I have been eating the pho and spring roll regularly. I am happy with it. Some of the negative review might because they had a change in ownership
Today I got a copy of the menu and there is no $12 pho as the other reviewer said So I believe that there might be some misunderstanding.
With the current COVID-19 situation they are still open for take away but I am not sure about dine in because the regulation keeps changing
The way I see it, please call ahead for takeaway and help the local business in this trying time
Our local pho spot was closed so we found this little gem, the pho was amazing so much flavour and so authentic can’t wait to go back and try some other items on there menu.
Highly recommend there pho 👍🏻
The strike rate of 5/5 places near this corner was already ridiculously high, and this is now another one. Ridiculous. They're my locals so I'm totally ok with it.
This place has really improved since it first opened. I dare say there's been a change of ownership because from memory it never blew my socks off, but now, socks well and truly on the other side of the room. Quality pho & and the rice dishes are a good quantity for only $11 or so.
I only ever have the Pho. Probably the best pho in south Melbourne. A lot of other reviews seem to be complaining about he price, but then again this is South Melbourne. Good portions, they don't skimp on the shoots and basil. Authentic taste, friendly staff, never too crowded
Had a delicious bowl of beef & chicken Pho from here today. Good size and with plenty of chilli/basil/lemon/bean sprouts on the side. Great value for $11. Would eat here again. Friends ordered similar and also stir fried dishes that looked and smelled great. Good, polite and efficient service to boot.
I ordered the pork chop. It was surprisingly very yummy and home-y. The place itself is not fancy but quite cosy.
Best for quick lunch or as a gathering place with friends.
I always order chicken special pho and it is always nice. The owner is so friendly and service is good too. In this area, this restaurant is pretty good!
Walked into this place for a Friday lunch and tried the BBQ pork on rice and did not go too bad. Definitely this place is nothing outstanding or memorable but the food is not bad. Portions were generous and food came out fairly quick. The place is well looked after. Maybe I should try a pho next time, I will definitely be back if I'm looking for a homemade type of meal.
I went last Friday night and had the most amazing beef pho. We were upset at being unable to get a table at peko peko. But in the end - I was glad we ended up at this great little cafe. Best $11 I have spent in my life! I can't wait to go back.
Yummy!! Local Chicken Pho Lover & I can honestly say I do know my Pho soup ( 20year expert 🙊😜) the portion is way more than the previous owner & the broth isn't fatty or too sweet - the right combination !! Great quality chicken less fat & very happy to be a regular again. Small increase $1.00 but, prefer quality anytime 🙏🏻👏🏻👌🏻✌🏻️
Came here with a couple of friends last week and got the beef pho. A little pricier than usual Vietnamese restaurants, but food was fairly good. Pho was tasty, beef was fresh, portion was decent. Would definitely give it another visit.
Ordered the Pho combination and surprisingly the broth was quite tasty.
I expected a lot more noodles and meat considering I ordered a large ($15). Taking away the broth, I’d say the serving is equivalant to a medium in a Richmond \ Footscray pho restaurant.
I’d definitely come back to try the other dishes
Craving pho and with only 2 vietnamese places in the area, I decided to give this place a go. Their lunch menu seems to be a cut down version of their main one and I was a little disappointed that for a place with "Pho" in its name, there were only 3 options - sliced beef, combo beef (is this the same as "special" elsewhere?) and chicken. When it came out, there was a lot of soup but not much noodles (for $11 a bowl, surely it wouldn't eat too much into profits to top this up a little?) . Although it didn't appear to have much beef in it either, the beef amount was decent. Considering I normally order a small, if it's an option, the serving size was perfect for me. That said, all pho, for me, is about the soup and this one was nice and salty and full of flavour. I'd come again when I next crave pho during lunch, but wouldn't go out of my way to come here.
I was here for lunch today having their Special Pho as my colleague highly recommended it knowing I am a big fan of good Pho, after browsing the internet and seeing Daniel Voyce review has prompted me to write this review as I have totally different experiences. I have tried many Pho in Melbourne and this is amongst the best authentic Pho compared to other famous Pho in Footscray, Richmond, Springvale, etc. I have tried the Pho from previous owner and believe me it has been westernised and flavours are blunt not authentic at all, similar to what you can have at other fast chain take-aways like Roll'd.
About 3 weeks ago I came in for dinner with my family and realised they have changed their menu. The price has increased slightly (inflation I guessed?) with more varieties, no longer the old menu same for lunch and dinner, the portion is of standard compared to other restaurants. Like Daniel I did ordered Satay Chicken skewers (typically of me wherever I dined) and it is so delicious, the lettuce is actually there to soften the texture of the spice for some people's liking. Our mains were Special Fried rice for the kids, pork in sweet & sour sauce (yumm..), salt & pepper squid (again yum...), but what really had me was their beef in special sauce, it is so delicious, it has combination of south eastern flavours which you rarely find elsewhere. We ended our meals with a glass of Penfold Bin 138 Shiraz.
I used to work at the nearby building (above BMW )but couldn't find a good eat out, especially when we worked overtime and savours for a great meal. Pho Me Up (previous owner) can satisfy lunch but their dinner isn't great.
Compare to previous management the restaurant is now much cleaner (I know this as my wife is very picky with the cutleries & table cleanliness), the service is now faster (more staffs I guessed?), with same friendly service.
If you are looking for good Vietnamese eat out in South Melbourne this is a highly recommended restaurant. The price is cheap compare to other good Vietnamese restaurants, their service is fast & friendly.
PS. I highly recommend giving yourself more time for queuing during lunch as when I was there today there was lots of people in the queque, but once food is ordered it is quick.
Have been here a good handful of times already in the short month that I've moved into the area. Sliced beef phō is so amazing. Never walk away feeling dissatisfied. Great flavour, and portion size 👌🏽 has become my staple phō restaurant.
We were craving something warm in winter and headed into Pho Vietnam. Ordered the pho with beef slices, as well as vermicelli with grilled pork (bun Cha?). Both were simple and well-executed with reasonable prices and generous portions. We enjoyed our meal!
If you haven’t eaten here, you are missing out. Home style Vietnamese, great flavours across many dishes, great service when eating in and well priced. I have enjoyed every meal I’ve had here.
This is the freshest food, friendliest staff and always lots of care when packaging for takeaway. The sizing is generous and they don’t skimp on the garnishes.
Definitely recommend!
I usually eat the Pho which is truly amazing. The Pho portion size is very generous, I have a big appetite and I sometimes struggle to get through it. If you like hot food ask for the homegrown chilli with the Pho, it packs a nice punch. Tonight I tried the rice paper rolls and sizzling beef with garlic vegetables. They were both delicious. The rice paper rolls came with a tasty satay sauce, highly recommend. Both the sizzling beef and rice were cooked to perfection and the portion size was generous. I will continue to come here, they owners are very friendly and it is a great local business.
Great food, quick and easy, some delicate dishes which are divine. Love the quail, Pho, Beef in Vine leaf and there's a whole menu to choose from.
Super good for the price, good portions and tasty. Can’t go wrong
Delicious and fresh food with fair prices. Highly recommended. Always love Vietnamese pho, this the best one.
Comfort Vietnamese-Chinese cuisine in a relaxed setting. The chicken Pho had this broth that is closer to wonton soup broth as opposed to the traditional pho. The grilled pork was tender, juicy, a little sweet and goes well with the fish sauce.
