I crave the dragonfruit smoothie bowl. Its delicious. Heaps of toppings with lots of texture. Fruit is fresh and it doesn't melt too fast. Strawberries overpower it a bit but that's probably seasonal. It gets kind of expensive when you have it delivered but...I'm still ordering it! The acai bowl with mixed berries is pretty good too.
A cool little boutique ice cream bar, Girls and Boys has the most amazing and unusual ice cream flavours, and is definitely a favourite with our family. Service is always efficient and timely, and the staff are lovely. There is limited seating, but it's just as easy to takeaway.
We tried a wattleseed and white chocolate cup and also a mango lassi. Both flavours were fabulous, with the mango being lovely and refreshing, and I love the nutty flavour of the wattleseed. The consistency is thick and creamy, and just perfect for a sunny day. Girls and Boys is a winner as far as I'm concerned.
Popped into this vegan gelato and smoothie cafe for a refreshing treat. I selected one of the green smoothies called green goddess which had mango, spinach, cucumber, parsley, celery and coconut water. This smoothie was tasty and very refreshing for the warm weather. They have a range of vegan desserts and ice creams which I would love to try next time.
Yum yum yum. Not only perfect for vegans but perfect for lactose intolerant, like my dad who hasn't been able to enjoy artisan ice cream for years. This stuff is so so delicious, the mouthfeel is glorious, the chocolate chunks and sauce are decadent and rich. Highly recommend this beautiful place for a cheeky vegan indulge! ❤️😜

Girls and Boys is the perfect place to get your ice-cream hit! It's all plant-based but if you usually have dairy ice-cream, you won't even notice the difference. It is so delicious and creamy and fresh! The flavours are updated regularly and it is reasonably priced too.

VEGANS UNITE! The best ice cream parlour...ever. Most ice creams are sugar free and every thing is vegan! My favourite ice cream is the peanut butter, I cannot go past it, the cookies and caramel is very sweet but sooo good as well and so is the mango lassi (much lighter in density and flavour). I especially love to go there on my birthday because if you show your ID on your birthday you get a free single scoop! 🍦

G&B is probably one of my favourite places in Melbourne and I go once a fortnight at least! They always have a new flavour or one I’ve had a few months before. Hands down the best gf Vegan one is the hazelnut chocolate. I also recently loved the Pumpkin Spice and Sticky Date - amazing it could be gluten free. The only thing is they melt super quick on a hot summers day. Decent price for a gf cone to boot.
Also the raspberry chia pot from the pre-made section is delicious!!
Dessert parlor for the vegans!
The place is on the smaller side, but it's connected to the eatery next to it. There are only a few seats inside but for a dessert parlor it's normal. It has a retro funky vibe. The staffs were friendly, we were able to samples the flavors, although limited to only 3 unfortunately.
Had their strawberries and cream gelato. It's coconut based so you can definitely taste the coconut flavor, i personally like it. The texture was smooth, and the strawberry flavor was right, right amount of sweetness. Also a pretty generous serving! Tho can get a bit boring close to finish.
Tried my friend's cherry ripe and I really like it! It's has tiiiiny bit of sour and that chocolate bits added great texture!
Overall a great place for vegan desserts, though some could be bit pricey.

Finally got the opportunity to try Girls & Boys! The staff are super friendly and the store has a nice vibe - and the vegan desserts are just epic!
I tried a scoop of the Wattleseed, Macadamia and White Chocolate ice cream and it was divine! Such a unique flavour, and it wasn’t too sweet nor heavy. Of course, I had to add a choc top which was amazing - highly recommend getting it!
Will definitely be coming back to try more flavours and other desserts!

$5 for a scoop of ice cream is pricey but oh my is it worth it! Absolutely delish! The strawberry rose was not particularly strawberry flavoured but it packed a punch with the rose and reminded me of Turkish delight. The mini magnums were also very tasty, the icecream inside mine had liquified but the lady serving us double checked about it as she was serving my friend offered to replace it and when I decline because it was still great gave it to me half price. Hows that for service?

The flavour selection was really good, especially being for being vegan.
I ordered the choc fudge sundae with peanut butter ice cream which was really tasty! Lots of toppings which was great! Not the biggest fan of the fudge which was a little too soft for my liking. However, I really enjoyed the ice cream flavour so that can be overlooked.
My friend ordered a choc top which fell off when being put into the chocolate so they gave her a cup for it which was really nice. The hard chocolate on top of the ice cream gave it a lovely crunch.
The service was very friendly, happy to have a laugh & also find me more of the peanut butter flavour I wanted that ran out.
Ordered the strawberry rose, cookies and cream and laminton. Amazing service, she let us taste try all of them till we got the right one for us. Strawberry rose was real fresh and fruity. Love the laminton flavour as it even has the “laminton” chucks inside the ice cream. Great servings

Soft and silky Gelato! Loved the consistency of the ice cream here. Heaps of great flavours on offer ones you would have never tried. A little too sweet for my liking.
Believe the hype, this place is a vegan dream. Their ice cream is top notch, dairy-free or not. I liked my partner's mango lass flavour, but LOVED the rich peanut butter I settled for. Not many people working behind the bar, so expect a bit of a wait at peak times.
I wish I was really rich so I could eat here every day. The whole menu is just pop pop poppin. Couldn’t recommend a thick shake any more. Melt in your mouth yummy
The Choc Hazelnut ice cream was amazing!! It was great that they had a gluten free waffle cone available to order as at most ice cream stores I would have to have it in a cup! Popped by for dessert after dinner at Vegie Bar next door. Opted for gluten free cone, gelato tasted amazing. Had the Raspberry + Lychee and Choc mint flavour. Tasted refreshing and light to the palate. Coincidentally I went on my exact birth day and hence I got the perk of having a free 1 scoop cone/cup. Staff who attended to me was friendly and accommodating :) Thank you to Girls & Boys for the birthday treat! I didn’t have a birthday cake but the gelato definitely made up for it. ❤️
Had the expresso ice cream which was absolutely amazing! Cute store, but when we went it was quite crowded and seemed very understaffed. The worker was very friendly nonetheless, but please sort out your staffing schedule so this place can get a 5 out of 5😉 will be back!

Awesome vegan dessert paradise! Had their “snickers” donut and its so yummy! Apart from their famous gelato and ice cream they also have Nutella croissant, mini donuts (3 different taste) strawberry jam donut, plain croissant and some cakes which i’ll definitely try next time 😍
This place serves up pretty damn good vegan ice cream. The choc sundae made with coconut yoghurt tastes just like McDonald’s but as rich n guilt free. My other top pick is the Nutella gelato in the cabinet.
Delicious vegan ice cream and soft serve, without the markup! For the same prices of regular dairy ice cream parlours, they offer an array of super tempting flavours such as mango lassi and salted peanut butter. My sundae ($8) was huge. Our server was patient and generous with sampling. Wish they had nicer outdoor seating with tables rather than the bench.

Best ice cream around! Probably the biggest reason I come to Fitzroy for. Tried multiple flavours, including the 'matcha and macadamia' from Big Vegan Market, and none have disappointed.
I had the salted peanut butter with hazelnut in a cup and my partner got the sundae. The ice cream was delicious and creamy, I absolutely loved it and would recommend this place on Brunswick street! 👌🏻

I got the vegan chocolate sorbet.. it was so yummy! Never had such a good "ice cream" before.

Headed over to Girl's and Boys Ice-creamery for some dessert and decided to try their 'Suuped Up Chocolate and Strawberry Sundae'.
When ordering I thought that the portion size would be too small of a serving for two people, oh boy was I wrong.
Yay: Amazing dessert choice, the icecream is made using coconut milk or cream instead of normal milk so it's very light but still very creamy! I absolutely loved the bits of red velvet cake within the dessert itself. it also comes with a full icecream cone which is a bonus!
Nay: The portion size would most likely be too much for one person and is definitely made to share.

After having lunch at Vegie Bar and eating so much that I could barely move I spotted Boys & Girls next door and couldn't help but check it out and try the rocky road gelato. It was delicious! Very satisfying and decent portion size. Can't wait to go back (maybe when I'm not so full)
Recently I have been informed my son is allergic to dairy and is anaphylaxis. I never really thought about the importance of vegan options until recently. Thank you for providing such an amazing gelato bar not only for customers who choose to be vegan but also for those who have no choice. Some people may complain about the limited options but I’m so grateful that I can feed my baby ice cream. Honestly it was so good I could not believe the strawberries and cream had no dairy. Great flavors, vibrant and yummy what more can you ask for
I love my raw treats and guilt-free desserts but I had higher expectations for Girls and Boys. The Sun Warrior smoothie was good but lacked something, perhaps more dates or sweetener? The ice-cream desserts went down a treat. 10/10 for presentation but I felt they could have been more true to their flavours. Service was friendly and welcoming. I'd come back to try more :)

Had the strawberries and cream flavour and oh my gosh it is truly so creamy and refreshing I could honestly down a whole tub!! Can’t wait to return and try everything on the damn menu
Love this place!! If you’re a plant based diet person and in the mood for dessert, G&B has you well covered from ice cream/gelato/sorbet through to soft serve creations and doughnuts. I had the rocky road gelato and couldn’t have been more excited about it. Incredibly fresh and a delicious treat!

Absolutely love the vegan ice creams here. My favourite is the gingerbread flavour, although last time I went they didn’t have it anymore. Cute set up with selected takeaway options from Veggie Bar’s menu.
Been here with my friend after brunch. I had salted PB flavour while my friend had pistachio flavour. So yummm!!! Hopefully they can give people more choices of flavour.

Guilt-free for both your diet and ethics, Girls and boys offer unique gelato flavours as well as other vegan friendly treats ranging from pimped up soft serves to pastries to smoothies.
The balsamic strawberry and the cherry, kaffir, lime and rhubarb gelato($6.50 for two scoops) both tasted natural and fresh with well balanced flavours despite the unconventional flavour profiles. My friend's salted peanut butter was also very good and it was impressive that they managed to get such a strong, creamy flavour without the use of dairy. You wouldn't even think that these treats were vegan! Although it isn't as smooth and is a bit on the icier side, the flavours totally make up for it and I would come back just for their interesting flavour combinations. I can't wait to come back here for their soft serves and to try other gelato flavours as they are rotated daily.
The store is located next to veggie bar and has a few chairs and tables available. Inside, the decor is quite funky and cute and I found the staff very friendly and patient. Great place and a must try for vegans and non-vegans alike!

I am not one who eats ice-cream very often, so this was definitely a treat for me. I totally love that it's all plant based but you can't even tell. I ordered a scoop of Strawberry Balsamic ice-cream and paired it with a scoop of Pistachio and Orange Blossom.
It sounds kind of odd but the two work seriously well together. I asked for a taste test too and the staff were happy to oblige.
It is a little pricey ($4.50 for one scoop or $6.50 for two scoops) but seeing as I don't eat it often, I could justify it - and the taste made up for it too.
I highly recommend this place!

I had to google "is gelato vegan?" to see whether i was being taken for a ride by this, mostly, gelato bar (the answer is sometimes, so they're off the hook). This vegan chocolate thickshake was good!
Love the vegan ice cream options but unfortunately every time i've gone the service is atrocious! No acknowledgement when you stand there ready to order! Not even a 'i'll be with you soon'. They always seem to be understaffed - yesterday night there was only one girl on and she was expected to serve customers AND make the ice cream desserts which takes some time. Really need one person just to serve and one to make desserts.

This place is amazing, best gelato I have ever had hands down - vegan or not! My favourite so for is the blood orange sorbet and the mint choc chip gelato. All vegan, all delicious.
Ordered via Ubereats along with our main food from Vegie Bar which is next door to this dessert bar (same owners). Many gluten-free and vegan ethical choices.
We broke into the "The Royale" chocolate cake first - What a fine giant slab of cake this was! Tasted very chocolatey and sponge wasn't dry at all. The ganache icing just melts in your mouth perfectly. However couldn't pick out any toasted coconut though. Never mind, it is still what chocolate cakes in dreams are made of. Definite do, again and again...
The Caramisu sadly didn't win any fans; We all thought the caramel glaze had an indescribable weird flavour, and the texture was quite pasty.

Very different ice cream shop. All treats are vegan. We had the baklava icecream which looked very cool with an upside down cone. I am not the biggest icecream fan, but love this concept!

OMGosh this place is amazing!!! I had a chocolate thick shake ($8) but it was worth it. It was definitely a meal in itself!! Perfect, no need for brekkie this morning haha

Really good dessert place when your up for it after dinner out in Fitzroy! Their coconut based choc tops taste like cocowhip & have a velvety soft-serve texture that I highly rate! The place also comes up with some interesting gelato flavours and I have always been offered taste tests of the new ones which regularly rotate/change. Their salted peanut butter & expresso ones are my favourite by far! They also do amazing Icecream bars which are on the pricey side at $7 each but are worth it in my opinion
Best ice cream I've ever had! Girls and Boys Fitzroy has so many desert options to choose from but also has a cool connected takeaway area for the Vegie Bar, their brother restaurant which has amazing food! They also do juices, smoothies, acai bowls, etc. which is cool.
I've tried the baklava and choc raspberry pimped up soft serve as well as all flavours of gelato. I loved them all! The staff are friendly and great to talk to. Highly recommend Girls & Boys as a nice place for dessert.

I’ve spent so much of my lift making my own desserts. I don’t eat dairy, sugar, gluten or artificial flavours so if I get a sweet craving there’s just SOO much prep involved it’s exhausting.
Then I found Girls & Boys. What the hell!!!! It’s just the best. Not only does it suit all my dietary requirements, it’s god damn delicious!
Even my “Eat whatever I want and still look like young Brad Pitt” husband likes it.
You do need to be a coconut fan tho - which I am. But if not, apparently it can be a little overpowering.
I’m yet to try a donut, but that’s on my list for next time.

So amazing!!! I tried their Pimped Up Choc Raspberry soft serve. Was the best soft serve I have ever had. The flavours were delicious. The presentation was beautiful as well - this dessert could have easily been featured on MasterChef! I loved how they added the waffle cone for extra detail. I think Girls & Boys could easily become my favourite ice-cream place - and also made me realise that soft serve doesn't have to be boring!

This place is awesome! Little expensive but awesome and healthy vegan soft serves, all made with coconut milk and organic brown rice syrup so didn't even feel guilty despite it looking super indulgent. Will be back!
“Oh, it’s Vegan”. I spent a good mile strolling, before realising that the slight difference in texture and flavour was down to the difference in ingredients. Could have had me fooled. I popped in to try something sweet, with a lot of caution mind you. It’s from the same family as Vegie Bar, and I was not a fan of their desserts, which I thought (and still think) was basic. There’s a small but sufficient range of treats on offer and I went for one of the gelati (there’s three to pick from). My flavour was the caramel, rum and miso. An interesting combo! I really enjoyed the rum and miso notes to shake up a classic fave. I enjoyed it enough to return again with friends, and went with the choc top soft serve on the second go. Vegan of course, it was coconut milk and agave. Nice and smooth, great coconutty notes. A cool little addition to the area, and perfectly matched with the neighbours. A lot more finesse than it’s sister store.

We thoroughly enjoyed the Pimped Out Baklava Soft Serve. Beautifully presented, the upside-down cone spills onto a generous plate of ice cream. Incredibly smooth and creamy, the soft serve exhibited a slight yet ever-present coconut flavour throughout. Without being overly sweet, the mild soft serve served as the perfect base to the toppings, though gave way to a bold soy aftertaste. The soft serve was further decorated with an abundance of sauces, nuts and layers of baklava. Exceptionally crunchy, the bits of pistachio, along with crispy flakes of baklava, provided the perfect crunch elements to the dessert.
It’s clear that Girls and Boys dishes out innovative and creative desserts that not only deliver on looks, but also on flavour as well. With all their products made in-house, bar the croissants, their healthy yet delectable range of desserts and health foods is caters to all sorts of dietary requirements without disappointing the eat-everything crowd.
