Popular Japanese restaurant in the heart of South Yarra. The restaurant had table and chairs with some traditional Japanese tables. We ordered a range of entrees including gyoza, sashimi, agedashi tofu, Nasu dengaku and endamame. For mains we ordered some chicken katsu, teppanyaki beef, soft shell crab, tempura vegetables and deep fried barramundi. All were tasty with relatively generous portions for a Japanese restaurant. The restaurant was well staffed, however, they could have been more attentive.

Loved it here! Food was tasty, and the decor was gorgeous - they had both Western restaurant-style tables and low Japanese banquet tables, as well as a private room in the back for larger gatherings. Lots of vegetarian options on the menu, too.

Location is great, Japanese tables/decor are nice. But the food is pretty average (sashimi in particular was sub-par imo) and while the wait staff are polite, they're not very attentive and getting their attention to order anything is a real challenge. Price is okay at $40 part person for dinner (including a plum wine), but probably won't be back.

Time and time again, this place impresses me. The staff are attentive and courteous and the food is delicious and timely. You won't be waiting long at all!

Went there for lunch and it wasn't a great experience . I was expecting the Japanese iron chef quality as advertised but everything was below average. Wonder if the restaurant is still owned by the Japanese chef
Ordered a two lunch sets , the sashimi and sushi was absolutely awful , sashimi was tasteless and not fresh .
The prawn tempura was served on a plate with napkin underneath and the food sticked on the napkin .
Then the main came , it was the teriyaki beef but it was the Chinese sizzling beef with sprout not Japanese teriyaki beef .

Lovr the way they greet you as you walk in with the Japanese welcome. love sitting at a traditional Japanese table! Will definitely be bringing family and friends here again.

Delicious food and super friendly staff from the wait staff to the chefs. Reasonably priced for the quality and service. This places requires a few visits to appreciate the menu.
