinner/lunch.

ordered:
iced latte
choc chip, peanut butter cookie

review:
The iced latte had this incredible depth in flavour but so much so it had a unbearable bitter taste that lingered in your mouth. It was so distasteful I had to personally run back in the cafe to ask for another sugar, even with another spoon of sweetener it didnt help to lessen the bitterness. Yes coffee is appreciated with its depth and bitterness, but this bitter had a sour after taste which made is so hard to drink. Their Peanut choc chip cookies were big in size and looked super appetising. However, it had a very cake texture with minimal chew, loved that they didnt go light on the peanut butter as I could taste the nuttiness which went well with the cookie but for a $4-5 cookie it was not worth it.
service was 100% the highlight of the experience, nice and accomodating staff could be the only reason that I will return to give other menu items another shot.

Ordered two cups of coffee here. It was delicious, and the coffee had a nutty flavour. Would definitely come back if Iâm eating nearby and need to get a caffeine hit. Also itâs near the train station so very well located
Dinnertime!
One of my favourite westie cafes. The food is delicious- scramble tofu is incredible, Ruben is the perfect hangover cure, and breaky bun is generous and ticks all the right boxes. Atmosphere is clean and light. Staff are attentive and warm. Coffee is delicious. Do yourself a favour.

I've visited this place endless times, since they first opened in Flemington, and it is one of my fav cafes in the area. It has very chill-out premises and staff, and an always interesting menu. To be fair, they used to have more interesting dishes at the beginning, but everything I've eaten at this cafe has always been satisfying, with dishes well cooked and interesting. The last one I had, the pork shoulder was a great meal with the potatoes cooked to perfection.

Patrons are always chillout people of all ages. Not a hypster place, but a modern fav of mine. Nothing flashy, just consistently good food.

Coffee is good.I will certainly be back.

I love reubens and this one was definitely a winner! The portion was pretty big. The selection of cakes and pastries were tasty too, we tried the pear and apple cake and it was nice and light!

Stylish place with lovely staff and great coffee. My super green salad was tasty and well-seasoned but could have done with some protein, so next time I would add some egg or salmon. All food looked nice and fresh.
Eat. Sleep. Create. Repeat.
Great location to sit and chat with friends after a meal in a busy resturant near by. Staff made us feel welcomed. Coffee is lovely. We love the relaxing environment.

Havenât eaten here but regularly grab coffee. The coffee is quite good and the staff are always very friendly which keeps us coming back. They have free wifi too which makes it a great spot to setup and study or get work done. Have to return to try the food.
Cafe Critic
Poor acoustics, decent coffee, hipster menu, WiFi.
High ceilings and bare walls make the space very echoey. At busy times, I have found the cafe unbearably loud and distracting. Not a relaxing experience.

Coffee is decent and reliable.

Menu is overly complicated and beyond the skills in the kitchen.

Went for wine with my partner last night
Had wine and few small dishes
Cheese was amazing but bread wasnât that great felt it s not fresh corn was okay
For the price, for the foods are reasonable except Bread ($12) which just come with some sliced bread ,oil, nut crumbs
But well.. I recommend it should price down for wine or be generous with pouring
Their wine price is same as high quality restaurant in the city however they serve almost half ml of them
Or having house white or red prob help this shop
I like to visit again for cheese but not for wine
too less serving size doesnât worth with the $
And check gin&tonic of other restaurant or bar canât be more then $10...
Went for dinner last Friday night and highly recommend! Guilty of walking past this place for dinner a number of times because itâs quite empty, but wow - brilliant wine list and the food was great. Nothing else like it in Kensington/Flemington. Had lamb dish and a salad. Yum! Special shout out to waitress who had her first dinner/night shift (Think is a regular in the cafe/day) - she was a delight!
FOOD TRIP
Simple and minimalist cafe close to Flemington train station. Fun and innovative menu options. Portion sizes
are on the smaller side and flavours were average.

Only stopped by for a quick coffee. Enjoyed my really smooth flat white - will be back to try food next time. Coffee was made perfectly! Quiet and clean interior as well.

This is a local for me, but Iâve only stopped in for a coffee and a snack. The coffee had a nice smooth and strong flavour which did the trick. I also tried a muesli slice for a breaky in the run and it was very filling. Iâll definitely be back!

So nice being the first guest bloggers of Noughts and Crosses this week. The young owner was super lovely and cleverly designed the sleek bright and modern space himself. I loved the outdoor courtyard area with its stunning greenery and colourful hanging plants. We opted to sit inside which was a little too close to the tempting cake cabinet for my liking. The cakes are made in house and looked gorgeous. I forced myself to stop eyeing off the delectable brownie and order a chai as I awaited my healthy green smoothie bowl.
I am happy to report that despite being off green smoothie bowls since the grassy tasting one I had a few weeks ago this one has redeemed them all in my eyes. Just the right balance between nourishing and sweet, with the granola and fresh fruit providing texture. My dining companion had the lamb with pomegranate and pumpkin which I snuck a forkful of and was impressed by how extremely flavoursome it was. The menu listed here on Zomato looks to be outdated but Iâd thoroughly recommend going in to check out the latest offerings. Itâs literally located across the street from the train station so a super convenient location, particularly if you are dining at night and want to have a few drinks

Recent visit update-
Today's coffee was once again amazing!!!
I ordered a dirty chai. Little did I know it was made properly, from steeping real tea leaves. And yet it was still of creamy texture!!! Did not taste watered down or weak. Very fragrant and delectable!! So if you are feeling like a highly fragrant aromatic chai latte... HIGHLY RECOMMENDED đ thanks
Every Sunday had brought me down this area and Noughts and Crosses absolutely have always caught my eye with the sleek neutral modern minimalistic decor that have been thoughtfully designed and executed. (Who cannot love the clever logo!!!) Being always on the run; never had a chance to stop by. But nope, today was the day!! Came in for quick coffee and cake to takeaway.
Staff were super attentive, as I slide the door open and was greeted!
Coffee was top notch, milk frothed to perfection achieving the creaminess and velvety taste of that microfoam.
Cake was equally delectable; very soft and moist.
Definitely have to return for a dine in đ
Highly recommended.
Update:
I returned for a sit down lunch....
Had the mushroom three ways dish; must say it was pretty mediocre. Poached egg was not oozing, over cooked (no I did not ask for it like this). I believe the creaminess from the egg couldn't have balanced out the dish, as dressing was a tad acidic and mushrooms bland.

We stopped by this new cafe in Flemington for coffee and cake on Sunday late afternoon. Although the cafe looked modern, spacious and clean, it looked a bit clinical. The interior decor could use a bit more colour or warmth. The staff are really friendly but there is not much to offer from the cakes displayed. The staff mentioned o us the cakes are made in house except for the croissants and danish. We chose the orange and rosewater friand as snack to go with our latte and chai. The chai and latte was good but the groans was quite ordinary. I'll return to get a cuppa to takeaway but the cafe has not much options on the menu for light refreshment.

Fantastic coffee, sleek and modern ambience and super friendly and lovely staff, delicious scrambled eggs too. Lunch options are good also for meat eaters and vegetarians alike.

I was super excited when this place was being set-up. A new cafe to try out was an exciting prospect. Unfortunately it didn't quite live up to my expectations. Coffee was great, food isn't anything to rave about... but my biggest complaint is about the decor of this place! It's very sterile and not particularly welcoming. The seating could do with some soft furnishings because sitting on a wooden bench with nothing to rest your back against is not cool.
Melbourne's Goodie Foodie
New Kid on the pin-oak block and Hipster wannabe place that has a really limited menu that will not suit all tastebuds, small portion sizes for the high prices. Used to do an expensive but fresh and delicious sushi bowl in the older seasonal menu that made the trip in worth it.

Stumbled upon this buzzing, energetic cafe whilst embarking on a walk of shame with my mates. What began as an exercise of sheer desperation turned into a rejuvenating and unexpected brunch experience that all but washed away the debaucheries of the night before. The decor, lighting and plants have been thoughtfully and tastefully chosen to emphasise an elegant yet relaxed atmosphere. The staff were attentive and personable, even though the cafe was very busy. They were great under pressure and extremely accommodating of our inability to communicate beyond inaudible grunts. The coffee speaks for itself - rich and full of flavour. I challenge you to find a mor talented barista within a 20k radius. The carefully thought out menu offers something for everyone. Unique twists on brekkie staples and adventurous flavour combinations are both handled with aplomb and present beautifully on the plate. Only downside was that the portion size may be too generous - there was no room left to sample any of the sweet temptations at the counter. Wink

Terrible service!!! Me and my friend went there on a Saturday morning, the first 10 mins no one said anything to us, completely ignored us. So we just stood there first, we had to ask for a table otherwise no one will even greet us. We was standing in the middle of the store for almost 25 mins. And decide to leave without dining, because we can't put up with this kind of service anymore! I will never ever go back there, and people there should really pay attention on their customer serviceđđ»đđ»đđ»

A Flat White for me, It was great! Hot and Creamy fully of flavour and texture a great Coffee. One of the best that i have had in a while, local to home. Hilde ordered a soy Latte and it was also good Judging by how fast she drank it. Eating prior to arriving was a bad idea as the menu here looked great, full of great seasonal options and some for all. The Healthy, the unhealthy and the classics that are available at all Brunch cafes. They were missing a sweet option from what i saw but that was fine because they had a wonderful section of home made pastryâs. They had all kinds to fit all people too from Gluten free and more healthy options to what i ordered the âDanishâ. Blackberryâs, pastry and a great creamy filling too. all over it was good maybe a little under crispy for me but that could be my opinion there as it was flaky, a few more crumbs would have been good though.

Noughts + Crosses, a great procrastination joy long before the days of whatever kids are into these days. Clean, minimalistic white space sets the tone of a gallery. Spotted two gorgeous paintings displayed and rightly so. White interior and light wood furnishing, hmm wished i have a kitchen like that. Menu ingredients and coffee are locally sourced.
Beans are from the small batch and do find time to check out the beautiful space craft like coffee machine. Owner Luke can be seen happily chatting away with patrons spreading a lovely culture where every staff look like they were happy to be there on a Saturday morning. Something wonderful to see and definitely adds on to our brunch experience. Went for the 8 hour slow cooked lamb, which is Indian inspired with beans, chick peas, herbs, sweet pomegranate and of course that tender lamb. Very hearty meal which is so easy to eat but i struggled to finish. Poor waitress have been eyeing my unfinished dish 5-6 times to clear, that speaks volume for the high level of service here. Partner went for the halloumi autumn eggs, poached eggs was very well done, another tasty dish. Will definitely drop by again on a very empty stomach or whenever I need to return a book at the Newmarket fridge library.

Nice crisp decor on pin oak crescent. I had an open Rueben sandwich here, serving size quite large, with service prompt and friendly. They have a little courtyard in pin oak crescent that would be nice to sit in in warm weather. Near public transport options- parking is difficult.

Good coffee, service and vibrant tasty food. The breakfast bruschetta was a touch light on in terms of quantity but that aside, an overall good meal

Bright minimalist cafe along the Pin Oak strip. The menu isn't vast but there's enough to please most appetites. I had the smoothie bowl with chocolate granola which was fresh and delicious, I loved the crunchy chocolate granola and it was a generous serve. Hubby had the breakfast roll, which for $10 it's pretty basic. My fresh OJ was about half a cup of ice but besides that it was an enjoyable brunch. Staff were friendly and food came out quite promptly.

Great coffee but as others have stated very limited menu. Not much that appeals to me personally, but I come just for the coffee now hoping they menu expands.

Great new cafe in Flemington to add to the collection. Indoor and outdoor seating available in the well lit cafe.

Staff were great from start to finish.
Coffee was great too. As for the food. Pretty good actually. I really liked their take on the Rueben sandwich. But would have preferred if it were a normal sandwich and not an open sandwich.

Sushi bowl was nice. But personally I prefer my rice to be softer. 8 hour lamb was delicious.

Well worth the visit!

Loves this place. Great coffee and best baby chinos around. Lots of healthy options on the menu. Luke the owner is lovely and the staff are always very friendly and welcoming.
really nice atmosphere and some great food. while i miss the original deli that was here years ago i love that its now been turned into such a sleek cafe.
The coffee is very nice and the gluten free toast i got my scrambled eggs on was great, not the stuff you get from wollies.
Didn't get the chance to try any of the cakes which i was told were also gluten free so i guess I'll just have to come back!

Best coffee in Kenso and Flemington area for sure. This place is on point with coffee and food, also front counter pastries. It's a go to for myself and local friends.

The coffee here is perfect, every time. I love that they use Small Batch Roasters! Smooth, well balanced and very tasty! The space feels calming and cool, and the staff are really friendly. Great location too!

Overall, this place has quite a lot going for it.

The service is very friendly, the coffee is good, and the food was excellent. We had the slow cooked lamb which was really delicious and a reuben - also nice - lovely flavours but it could have had a bit more sauce. And the little one had some poached eggs.

But we hope to be back sometime in the near future. There is a lot of cafe competition in the area but I think I will come back to this place.

New kids in Kensington ......
not even listed on Zomato (just Instagram) when we went there.

Sleek smart White Neutral tones.

Good coffee, limited Brunch Menu, great service from the sleek hipster looking front staff.

Enjoyable space.

Best stop for coffee before my morning train! The coffee is smooth, the staff even smoother and the space feels open and welcoming. Nice options for healthy eating which the area sadly didn't have before. Still aiming to get there for lunch but if the breakfast is anything to go by I am sure it's great!

Love this place. Great coffee, delicious food and friendly staff. Beautiful bright cafe, defs the best in Flemington.

I'd been there for breakfast and lunch, the sushi bowl is my fav. đ

Breakfast is delicious. They make a mean scrambled eggs and coffee is bang on. Great fit out, friendly staff. It's become my Saturday morning regular. Highly recommend.

Have made it here a handful of times since it opened and always welcome coming back. The food isn't as interesting as some nearby cafes, but N+C more than make up for it with delicious meals, beautiful decor and extremely friendly and attentive staff.

Can highly recommend the Veggie Bowl, great flavour combination and obviously a chef that knows her flavours. This is one of the best cafe meals I've eaten.
