I go to this place 2-3 times a week, never disappointed. Great coffee, nice staff.. Try the Falafel they made in-house (ask them to make a Falafel Sandwich). Yea and the Rice Pudding is very delicious too. They open on Saturday which is nice cuz most cafes near that area are closed.
I live just around the corner and i come here most mornings to.get my coffee fix before work. Adam who is the barrister makes great coffee and his wife Lyn are very friendly. They have light meals and it is fast and good.
I love this place. Whenever I walk in to this place I am always warmly greeted by Adam and Lynette, the owners. Lynnette makes great food and Adam makes the best chai in Melbourne. I don't drink coffee but my partner does and he vouched for the coffee. Food is really fresh, and they really care about quality, and the customers. I am moving workplaces and I will be so sad they are not my local.
They helped me re-inaugurate my espresso machine. I'm going to remember 8 Miles for a long time. Not because the pastries I got here were anything fantastic. Although the round baklava with pistachios in the centre and the walnut-filled shortbread biscuit were pretty good (A trifle pricey, though, @ $2.50 and $3 respectively.) What's going to stick out in my mind, though, is that these were the treats I ate along with the first mug of macchiato I made on my home espresso machine. I've been waiting almost 6 months to fire that mutha up since I immigrated back down here from Canada. It took a month for my household goods to clear Customs; then I dicked around a couple months before buying a refrigerator, so I had nowhere to store milk for coffees. 8 Miles is a milk bar as well as a cafe, so this is where I bought the full-cream for my cuppa, thank you. When I finally did try to use my Italian hellion machine, there was a pressure leak that had developed sometime when it was steaming across the Pacific. It's a professional quality, $2,000+ piece of equipment that I had to send to a specialist repair shop in Campbellfield. They took nearly a month (and charged almost $400) to fix the bloody thing. But now I'm back in the business of being able to make my own coffee in the morning, woo-hoo! I feel like Walter White (the meth-chemist anti-hero of the "Breaking Bad" TV series.) I can make my own speed again! The sweetness I feel is only partly due to the sweet stuff I got from 8 Miles. It's been great to sample flat whites at literally hundreds of cafes around the Melbourne metro during the past half-year, but that's all over with. Meaning I'll never have to pay for coffee from a place like this again, no matter how good it is.
Great Coffee!!!! Adam makes.... Great Coffee!!!!
Adam makes a perfect coffee every time! And always with a smile and a friendly relaxed chat. The wraps and focaccias are also perfect for a quick healthy home made lunch. The food is always fresh and tasty. Im so lucky 8 Miles is just downstairs!! Thanks guys for making the ongoing effort to provide top quality food and coffee. See you in the morning :)
