A beautiful restaurant in Crown Casino overlooking the Yarra river, Silks is a must try if you are a fan of Chinese cuisine. The food is delicious and very authentic, further accentuated by fresh ingredients. It’s always a pleasure dining here, despite the price (trust me, it’s worth it!).
Quality Chinese cuisine with a view!
The high ceilings and windows provided a wonderful open atmosphere with a spectacular view of the Yarra river.
Enjoyed great dining experience thanks to lovely and attentive staff.
The cocktail menu is rather impressive with so many I wanted to try. The highlight would definitely be the trio dumplings, in particular the scallop dumpling. The sautéed lobster with egg was definitely unique and tasteful, and of course my favourite also was the Peking duck which was very tender.
Thank you for a great experience.
If you’re wanting to eat Cantonese in Melbourne, go here. Vastly superior to Flower Drum, with a nice view overlooking the water and a relaxed unhurried atmosphere. The crab meat and egg drop corn soup was flavoursome, served at the right temperature and a very good commencement. The lobster spring rolls were fantastic, serving as a very good accompaniment. Moving on, the honey mustard crispy pork and marinated bbq octopus were served and the taste was nice, be aware the octopus is served cold and the pork is served lukewarm. The highlights for me were both main courses, comprising the black Angus tenderloin with sautéed spinach in black bean and the scallops enrobed in prawn mince. The beef was cooked to perfection whilst the black bean wasn’t overpowering. The scallops were just fantastic and a must order. The meal was finished with a typical banana fritter which didn’t go astray, and the Piero SSB was a nice bottle to have along with the meal. Great way to spend an unhurried lunch or dinner overlooking the Yarra from Level 1.

Easy booking online and was fully booked. There was sessions about 6pm for 2 hours.
The serving was sensational and very professional.
The atmosphere is what you feel from the movie “crazy rich Asians”.
The barramundi was fresh. Peking Duck was a bit average. Over all a great experience . Meals were expensive cost about $300 for 4 dishes.
I loved eating at this place. Had 100% quality table service, along with great asian food for yum cha. Kudos to the waiter who kept refilling my water before I drunk it all. I highly recommend, my favourite dish was the chicken siu mai dumplings or the served vegetables.
The staff here are quite friendly and easygoing. The atmosphere here is really nice. it’s a beautiful restaurant and great for families, couples or even friends to feel comfortable in.
the food comes out quickly and it’s amazing. Worth the price. I love this place and I would love to go again and again.
Great place for business or meetings. It’s not very loud and the waiters/waitresses are very attentive.

Fantastic service from beginning to end. We decided to go with the $148 tasting menu.
The oysters were very fresh. I particularly enjoyed the dumplings - the skin was perfect and translucent. The sauce of the king prawn noodles was delicious. The steak was perfectly cooked and very tender.
Overall, a fantastic experience with beautiful views of the riverbank.
I and families came for lunch at Silk yesterday to celebrate my husband’s cousin’s engagement. First of all, thumbs up for the waitresses for being professional, polite and warm. They had such light hands in helping us to arrange the Chinese traditional engagement trays full of goods and offered us to take our photos. We had a private dining room with a breathtaking view of Yarra river with the autumn leaves. We have 12 course meals which I attached here along with my review. Majority of us agreed the stars of the day were the stir fried Japanese scallops and scallop with minced prawn, followed by the pecking duck whose portions were generous. We also love the fried bean curd with mushroom. Overall, it was a pleasant family dining experience and I would like to recommend this restaurant for families who have special occasions to celebrate, or may simply want to have a catch-up over a good food and ambience. Well done, Silk team.
High end Chinese restaurant. It has got the best decor, wonderful view and attentive friendly service. It may not suit for everyday lunch or dinner 😜 as price is matching the high end too . Definitely worth a try .
Silks at Crown. One of the best Chinese restaurants in Melbourne. Highly recommended for business dinner. It is a bit pricey for casual dining. Food is good and good service with great ambience.
Have visited silks twice so far and loved both experiences! I had the yum cha menu both times. Highlights for me were the egg tarts, congee and pan fried pork dumplings.
The setting, food and service at Silks is worth the investment of dining there, and it is a significant investment. The photos will show and describe what we ate. Everything course was very good quality food, prepared and presented very well. Pick of the night was the lobster sang choy bow. So good. I didn’t like the dessert because I don’t like coconut or jelly and the dessert was coconut jelly. I thought the glasses it came in were a bit standard and plain too given the other dinnerware was so beautiful (see photo of ornate place setting). But they presented it nicely in the glass just the same. The service was fantastic. The waiters were very attentive. I would return to try some different dishes next time.
We enjoyed a few mains shared in one of the nicer restaurants in Crown. The Roasted Peking Duck wrapped was very good, the duck being succulent and juicy. Our black angus beef with asparagus & black pepper was tender and a delightful dish. The only minor disappointment was the scallops enrobed in prawn mince, it was lightly battered and not everyone’s preference. Dessert was an excellent Angel in Love ice cream (Mövenpick) or Almond coated banana fritters with butterscotch, vanilla bean ice cream.
Excellent service all night, was very pleased with our dinner at $65 per head. 4.5/5
Wonderful experience and food. Love all staff members and customise service for company! :) thousand of thanks! We definitely back again. Specially event function.
Nice view, very good crispy pork and roast duck, but the steamed oysters are little bit salty and the braised pork is a bit dry. Staffs were very friendly
Have been here three times over the last few years! I love dining here, specially when we get to see the city view!
Though I have always enjoyed the entire experience, I have been a but disappointed with the food (vegetarian)!
If you are looking for a very high end experience, then this is the place to go to!
Great atmosphere! Beautiful restaurant. Loved fine dining. Absolutely loved and enjoyed the food. Very authentic Chinese food. Extensive wine and drinks menu, dessert was amazing. Great customer service. Would definitely recommend!
Very high quality food in lovely setting. I would highly recommend Silks. The roast duck is a stand out and the prawn spring rolls! Will be back
This is my second visit to Silks and I just love this place. This is a fantastic Premium Fine Dining place. I had organized my birthday with my friends a group of 10 and loved the service / care the staff provided us. The interior & ambience is impeccable. Coming to Food we ordered Spicy Calamari, Springrolls, Peking Duck, Enoki Mushroom Dish, Prawn Dumplings & Sanchow Bow. We also ordered some cocktails & beers too. ( Love their Virgin Mary) The main were served after giving a considerable gap between the first course. For mains we ordered- FriedRice, Mapo Tofu, Mushroom and Beancurd Dish, black beans sauce pepper chicken..
I couldn't complain about any dish. They all were so good.
To end it of they presented my birthday cake with Sparkles and a birthday song. I just felt so loved. Thank you once again. We will surely be back!
Have frequented Silks a number of times and the food never disappoints. Staff are always attentive and pleasant and the ambience is just a notch above most restaurants in their league.
We dined on the Lobster “Sung Choi Bao”, which I think Silks has been serving for close to 20 years. Always exceptional. Crystal skin prawn dumpling, Prawn and chicken siu mai, Vegetarian jade dumpling were perfectly steamed and extremely tasty. Roasted Peking duck pancakes, the best I’ve ever had. Riverine beef tenderloin sautéed with honey black pepper, crispy cloud ear with fried rice to finish. If I only knew how to get beef that tender, I would cook this for myself! Fantastic experience all round, and look forward to dining there again.
Been back to Silks multiple times for yumcha, all the dishes are prepared to order but definitely worth the wait 😋😋 Some may complain it's about $2-3 more per item compared to other yumcha, but you are paying for better quality and atmosphere definitely worth the $$ especially if you wanna impress some with affordable budget 😉😉
Highly recommended the lobster dumpling 😍😍
Best mango pudding in Melbourne ❤️
Best yumcha in melb!!
A very luxurious and well served meal!
We had a large group and the service for all of us was spectacular. We had window facing tables, so had the CDB and the gas torches for a view.
The food was well presented and served. Small gaps, like no sauces with the dim sum, were quickly resolved and never repeated.
The crispy Peking duck is amazing as are their mussels. The Ma P.O. tofu lacked flavour.
The best item to eat was the truffle fries rice! Incredible!!
Worth it if you want an exclusive Chinese meal experience
Naturally being in crown it's more expensive compared to the other Chinese restaurants around yet the service and food is only marginally better if not the same. Spacious seating it is perfect for special occasions or business meetings wouldn't come for any other reason.
Fine dining with my relatives.
All of their food are in small portion however they service pretty slow so it kinda makes us feel full at the end.
Good services, super nice food and definitely will go again!
Now this is premium fine dining. I had organised to come for dinner with 5 of the girls for my birthday and they started us off with a complimentary round of champagne. Talk about classy memorable service. They finished the night by bringing me out a little cake with a happy birthday plaque, the staff were impeccable!
The interior and ambiance is the definition of resplendent; gorgeous cutlery, beautiful views, soft traditional music and an authentic Chinese decor. The opulent tent is something quite special and unique and makes this a perfect place for a special occasion.
Cantonese is not my favourite cuisine as I tend to find it more understated (read bland) than the more punchy bolder flavours of other Asian cuisines like Thai or Vietnamese but this was really elegant and delicate refined food. I had the crispy chicken with honey walnuts which was truly delicious and the stunning setting really elevated the experience. The crystal skin prawn dumpling were also exquisite. A must visit at least once
Opulent setting with a large private Mongolian tent in the middle. Food is cooked well, especially the live seafood. The entrees, especially the crab shell is cooked well and delicately balanced. Service is very attentive and have a good knowledge of the wine list. Downside is the price- very expensive for food which you could probably get for 30% cheaper in other Chinese restaurants.
Would return on special occasions and if you want to avoid the other loud Chinese restaurants around town.
DO: The yum cha special on weekdays. Order the noodles and dumplings.
DON'T: Be afraid to ask for extra food, we ordered an extra lobster dumpling.
TIP: Sit near the window and go at lunch on a weekday - no line and no reservation required. It's absolutely chocca block on weekends
Went here for yum cha, amazing food, dumplings was so fresh and delicious. One of the best yum Cha's I've ever had, definitely recommend.
Highlights were the lobster dumplings, crab dumplings, pork wontons in chilli oil, chicken feet, scallop siu mai and those fried calamari 👌

The perfect place for a special occasion - this place is exquisitely elegant in its fit out and has impeccable service, but most of all has the most amazing food. My favourite restaurant in Melbourne - and my favourite dish would have to be the lobster with garlic (worth the pennies)
Always delicious Cantonese dishes and great service! Their seafood stir fry is a must - fresh large prawns and scollops with the freshest veggies! Another must have is their Peking duck - the thin handmade pancakes are one of the best I've had in Melbourne! We used to come here every Chinese New Year but decided against it as the menu has gotten ridiculously expensive, which is a shame!
Celebrated my Mum's birthday at Silks with the $158.00 banquet. Our seats were by the window so we got a nice view of the river and city landscape. Service was really good at the start as 4 of our courses came our promptly one after another as we finished each. One of the waiters helped us take good photos by the window as well by adjusting the curtains. Unfortunately the service went downhill when we were waiting for our mains which took almost an hour to arrive. By that time, all the diners from larger tables were gone and only tables of two left. My mum told me the chefs probably concentrated on serving the larger tables first then the smaller ones because of the quantity of food. Luckily the night ended well with our desserts as the manager brought each of our mango pudding with mum's one having a candle on it. He sang happy birthday to mum which I found awkward and cute at the same time. He also gave us both complimentary birthday sparklings for us to enjoy with our dessert.
Overall, some of the courses in the banquet were delicious while the others are just good. The courses I enjoyed the most were the Baked Crab Shell, Peking Duck Pancake, Pan-fried Patagonian Toothfish Fillet and Mango Pudding. The other dishes were just good and not that extraordinary. The Coral Trout fillet course could do with some sauce on the side to make it more interesting and delicious. There was a good variety of drinks in the wine list. I enjoyed my Moscato a lot and my mum thinks so to. The interior of restaurant is really nice as there was spacious balcony for people to stand outside for a bit of fresh and the bathroom felt like it was part of a rich person's home. It was a good fine dining experience, but it just needs a little bit of improvement with the service.
Great ambiance and lovely service. The food was of a nice quality and cooked well. We had the lunch banquet where the food was well spaced out and didn't seem to end.. it wasn't bad but nothing was extraordinary..for $88 per person for lunch banquet, I wouldn't say its value for money or a must-try.
Had a business lunch here last Friday. We had a table overlooking the yarra river which was great. The staff were very attentive and foods were quite balanced. Very good place for a lunch meeting.
Great night out
Excellent in every way
But we booked for the 8.30 session and after 10 we were constantly reminded that the kitchen was closing
A bit absurd for this type of restaurant within the casino precinct.
I get that it's at the casino and aimed at a lot of the international big spenders who probably turn to Silks for comfort food. Having said that, I've been here a few times (4-5 years ago) and I remember it to be sooo much better. It was by no means bad, but it was far from amazing. Peking pancakes are pretty awesome which suits me fine. Ordered fresh OJ and had yuk concentrated stuff. Prawns and steamed fish were good. Glad I wasn't paying!
The main reason you'd come to Silks is for the decor. There are not many chinese restaurants in melbourne that looks this good. Understand that 50% of your money is going to the decor.
The food is good to great, and at least the chefs have put some effort in. It's by no means a gourmet restaurant, so don't expect it.
I have a good time everytime I come to Silks, which is to sit tea with the great view of the yarra and eat some reasonably food.
I was going to be gone for a month which meant we had to have a family meal so what better place to have a classy dinner then Silks? The environment is nice, overlooking the Yarra, nicely decorated, high ceilings and easy to talk. The food here is quite expensive with a main costing around $50. We ordered a few dishes and being asian, we have to share.
The quality has severely dropped! I've come to this place maybe twice or thrice and the first two times the food was absolutely delicious. the fried calamari was cooked perfectly, the Mongolian lamb was beautiful with tender pieces of lamb and the sichuan chicken was spicy but delicious which is what we expected given that it was warned to be spicy on the menu. The glass noodles entree was different and the fried rice was a nice accompaniment to our mains. to finish off we had the fried ice cream which was a nice finish. However, more recently when I visited we ordered the same calamari dish but it was not done well, the portion was definitely halved despite being the same price. The mongolian lamb didn't meet our expectations and lacked in flavour. The only nice dish that came out from our recent visit is the truffled fried rice dish which was the only thing that didn't disappoint us. I'll probably look for another chinese place now that the quality has gone down.
This is the top Chinese restaurant at crown and if you like to entertain vip clients this is the place to go. Superb fitout where modern meets traditional Chinese elements. Not to mention a special Mongolian tent for special events. Food and service are all first class.
We’ve recently had a Canadian join the team at the office, and when we snuck out for lunch one lovely warm Friday, she commented on how intense Lunar New Year celebrations are in Melbourne; compared to what she’s used to in Canada. . Man, can you imagine if she hit up Hong Kong or China?. Although Melbourne’s Lunar New Year celebrations still probably pale in comparison to the homelands, we do a pretty good job.
Great banquets choices surrounded with an amazing view and this restaurant has a balcony for an outside drink.
Menu has a vegetarian option which has dumplings however the corn soup wasn't to my liking as it was too gluey.
For a first timer at Silks and I would go back... But not rushing back.
Silk is the most beautiful chinese restaurant.. we ever seen.. in Melbourne.. We had a table with a very nice view of Melbourne.. At first, we were worried that we would not get tables and with the nice view as well.. but, finally.. we got them.. which is glad.. and Foods were well presented.. and excellent taste.. expensive.. it is.. but it was worth for what you pay.. for a special occasions.. and.. you can chat with no distractions.. because.. the space was huge.. Will come back again..
Perfect service, food, everything! The operator accidentally booked me for silks in Perth... But luckily Melbourne Sills were able to accommodate us and with a beautiful big table with a beautiful view. It was my mother's 60th and gave us complimentary champs. Such a lovely experience!!!
The food is nice here, I wouldn't say spectacular for the price, but I would say always consistent and satisfying. Peking duck my favourite dish
Stunning views both inside and out the high ceiling windows. The food is also excellent and well presented, which is what you expect when paying much more than normal. Nothing that blew me away but also no complaints at all.
Went last Thursday for my wife's birthday. Been here several times. Every time I go it gets more expensive. I find the staff very pushy and at times rude. Look the food is good in fact it's very good, but it's very over priced. Very much a special occasion restaurant but after this visit not sure we will go back. David's in Prahran is much better value and I believe the food is just as good.
Expensive yes. Service could be a little better given the price, thus the score. But the food is extremely good. Whilst I don't get to go as often as I would like is still one of my favourite places
Have been here many times with family.
It is always immaculate.
Their food is beautiful, (peaking duck is so yum!)
They have top French champagnes by the glass which is great and an amazing wine list!

Gold cutlery, gold quality food and gold service provision (by Stanley & Vicky on this occasion) what more could one ask for - a truly five star premium restaurant experience and a credit to Crown. Today I chose the $50 - 2 course special and had a main of pan-fried lamb cutlets with cumin scented abalone sauce & a dessert of a banana fritter, the banana was lightly battered and fried, along with vanilla ice cream & strawberries - absolutely beautiful much to my palates joy. Silks is a restaurant one visits when one wants to feel special. The classical Chinese décor is somewhat unique and is engaging to the eye with comfortable padded mahogany seats. Silks also has a great ambiance with quiet relaxing traditional Chinese (vocal & instrumental) background music.
The Juror's Verdict: Food 5/5, Service Provision 5/5, Will I return: Yes, highly recommend - I love feasting at Silks, and yes to quote Arnie Schwarzenegger "I'll be back".
Phill Jury (food critic & writer)
We went there 2 times for someone's bday.
Quite tiny portion of dishes and not impressive taste....just very ordinary taste of food in posh location (crown complex)
Quality of materials is good but in terms of taste, i just say "ordinary nothing special"
It has great ambience of course with nice view
Spectacular venue, food simply prepared but exceptional quality. Enjoyed the duck, scallops, and rockling. Pricey but felt the part, and well suited for anniversary occasions.
Amazing food with authentic Chinese flavors. Staffs are very nice and offered me a birthday cake. The deco is very grand, a different vibe from most fancy restaurants in Melbourne, but in a good way. Will come back again.
It’s expensive but it’s worth every penny of it. The menu is not a big menu and when you look at it, it really doesn’t show anything too special BUT what I really like is that every dish that was presented on our table was cooked so deliciously. Service of course was great, I means it’s Silks, you’d expect it and they delivered it so no surprise there. Give it a try 😊
We had lunch today with my family in the private dining room and we are very pleased with the excellent service and superb food today. As expected of fine dining places, portions may not necessarily be big but the food is fresh, and the views from the private dining room is fantastic overlooking the yarra river. We are also very pleased with William's service today who has helped us top up our water, tea, wine continuously. Thank you to the team and will be back again!
Had the set menu & everything was delicious! Staff was accommodating and food was great. Our favourites were the baked crab, char siu black cod and wagyu truffle.
Silks is a beautiful Chinese restaurant. Very premium and spacious restaurant with private dining rooms and a large dining area which is well themed. Service is top notch as you'd expect and prompt. Menu is well thought out and the food is just Devine. Probably some of the best dumplings I'm Melbourne and the meats just melt in your mouth. Definitely a place to experience at least once if you can
Pretty good, we had the lobster set menu for lunch $199 per head with a glass of champagne. 9 courses all up. Courses were of good size you won’t leave hungry. All plated up beautifully, the black ink pasta stunning. Lobster a tad overcooked however still delicious.
Sublime meal, excellent service, and breathtaking views. Definitely one of the most expensive meal we've had in a while, but that's where all that entertainment money saved during the last two years was put to good use
My first time dinning at silks and I was blown away with the food and service The layout of the restaurant was beautiful and well thought out.. it’s a great restaurant for a date or that someone special I couldn’t fault the food and service it was perfect
