No doubt what attracted me to Park St Dining were the creatively presented dishes on their Instagram page. My first choice were the Beehive Waffles which was loaded with different components, honey comb shaped waffles, meringues shaped like beehives, freeze dried orange slices, chocolate soil, corn flakes, yuzu curd, grilled lemon, popping boba and a tiny jar of honey from Melbourne City Rooftop Honey. Although the waffles appear small in photos they're actually rather decent-sized when you take into account all the sides. The waffle itself had a thin crispy outer, with a super fluffy inner. The dish was a fusion of sweet, tangy and sour. By the third waffle it did get too sweet for me!

Love the revamp and change here at park street. The food was colourful, fun and delicious. There was roughly a 30 minute wait for the food, however I appreciated the friendly staff updating me on the progress of the meal.

Staff were super friendly, accommodating and attentive

Would definitely return to try the rest of the menu.

Great spot for young children with the outdoor park and shelf of books and toys to entertain.

If food could be framed as art, then the amazing dishes at Park St Dining would definitely hanging in a gallery somewhere. Showing similar aesthetics and flavour combinations as it's sister cafe The Glass Den, this Carlton North cafe is a fantastic spot for an exciting brunch. It is a large space that backs onto a park. Beautiful wooden furnishings, lots of greenery and fabulous lighting add to the cool ambience. The touches are all modern, but it's still a comfortable and welcoming space. This could have a lot to do with the lovely and friendly staff, who although busy, still made time to chat and explain the menu.

Now to that menu. Fantastic coffees are on offer, including beetroot and tarro lattes, and coffee is Code Black. All were delicious, and I particularly liked the tarro which I hadn't tried before. The menu itself has a bunch of different styles of Benedict, other items, and then sweeter options. Our choice of Benny was the pork belly, and this came plated in a very elegant way. The pork was tender with crispy skin, and was gently spiced. Roasted and pickled onions were an amazing addition, and the two poached eggs were gorgeous. The pork sauce had a fabulous spice and this was unlike any Benny I've ever experienced. The potato hash base was phenomenal, with plenty of flavour and a great texture.

With so many fabulous dessert options, we started with the Pitaya panacotta. Another visually stunning dish, this pretty pastel dish was summer on a plate. The panacotta was divine, with a great wobble and it came with coconut sorbet, poached pear, crispy meringue, dried lychee, lots of fresh fruit and the daintiest of tuilles. Such a generous portion, and an explosion of freshness. Everything worked so well together, with this dish being perfectly balanced in terms of flavour.

Finishing with a bang, we couldn't resist the very Instagrammable beehive waffles. Unlike any other waffles I've had in the past, these honey waffles were light as a feather with a crispy crust. With the perfect marriage of honey and lemon, this amazing plate had so many elements, but they all worked in harmony with each other. A zingy lemon curd, mini meringues, buttercream, cookie crumble, toffeed corn flakes, fresh kiwi, dried orange and a cute pot of honey all highlighted the waffles, and again, this dish was a visual masterpiece. It's clear that the kitchen staff love to play around with creativity, proving that food doesn't have to be boring.

I had such a fantastic time at Park St, and was blown away by the innovative dishes, fun atmosphere and fabulous service. The cafe was full on a week day morning, so it would seem that it is quite popular, and I only wish that this was my local. However, a cafe this good is worth travelling for, even if it's just to experience it at least once.

Park St Dining has recently changed hands and is now a sister cafe to Insta-favourite The Glass Den. The venue itself is super spacious and gorgeous, with some additional seating out back facing th local children’s playground.

The relationship to The Glass Den is immediately evident in the menu which is similarly laid out with a core section of benedicts, some other all day breakfast menu items on top and anchored with sweets at the bottom.

We went as a group and had a range of dishes including
🥕 Heirloom Dutch Carrot benedict ($20.50)
🐖 Pork Belly benedict ($21.50)
🐝 Beehive Waffle ($23.50)
💙 Lavender Blueberry Ricotta Hotcakes ($22.50)
💕 Pitaya Pannacotta ($18.50)

The beehive waffle is one of the most unique and stunning dishes I’ve seen, every element is so well thought out the the waffles themselves are super light and crispy. A must order if you like honey! The blueberry ricotta hotcakes are also delicious and I love that the flavours are balanced so that the dish is not too sweet. The pork belly Benedict is also a must order - the pork is melt in your mouth delicious, super well seasoned and pairs perfectly with the rosti.

They also do these awesome “ball planet” drinks where you melt the ball with warm milk and mix together to drink. The taro ball has such a rich and delicious flavour - would definitely order this again. Coffee is from Code Black and delicious too.

Overall a wonderful cafe and I’m excited to see what else the chefs come up with!

This is a big cafe with a large courtyard, perfect for a hot summer day.

I ordered a strong skinny latte which had a good flavour, a nice amount of froth and it wasn’t too hot. Yummo lol

Food wise I ordered Ocean Trout w wilted greens; poached egg, shiitake broth and fried shallots. The ocean trout was cooked perfectly. It was so tasty, and it just melted when I ate it.

The broth was delicious, so much so I had it all. This was a light dish, bursting with flavour, well seasoned and a total treat.

My friend ordered a crispy pork belly bun, pickles, fermented green chilli and coriander. This burger had a large piece of crispy pork belly, the bun was good and the burger was smashed in no time lol

This place is definitely worth a visit. It’s right next to a busy push bike track so if you don’t want to drive although parking is plentiful, maybe you could ride?
Or tram it? Or walk hahaha

Thanks to the owners for inviting us.

Park St is ownered by the brains behind Bomba (Bomba rooftop) in the city. Here they have created a light and airy eatery that has a wonderful vibe from the moment you walk in. There are plenty of varying table sizes to choose from, most with a great view of the park. Family friendly with a kids play area just outside and outdoor seating perfect for cyclists to stop at along the cycle path.

The menu offers the usual staples and some more exotic options with a slight asian twist or influence. Today we chose one of each. The open hanger steak sandwich and the ‘exotic’ octopus legs with kipfler potatoes and poached eggs.

On the octopus dish, the kipfler potatoes worked magically with poached eggs and yuzu sauce, a really creamy combination, the octopus legs had a cracking marinade and really lifted this dish. As a side note I found these poached eggs full of flavour, the yolk was delicious and it reminded of how eggs use to taste!

The open hanger steak sandwich was tender strips of well cooked hanger steak. Flavoursome with a oyster sauce which soaked through the bread and a mayo that I was just dying to dip my hand cut chips into. This was the kind of steak sandwich the dads of Melbourne would approve of.

Coffee was served nicely hot and was quite a bitter blend and free sparkling water tap water was a nice touch.

I made the journey across town to meet up with a local friend as well as check out this cafe I was invited to. The space had a couple of iterations before it, Green Park and before that St Ali. It's very spacious with natural light beaming in and is conveniently located to the Captial City bike trail. It is also dog friendly (outdoor dining area) and kid friendly (neighbouring playground).

We start off with a couple of lattes which hit the mark in strength, texture and flavour. My friend mentions that he grabs a coffee here now and again but it's his first time dining in.

Firstly the menu looks very exciting. The barramundi burger was probably the best fish burger I've ever had. Perfectly flaky and hot with a crispy skin, toasty bun, papaya and herb salad for freshness. My friend really liked the chili jam and wondered what went into it, apparently too many to name (15 ingredients). The finger lime to the side was squeezed on top of the fish which gave the burger some pops of sourness.

We also shared a smoked eel omelette which was very well cooked, not too rubbery and not too runny. The pieces of eel were delicate and buttery and melded nicely with the omelette. If it were me I'd plate the full eel on the sourdough to retain its juiciness and some extra XO on the side (I love XO sauce), nonetheless it was a solid dish.

Haven't been this impressed with brunch offerings recently, you know it's good when you can't decide on what to choose. Adding Asian influences on brunch offerings sometimes does not execute well but this was delightful. Thanks for having me.

Came here for breakfast. Poached and scrambled eggs were cooked nicely and served on tasty sourdough bread. Coffee was delicious. The ambiance was nice- they have definitely improved the acoustics which meant that we could enjoy our meals and each other’s company!

4.6. As @Bearabbit observes in their recent glowing review, Park St Dining is a delight. This is a five star venue for me too. I’ll add supporting and further observations.

The makeover at PSD is pretty special. We’d been here several times a few years ago. It had become a staid and inconsistent venue on several levels and clearly needed improvement. It was remodelled last September. The space was improved and redecorated markedly. A new menu was developed and a new chef engaged as well. It’s an excellent makeover in every respect. The space used to be too green and was dark and oppressive in spots. It’s since been lightened beautifully with nice artworks added. The revamped venue was gorgeous, light and airy on a lovely Melbourne day today. There was ample light and a light soft breeze wafting in the open back door. There’s a pleasant outdoor area here too that a number of diners were enjoying. Add nice music on the sound system and it all felt great. And, it is genuinely a place for everyone. There were people and kids of all ages and styles here enjoying themselves today.

We came for lunch. I started with an exceptional Bloody Mary. This was as good a one as I’ve ever had. First, it was fantastically decorated with a soft green pepper, a slice of cucumber and several cocktail onions. All of these were delicious on their own as well as with the drink. This Bloody Mary was sooo good. Rich and beautiful with fantastic spice. Perfectly composed. It was slightly fiery but not OTT unlike some overseas ones I’ve had in recent times. Australian BMs can be a bit under spiced. This one though was so skillfully balanced. My companion had a Mimosa which was just the right tipple to start a lovely summer lunch with.

The all day menu at PSD is excellent. There’s plenty of choice without overdoing it. Many of the usual favourites can be found here with variations. But, there are plenty of innovative and unique dishes too. I wanted to order about three quarters of the dishes on the menu, always a great sign, as they all sounded so good. I ultimately chose ricotta on toast with salsa verde, pickled radishes, lemon myrtle and the house cured Port Lincoln sardines. I added a side of mushrooms as I was peckish after a 16 hour fast. This was a beautiful and delicate dish overall. I loved everything about it. The presentation was super. It looked so elegant and pretty on the plate. The flavours were fabulous too. The delicate radish slices are sprinkled with lemon myrtle. The salsa verde on the ricotta and toast is packed with flavour. Add beautiful and delicate sardines and all of the textures the ingredients offer as well and you’ve got a real winning dish for me. My side of mushrooms worked magnificently with everything too. The mushrooms were cooked beautifully too. I loved this dish. It was excellent and it really was very enjoyable.

My partner chose Jenny’s High Tea with savoury macaroon, Katsu pork sanga and dashi broth. @Bearabbit covers this dish comprehensively so I won’t add more. It is enough to observe here that it is a very special offering.

We finished with a lovely flat white and long black respectively. I need only say that this is super Melbourne coffee.

We had lovely service throughout today. It was being extended to everyone our ambit. Our thanks to Kelly and Park St Dining for the invitation to dine here. The makeover has worked wonderfully. It’s a terrific venue here now at PSD and we recommend it highly to others.

In the latest incarnation of this popular Park St cafe, ex-head chef from St Ali & The Kettle Black brings a new menu with Asian influences.

The menu is quite appealing because there are options that are not commonly found on a typical cafe menu, which is great. There are eggs furikake with sea vegetables, octopus with yuzu hollandaise, smoked eel omlette and a very interesting option called Jenny's High Tea.

* Jenny's High Tea - 2 savoury macarons, katsu pork sanga, dashi broth. The macarons are actually pretty well made - smooth shell, well formed foot, soft crack and a chewy interior. The macarons are actually sweet, but it's filled with a savoury salmon mousse and topped with ikura. Interesting concept but for me, it’s a confusing juxtaposition of flavours.
The dashi stock is a combination of roasted rice green tea and thin slices of dried shiitake mushrooms. Both these ingredients have a very earthy and woody flavour.
The winning part of this dish is the katsu pork sanga - the breading is thin and crisp, and the juicy pork is cut to a nice thickness.
Together, all the elements on the board have a wide contrast in flavours, which (to me) don’t necessarily work well together.

* Miso glazed pumpkin salad – essentially, this is the only vegan dish on the menu, which is a bit dissapointing given where the cafe is located. The pumpkin is nice and soft, but the "crispy" wild rice has soaked up a lot of the light yuzu-soy dressing, which itself is a little overpowering.

My strong latte had a good intensity, with notes of dark chocolate and cereal. The milk was steamed quite tightly, which gave it a velvety texture.

Despite the exploration into fusion-Asian, there are also some great café classics available too, like the awesome bacon butty.
In addition, there is a diner-like bar at one end, so I took the opportunity to have a sangria and bloody mary – perfect weekend boozy brunch.
The vibe of the café feels very chilled and relaxed, but also family oriented with an adjacent playground.
I really like the atmosphere – it’s spacious, bright and right along the capital city trail.

Park St Dining is a delight for both young and old, and anyone in between. There's a playground right next to the outdoor seating area, so you can literally park (pun intended) your kids there and dine in peace.

The menu at PSD showcases a unique Japanese twist to brunch staples, and looking through the menu, I wished that my tummy was a black hole so that I could fit in everything. We finally settled on the octopus leg, and Jenny's High Tea.

The octopus leg came with perfectly poached eggs, and a tangy and creamy yuzu hollandaise. The addition of marrow and capers lent an incredibly delicious savoury and umami flavour to the dish.

Jenny's High Tea was such an interesting dish. It comprised of two savoury macaroons that was filled with smooth prawn mousse and topped with fish roes. I loved the quirkiness of this, but my partner found it a bit fishy. We both agreed that the dashi broth, and pork katsu sanga were amazing. The dashi broth was very flavourful, and the pork katsu sanga excelled in its simple yet flawless execution and flavours.

We couldn't fault the skinny latte, and the house made iced chocolate. Both went down a great with the rich and indulgent chocolate brownie that was served to us at the end of our meal.

While I won't comment on the service as we were invited, but it was obvious that the friendly and charming service was extended to all customers there. Thank you very much for having us!

We were invited to Park st yesterday, so named perhaps for the sizeable playground literally next door which makes this venue perfect for young families. Don’t let it deter the childless though because it is definitely an interesting and unique menu for foodies.

Smoked eel omelette and barramundi burger with finger lime are some examples of the options available that are differentiated from a standard cafe offering. Hubby opted to be boring with fermented chilli scrambled whilst applauding the coffee quality.

I’m more a smoothie fan than a coffee drinker but they didn’t have any of those. What they did have were ‘fizzes’ so I tried the peach and rosemary which was quite enjoyable.

Meal wise I have had a hankering for a steak sandwich for a month or so so was delighted to see that feature on the menu. This was certainly the fanciest and most attractive rendition I’ve seen! The meat was tender and the oyster mayonnaise very flavoursome. Definitely add the side of chips.

We finished with a couple of sweet treats from the cabinet, a chocolate brownie and carrot cake. You’ve gotta treat yourself right?

Park st dining in Carlton North. Thanks for the invite and we had a great time during the lunch time. It is nicely decorated and recently change the menu and has some Japanese fusion into the menu. Grilled eel omelette is my favourite dish and slow cooked lamb is also a must try. Thanks for the watermelon salad. It is so delicious and nice staff with great service. Coffee is also tasty. Definitely my recommended place for brunch.

We were fortune to be invited to Park St Dining for a meal - we chose a Saturday for brunch. Upon entering, we were warmly greeted by the owner who quickly sat us and gave us the menus. It was difficult to choose what to eat as everything looked really good. Ultimately I ordered the brown butter mushrooms, potato, poached duck egg, kale and shiitake powder. My partner ordered the smoked eel omelette, XO sauce, enoki mushrooms, herb salad and sourdough. My dish was delicious! It was light and well-balanced: the nuttiness of the 3 different types of mushrooms and the brown butter complimented the savouriness of the potato crisps and the kale which were also crunchy and gave texture to the dish. The duck egg was cooked perfectly with a runny yolk and gave richness to the dish. My partner’s smoked eel omelette was very interesting: the omelette was fluffy (however I would have preferred it runnier on the inside so it was a little overcooked for me) and the taste of the smoked eel went well with the XO sauce. Who knew it would be a great combo? If I thought the food was good, the coffee was next level good. My iced latte was creamy, soft and aromatic. My partner’s espresso was thick, a beautiful golden colour and aromatic. Just as we thought we were done,
the owner very kindly brought us a rich chocolatey almond brownie to end our meal. I also loved the ambience of the place as it was spacious, bright and airy. The service was top notch too: not only did our food and coffee come out quickly, the waitresses were very attentive and cleared our plates away quickly and asked us if we wanted more coffee. A great place to come to try their Asian-inspired/fusion brunch. Thank you Park St Dining for your kind invite!

Consistently delicious food and coffee with kind and attentive staff! I abandoned my trusty favourites at this place (avocado/kale on toast with poached egg and the barramundi burger) to try something new and I was pretty chuffed that I did. The miso glazed pumpkin and wild rice salad was super tasty and filling with the perfect amount of green. I’ll definitely be ordering it again.

Nice little spot, park for kids close by. Was surprised by how quiet it was. Coffee is spot on. Good, long parking options for longer stays. Ambience and decor very modern. Place was fairly busy, wait staff attentive and service friendly. Salad was very yummy, unlike anything I have had before, corn, eggplant, rocket, potato, capsicum, fennel and beans. Oh and the lamb shoulder very nicely cooked. Would happily recommend to anyone.

I’ve been here countless times, whether it was called St Ali North, Green Park, or Park St, and it has always been very good.

The food is very good, and the coffee is excellent. The service is also excellent, as they’re very accommodating to parents who wait at the little playground next door.

I don’t eat eggs, so I’ve had the food menu items without eggs. Their oriechette pasta is great, but it’s a small-ish dish, so if you’re really hungry, I’d go for something else! He open steak sandwich was OK.

I don’t understand how this place has so few reviews, and such a poor rating as well. It’s not as good as St Ali North was, but it’s around the same as it was when it was Green Park!!

This place has had a relaunch with the same owners and the rating here is probably suffering from the fact many of it's loyal customers reviewed it already under it's previous incarnation. This place is in fact very much a local favourite and is always humming. The food is fantastic, the coffee is consistently good, and the service is impeccable and comes with an offer of free sparkling water. Bonus! On top of that the place is big enough to offer a range of seating from intimate booths to big sunny tables and the location beside the bike path, tram route and playground means there's no end to interesting people watching. I love this place and I really appreciate that the owners keep working to make it even better.

I really really really love the food. But I really really really didn’t like the mocha I got. If only I order just the food. I would have given it 4.5/5. The mocha just tasted really bitter (and burnt maybe?).

But the food... oh the food!!! The pasta special is mussels and prawns pasta. I don’t normally eat prawns but this was delish. The kiddie pasta was fantastic too and it was almost an adult size. For $9 it was great value.

Only 8 reviews on this well-known institution? Hhhmmmm .....

Must be a new name and new owner/s I'm guessing.

It has a different vibe since the last time we've visited this well-known Carlton institution.
2 terrific bottomless filtered coffee at $5.00 and the biggest Godzilla $6.00 plain Croissant anywhere in Melbourne.

My cafe comrades seems happy with their breakfast order too.

It comes with terrific service now, more to look forward coming back again.

Watch out for the DANGEROUS bicycle track. JT-11/11/2017.

We dined here 2 weeks ago and were very impressed with the service and the food but especially with how quiet the dining area experience was. We are so so sick of noisy concrete and glass caves that masquerade as restaurants. You know the sort where you have to yell to have a conversation with someone across the table from you. Well Park Street Dining is that rare exception, a conversation friendly restaurant. The meals were had were interesting and tasty, not cheap but they were value for money. So do yourself a favour and pay them a visit. Booking first would be necessary.

Park Street dining is a very modern Melbourne eatery located on the Park street bike path towards Nicholson Street. Park street is quite a popular spot always buzzing with people either sitting out the front on the grass sipping on takeaway coffees, brunching in the sun and comfort of the small courtyard out the front near the kitchen garden or sipping on cocktails at the bar inside. Park street serves and all day breakfast with lunch starting from 11 but also serves a dinner menu on Wednesday through to Sunday, the ideal location for after work dinner and drinks.

Upon arrival on a Friday afternoon it was rather busy as to be expected but I grabbed a spot in one of the booths next to the window and read over the creative, modern and classic Melbourne menu. The food options are great and accommodate for everyones taste but the standout is the great cocktail and drinks list. I was greeted by a kind waiter who took my order of a long black and left me to still decide on what to order.

The long black arrived promptly but had to be sent back. As the hot steamy brew was placed next to me I notice a lengthy long black hair and asked for another. The waiter was very apologetic and within moments another appeared. I was torn by the lovely menu items and asked the waiter what would be his preferred item to order between either the granola or the bircher muesli as I always find my love for the two inseparable. I went with the waiters recommendation and opted for the bircher muesli and waited patiently, sipping on my long black.

The second brew was pretty darn good, much better than I anticipated due to the earlier mishap. The first sip awaked the senses appealing to fruity, sweet and subtly sour flavours overall crafting for a perfect cup of coffee. The bircher muesli featuring orange, berry compote, almonds and pistachio was presented beautifully in a wide concave stoned bowl. The bircher was flavoursome and creamy, with a lovely thick consistency. The oats where soaked in a tangy yoghurt ensuring the dish wasn’t to sweet. The crunchy pistachios and almonds on top added texture to the flawless dish. The berry compote was refreshing but sadly the only presence of orange tasted throughout the dish was the minuscular slice of candied orange that sat on top for presentation purposes.

Park street dining is an awesome spot to grab a bite to eat, coffee on the go or sneaking cocktail in a upbeat temporary environment. The staff are friendly and service is relatively quick considering that its usual busy. The food and coffee is exceptional with a unique twist on classic dishes. Apart from the odd hair in your coffee Park street is a mighty fine spot fit for all occasions.

I ordered soy latte which is my coffee every day and I must say it was one of the best coffees I’ve had in Melbourne 😊 the food was lovely and tasty. Honestly I hesitated to go there because the rating was not high but I was hungry. And it turned out it was a good cafe overall. Btw, customer service was a bonus. I’ll go back for sure. I’m from interstate and was a bit surprised how weak all the coffees are so far in Melbs. But this cafe nailed it. No bitterness, not weak, not strong. The portions are very generous. The French Toast is extraordinary replete with fairy floss! Very pleasant staff. And I like the music they play. Great ambience both indoors and out. You know how some cafes nail it with one but not the other? This one does both well. The aircon cooling was struggling on the day we were there. It was a bit hot.
