The french toast from SOS Cafe in South Yarra has to the BEST french toast going around! Absolutely amazing! So much flavour, and such a satisfying meal! Highly Recommend.
Taco, Taco, Taco - The 3 taco plate is literally the best thing that has hit South Yarra since the train station! This is what you order when you go to SOS. Available for takeaway too which is even better!
SOS has definitely saved my soul. From the coffee to the acai, breakfast can be both naughty and nice. I am loving the vibe of SOS, the outside feel but fully enclosed which is perfect on hot or cold days. Highly recommend.
Really diverse menu, beautiful presentation and 10/10 service. The Tiramisu Pancakes were right up my alley and I loved every bite, especially the cashew cream. For gluten free pancakes, they were really light and airy.
Great little cafe with delicious coffee. The missus was also very happy with her meal. Worth a shot if you're in the area for sure!
SOS Cafe is the perfect cafe for catching up with friends. They have a large seating area in an undercover outside area. Plenty of heat during the winter and plenty of air flow for the summer. The ultimate dog cafe! The food is great, the service is great and they also offer bottomless brunch!
Delicious toasties here! I recommend the veg and pesto one. Staff we very nice too
Came here with my mum for brunch. Bao buns were really fluffy and her eggs were well cooked. Nice atmosphere and good vibes
The fish tacos here are really yummy! Love how they have heaps of outdoor space to sit and relax. Will definitely be back to try more menu items
Great feel and service. Love the coffee and food. Would highly recommend.
I got some take away from here. Initially the service was really friendly and welcoming. The strong skinny latte was tasty and the strong almond latte was good too.
I ordered 2 toasties from here too, one chicken and the other bacon and avocado and although my toastie was very good whilst the second one wasn’t quite as good unfortunately.
But overall it was a good experience and I’d go back.
Had breakfast with family at this local cafe after spending a night in the city and it’s safe to say it filled us up! The portion size was big and definitely worth every bite. (not to mention the nice big plates that it was served on) Everything tasted fresh and healthy. Also looked great on the plate with so many colours!
I have been to SOS cafe a number of times and the brunch is always lovely. The issue which seems to always pop up is the service. I have ended up leaving several times after waiting almost 15 minutes to be served after sitting down to eat. In addition, we have had our orders mixed up a few times and frankly no one there ever seems to be in a rush to attend to you.
Its a shame because the food is really great and the prices very reasonable.
GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY BRUNCH PLACE! I ordered the chili scramble with extra chorizo and it was less than $20. Get Zomato gold and go with your partner! Quick, efficient, pleasant service as well. The Lankan fried rice was very filling I would definitely return. One of the better brunch places in south Yarra
The tofu scramble is amazing! And the coffee so good. I love that they update the menu and have a great range of foods to choose from. The porridge is another one of my go to’s. Plus the outdoor courtyard is so cute and dog friendly. Will be back!
We’ve enjoyed many meals at SOS. They have really good specials throughout the week making it a solid weeknight dinner spot. We’ve tried their burger, Parma and steak specials and all were incredible value for money and tasty.
Friendly service and a bit of live music and you have yourself a lovely evening out.
Check out the Vege Bruschetta stack from the guys at @soscafe 👀🤤
Sourdough toast, Green Hummus, roasted pumpkin, bock choy, poached eggs and topped with dukkah, feta & cherry tomatoes 🔥🔥🔥 This was unreal!!
Visited for breakfast via Zomato gold. My partner and I shared the fritters and the baked eggs, both of which were fine but nothing special. With the discount it felt well worth the price, but I think I would have been disappointed if I'd paid full price. The baked eggs were a bit pale and would have been nice with a richer base, but it was still pretty good as were the fritters.
Do yourself a favour and order the Croque Madame! It was so delicious. And the eggs were cooked perfectly. The pork Benny was good. But the bread didn’t seem super fresh. And the sauce was a little over powering. But still tasty overall.
The customer service was very good.
Went for a lunch and the seating outside on a sunny day was great. We ordered the SOS super bowl and Prawn tacos. The food was presented very well and tasted equally good. The server was friendly and appeared happy to serve. All in all, a great experience.
If you’re hungry for a big breakfast then the Primal Plate is the way to go, huge plate of deliciousness.! Poached eggs, thick slice of roasted sweet pumpkin, roasted tomatoes and mushrooms, bacon, avocado ( the usual suspects but more tasty ). with toasted multigrain sourdough. Very busy at midday on a Saturday and the wait staff were attentive and friendly. Will be back to try the salmon with soba noodles for sure.
Great little cafe with lovely staff. They have zomato gold here which makes it a very cheap brunch! I believe they are also open for dinner.
We ordered the chilli scramble and brioche french toast. Chilli scramble wasnt the best Ive had in Melbourne but still had some great flavours, chorizo was a yum addition. The french toast was a massive hit with the husband. I had a bite and it tasted like a doughnut/cake, very yum!
Will be back to try more dishes!

Stopped here for a later afternoon coffee & I was so happy that this cafe was open after 4pm! I was able to enjoy a coffee & not feel rushed.
Such a beautiful interior, modern but also classic/heritage.
Coffee was nice, not my favourite but not bad either.
Service was nice but nothing over the top.
Venue is pretty cute. Outside is still warm enough to sit since there's heaters and the walls block wind. Service was a tiny bit slow but bearable. The serving size was decent and presentation was really nice. Our server brought us dirty napkins which I had to point out and it seemed like she could've taken the initiative to just give us clean napkins in the first place. Its not a big deal but it was the only down side to the experience. The chicken burger was yummy and the buns were soft. Fries were cooked well. I had the pulled pork egg Benny. Great flavour! Would recommend.
Gluten Free?! Vegan?! And still incredibly delicious?! SOS truly are magicians 🌚
FOOD: I ordered the Tiramisu Pancakes and I’ve been eyeing these pancakes for the LONGEST time and my wait was worth and the expectations lived up to 🤤 SOS are super transparent with what they’re serving and what else is transparent is how amazing these pancakes were! I’ve never had gluten free pancakes that were that fluffy! For all my vegan, gluten free or special diet friends, SOS didn’t leave you out! Every single aspect of this dish was so satisfying and didn’t fail any flavour that normal pancakes would have! And it actually tasted like tiramisu!! It was so delicious and I’ve never had these flavours come together and be this delicious! The espresso ice cream was phenomenal, the cashew cream was so unique and good!! They didn’t skimp on any of the ingredients and especially not the fruit which I truly appreciate ❤️ I looove pancakes and this is definitely up there in terms of all the pancakes I’ve tried and I definitely recommend it to ANYONE and EVERYONE!!
SERVICE: I’m not sure if I went during a particularly short handed staff day but there was only one poor waitress running around but she was really sweet and pleasant so thank you :)
SOS is a lovely cafe that thrives on good food with good for you ingredients and the tiramisu pancakes is one of the most special things I’ve ever tried and it’s great that it caters to alot of dietary requirements! I would definitely come back and thank you for the food!

SOS Cafe
60 Commerical Road Prahran
7-4pm daily, 7:30am start on weekends
*
Overall score: 16/25 or ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
in 5 words: quick coffee near south Yarra
*
Taste ⭐️⭐️⭐️ - ✅ ordered my usual skinny flat white here. I thought it tasted average, could tell that they used fresh milk but I feel that the coffee beans lacked flavour (maybe I am used to coffee that’s more intense). This would be good for a second cuppa in the middle of the day when your errands are not quite done.
*
Ambience ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - there was a wonderful fountain outside the cafe which adds to the relaxed cafe atmosphere. Quite pet friendly too which is a big plus for a dog lover like me!
*
Price ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️- coffee is quite cheap at $3.5. Perfect for those who are rushing to south yarra train station and getting their coffee fix.
*
Presentation ⭐️⭐️ - coffee cup had no design. Couldn’t comment on the food.
*
Service ⭐️⭐️⭐️- the staff seemed a bit busy and distracted on a busy weekend morning, but I got my coffee within 5 minutes which was good!
This place definitely saves souls!
I had been dreaming about visiting this place for quite a long time because not only do they have some amazing outdoor seating that makes you visit and seat down not for just a coffee but the positive energy that it irradiates makes you stay all day there.
At the time when I visited last year, I was a bit overwhelmed by the cost of the coffee and food in general and I even mentioned that to their social media person. But despite of that, I had the most amazing brunch experience.
I had the Tiramisu pancakes with cashew cream and pistachio and cacao nib crumbles along with an almond latte and this is definitely in my top meals that I’ve had in Melbourne. Making vegan pancakes with food consistency is hard but they way SOS cafe has achieved these pancakes, they definitely deserve recognition! I’m not a huge coffee lover but even the expresso ice-cream and maple ristretto were on point! Portion size is not massive but enough to leave you satisfied (and craving for more!). Presentation is also very good although it could definitely have more toppings than just some random strawberries thrown away in there. I do regret not getting that epic pouring shot though (I was still a newbie at the time 😂).
The almond latte was good but nothing that stood out and like I mentioned it was overpriced in my opinion.
In conclusion, yes, these are definitely in my top vegan pancakes in Melbourne and I would definitely go back again even though I think that the price could be slightly more affordable considering the size of the pancakes. I would be keen to try other things from the menu and see how I would feel about those!

Stopped by for our dinner yesterday. They had a happy hour -$15 for food and beer. It was pretty good deal. We had chicken parma and grilled salmon. The food was yum!
I found their pricing is very reasonable, and potion is quite big as well. Great spot to just have a break. I had grilled salmon and my partner had a chicken dish. We struggle to finish our dishes as they were quite big (in a good way!)
South Yarra is full of trendy cafes but make sure you make time for a pit stop at SOS. The decor is pure white, minimalist with gold trimmings and mini potted plants; it has a cool, casual vibe with a wonderfully creative menu to match. Order the Pulled Pork Benedict to start, given a twist with Roti bread instead of boring old sour dough and apples with harissa on the side instead of a salad. The pulled pork melts in your mouth and everything just combines for this complex flavour on your palette that will give you the chills. The tiramisu pancakes seem to be an Instagram favourite - it’s pretty yet solid, the pancakes taste more like banana bread than pancakes but they’re not too bad. It comes with chocolate ice cream and a small cup of espresso to drizzle over the dessert, perhaps don’t pour the whole thing like we did because it just makes the entire thing bitter. But let’s not take away from what is a great place and some seriously great food.
Great value. Porterhouse steak (cooked perfectly), chips and salad for just $20. And currently with a free drink. Salmon for $20 too and huge chicken parmigiana for $15, again with a drink.
Conveniently located adjacent to South Yarra station
We enjoyed breakfast at this sunny location. There was a great selection and the juice was better than most. Not such great lunch menu but a definite for breakfast. Friendly waitresses.
Very good breakfast! Generous and tasty! This place is great if it is a sunny day and the staff is friendly! Coffee is good! Will come back! Thanks
What can I say?
1. Well finally they opened for Dinner too ( I think?)
2. Got surprised they also serving you with free entree
3. The food was so delicious and big portion
4. The staff was so friendly
5. You not only sitting outdoor but also warm with firelight too and relax as well as South Yarra environment
6. Just romantic dinner With my son (😒🤦♀️) 😅
7. The bills $ after you got much more than you expected
8. Quick get your seat there!!
Bon Appetite!!
Have been coming to SOS for quite some time now as its one of my locals. Perfect cafe to kick back, have a drink and grab some breaky/lunch on a sunny day in South Yarra.
Staff are very friendly and chilled here, service is really quick as well. One of the best cafes for smoothies, must try the calming and naughty but nice.
Food has always been really good, a variety of choices for breakfast but you simply can't go past the hipster bowl for lunch.
Will continue to visit..
Ambiance: great view, nice music, not too loud
Service: quick, efficient and friendly
Food: great ingredient pairing. The sauces and flavours used were clearly thought out. Each choice complimented another.
Presentation: superb
The overall experience was satisfying with nothing to fault.
Damn, the coffee here is GOOD! I came back for three iced soy lattes in one afternoon. Smooth, rich and icy cold. Lovely customer service from the barista too.
So many amazing vegan options, so close to the station and open for dinner! I absolutely love the vibe here and cannot wait to return. The only let down was the taste of my pancakes :/
Sending out an SOS x2 .....
You can't be a generation Z nor Y if you know the lyric and the singer of that song, however this cafe is filled with generation X; patrons and staff.
Sunday after lunch, Latte is calling .... stumbled across this cafe with a fountain in the courtyard with and undercover seating area ... Sandstone theme, a feel of little Italy, just lovely from the hustle and bustle of Toorak Rd.
$7.00 deal for a small coffee with Muffin/Brownie, you can't go wrong, get both.
Latte was a tad ordinary, Muffin and Choc Brownie made up for it, a combo of God's Honest Truth coffee beans and a "mini" La Marzocco, it was struggling to cater for the demand.
Service was okay too. JT-26/11/2017.
I can’t get enough of this place. I’ve had almost everything on the menu. Number one fav is the açai bowl, next to the mushrooms. Also love their shakes- PB and J was so good. Usually a wait on the weekends, but worth it.
Great outdoor eating space in the heart of South Yarra. Food was overall really good and many healthy vegetarian options. Coffee was pretty good. Would go back
-Cosy and cute little cafe in south Yarra
-Dishes were not worth it in my opinion, as the portions were small for the price and definitely did not fill us up
-However, they provided blankets which is lovely for cold winter mornings
> Tiramisu pancakes layered with cashew cream, banana, pistachio, cacao nibs and espresso ice cream • Scrambled Eggs with chorizo, peas and dukkah on pumpkin loaf <
"What you see is what you get" and these pancakes definitely live up to the saying. It was like having your morning coffee, breakfast and dessert all in one! The eggs provided a nice savoury contrast, and the pumpkin loaf was a refreshing twist on the typical crusty bread. Piggies are satisfied! 🐷🐷
Yummy breakfast. Love the thick cut toast 🙌🏼 I had the smashed avo with poached eggs; mum had the chorizo scrambled eggs. A little more chorizo would have been good, otherwise a yum breakfast. Nice warm outside area, which was nice on a cold Sunday morning. Worth a try ✔️
This place has an amazing vibe about it.
It's a little cafe but a perfect little location in South Yarra and close to the station which is a bonus when you need to get on a train quickly.
I had an amazing experience here the customer service and staff were amazing and so friendly, it makes it feel very welcoming.
The food was also really good as well. Even though I did order a very simple and easy meal but I still loved it.
I definitely recommend coming here
Welcome back to Cards and Cafés! After putting SOS (Save Our Souls) on my list many months ago, I finally went and it was AMAZING!! This is definitely one of my new favourite cafés in Melbourne and definitely one of the best in the South Yarra area (in my opinion).....

Love this place! Staff was so friendly, and food was delicious. We got the smashed avo and the acai bowl! Acai bowl was delicious but not as filling as I would have hoped. Will definitely be back
Atmosphere was not great, the food and service were good. We had the tiramisu pancakes and primal plate. Pancakes by themselves were a bit bland but mixed with everything else they were delicious. The primal plate was nice, very filling but the portion of pumpkin was a bit much. The coffee wasn't too bad either.
For the mums and dads out there. This cafe used to be kid friendly with a kids menu but they got rid of it. Your toddler has the option of toast with condiments/eggs or you could go with the various long rolls they have with with different stuffings.
They have two high chairs. There's space for prams outside (two steps you have to go up which is manageable) and inside if you're on the big table in the middle you'll have pram space.
It's fine to sit outside during winter, they have heaters.
I have been a few times only because it's local and convenient as a mum. The menu is typical with your usual acai bowls, smashed avo etc, I recommend the crispy chicken burger or tiramisu pancakes.
The staff are ok, but not like other local cafes I go to where I've built rapport with the staff and have genuine conversations. These ones keep to themselves, tbh the vibe is that they don't want to be there.
We are visitors from Sydney and came here to try the famous tiramisu pancakes. They certainly lived up to their hype! If you're on the edge of getting them or not, I definitely recommend you get them. And the amazing part is, trust me, you wouldn't even know that it's a gluten/dairy free dish at all! The service wasn't amazing but they were pretty busy so it was understandable. Must visit SOS in Melbourne purely for the pancakes. And they have a great big breakfast too.
Service was very good and attentive. Coffees were quick but cold on arrival (tip - order extra hot). Happy to make alterations to our meals. Great selection of raw treats. Split the bill :) Happily return when the menu changes next!
Been here twice and the haloumi fritters are really good! The hipster bowl was okay and the smoothies are too sweet. Overall a pretty good cafe.
Not entirely vegan, but a few vegan friendly options. Would love more vegan options (even a vegan friendly option of the pancakes!) or being able to make veg options vegan-friendly by subbing ingredients for something else, not losing ingredients but paying the same price. That would be so good :) Love that there are healthy menu items.
I had the muesli pot with vanilla icecream, they use Zebra Dream which was amazing. I think it's an old menu item!
The cafe is easily accessible and in a somewhat hidden spot, great for studying.

This place has a European ambience. The water fountain is a delight to look at when enjoying your meal.
I ordered the green juice - antioxidant rich & anti-inflammatory. My breakfast with black rice and salmon was delicious. Only downfall was, I wanted more!
Such a great selection on the menu, and sensitive to all allergies too. Staff are very attentive and friendly.
I come here often for midweek breakfast catchups and it's a great little cafe - fun and inventive menu, good coffee and good ambiance. Best when you don't have to line up!
The open terrace, tiered fountain and small manicured plants give SOS Café a chic feel, yet views of Toorak Rd conjure a more urban, laid-back (and undoubtedly ‘Melbourne’) vibe. I would recommend the outdoor seating during warmer months for this reason.
The food is purported to be healthy and certainly feels (and looks) like it; vibrant colours suggest fresh, nutritious produce. Myself and others ordered the acai bowl on our first visit here and came to the agreement that it was delicious, with balanced textures and flavours. However the food took some time to arrive, and the service could have been more attentive - it was difficult to flag down a waiter for our order, despite it not being particularly busy.
I will nevertheless be back to try more dishes, and look forward to doing so!
A wonderful breakfast! The café is absolutely beautiful, we enjoyed our breakfast in the early morning sun. We both couldn't go past the Tiramisu Pancakes and they did not disappoint. It was even served with a maple syrup ristretto, maple syrup and coffee together is genius! The coffee was great and service was quick and informative. We got there early and it wasn't that busy but we walked past an hour or so later and the place was full. Overall a great breakfast experience.
Save Our Souls. That’s exactly what SOS Cafe does through their offering of organic, gluten-free and refined sugar-free food options, specialty coffee by Sensory Lab, and healthy smoothies. On a warm and sunny Melbourne day, with a water fountain out the front, SOS Cafe exudes a beachside vibe in an urban environment. Equally suitable for activewear-clad customers visiting for a Sunday brunch as well as nearby office workers seeking a quick take-away lunch.
Best coffee in Melbourne. Delicious organic food. The scrambled eggs with chorizo was awesome. Friendly attentive wait staff aswell. Highly recommend it!
Stopped by SOS for brunch, I had the tiramisu pancakes - gluten free pancakes layered with cashew cream, pistachios, banana, cacao nibs, espresso cream and maple syrup ristretto. It was also topped with strawberries, it was certainly nice and not too sweet either, however, I feel like it needed more berries, it was quite nutty in flavour from the cashew cream. The granola was really pretty, and so green, a nice different take on granola from the standard berries!
This is great. The outdoor seating is bright, breezy yet well sheltered and good for people watching. The primal plate was excellent, and the menu is full of healthy but still interesting and tasty sounding options. The "naughty and nice" smoothie was perfect and I will definitely return.
Fantastic service! We did the bottomless brunch and the team were attentive to our cocktails to ensure they were flowing free. Phenomenal price for what you get and all in the heart of South Yarra. The brunch dishes were delightful and healthy serves too (to soak up the alcohol content no doubt). Will definitely be back!
Food was absolutely fantastic. Large portions. Beautifully presented. The primal breakfast was the best pick. Lashings of avocado bacon and caramelised pumpkin. The kransky was perfectly cooked and the entire dish looked like a garden feast. We sat by the fountain (the furthest spot) and still had good service. Hugely recommended
The grilled calamari and halloumi salad was absolutely delicious!! Tastiest I’ve ever had, would 100% recommend!
The $25 bottomless drinks were pretty good too, but we felt that the service could have been a lot better hence why I have not given 5 stars. The bathrooms/ toilets were also a let down as they were quite dirty and unhygienic and it did not feel clean going in there.
I went to SOS cafe with four others on a Friday evening for the bottomless drinks ($25). It wasn't too busy. I ordered the pumpkin ravioli without mushrooms ($22). It tasted nice but was undercooked. I liked the good range of drink options on the bottomless menu, and our drink orders were taken frequently. The cosmopolitan was not very good, but I recommend the blue lagoon, it tasted like lemonade! Also, our table was rickety...
Great experience. Bottomless brunch was amazing, staff very patient and efficient. Nice food for a very reasonable price.
