Another throwback photo - Missing korean bbq so badly... I mean who doesn’t love kbbq?! 🥓🤤
Dishes:🍲🍟🍔
2 sets of mix combo with soybean paste stew and kimchi stew 🍲| seafood pancake 🥞 rolled omelette with cheese 🧈
Value:💰💲
Enjoyed everything we ordered, and friendly staff even on a busy Friday night. Love the variety of side dishes and fresh veggies to go with the grilled meat! My favourite was the rolled omelette with cheese & gravy, the dish was simply divine, definitely a must order! 🤩
Price was reasonable and dishes were good for sharing. The only downside was the small space which was quite uncomfortable, as we were seated at the very back & were very close to our neighbouring table.
Will I go back and overall score: ❌⭕️💯
Yes - 8.5/10 (have given it an 8.5 as I personally still prefer Bornga (another korean bbq joint)!)
If you’re looking for a korean bbq restaurant with fast service and a warm ambience, Paik’s bbq is a great choice!
We ordered the set beef menu which consisted of 3 beef dishes, a choice of 2 stews and plentiful of banchan (side dishes). We also ordered additional japchae & naengmyeon.
Food came out fairly quickly and the staff was readily available to assist with cooking and anything else you may need. Japchae was absolute delicious, clean and not too oily, naengmyeon is exactly as you would expect, along with sauces for you to alter according to your taste.
All in all, food, ambience, staff was amazing at an affordable price!
Food: Your good old KBBQ. No more, no less.
Ambience: Have liked that place since it was the old owners Drumtong. Great for group dinners.
Service: Very friendly.
Value: Fair priced. Met all expectations.
Only gave 4 stars because there a a bazillion KBBQ places in Melb. It needs go somehow go that extra mile to grab a bigger market share.
Me and my husband had a take away meal from this BBQ restaurant yesterday. Pork was really delicious. We were very satisfied with generous veggie and side dishes. I wish they provide more selections soon.
Great food and service, nice portion size for cost.
Lovely delicious food. Some dishes cheap enough to have dinner here every day. But most fun when sharing with friends.
It is a really delicious restaurant ❣️
Very very delicious. Very kindly service. Recommend to all people.
Amazing food and great customer service.
The Korean BBQ here at Paik is exceptional. The portions you get including meat, the variety of side salads and complimentary side dishes are quite generous and overall great value for money.
Service is attentive and prompt with servers helping patrons cook their meat for them at the table. Our usual host Edward is always very friendly and welcoming and makes the entire dining experience fun.
Paik is definitely the #1 spot for Korean BBQ in Melbourne.
Great service with great food! All the staffs were kind with smiles.
Loved it! The food was absolutely delicious and there was the biggest selection of banchan I’ve had at any kbbq. Three different serves of meat and a rolled omelette with cheese and gravy. All amazing. Will be back.
First time I came, everything so amazing.
Friendly staff, yummy food~~~
Come back again, again and again.
This shop is the best resturant in Australia.
I recommend for everyone!!!really fantastic bbq :)
I recommend! I could taste Korean BBQ Thanks Paik's
I liked everything! Service was great ;) yummy😆 The staff was kind and the food was delicious. a neat, bright place!
The staff who served us provided really great service. Food is great too. Overall 4.5 out of 5
I had the best beef ribs in this Korean restaurant! It was very tender. I recommend soy sauce yeoltan Bulgogi for kids as my boys had enjoyed. I am glad that we ordered it as our waiter recommended.....can’t remember his name.
Best korean bbq I’ve ever tried!!!! Good kimchi stew and meat!
This is my third visit to Paik’s BBQ and every time has been exceptional. Great service, food and atmosphere. One of the best Korean BBQ restaurants in Melbourne!
I love this place which has friendly staff and nice food. Also, fresh side vegetables are the best for me. My family love this area as well.
Definitely I will go there again with my friends.
This is my second time coming here and still as great as my first visit.
I have been to few other Korean BBQ place that are pricier than Paik's but I still find this place more worth than others.
I would often recommend this place and my friend who went to other fancy Korean BBQ place agrees that Paik's is better.
They would serve you tremendous amount of side dishes. Some of my favourite side dishes are: free seaweed soups, crab meats, macaronis. Not to mention they offer free refills for this.
We ordered the mango cocktail, it came a bit smaller than we expected. We thought it taste like mango juice, but actually after a while we felt the alcohol kicks in.
The mix combo definitely worth it.
Highly recommend!
I love this restaurant, such a wonderful korean bbq in melbourne. Good mannered male staffs. Love the atmosphere. Should visit here
A lot side dishes came to our table, so friendly service, good mood place.
If you are hungry, should come to here.
But weekend’s so busy. Must book here.
Fantastic amazing awesome really nice mood in korean bbq restaurant🤪😝😛😜😍

Amazing Korean BBQ and excellent service. Edward was the best waiter ever, He though us how to enjoy the real Korean BBQ.
Great customer service from Edward. Caring and delivers a great dining experience.
I have decided to try this Korean bbq restaurant because the high demand and recommendations from others to come.
First of all the customer service was of high quality, Edward a waiter on floor was very friendly and easy going.
The food was really good I would definitely recommend the rice cake dish and the meats.
Came to PAIK BBQ to have dinner and was served and seated very fast! The food was exceptionally nice and the staff was very polite and friendly. In particular we were served by a staff member named Edward who was very attentive at helping us cook our meat as well as made sure that we were catered for and had everything we needed throughout our meal. Amazing place to have kbbq and will definitely be coming again
Had dinner with some friends. Food is perfect, something for everyone. Service was awesome and Edward was very accommodating. Will be back definitely!
Great value. Good quality. Plenty of sides. We had the pork combo and that was more than enough for the two of us. Staff is very attentive and friendly. Thank you Eward for the great night!
Beat place in melbourne.
Friendly and good service and staff:)
(Edward of Staff is kind and funny.)
❤️❤️🙏🏻😭👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Good meat for $78 combo will be coming back soon and very fast service very nice employees!!
What a beutiful!! This is the best what I have ever eaten!
We went here as my korean friend recommendation. It’s actually a nice place with a good ambience and a nice food too. The portion is okay, it could be consideypricey for some people. But for me it’s still okay. We tried japchae, beef and pork bbq, egg cheese and bibimbap. Everything is nice except the egg is a bit too salty for me. They gave a lot of complements of the side dishes even seaweed soup which isn’t normal in other places. Would be better if they marinated the meat 🥰🥰
All the food was good and friendly staffs. My favorite place!
Good korean bbq meat, great sides and amazing customer service. We had the beef combo with japchae and rice balls on the side. Also would highly recommend the kimchi stew and beer-martini! Only thing I would fault is the small table out the front for 3 people, I would've appreciated a bigger table considering how much we ordered but they didn't equip us with a table out the back when I saw this being available as I went to the bathroom.

Paiks bbq probably has one of the best spicy pork bulgogi in the area. It is a must order dish when you visit. The kimchi soup is also really good, it comes with rice and shredded seaweed where they get mixed together with the soup. The beef is also really good here.
Friendly service, and kind recommendations. Their kbbq set is wonderful with a lot of side dishes, their also help cook and cut up the meat. Very budget friendly, their crab coleslaw was my favourite :)
Good service and delicious food
High quality meat and sauces
The combos are valuable to order
And the non alcoholic drinks are amazing.
This in definitely in my books of one of the most delicious korean bbq experiences ever! Located on little Bourke street and a little bit far from Melbourne central lies a traditional Korean eatery.
Ordered:
Beef combo $70.80
Japchae $19
Pork neck $21
Cold noodles $15
Review:
The food came out reasonably fast and it’s wonderful to see that they use real charcoal as the flavour cannot beaten with an electrical grill. Beef quality was mediocre, Kkotsal was not marbled as much as I would’ve liked it to be but my fave cut of the night would be the pork neck. Tender but meaty had the perfect flavour but one tiny slice of pork neck for $21 is way too expensive. As what most reviews state the side dishes offered at Paik are unbelievable they have a wide range and you can get creative with binding the meats and wrapping them with the provided lettuce platter. Plus all side dishes are refillable !! Highlight would’ve been the cold noodles, this is a definitely an acquired taste as not all are used to cold noodle soup. But it is said that it is a must for Korean bbq especially when you pair the fresh off the grill meat with the cold fresh chewy noodles it’s a perfect. The noodles are super chewy and had elasticity as they are made of buckwheat. But the broth was so flavourful and light, wonderful for summer or a hot spring night.
📍Paik's BBQ, Melbourne
Paik's BBQ aka 새마을식당 is the star franchinse in Korea owned by celebrity chef Paik Jong Won. There was a branch near where I used to work in Korea and they were just phenomenal! Despite of being cheap, everything tasted absolutely incredible from Kimchi Jjigae to Pork Belly. Not to mention, I loved their 1970's nostalgic interior design which laid out that "tougher but simpler" vibe. However, Paik's BBQ branch in Melbourne was quite disappointing in comparison.
We got Mix Combo (Marinated Chicken Thighs/Beef, Porky Belly, Kimchi Jjigae - $68.80), Spicy Yeontan Bulgogi ($18), and Charcoal Grilled Marinated Chicken ($17). Before I start, I want to say Banchans/Sides were on point - a good variety to complement grilled goods & refillable! All the grilled goods were decent especially Marinated Chicken Thighs and Yeontan Bulgogi. I particularly enjoyed Bulgogi the most because of its texture - thinly sliced pork cooked to perfection to make them all crispy and juicy at the same time. Went incredibly well together with their special spicy dipping sauce! Kinda wish we ordered more of that. But unforunately, overall portions were SMALL - pitifully small... they literally gave out 6-7 pieces per protein which caught me off guard. Considering the price, it just felt extremely expensive especially since there weren't anything outstanding about their BBQ (except for maybe Bulgogi). I also didn't like how thin their Pork Belly was as well (about ~0.5cm thickness). 7 Minute Kimchi Jjigae back in Korea was one of the best jjiaes I've had so I had a high expectation. But at this branch, they definitely didn't pull their weight - not flavourful at all and definitely lacked the amount of pork in the stew. Very very disappointing :(
Overall, it's an ok-ish K-BBQ venue in Melbourne. Not sure if I will return but for those who aren't accustomed to authentic K-BBQ experience, this might be a good introductory venue to start.

This place is definitely recommended. The service is terrific, the place and atmosphere also very nice. The portion of the small is a bit less than expected, but enjoyable nonetheless
4.5/5
I’ve been wanting to try out Paik’s BBQ for a while now, so I was so excited when I could finally go. I went with a group of friends for dinner, and it was definitely wise of us to make a reservation in advance- there was a line already waiting outside for the restaurant to open.
Presumably due to how busy they are, our session was limited to one and a half hours. That being said, it was plenty of time to dig in. We ordered plates of Marinated beef short ribs, Mansinchang Samgyeopsal (Marinated pork belly- teriyaki sauce), as well as Pork Spare ribs and neck. In addition to the meat, we also sampled their Japchae and Cheese Gyeran Jjim (steamed egg with cheese).
They were very generous with the banchan (side dishes). Some of the banchan I liked the most included the crab stick, pasta, fish cake and kimchi. They also served seaweed soup, which was different from other KBBQ places I’ve been to.
The meat was delicious! I enjoyed both the beef and the pork, but I personally found pork belly to be the best meat to wrap up in lettuce (or any of the other vegetables provided). Steamed egg with cheese was also a very delicious dish, the eggs were so fluffy and combined with the cheese- it was simply amazing! Japchae was the only dish that I felt as if it wasn’t too special, and it took the longest to come out.
The staff were very friendly and approachable. They allowed us to refill some of our favourite side dishes over and over again, and also attended to our needs very quickly and efficiently. The ambience of the restaurant is also very lively and cheerful, and although it looks small from the front, it was actually bigger than I thought.
We definitely had a pleasant experience at Paik’s BBQ, and will look forward to coming back again sometime!
Understaffed but average speed and the bbq is very tasty and relatiwy cheap!
Food and service was an absolute 10/10. Service was fantastic, the ladies were so helpful and I am not used to the waiters/waitresses cooking the meat for us so it really made the experience awesome.
The Pork Combo was delicious, the cocktails and 'Mageok.. (forgot how to say and spell it)' were so different!! Definitely worth the try!! Looking forward for my next trip to Melbourne and coming straight here!!
We ordered the Beef Combo from Paik’s BBQ, which consists of boneless short ribs (Kkotsal), beef finger ribs (Neukgansal), marinated beef thin skirt (Yangnyeom Anchangsal), the combo kimchi jjigae, and a plate of vegetables to wrap the meat with. As for the à la carte dishes, we ordered the rolled omelette with cheese (Cheese Gyeran-Mari) and old fashioned lunch box (Yetnal Dosirak). The service was impeccable. The waitresses/waiters helped cook the beef, so if you’re not good with barbecuing meat, you can get help from the staff to ensure you get a very tasty meal. The rolled omelette with cheese was much larger than I expected it would be; the cheese to egg ratio wasn’t balanced since there was more egg than cheese, but it was perfect for me since I prefer less cheese. The old fashioned lunch box was a spontaneous decision and tasted delicious when eating with the omelette, kimchi jjigae, or even as an individual dish.
The beef set was a little pricey for the amount of meat we got in my opinion. Nonetheless, service and food were satisfactory.
Beef Combo: $78.80
Rolled Omelet with Cheese (Cheese Gyeran-Mari): $16
Old Fashioned Lunch Box (Yetnal Dosirak): $9.80
💸Total Meal: $104.60

Again, another korean BBQ joint. I came here last summer for a farewell dinner.
Paiks serve really delicious and good quality korean BBQ.
The side dishes are very yummy. Love their kimchi.
This place is very fun and friendly too with friendly staffs interacting with you while they were cooking your meal.
Overall, really had en enjoyable experience.
I love all paiks BBQ menu. especially yeoltan bulgogi is best of best. all food tastes same as korea. so i felt like i came to korea. The restaurant service is good, all staff is very kind. I'll definitely visit again.
Amazing BBQ joint in the CBD.
The place had quite some seats, it did smell like BBQ but there was still ventilation. Staffs were amazing, food didn't take long and they were always back to help with the grill. They changed the grilling plate every time it gets too stained.
The beef combo was plenty of meat. They were mostly tender, especially the short rib and thin skirt. Doenjjang jjigae (soy bean paste soup) was also flavourful and well portioned. Loved the pork belly too, it was great fat to meat ratio, cooked to perfection.
Of course, I had to mention the side dishes as they gave a lot and I enjoyed all of them (refillable) especially the pickled radish and salad bowl, the condiments was great as well (soybean paste, salt and pickled onion in soy sauce), and we even got some seaweed soup each which was warm and comforting.
Beef bibimbap was legit one of the best I've had, it was bit crusty but rice was cooked well, the beef was generous and really tasty, also I liked how the egg were mixed and poured in too, unique concept.
Egg roll was yummy, texture was good, cheese was a fair amount and I love the sauce as it wasn't your typical mayo and ketchup.
Squid bulgogi was also delish, squid wasn't rubbery, it was the perfect spiciness and flavour, there were also mushrooms in it which i love. Tried my sister's dosirak too and since I'm not a spam fan I can't really be a judge, but the eggs were perfectly cooked and there were anchovies in it which gave the dish more flavour.
Overall I'm really impressed by this place, could easily be the best BBQ joint I've been so far with amazing service and food. Do check this place out.
Update:
Came for impromptu BBQ session and got pork bulgogi and beef skirt, both were again pretty nice and staffs were friendly. Got the steamed egg and it was delicious. And yes the side dishes were sho yumm
( follow for more!✨)

One of the best korean bbq in cbd. The staffs were very polite and helpful in grilling our meats. We ordered beef and pork combo, spicy kimchi stew, chap jae and cheese omelet. All the dishes were delicious with reasonable price.
the food is good and the service is excellent! it's one of my best experience and after trying a lot of korean bbq i think this one is my favourite.
excellent service and food! the staff is very friendly! there’s a lot of choices of side dishes and they are yummmmm. no doubt will def come back here again :)
Been to many Korean BBQ’s and I think this has been my favourite! Extremely friendly and fast service, food came out quick, and the largest range of sides I’ve ever had (that can be refilled!). Delicious choices of meat. Will definitely be returning!
It was really good restaurant!
All foods were tasty
and all staff ware friendly and kind
I recommend Beef combo and beer-rita
I love here
I'll come again!
Service was very fast and professional, all staff are willing to help. Meat are high quality and no freezer smell. Plenty off seat with big table for a group of friends and family. Nice one! very recommended.
One of my favourite Korean BBQ
Most importantly, there has pork belly stabbed in a prune manner. Oh, it's softer You don't have to chew for a long time to get tired. I like this one. It's so good.
#There are many types of side dishes, including pickled onions, pickled radishes. Crab Stick with Mayo Seaweed Soup This shop's kimchi has been refilled 3 times. It tastes really good.
#Gochujang dipping sauce. It's not like other Korean restaurants. There is a little more seasoning to make it more flavorful.
Had dinner there. Ordered a beef combo, pork belly, chilled buckwheat noodle soup, beef bibimbap and some corn tea. The quality of the meat is good and fresh. Despite of staff shortages, the staff there were friendly and attentive. Seated comfortably at the table with enough space to put all the foods with the hot plate placed in the middle. Nice cozy restaurant good for catching up.
We are from WA and you guys in Melbourne are so lucky to have Paik's BBQ. Food was amazing and felt like I was in Korea. The manager was super ultra nice and he even bought us masks as we were worried that we could not get on Uber back to the hotel with mandatory mask rules in public transportation. Again, thank you for making our night special and please please consider opening in Perth sooooooon.
Glad to finally try another one of Paik’s restaurants. We ordered a variety of food including bbq, soups and pancake. The bbq meat seemed quite fresh and the soups were tasty. The restaurant is quite big and bustling, service was not bad either. Price I would say it’s about average for kbbq.
Really great Korean BBQ in the CBD.
Lots of meat options with the pick of the bunch being the wagyu. We ordered one of the meat sets and some sides and were amazed by the variety we received.
Drinks list was also very appreciated, including a "lage-rita" corona and frozen margaritas which brought back many holiday memories.
Overall easily one of the best Korean BBQ shops in town and will definitely be back.
One of the top kbbq places in the CBD area, they serve up a variety of excellent side dishes. Their pork back neck and steamed egg with cheese are especially nice dishes to have there. Staff is attentive and service was great!
