This place is a burger and beer place. You'll get a nice flame grilled burger and a nice craft beer. The price is decent and the staff very friendly, with a real american feel to the diner.
Purchased a burger from this joint,
But enough about that, I'll get to the point
The Le Bon Ton it was, as I recall
I promptly proceeded to scoff it all,
The juciest treat,
For me to eat,
These guys are definitely on the ball...
Booked here on a Saturday night as a last minute decision, it was worth it.
Ordered the Eye fillet which was cooked exactly to my liking and the New York Strip which was also nice. The atmosphere was warm and relaxing.
The main reason I wanted to leave a review was to emphasize the great service we received by one waitress in particular. I didn't catch her name although I want to acknowledge how friendly and amazing her service was! (She had bright red hair) She greeted us as soon as we entered and throughout the night made our experience at Longhorn Saloon very enjoyable. Would love to come in and be served by her again!
It's amazing how much great customer service makes a difference.
I love the decor and atmosphere at Longhorn. It's dark and moody with candlelight and heartbreaking blues playing in the background. Too cool. Food was great last night. While I've had better burgers, the Le Bon Ton cheeseburger still went down well. The major hits for me were the mac n cheese and the brisket nachos - just get in me.
Another sister restaurant to the famous Le Bon Ton.
It was a middle of the day so I was the only costumer. But in the evenings this place is packed.
I ordered their le bon ton buger and macaroni and cheese on the side. The portion of mac n cheese was so generous that I could hardly finished it. The burger was very good - juicy and yummy.
The bartender prepared me a heartwarming toddy and it had the right kick. I am definitely coming back soon.
From the makers of Le Bon Ton and 5 Points Deli, Longhorn Saloon offers a menu that celebrates the tastes and techniques of a good ol' Tex-Mex joint with smoked meats, juicy steaks and burgers along with decadent desserts. . Owners and brothers Will and Mick Balleau's love for American style food is reflected at Longhorn Saloon. The menu boasts items such as ½ lb of Pit-Smoked, Berkshire Pork Shoulder & House Pickle and other American classics like Chicken & Waffles.
this place is awesome located in Carlton longhorn saloon is such a great place to get yourself a steak! as soon as you walk in you get sense of that Texas vibe with Melbourne's own flavor, the setting is amazing with its rustic look it was very well decorated the price was well matched with the food they were serving, we order calamari to start and it was the best calamari I've ever tasted then i got the scotch fillet and my wife got the salmon both were cooked perfectly my steak was cooked to the right temp and my wife's salmon was on point. service is important its what adds to the experience and for me i rate service a lot the staff was friendly but thats it well at least some of them, they were not attentive we waited awhile before getting our order the staff would just chit chat amongst themselves in the bar they were slow to respond, the one that was serving us did not know the menu well when asked questions and very slow had to follow up on my order for a drink!! when the bar was not busy. hence why i rate this place 3.5 could have been a 5 with better service this place is amazing for what it brings the food the culture the vibe the setting the location everything was great but the service it let me down. but i would definantly come back because the food was amazing! good enough for me
Located in the Carlton, this restaurant has good ambience. I ordered the steak and it was cooked as I want it to be. Taste good with the sauce. Service was excellent.
Seriously the best Reuben in Melbourne. Every ingredients was a really high quality that came together perfectly. Others at my table had empanadas, burgers, fries and a milkshake - everything was fantastic. Oh and the onion rings were great. Highly recommended for a relaxed Sunday lunch with friends.

This menu makes my mouth water BUT I have to say since a year ago the standard has dropped. Fried chicken is delicious, but too much white pepper in the sauce throws it outa whack. The Le Bon Ton burger is good, but if the cheese had melted it would have been supreme. Steak was excellently cooked, but the mashed potatays were public hospital quality. The Mac and cheese promised great flavour but was floury and lacklustre. Ohhhh what a menu, ohhhh what great service.... But please oh please longhorn make a few easy tweaks to your carb and cheesy treats and you will have me back and weak at the knees.
After reading an article of best 5 steak houses in Melbourne, i decided to give this place a try.
The service was attentive and friendly but they seem very short staff with only 2 staff on the floor. Food was nice, steak was well flavour, only disappointment was my steak was overcooked. Love the iceberg lettuce. The blue cheese made a good kick to flavour the salad.
They have a good selections of wines and cocktails. I ordered the little China, a cocktails used Chinese 5 spices as ingredient. It was something special for me.
Environment and atmosphere were fantastic, full of wild wild west feel. Overall experience was good, the only concern for me was the waiting time for food was too long.
We were lucky enough to sample a few dishes, starting with the smoked brisket nachos (Le Bon Ton pit smoked brisket, grilled cheese, pico de gallo & crema), which I didn’t expect to love as much as I did! I’m usually not a fan of mega loaded nachos, because you just end up with soggy chips, but the majority of these chippies stayed crisp the whole way through. The brisket, as you’d expect, was amazing – soft and tender and falling apart. I’m a big fan of Le Bon Ton’s brisket anyway, so I was stoked to get to try this.
Great place to visit after a film or shopping in Lygon. Forget your cholesterol levels and just chow down -try the beef skewer soft taco's! Yummy. Service friendly and space cosy on a cold winters arvo! Bathrooms smell like bubble gum 😆
I adore this place, such a lovely vibe and the food is amazing, especially the onion rings - seriously OMG yum. We went with a group of friends and each had a different meal and every single meal was commented on how good they tasted.
Longhorn Saloon is a cozy place with amazing American fare! Our server Cameron was awesome, he made an excellent food recommendation for the fussiest guest on our table and had us in fits of laughter when he added to a joke that only we thought was funny - great guy!
To start, we shared Chicken Tenders, Smoked Brisket Nachos and Poutine which were all so good, couldn't pick a favourite! Mains at the table included the Ranchero burger, Brisket Reuben, New York Strip, Pork Scotch Fillet and Chicken and Waffles to die for! All meals were beautifully presented and tasted great. More variety on the menu than Le Bon Ton and the same authentic American cuisine that we've come to expect from these restaurant leaders in Melbourne. Longhorn Saloon is perfect for group dining, cozy booths at the front for a quiet meal or a cheeky after work drink at the bar - beverage list is extensive - April Sun cocktail is my fave!
I went here last night for a second time with my wife, and I can guarantee we will be back again!
The staff were helpful and friendly (though not overly so), and the food was excellent and tasty. We shared the chicken tenders (which were amazing), followed by a couple of the Ranchero Burgers (which were huge and a very generous portion), we also shared a couple of side dishes (both of which were tasty and very generously portioned.
No real complaints from me. The portion sizes are great without sacrificing on flavour. We both left feeling very stuffed. The food is also very reasonably priced. The thing that lets it down slightly is the price of the beers. The tap beers are all from the USA, which is great and keeps in with the theme of the restaurant, but at $10+ for 355ml seems slightly pricey (though in general keeping with most places these days!).
We will definitely be back I'm sure.
Best vegetarian burger ever! Had such a genuine smoky barbecue flavour; I was flawed! Chips were well seasoned and portions were generously sized. An extensive and comprehensive drinks menu. Service wasn't very warm, but can overlook that as the dining experience was a pleasure.
Had a great dinner here on Friday night with the boys. Service was warm and friendly. We walked in off the street and didn't expect too much and was pleasantly surprised. The meal portions are huge, highlights were the Reuben, smoked brisket nachos & the burger. Will be back to check out a few more things on the menu.
Next up was the 5 Points Deli Brisket Reuben (on dark rye, with corned brisket, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese and Russian dressing). It was one of the biggest sandwiches I’ve ever seen, and the brisket was delicious, especially the rendered, melty fat pockets in there...
Ate at the Longhorn for dinner, finally after seeing the restaurant on Postcards... As soon as we walked in, seemed smaller than what I saw on the show, but the atmosphere was great. I ordered the New York steak, the 5b points Reuben, the Ranchero Burger and the 3 price fried chicken. Overall the food was great, but I would definitely go back again for the Reuben... Was just sooo good.RayDAN143
Quite an enjoyable experience for one our our monthly boys dinners. I was feeling unwell, so went spatchcock instead of my usual steak. Was delicious. The guys were very impressed with the bourbon.. and their range of meals!
Great food, great drinks.
Dined in Wenesday, didn't expect too much but this place delivers.
Very cool lay out and the music playlist was a great match.
The food was great and the wine and cocktail list is very good.
Super simple menu lay out that works well.
Great, friendly staff.
Our family of 8 went out for dinner to longhorn tonight. Highly recommend for a big group of people as there are beautiful big tables and the restaurant has a great vibe. Three of us ordered steak for dinner medium rare and they were on the well done side. Extremely pleased with the way this was matter was handled, the manager attended to us right away and replaced our steaks with new ones cooked to our liking and because we had to wait for them to be cooked, they gave us a number of bowls of fries for free, as well as taking all three steaks off the bill! Extremely impressed with the service we received & we will all be going back because the steaks were delicious, as were the burgers!!
Had a great dinner here the other night. Service was professional and warm and the food was great. We have the set menu which had a good variety of everything, but it was so big. The waiter did warn us though!! Will be back.
Went for the first time with the wife and had a great time ... Booked a few weeks later with my wife and 2 more couples and everyone that night had a great night and there already asking when we are going back again.
Went down on a very quiet night but the restaurant was welcoming. The staff are polite and friendly. So polite, in fact that the lovely staff member looking after us was too polite to tell us we'd over ordered (we had, ha!). Oh well - we all had a giggle in the end as our table piled up with tasty goods. We sampled much of the menu and all of it delivered. They are genuinely large servings so go with a group, or order moderately with just two. Highlights were the Reuben and smoked brisket nachos... I'd love to go back.
Cheeseburger Anyone? "Where's The Sauce"?

Came here Saturday night and my partner and i ordered the eye fillet and ranchero burger. also calamari for entree.
The Calamari was ok.. But the burger and steak was AMAZING! Great burger, patty was juicy and extremely tasty! great choice of cheese and good work with the iceberg lettuce.i hate when places use mixed lettuce. steak was cooked to perfection and tasted so fresh and juicy. The only thing i didn't like was the relish in the burger but there mayo was creamy and YUM! Their chips are crunchy and the flavoring on them is delicious!
Thank you for great food! will be coming back for sure for burgers! and steaks too!
This is now my no.1 in Melbourne for burgers and tasty american / tex-mex style food. The le bon ton burger is excellent but the ranchero is now my no.1 pick and highly recommended. The staff are great and very attentive.
Came across this pleasant restaurant that is part of the le Bon ton chain. It was definitely not as loud as their counterpart. Had the Jamaican chicken with Spanish rice, chicken breast was extremely juicy and flavoursome. The rice with veggies complimented the dish and the yoghurt just tied it all up. Definitely coming back again! The bartender/waiter was very attentive too. Oh and order te apple crumble, baked fresh and was a perfect finish to the night!
Couple of our friends hosted us for dinner at this very interesting restaurant. Being a fanatic of restaurant interior, I sure did love it at first sight. The Texan atmosphere with dimly lit lights and melted candles on the stairways were very catchy.
Though they mixed up my drinks order, I loved the Salmon fillet and Calamari! Fresh, succulent and generous in portion, it was a perfect treat for both eye and stomach. We skipped desserts as we were stuffed already.
Must try!
Heard of this place by word of mouth and decided to have late night dinner for my birthday. Was very hesitant to come here due to the negative reviews but gave it benefit of the doubt and was actually pleased with my dining experience. I ordered the eye fillet steak - rare and it came out cooked as it was supposed to, it was sooo delicious. Customer service was amazing! Very attentive and friendly. Would come again and recommend to friends.
Was hesitant given the lacklustre reviews but this place is PHENOMENAL! I should have known it would be given how much I love Le Bon Ton! The place is decked out in the most amazing way, their interior designer needs a big applaud! The staff are so lovely, and so attentive. The food is absolutely incredible! Everything was cooked perfectly, and had so much flavour. It is the kind of restaurant you could sit in for hours and hours. I cannot wait to return!
Food was delicious - nachos, New York strip and calamari. Great combination of flavors, ingredients & presentation. Service was good when you got it but staff were scarce and busy. Would come back to try more of the menu!
I really don't understand the negative comments for this eatery. Had a wonderful night. Beautiful food. Excellent service. Great wine selection. Will be back.
Had a great meal here. Loved the onion rings to bits and I dont like onion rings. Oysters were soooo fresh. Poutine yum. Nachos yum. Muscles yum.
Great food,great service,recommended
Great addition to Elgin Street. Love the fit out of this place, very cool interior. The food is great, lots of love going into it. The service friendly, needs a little more polish, but I'm sure they will catch up with the kitchen and then this place will be rocking.
Cosy. I wanted to try what was in the old Muttis location. I really love the set up here. We had a table upstairs and it's a really warm atmosphere. The service was attentive and very friendly. I ordered the clam casino for entree. It was good to try it, but I probably wouldn't order it again. I liked everyone else's entrees more (Salmon gravalax, Classic Six Prawn Cocktail, Fior De Burrata). For mains, there were four of us, so we ordered the Dry Aged Florentina to be shared between four, plus some sides. It was very good food, and plenty for four people. A couple of people ordered desserts, which we all shared a bit of, and we each had a couple of glasses of wine. It worked out at about $80 each, and I think that's pretty good value for a nice meal out. You could definitely spend more there if you ordered cocktails. Maybe next time? I really liked this place and will definitely return. Also, I'm keen to try it in the daytime, with the deli style menu.
Longhorn Saloon Carlton is the newest venture from brothers Will and Mick Balleau, owners of Collingwood’s Le Bon Ton and Richomond’s Chingon. Spread across 2 levels of the space that used to house German restaurant Mutti’s, is actually 2 venues – 5 Points Deli downstairs and Longhorn Saloon upstairs
Great food, great service, could've filled 6 Olympic swimming pools with the amount of water we were given
Terrific service and food in retro atmosphere. The hosts were all so welcoming and pleasant. The music was a bit retro and mixed genre but very enjoyable all the same. Steak was ordered medium rare and probably came out a little too rare. They could improve the beer selection too. Wine and whiskey were both great. This is a terrific choice for a night with friends or as a couple.
We booked the Longhorn for a function and had an absolute ball. The staff were all amazing and really looked after us. They were so accommodating and great fun. The food was incredible, the drinks were perfect, the whole night was better than i ever could have imagined. Thanks so much for taking such good care of us.
The food menu is a sort of steakhouse meets New York style deli meets American comfort food greatest hits. The influences of the owner’s 2 venues is immediately apparent when looking at the menu, with a Southern flavour winding its way throughout the menu. In fact, the Le Bon Ton cheeseburger is on the menu and is called just that.
Drinks are theme appropriate and the list is very impressive, especially on the spirits front.
Have been on a massive burger binge and I can confidentially see that this place has one of the best burgers around. Great Food, Excellent Service, Would definitely recommend it to everyone.
