Had a quick lunch with partner at this Malaysian restaurant. We had hokkien mie and nasi goreng for safe options. Food came out surprisingly quick! Def less than 10mins. Portions are fairly big.
Foods taste wise are pretty good.
Will I be back? Yeah
I've had their Nasi Goreng, Mee Goreng, Fried Rice, Sing Mai, and Hokkin Mee. My favorite is Nasi Goreng. It's a little bit spicy.
I'm quite surprised by the average rating of this place here. I've eaten here a number of times and the food has always been good. They're reasonably quick to fulfill their orders even though there's usually a bit of a queue, and prices are quite reasonable for what you get (certainly much more reasonable than outlets like Papparich whose pricing is just getting more and more outrageous..).
The food comes in a good, filling portion that should satisfy most people, and they aren't stingy with the more expensive ingredients like prawns. I often order the fried rice and the prawns that come with it are also well cooked and plump, along with a pretty good wok taste. The majority of their customers are Asian so that should serve as some testimony to the quality of the Malaysian food served here.
Decent Malaysian food. We ordered the Chicken Rice, CKT and Fried Rice, which we all enjoyed. Will definitely come back again to try other dishes.
This place has the best Laksa I’ve ever had! Their Sayur Laksa (though not strictly vegetarian) is fantastic, with lots of fresh veggies and noodles would recommend!
One of my all-time favourite places to eat. I've eaten dozens of nasi gorengs and nasi rendangs here. An excellent lunch time spot. Cheap, amazing quality and flavours. Staff are always friendly and hard working. Food is always fast. Gluten free options are clearly marked on the menu and are plentiful.
There is not many options of Malaysian food at emporium food hall so we settle for Chinta Ria. Honestly if I would have read the review before hand I wouldn’t attempted to try their food even but I glad I did not check the reviews before hand.
Sing mai - I am an avid lover of fried vermicelli although I have not found a good fried vermicelli in Melbourne yet I have to say Chinta Ria sing mai came very close to one. Will definitely return for that.
Kelantan fish - nothing out standing about this dish but still tasted great. The heat from chilli is good. There is good balance between the chilli and sweet but Not sure if it should be more sour than what was serve.
Char Kuey Teow - I was pleasantly surprise with the amount of wok hei in this. Wasn’t expecting much from CKT that are fried in the food hall kitchen. It is a good CKT.
Will return to try other food on the menu.
Pretty good for food court fare. Have tried the curry puffs (winner winner chicken dinner), beef rendang, chicken curry laksa, and wan tan hor. When in doubt at the emporium food court, will prolly choose to go here.
Surprisingly quite tasty Malaysian food located within the Emporium food court. Big portion size and fairy reasonable price. Friendly and quick service.
Good quality Malaysian and Thai dishes with fresh ingredients (better than typical food court fare). Some of the flavours can be a bit bland (eg roti chanai) and curries if you prefer strong flavours. Service is generally friendly and efficient.
Seafood laksa was quite ample, tasty and just the right bite of spice for me. My roti side was well cooked, crisp on the outside and just about the right gritty firmness inside. This hot dinner on a cold Melbourne winter shared with a brother of my heart tasted even better. No pics though as I just savored the wonderful food experience!
My new favourite place for char koay teow. Always buzzing and full of customers and can be quite difficult to find a spot to sit as it is located in a food court. The dish I ordered here originally is seafood based but you can ask to substitute it for beef. It is a value for money and a great place to visit for Malaysian dishes.
I went for lunch here today. I was really looking for some good laska and having been here before I knew that this place was quite ok.
The service was really friendly and quick. I had a chicken laska, and it took no time to come out even though the restaurant was busy. My laska had a good flavour, although it didn't contain much spice which was what I was hoping for.
The chicken was dry, but still alright, and overall this was not the best laska that I've had and it certainly wasn't the worst one that I've had. It was a pretty simple dish, with a few egg and rice noodles and lots of sliced beans and a bit of fried tofu.
It was a reasonable dish overall. But I may not rush back haha
Oh yeah baby this place is now my best curry laksa location. Char Koay Teow noodles was the bomb. Only the roti was no good dry, flavourless and too crispy but the chicken curry was great maybe a bad batch. Will go back and try the other dishes.
Pretty good for a food court meal. My go to is the hokkien mee. They pack in a little bit too much noodles and it could do with some more greens. But overall cheap and tasty.
Found a great place for Ipoh Wat Tan Hor (IWTH) $12.90 when I have craving for it. It has the 'Wok' hei and generous serving of seafood and chicken. Quick and cozy modern ambience at Emporium food court. Will return for sure for IWTH. I asked them to add extra garlic and spring onion for extra kick..
One of the busiest outlets in the Emporium cafe court, and with good reason. Great mee goreng and curry laksa.
Had the nasi goreng which is kinda hard to go wrong with when you just need some comfort food. For $11 it's all good! Will be back to try the roti and curry.
This Chinta Ria Soul is a foodcourt version of their St Kilda restaurant, which I haven’t yet had a chance to visit, but am keen to as I always am up for some decent Malaysian food to remind myself of my roots. The menu is Malaysian styled and is pretty befitting of the location (the Emporium food court) with the dishes coming out fast and of good quality.
I dont understand this rating this place is awesome the singh mai is the stand out plus all the laksas are off the chain if you care about your stomach put tgis in it its the best in the west
The Hoikken Mee noodles are the best! Much flavour. Very satisfied. Yum. 👌🏽
If you like the taste of Mi Goreng this dish will blow your mind. Kind of. Also, if you wear light coloured clothing prepare yourself because the flavourism sauce will jump onto them. 😭
Haven't tried the other dishes because these noodles are life.
Wait time during lunch time is longer than normal but worth it! 🙌🏽
I've come here a few times. Service is really friendly and prompt. The food is made fresh to order and is tasty. I recommend the laksa or nasi rendang. Very flavourful dishes!
The hainanese chicken rice with chicken soup was authentic and delicious. The chicken was very tender and of a good portion size. The garlic chilli sauce was great to compliment the chicken rice but I think it would have been excellent if the shop included a ginger spring onion sauce as well. The chicken rice was perfectly cooked.. so overall a very satisfying meal and reminded me of South East Asia.

There is a very limited vegetarian menu here, but I appreciated the fact that the staff were very clear on what items could be adapted to be vegetarian friendly. One such dish was the mee goreng, which I chose. The staff made sure to check whether oyster sauce and egg was acceptable. I told them oyster sauce wasn't, so they omitted this item. The noodles were very tasty, and whilst I had only a few options, I couldn't fault them for taste.
Busy busy busy, but this place churns out dishes like no tomorrow and whilst you have to wait, it doesn't take too long. You can also request vegetarian for a variety of dishes like I did for the Mee Goreng (no chicken).
Still has plenty of taste and a nice variety of Malaysian dishes here. I've previously had the laksas, hor fun, char kway teow and others, so recommend this place to others.

The seafood laksa was pretty tasty and was loaded with lots of goodies. Plump-sized prawns, coils of calamari, reasonably thick slices of fishcake, crunchy snake beans and big puffy fried cubes of tofu. Slurp-worthy noodles.
Chinta Ria Soul is an outlet in the Emporium gourmet food court specializing in Malaysian food. Prices are on the slightly higher side for Malaysian, but understandable for the premium location. I'm a huge fan of their Mee Goreng, which is a traditional Indian-Malaysian stir-fried egg noodle dish with egg, tofu and prawns. I often ask for it done spicy (as it should be in Malaysia) and haven't been disappointed to date. The noodles are fried at high heat with plenty of "wok breath", the spicing and chilli at sufficiently authentic levels and the servings generous. I haven't tried their other dishes but judging from what I've seen, most of their fried noodle dishes look rather impressive.
Without a doubt the best laksa in Melbourne. I've tried Laksa King, Pappa Rich, Noodle World, etc. but this is the place I keep coming back to.
Had the Hainanese Chicken rice. The dish was quite flavoursome but needed the garlic chilli to really complete the dish. I found the portion size quite large and struggled to finish this. Considering I would probably share this with another person in the future I found this to be a quite reasonable meal. Hopefully they will have chilli.
Love it and have eaten there many times. Never disappointed. Love the laksa, roti and char kuay teow.
It's merely food court Malaysian. In a lot of places where I've lived, particularly Florida and the Midwest in the United States, I would have been THRILLED to find a place like this Chinta Ria Soul stall in the Emporium food court. Laksa! Beef rendang! All sorts of Malaysian dishes! It would have SO blown away the boring Anglo food in those places. But after spending the past nine years in Melbourne and Vancouver, Canada, where there are lots of authentic Malaysian eateries, this place rates a "meh."
The nasi lemak with rendang that I got as a takeaway from here wasn't BAD, just average. The beef was pleasant, tender, not fatty, more of a coconut milk vibe to the flavour than hot spices. There wasn't a lot of it, though, and it didn't measure up to what's served at Uleg on Sydney Road in Brunswick, which is my favourite rendition of rendang. The accompaniments on top of the rice were also sparse; albeit tasty. The only thing that was plentiful was the rice. This had as much rice as some don bowls I've had from low-cost Japanese joints. The price, $13.90, did not represent a good value for what I got. Maybe it comes across better on eat-in dishes, and the Chinta Ria in St. Kilda gets a lotta love on Urbanspoon. But to me, this spot is just another food court nothingburger.
they are really busy also love how everyone love malaysian food. i have the Wah Tan Hor, they made it pretty quick, the flavour was there. but im sure hey can do better.
may come to try some other thing next time
good hokkien noodle they serve, it is worth a try, kind and friendly staff
Always loved their rendang. Sometimes it's great, other times just good but always makes me happy. Feels like the size of the roti serve is going down. Shrinkflation?
Reliable source of tasty laksa. Rich Thick mildly spicy soup and noodles. Chicken and seafood options good. Generous serves.
REASONABLY GOOD AND AUTHENTIC MALAYSIAN CUISINE BUT SLOW SERVICE
Update 23 December 2020
Food now served in plastic bowls and disposable cutlery due to covid. Laksa soup and noodles provided separately and not quite the same as preasembled dish:(
This place is a very popular choice in the Emporium food court and has typically Malaysian dishes.
Food quality is good and the serving size is quite generous.
My favourite is char kway teow. The menu offers only seafood version but they are happy to make the beef version that I prefer.
Laksa is good. Roti is tasty and flaky.
I eat there infrequently because it takes so long for them to prepare your meal... This is a double edged sword because the individual preparation that takes time also means its better tasting than food kept in a bain marie!
The food court is always really crowded on weekends so you may struggle to find a table. Fortunately the outlet provides you with a buzzer to let you know when your food is ready so you can use the time you need to wait for the food productively looking for a table!
Delicious Chicken Laksa and nice Char Kway Teow. The roti was decent but the peanut sauce was quite oily. I wish the CKT had more Char but good for indoor food court.
